Disclaimer: Ditto earlier chapter.

Thanks to everyone who suggested interview ideas, you really helped me out! Heaven is a bookshop deserves multiple cookies. This is just Tessa'sand then Jace's interview. Next chapter is Izzy and Alec. Chapter after is Gabriel(?), Clary and Johnathon.

Thanks goes to a guest for suggesting a lot, but mentioning only them here because they suggested a Jace idea: Jace being all Jace like, maybe blurting somthing random out to the whole [crowd?]- I took inspiration from this and it's Ceaser who drops the bomb on the audience (and Jace).

MASSIVE SPOLIER AHEAD! JACE'S SURNAME! HIS REAL BLOOD HERITAGE IN TMI! ONLY READ THE CHAPTER BELOW IF YOU KNOW/WANT TO FIND OUT!

Tessa vaguely remembered Maia's interview, where she asks if something can't be done about the situation, that surely the President didn't anticipate such a bond forming between the Capitol and the tributes. Tessa was only attentive to the second half of Simon's interview, her mind had been elsewhere for the interview of his district partner.

"So, Simon, you seem pretty confident. Are you prepared?" Ceaser asked.

Simon pushed up his glasses. "Well of course. It's not like someone from district three hasn't won before. If the arena contains water I'll definitely have an advantage if there's a wire at the Cornucopia." He grinned. "And if that fails, we'll have to rely on the male tribute for district four's hair dye growing out, he won't get many sponsors then."

Ceaser and a lot of the audience laughed.

The buzzer went, so Simon was to leave. Tessa froze. It was her turn.

Jace squeezed her shoulder. "Good luck." He muttered. "And remember you're face."

Tessa quickly looked into the mirror and thought about what Finnick had told her, watching her eyes become a mixture of emotions despite her alert posture and warm smile.

Tessa realised that Ceaser had called her name and hurried up the steps onto the stage, hastilly wiping her sweaty palms on her dress.

Ceaser's smile was wide, showing his large, white teeth. "So, Tessa." He said with a bright smile, shaking her hand, having the kindness to not immediately wipe his hands on his suit. "I think we'd better start straight away. When you came out in the opening ceremony, I think we were all breathtaken. What did you think of that costume?"

Tessa looked at the man in front of her and he changed to Jem, the easiest person she could talk to. Then she did what she always did with Jem. She was honest. "Well, if I'm honest, I was thinking more about Jace's costume. Or lack of it, as the case was."

Tessa vaguely registered that the audience were laughing. She saw Camille, Jem, Will, Maia and district three sitting on the front row.

Ceaser nodded. "What about before that?"

Tessa looked further into the audience and saw him. Magnus Bane, the cat-man who'd designed her outfit tonight as well as the one in the tribute parade. Yes, her stylist tonight had been different. But the dress on her body was Magnus' design. "Well, I… I thought my costume was beautiful. I looked like a charcter from a childrens tale. It was the most gorgeous costume I'd ever seen and I couldn't believe I was wearing it. I can't believe I'm wearing this either." Tessa said lifting up he skirt. "I mean look at it!"

The audience oohed and ahhed. Magnus made the tiniest circular motion with his finger. The message was clear. Twirl.

Tessa stood slowly and spun in a circle once. The audience gasped. "Oh, do that again!" Ceaser said.

Tessa oblidged, turning around and around, feeling the fabric move and the air hit her legs. Whether she was dizzy or whether it was some design on the dress she was unsure, but there was white dots in her vision. Tessa stopped spinning and sat down.

Ceaser looked impressed. "That deserves a slow motion replay!" He said.

Tessa turned to face the screen behind her, awestruck, as the dress truly came alive. The violet-blue swirled angrily whilst the silver-white danced and shimmered. Gold showered down from her hair, turning into shells woven into the dress, Tessa's hair now loose and down to her shoulder blades.

The audience burst into applause and cheers. "Oh, I think only one person can be responsible for this design." Ceaser said. "MAGNUS BANE, TAKE A BOW!" His voice called out through to the audience. The cat-man stood and took an extravagent bow.

Finally, the audience stopped cheering, clapping and calling.

"Now…" Ceaser began, gently patting Tessa's leg. She tried not to flinch. "As much as we love your stunning dress, we've got to get down to the serious things. What was it like, to be reaped?"

