Amy woke up the next morning earlier than she normally would, to get ready. She was in the bathroom, brushing her hair to make herself look presentable for the upcoming hours. She smiled as she stared into the mirror, more excited than she could even possibly put to words.

It wasn't long before Penny's face popped up on the screen, getting Amy's attnetion, putting down the hair brush. She found herself smiling like crazy, but couldn't find the want to to stop.

Penny always smiled when she saw Amy smiling. It cheered her up to see her happy. "Why are you so happy?" she asked, putting some sort of food into her mouth.

"How fast do you think you can get back to Pasadena?" Amy asked, not even bothering to answer her question. There would be time for that.

"Oh, I don't know," Penny said with a pretty exagerated sigh. "We'd have to get a plane ticket, get on the plane, ride the plane, unboard the plane-"

"Deboard," Amy corrected like it even mattered.

"Not soon," Penny said, the irritation in her voice, answering Amy's question.

"Well, get here as fast as you can," Amy said. She was planning on building up to the next sentance, but just sort of blurted it out instead. "Sheldon asked me to marry him."

Penny shook her head, picking up a cup. "He asked you officially a week ago," she said. "You're a little late."

"Penny," Amy said, making sure to really get her friends attnetion with her tone of voice. "Sheldon asked me to marry him."

Penny nodded her head, but still looked confused. "I don't understand," she said. But it didn't take long through the following silence for it to actually hit her. "Oh, my god, when?!"

"Today," Amy said, smiling even more like an idiot than she already was.

"I'll be honest with you," Penny started. "We never actually left the city. We'll be there in an hour."

Howard rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he walked into the dark kitchen, still in his pajamas. He turned on the light before pouring him some coffee that Bernadette had left over for him before leaving.

He turned around and nearly dropped the mug in his hand when he saw Sheldon sitting on the couch. "What the hell, Sheldon?!" he exclaimed.

Sheldon looked around the room as if there was another Sheldon and looked at Howard. "I'm getting married today," he said.

Howard sighed, deciding he might as well forget the whole breaking-an-entering thing and sat down. "Yeah, it sounds weird to me, too," he said.

Sheldon smiled, letting out a small chuckle. "Oh, Wolowitz, you always have those great one-liners we all love," he said. "That's why you're the funny one."

Howard leaned forward and placed his mug on the coffee table. "what's on your mind, Sheldon?" he asked.

"Were you and Bernadette planning on joining Amy and I at the courthouse?" Sheldon asked.

"Of course," Howard said. "Bernie's heading there with Amy right now as we speak. Why would you think otherwise?"

"Well, you did just wake up," Sheldon commented.

"And it's eight o'clock," Howard said. "It's my day off and I get up at a reasonable time."

Sheldon waved his hand, dismissing it. "Would you happen to have any advice for someone getting married today?" he asked.

"Is Sheldon Cooper nervous about getting married?" Howard asked in return, slightly amused, smiling.

"I'm never nervous," Sheldon said with a shake of his head.

Howard let out a small laugh, nodding his head and grabbing his coffee. "Now look who's hte funny one," he said.

Sheldon looked confused, tilting his head to the side. "I don't understand," he said with a shake of his head.

Howard wasn't surprised. "It doesn't matter," he said. "What kind of advice do you want?"

Sheldon leaned forward, propping his arms on his knees, connecting his hands together. "How do you get married?" he asked.

"No need to worry, Sheldon, " Howard said. "I'll be there to walk you through it all." He put his coffee cup down once again. "Can I ask you a question unrelated to the events about to go down today?"

Sheldon shrugged his shoulders. "I don't see why not," he said. "We live in a free country. What you want-for some reason-is considered just as important as mine."

Howard chose to ignore the insult, finding it pointless to argue with Sheldon at this point in their friendship. "Why me?"

"Because you're married," sheldon said.

"No, no, not marriage related," Howard said with a shake of his head. "Why me? Why now? Why wait ten years to care about my well-being?"

"You're going through a hard time in your life right now," Sheldon said. "I've been there. I know what it's like to lose a father. And the more people you have with you that truly care, the better you'll feel."

Howard slowly nodded his head. "Well, it is nice to know I have people here for me," he said. "But do you really have to be there for me to?"

"In Michagin?" Sheldon asked then nodded his head. "Yes, yes, I do." He pat Howard on the knee. "I worry about you, Wolowitz. Your already weak heart can only take so much."

