Dear devoted readers,
After an extended hiatus, I am here to inform you that I will no longer be continuing this story. It pains me to say that despite my efforts, I simply lack the passion and interest I had for this when I started years ago. I saw it as a fun hobby, and all of you have been unbelievably kind and supportive and I cannot thank you enough for that. Therefore I feel obligated to explain why I've chosen to leave this behind.
Firstly, I was only 13 years old when I started writing this story. I'm seventeen now, my final year completing my AS/A Levels and I simply don't have the time. Also, it's only natural that our interests change over the years and it literally has been years since I last watched Death Note and I think that even if I persisted and continued, I would only be doing you all a disservice by inaccurately portraying the events and characters. I could watch it again, I could spend hours switching between the anime and finishing chapters, but it wouldn't be enjoyable and it would reflect in the work.
Second, when I did intend to continue the story and finish it last year, just to allow some closure for myself and the rest of you, around that time I went through a very difficult period. I've battled with depression for years, but it finally escalated to the point where I was battling addiction (narcotics) and multiple suicide attempts. Naturally, I would not prioritize this fan fiction.
I'm not trying to find excuses, but I just wanted to let all of you know that I am not abandoning this story in cold blood, I have battled to make this decision, but ultimately I think this is for the best.
Lastly I'd like to finish off by saying that, despite not continuing with this, I have not stopped writing. Currently I am working on a Novella, the first draft of which won second place (the irony) in my schools writing competition. Through all the times I wanted to stop you guys told me not to and now I'm working toward my first publication.

P.S. Not sure whether I should take this fic down (and spare anyone else from the disappointment of an unfinished fanfic) or keep it up just for old times sake. Let me know if it should stay or be taken down.
