AUTHOR'S NOTE: Junior Year. Metric Ton of Homework. Enough said on the fact that posts are getting further apart. In other news, Robots of Sherwood comes out today and I'm really excited. The trailers for the past two episodes of season 8 have been interesting (dinosaur in Victorian London and traveling into a dalek) but this one has got me really excited. Two words: Robin Hood.
Malcolm's perspective for the most part with a little Nico thrown in the middle. Enjoy and don't forget to review.
So this 'snogbox' as Clara puts it (much to the Doctor's annoyance. Though I couldn't see any reason why any man would object to his girlfriend wanting to snog him) is not just bigger on the inside; it's practically infinite. He has an entire room dedicated to century-correct clothes for Earth.
"Aren't you going to change, Doctor?" I asked him after we were all dressed.
"No, he just wears the same thing every day," Clara clarified. "Though sometimes he takes off his coat."
The Doctor parked his NOT A SNOGBOX in the forests near the castle. The undergrowth made it difficult to walk or see much more than a bit of stone wall, but after a long and arduous walk (including Annabeth getting stuck at one point), I saw it. At first, I was so stunned that I froze. I was actually here. For a few moments, I just stood there, wide-eyed and mouth-gaping at the citadel. We were on a hill and could see over the tops of buildings over the light gray stone walls. There was a path leading down the hill to the entrance: a large gateway covered in stone bars like a cage.
"We can still get in," The Doctor suggested.
"I don't know, it's supposed to impregnable. That's what it was famed for." I pointed out.
"No, there's never just one entrance," Annabeth told us. "What about water and food? Some of that can come through the front door, but I reckon there's another way in, especially for water. Now, we need to take a surveillance of all the nearby bodies of a water and-"
"As great of an idea as that is, that's really unnecessary" The Doctor interrupted, flourishing a fancy gizmo from his jacket pocket. "We don't need to sneak in, because I can get the front door open with my sonic."
"Your what?"
"My screwdriver," he tilted his head and raised his virtually nonexistent eyebrows in a grin. "It's sonic."
His sonic screwdriver proved to be very useful, both in getting the door open and in making the locals believe he was a wizard, a rumor that spread quickly. We heard that another warlock wanted to meet him, and he agreed, on the grounds that his firstborn son (whose birthday was today) would be allowed to be present. Clara, Nico, and Annabeth promised to stay within the castle walls and follow the three rules (they wouldn't wander off from each other or get involved in big historical events).
"I can't believe he actually got us to the right place, and the right time. He rarely gets that right." Clara told us.
"That must be a real let down, not ending up where you wanted to go," Annabeth remarked. Clara smiled.
"Well, sometimes it is, but often you never know where you want to go until you get there. We always end up somewhere incredible and exciting. It's often very dangerous and sometimes I wonder why I ever agreed to leave my house in the first place, but once you've seen the things I've seen, there's no going back to ordinary life."
In a way, I understood what she was saying. Demi-gods don't fit in to the mortal world any more than we fit in on Mount Olympus. Our lives are dangerous and unpredictable, but rarely boring. It can be tragic, and heartbreaking at times, but there's a type of bond formed in life-or-death situations that you don't see anywhere else. I thought back to when Percy saved my life and when I searched the underworld for Bianca, only to find that she chose to be reborn into another life. I have always wondered what happened to her. When she chose to be reborn, would a baby with her soul be born nine months later? Earlier? Later? Would her name still be Bianca? Would she remember her old life? Would she remember me? There would have to be something linking her new life and her past life, because to go to the Isle of the Blessed, a person had to achieve Elysium three times, choosing to be reborn twice. Is it possible that the Bianca I knew was on her second lifetime? These are just some of the many questions that I will ask my father, once I get the chance. Maybe I will never see Bianca again, but I deserve to know what happened to her.
"…right, Nico?" apparently Annabeth had continued the conversation while I was thinking. I thought she was just talking about architecture and the placing of certain towers again, but she had pulled me into the conversation somehow.
"What?" Annabeth smiled at my response and turned to Clara.
"See what I mean? He's completely zoned out."
Meeting Merlin was amazing, but he didn't tell me anything that I hadn't already read in the Once and Future King. However, that might be the result of the parchment I saw on his desk entitled "A History of Camelot and its most famous King." The Doctor says that, although Merlin claims he's living backwards (an explanation to why he knows more about the future than the past), he is actually just a time traveler who's read a book about King Arthur.
"Like us?" I asked.
"Yes, but he's breaking rule #3 by being involved."
"Where does he get his magic, if he's just an ordinary human?"
"I never said he was human*, just that he was a time traveler. And as to his magic, you've seen how they reacted to my screwdriver."
"But you're just using sound waves to interact with a locking mechanism. He did stuff like turning Arthur into a goose and making objects float and shrink and become weightless."
"My dear boy, have you ever considered the idea that magic is just technology too sophisticated for you to understand? Some things are often too complicated to explain, so it's better to just call it magic and be done with it."
*Merlin is actually a timelord (or rather multiple timelords in our universe). It's hard to explain, but if you're like me and are fascinated by this and/or want more inforation, click on the link.