"Thank you," Howard said, pausing a bit. "I guess."

Sheldon looked at his watch then back at Howard. "Get dressed," he said. "We'll be having a busy few hours."

Penny was putting on lipstick as Leonard drove them through the early morning traffic of Los Angeles. "Who knew Sheldon would get married before us," she commented.

"Yeah, it almost seems like one of his bazinga things," Leonard said. "Hard to imagine it's actually happening."

"He got engaged first, too," Penny added, putting her lipstick up and zipping her purse closed. She looked up and over at Leonad. "Let's get married."

"Didn't we already have this conversation?" Leonard asked.

"You know what I mean, Leonard," Penny said. "Today. Before Sheldon and Amy. Steal their glory."

Leonard smiled. "Yeah?" he asked, looking at Penny then back at the road.

"Yeah," Penny said with a nod.

"Ok," Leonard said, also nodding. "Let's do it. Let's get married."

Amy and Bernadette were the first ones at the courthouse, waiting in the hall for the others to arrive.

"How nervous were you when you got married?" Amy asked, turning to look at her short blonde friend.

"Not very much," Bernadette said. "I've never really had nerves. Howard is the nervous one."

"Wow, you've been a lot of help," Amy said, sitting down on the bench.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Bernadette asked.

Amy looked over at Bernadette, shaking her head. "Nothing," she said. "Today is too big to fight. I'm sorry. Just nervous."

"It's fine," Bernadette said. "No one can blame you for being a little on edge."

Amy stood up once again when Raj and Alli walked in. "Where's Sheldon?" she asked.

"Getting a few pointers from Howard," Raj said. "They should be here soon." Alli whispered somethign into his ear, making him nod, then she walked down the hallway. "I'm surprised you're so calm about this," he commented to Amy.

"Me, too," Amy said. "I mean, I've been waiting years for this day and now it's finally here. I'm nervous, but not as much as I expected to be."

"Maybe you're still in shock," Raj suggested. "I'm the same way. It took about a week for me to realize I was dating someone as amazing as Alli."

"How's that going, by the way?" Amy asked.

"Surprisingly really well," Raj said, nodding his head as he spoke. "I know it's only been a few weeks, but I can see it going places."

"Wow, we're all in happy, stable relationships now," Amy said. "Next thing you know, we'll all be married with kids. We'll get better jobs and move away and never see each other again." She turned to look at Bernadette. "And, oh, my god, i can't marry Sheldon!"

"Where is all of this coming from?" Bernadette asked.

"The nerves are getting to me," Amy explained. "I've spent too long without very many friends. I don't want to lose you guys because I'm happily married. I can't marry Sheldon. At least not yet."

"You won't lose us as friends," Bernadette said. "Me and Howie didn't lose any friends."

"That's because neither of you are in a field that could require testing on location," Amy said. "You wouldn't have to leave."

"Well, that is true," Bernadette said with a nod.

The doors opened again and Leonard and Penny walked in, hand in hand and smiling at each other.

"Oh, no, they're drunk," Alli commented with a smile as she returned to Raj's side.

"No, no, not drunk," Penny said, holding onto Leonards arm like it was a teddy bear. She laid her head against his shoulder. "We're just happy."

"You're this happy over me and Sheldon getting married?" Amy asked.

"Oh, god, no," Penny said, lifting her head and shaking it.

"We're gonna get married," Leonard said before lookign at Penny, sharing a smile with her then looking back at the others. "Today."

"Just couldn't let me have my day, could you?" Amy asked, directed toward Penny.

"The decision has nothing to do with you," Penny said.

"It kinda does, yeah," Leonard said quietly wiht a nod of his head.

"It doesn't matter anymore," Amy said. "I'm not marrying Sheldon anyways."

"Why not?" Penny asked with a concerned toned, letting go of Leonard and walking over to Amy.

"The realization of my life is hitting me all at once," Amy said. "And that realization is, I'm not ready to get married yet."

Both doors were pushed open, causing them all to look to see Howard, in a suit sans dickie, probably a request made by Sheldon specifically for this occasion.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he started, but, before he could continue, the doors swung back closed in front of him. He opened them up again, looking at Raj and Leonard. "Could you two just... for a little while? We rehearsed this and this is embarassing."

Both Raj and Leonard moved to hold the doors open as Howard made his little speech.

