Heyyyy friends... sorry it's been a while since my last update... I've been stumped on this one, and also busy so I haven't been able to devote much time to brainstorming. Here's a short one for ya, and I promise you won't have to wait that long for the next one. Drop by and leave a review and tell me you forgive me for making you wait :)
Vic
It's been about a week and a half since Walt and I had sex, and I'm trying real hard not to freak out about him freaking out. He's completely normal when it's just the two of us, although we haven't had sex again since that night. He has been a little odd when we're together at work, and I keep telling myself not to take it personally because let's face it, Walt can be an odd man.
I come into the office and find that he's beat me here again this morning. I didn't stay at his place last night or the night before, so we haven't been coming in together. We had dinner at the Pony last night but I had some laundry to do so I went home alone. I can tell he's not sure yet how to seamlessly switch from being friends to more than friends, so I'm trying to give him a little space.
The key word here is "trying."
I set my stuff down at my desk and say hi to Ruby as I fill up my mug of coffee before I wander into his office. I stop in the doorway and lean against the frame. I don't say anything but wait for him to look up at me.
"Good morning," he smiles lightly. God, he looks good.
"Morning," I smile back before taking a sip of my steaming hot coffee.
"How was your night last night?"
"Lonely." I answer honestly.
He begins to grin, but only slightly. "Did you finish all your laundry?"
"Yes."
"Good," he says as he nods his head.
"That means I'm free tonight."
He stares at me for a moment. "Yeah?"
"Mmhmm."
"Good to know." He smiles lightly and goes back to read the files on his desk.
I move from the doorway and around to his desk and sit on the edge right in front of him. He tries to act like he doesn't see me so I scoot a little closer to him and invade his space. He puts a hand lightly on my leg.
"Vic," he cautions.
"Yes, dear?"
"We're at work."
"I'm well aware of where we are."
"We need to be professional here, Vic."
I stare down at him, momentarily defeated. I set my coffee down next to me and turn around to yell towards the front office.
"Hey Ruby, I'm about to give the Sheriff a good morning kiss, is that appropriate?"
Without missing a beat, Ruby yells back. "Fine by me!"
I turn back to look at Walt and Ruby calls out again. "Tell him good morning from me, too!"
I can't help but laugh, and I see a smile forming on his lips before I lean down and kiss him. It's just a quick peck, and then I pull back and look at him for a moment. He looks a little frustrated with me, but he doesn't push me away. I lean down again and kiss him again, with a little more intensity this time.
When I pull away, I keep my face close to his as I take a deep breath.
"Good morning, Sheriff." I smile and rest my forehead against his; we stay like that for a minute.
When I pull back I can see that he has a little of my lip gloss on his face. I wipe it off with my finger.
"That was quite the good morning," he mutters.
"The first one was from Ruby. The tongue was from me." I wink at him, grab my coffee and strut back to my desk.
The rest of the morning is busy with a number of odd calls. Later, Ferg goes to the Busy Bee and grabs us all lunch. Walt and I eat ours in his office as we discuss theories on our current case.
After we're done eating, I come around to the side of his desk and gather up the trash and combine it all into one bag. "Thank you," he says as he hands me a wrapper.
"You're welcome." I look behind me down the hallway and can see Ruby at her desk. Ferg's out there too, and while I can't see him from here, I can at least see that he's not walking in here at the moment. I lean down towards Walt and give him a tender kiss. When I pull my head back, I run my hand through his hair as he stares up at me.
"Can I come over tonight?"
He sighs lightly. "Vic, we shouldn't be doing this here."
"What, making plans?"
"No, I mean the kissing."
"Oh relax, nobody was coming in here. I checked first."
"That's not point, it's unprofessional. What if someone else saw us? Someone from the public?"
I let out an exaggerated sigh. "They wouldn't, Walt. It's not like we were making out, it was one quick kiss."
"You kissed me this morning, too."
I grin as I remember. That was a good kiss.
"What are you gonna do, fire me?"
He almost rolls his eyes at me. "I'm being serious, Vic. If this is going to work, we need to keep things professional at the office. I don't want anybody thinking I'm playing favorites over here."
"Well I damn well better be your favorite, you've seen me naked." I grin and I see him blush instantly.
He stares back at me, momentarily at a loss for words.
"Look, I'm sorry. I'll try to limit my affection for you here at work." He starts to interrupt me, I'm sure to scold my use of the word 'try,' but I cut him off. "But do you know how many times I've wanted to kiss you this past year? …There's been something between us for a long time but since I was married, neither of us could act on it. So I'm sorry, but I am done denying myself happiness, Walt. If I feel like kissing you, I'm going to kiss you."
He looks back at me, scrunches his mouth up on one side as he considers me. He's quiet for a few moments, and then he simply says, "You're stubborn."
This makes me smile, and I have to hold myself back because I really want to kiss him again. "Get used to it."
I grab the bag of trash and head for my desk. Once I get to the doorway of his office I stop and turn back towards him. "Don't make any plans tonight, I'm coming over." I don't wait for a response before I turn and start walking away from him.
"You're also bossy," he calls out after me.
"You're gonna have to get used that, too," I reply without turning back.
