BELLA.
"Expand your mind." Christopher closed his eyes infront of me and extended his arms, "Imagine a big rubber band stretching."
I rolled my eyes. This was absolutely useless. I closed my eyes anyway. "I don't get what I'm supposed to do." I muttered.
Christopher growled under his breath, "Okay, fine." He looked toward the house and smirked, "Rosalie, could you come outside please?"
"Oh for fuck sake." Rosalie mumbled as she descended the stairs down to the garden.
Christopher grinned, "Stand next to Bella," He ordered. She did as she was told.
"Now, Bella. Do what I just told you."
I sighed and closed my eyes again, imagining this fucking rubber band extending to Rosalie. I scrunched my eyes closed, feeling all my energy pulling away from me.
"Good." Christopher chuckled, "Hold onto that while I attempt my gift with Rosalie."
"Oh, please." She breathed.
I ignored them the best that I could, keeping this imaginary band in place.
"Hey, beautiful." Christopher breathed, "You honestly...you have me at a loss of words-"
"Get lost." Rosalie growled, interrupting him.
My eyes sprang open, "Did I do it?!"
Christopher nodded, "Yep. But it needs a bit more work, love."
I sighed, defeated.
"Excuse me for a moment." Christopher disappeared into the house.
Rosalie followed behind him, leaving me outside, alone.
Why was I always being left myself?
I went back inside and sat in the kitchen, unintentionally listening in to the conversation.
"We need a plan, Carlisle. We can't just attack her without some form of plan!" Emmett muttered.
"Yes, yes, I know."
"Have you called Jacob?" Alice asked.
"I did. He told me he will inform Sam and the rest of them and meet us there." Edward responded.
"Good. So when we get there, the pack will disperse, leaving you, Edward to find out her plan of attack. Then, Alice, you and Jasper can do what you do best." Emmett chuckled.
I heard a gentle thud, "Ow!"
"Sorry, Emmett. But it's what I do best."
I frowned, what in God's name were they all talking about?
"Jacob will distract her, leaving the pack and us with an advantage." Carlisle mumbled.
"Yes, but why Jacob? You know Bella won't agree to this." Rosalie sighed.
"She's just going to have to, love."
I went up to my room and sat in the middle of the bed. What was Christopher's gift? Whatever it was, it didn't work on Rosalie, was that due to me? He said I had managed to protect her, but how? It took all of my concentration and energy.
"Hey."
I glanced up at the door, "Hi."
"Christopher said you did well today." Edward mused, sitting across from me.
I nodded, "He did. But I don't feel like anything happened."
He took my hand gently in his and smiled, "In time, you will be able to control it."
I frowned, staring at our hands.
"What?" Edward whispered.
"I..." I bit my lip, all these emotions were too much for me. "I miss you."
He squeezed my hand, "I miss you." He replied quietly.
"What were you all talking about earlier? A plan of attack? Bringing Jacob into it?"
Edward frowned, paranoia etched in his face, "Victoria." He mumbled, "She's back."
Fuck. "Oh." Was all I could muster, "And you're planning on going after her?"
He didn't answer, he just stared at me.
I nodded, "I want in."
"Bella..." He began but I growled back.
"No, Edward. You're endangering my best friend, you and your family to go against her. She wants me, right?"
"Yes but, you're immortal now. We have no idea how she is going to react when she finds out."
I sighed and closed my eyes, imagining this damn rubber band, expanding and attaching to Edward.
Please, Edward.
I allowed him to see me as a human, scared and fighting for my life because of James. Scared and worried due to Victoria. I allowed him to see my sleepless nights, worrying about him and myself.
Please, she has done so much to me and you in the past. Let me help.
And just like that, it snapped back, leaving me breathless and shielded again.
I opened my eyes, Edward's eyes laced with astonishment, "Bella...how did you..."
I smiled, "Just let me help."
His eyes closed for a fraction of a second, "Okay."
"When is he arriving?" I asked, staring out the window.
"He should be here soon, Edward just called him." Rosalie mumbled.
I nodded, this would be fun.
I looked over at Rosalie who was watching me intently, "What?"
"I just...it'll be hard for him to see you this way." She said.
I smiled, "I know. But he's my bestfriend. He'll get over it."
"Let's hope so."
I nodded and turned back to the window. Would he really be okay?
I stood in the hallway as Edward opened the door to Jake. He nodded at him and stepped inside, stopping short when he spotted me, "Bella." He breathed.
"Hi." I smiled.
He scanned the full length of my body and frowned, shaking his head sadly, "It's hard to see you as one of them." He whispered.
"I'm sorry." What else could I say? I wasn't even sure why I was the one apologising. It wasn't my fault.
Edward escorted Jacob to the lounge where everyone sat patiently.
"So, let's just cut to the chase. You need my help." Jake smirked.
Carlisle nodded, "Yours and the packs."
Jacob nodded and crossed his arms, "Where was she last seen?"
"Her scent was strong outside Bella's father's house and it slowly faded away the closer we got to the reservation." Emmett mumbled.
I chewed my lip. It was best to stay silent in these situations.
Jake and Edward exchanged glances.
"Is Charlie safe?" I asked quietly.
Carlisle smiled at me, "Yes. You have nothing to worry about. He's safe and well."
"Have you seen him since you came back?" Jake asked.
I shook my head, he snorted, "That explains it."
"Explains what?"
"He's a mess, Bells. He's worried sick about you."
I hung my head in silence. Now I felt like shit.