Howard nodded his head. "Now... ladies and gentlemen," he continued. "Without further adue, the man we once knew as a robot is... a little less of a robot, but more like an android with feelings, like us humans."

"I said no robot comments," Sheldon could be heard saying around the corner.

Amy stepped forward before Howard could go on. "Wait," she said.

Howard lowered his arms, looking annoyoed that he couldn't finish his introduction. "Come on, this is a big deal for everybody," he said.

"It's not a big deal, Howard," Amy said. "It's not a big deal because... it's not gonna happen.

Sheldon stepped out and past Howard. He, too, was wearing a suit. One of his nice ones that was actually fashionable and made him look sexy as hell. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"Let's give them some privacy," Penny suggested before ushering everyone away from the hall.

Just from the look Sheldon gave her, Amy knew this was going to be the hardest conversation she would ever have.

Penny was leaning against the door on the other side as the others talked among themselves.

"Stop eavesdropping," Leonard said.

Penny waved her hand at him. "Shh, I can't hear what they're saying," she said.

"You don't need to," Leonard said. He grabbed onto her shoulders and gently pulled her away. "This is something you need to stay out of."

"I find that hard to do," Penny said. "My best friend doesn't even know what she wants out of life and isn't sure what she really wants is the man she really wants."

"Let them talk it through," Leonard said. "There's nothing you could do or say to change anything now."

Penny sat down on a bench, looking up at him. "I'm worried about them both," she said. "Neither of them have gone though anything close to this."

Leonard sat on the bench next to her. "It kinda ruins the mood doesn't it," he said.

"Yeah, how can we show off how happy we are when they're going through this," Penny said. She looked at Leonard. "Maybe we should put it off. We were being kinda impulsive anyway."

Leonard nodded, taking her hand in his. "But, when we do get married, it's gonna be the biggest, most bad ass wedding you'll ever have," he said.

Penny smiled at him. "I'm not gonna let you wear a Doctor Who costume on our wedding day," she said.

"I was thinking more of Han Solo," Leonard said.

Penny shrugged. "That's a little better, but still, no," she said. She gave him a kiss. "I think they'll be ok. Cause if we can make it, anyone can."

Sheldon was the first to break the silence. "Do you care to elaborate what you mean there won't be a marriage?" he asked.

"Not particularly, but if I don't..." Amy started, but trailed off. She tried again. "I've been in love with you basically since day one. And I've waited patiently for you to feel the same way."

Sheldon smiled softly at her. "And that's one of the many reasons why you're amazing," he said. "Can we get married now?"

"No," Amy said more bluntly than she expected. She shook her head, dismissing it. "Can't you let me get to my point?"

Sheldon lifted his hand. "I apologize for my interuption," he said. "You may continue breaking my heart."

Amy felt her own heart break hearing those words. "You think this is easy for me?" she asked. "Do you think I want to not marry you?"

"That's the way it's seeming," Sheldon said.

"Just listen to me."

Sheldon grew silent, slowly nodding his head. "I don't want to, but I'm istening," he said.

"Like I said, the last few years, I've been nothing but patient with you," Amy said. "Emphasis on that. Because that's all I'm asking for in return. Patience."

"What does this mean for us?" Sheldon asked.

"Well, our relationship isn't exactly... healthy," Amy admitted.

"Really?" Sheldon asked. "It seems fine to me. "We're both physical and emotional now. I tell you things and you listen."

"That's exactly what I'm saying," Amy said. "I'm putting all the effort into this relationship. I assure you, I'm not breaking up with you. I love you too much."

"I have the feeling your conclustion isn't much better," Sheldon said.

"I think we should take a breather," Amy said after a moments pause. Had she waited any longer, she would've changed her mind.

"And I was right," Sheldon said, nodding his head.

"Wouldn't you rather not be married while I'm away anyways?" Amy asked.

Sheldon shook his head. "No," he said.

"Sheldon," Amy said, walking clsoer to him, taking his hands in hers. "I'm not ready yet. I know that. I need this. Can't you do this one thing for me? Wait on me."

Sheldon stared down at her in silence, worrying her more. He slowly nodded his head. "Because I love you," he started. "And I should start showing more respect for you, I'll do that. I'll be patient. I'll wait on you."

Amy smiled at him, getting on her tip toes and planting a kiss on his lips. "Thank you, Sheldon."