"Well…" Tessa began, then swallowed. How did she begin this? She caught eyes with her ex-stylist, who drew a finger from his eye down his cheek, miming tears. The message was, yet again, simple. Make us cry. "It was horrible." She admitted, putting as much sorrow into her voice as was possible. "If it were any other time I'd have cried. But this time, I wanted to refuse it was happening. The quell. The new rules. The tributes. If I don't get killed I doubt I'll be voted as a favourite." Make us cry. "But to be honest, if I don't get out, I don't care."

"And why is that?" Ceaser asked her.

Tessa left 3 seconds of silence. "Because I have no one to get out for."

The audience was silent, save for a few sniffles.

"Jace was the closest thing I have to family and… he came here with me." Tessa gave a shiver as a thought crept it's way up her spine. "He could be the one to kill me. He could be the one to die for me, to throw himself in front of a monster or a blade."

"So you're worried." Ceaser said, giving an understanding nod and his face with sympathy. Most of the audience were crying.

"Not for me." Tessa said. "For Jace. He has a chance of getting out alive and he and I both know it. He's been ready for this his whole life, but he wasn't anitcipating me. I don't know how he'd react if he got out. Because, like me, he'd have no one left. I came in with Jace. Will came in with Jem. Isabelle came in with Alexander. And not only may we all die, but this time, the Capitol chooses who lives. They're the ones to break the bond."

The buzzer sounded. Tessa inwardly gave a small smile. The buzzer couldn't've sounded at a better time. That last sentence would be sinking in now.

"You know him as Jace Wayland!" Ceaser called and Jace bounded up onto the stage, to the screams and claps and whistles of the audience.

Good. Jace thought. They like me.

"So-" Ceaser said as soon as Jace sat down.

"Sorry, Ceaser, but can I interrupt and say that my hair is natural? My eyes are too, for the record." Jace said, glaring at the district three boy in the audience, who were laughing. Camille, Maia, Tessa and district three included, oddly enough. Jem and Will were discussing something, their eyes never leaving Jace.

"Well, you, Jem and Finnick could have a little club going." Ceaser noted. "Gold, Silver and Bronze."

The cameras found Jem, who smiled and good-naturedly waved the attention back to Jace.

"You know, Jace, Tessa said quite a lot back there." Ceaser commented.

Jace smirked. "Try living with her. You never get a moments silence."

A rumble of laughter sounded through the audience, but it had sorrow beneath it, they were remembering Tessa's answer and were still upset, perhaps even more so if they still hadn't recovered from Jem and Will's interview. They set the theme for us, Jace thought. They set sorrow because the stronger tributes wouldn't want to appear weak, so they'd be cocky. If they're cocky, they won't get the right feeling from the viewers because the viewers are too upset to laugh. If you don't feel for a tribute you don't sponsor them. No sponsors and you die.

Jem's words interrupted his thoughts. If you want us to help you get Tessa out, me and Will need to make an impression, especially with our odds.

He was true to his word. Capitol people's hearts were torn from Jem and Will's interview. They'd continued to tear from Tessa's. Jace had to do the same and rely on Isabelle and Alec to finish it. To split the idea of the games.

"But is it all true?" Ceaser asked.

Jace looked down. "Of course it is. Tessa's the closest thing I have to family." He said, trying to make his voice sound sad.

"Ah." Ceaser said knowingly. "That's where you're wrong."

Jace tensed. "What?" He asked, his voice low and serious.

"You have someone closer than Tessa." Ceaser said slowly, using the pauses to increase the tension. "You have someone related to you by blood. Someone who is in this audience right now. Someone coming into the games with you."

Time froze for about ten seconds, before Jace asked the question he knew he had to ask. "Who is it?"

Ceaser paused for exactly ten seconds, too. The buzzer sounded.

No, Jace thought. It hasn't been three minutes. It hasn't even been two.

"And that's all we have time for with you!" Ceaser said. "GIVE IT UP FOR JACE HERONDALE!"

There was clapping and cheering until Ceaser's words finally sunk in to the audience, who ceased clapping. Jace had understood long before that and had locked eyes with Will.

Jem too had immediately understood, but had frozen in shock, his silver eyes wide. Will's eyes had hardened and his jaw had tightened. But Jace could see the worry lurking in his eyes. Will hadn't known. He gave an imperceptible shake of his head. Go, he mouthed.

Jace stood and left, too shocked to speak.
