Chapter Twenty~
Across the street from the SHIELD headquarters, the Avengers along with Director Fury and Mya are greeted by Thor who after landing from the portal calls,
"Good to see you again my friends!" Director Fury stepped over to him saying,
"Do you have any proof of those Stones then?"
"Indeed," Thor says taking out a rolled piece of parchment from inside his cape to hand to him saying,
"This is a copy of oldest record of the Infinity Stones and there powers. The locations sadly are not written and Father is still gathering information as where they had been seen last." opening up the parchment Director Fury sees six drawings of stones each with a different color and name corresponding to that stone then a brief description of each.
"Father gave me a severe warning that if all are found by the wrong foe; all Nine Realms could be in horrible danger." Thor says before looking as if he'd forgotten something so from under his cape gets out a necklace; a silver chain with a crystal rune on it which he hands to Mya.
"And Mother wished for you to have this." he says as she takes it from him turning the rune over—it's the rune Dagaz. Mya can feel the power coming off it and so puts it around her neck as Thor continues,
"Father also did indeed say that the Tesseract is one of the few only known ways to find the Stones. But since that is no longer an option,"
"And why's that?" Director Fury said since technically they still had it to use and under lock and key. Thor turns to him looking deadly serious as he states,
"Father, seeing that you still are in possession of the Cube removed the spell for anyone to locate the Stones with it."
"But that screws us over! How are WE supposed to find them without that damn thing?" Tony snaps only Mya who's been silent the whole time says,
"Because each Stone can find another," then looking up she asks Thor,
"Wasn't it said that each Stone was able to at least point the owner of whatever Stone they had in the right direction to find the others?"
"Aye tis true, and Father also said that. Now all we need to do is find one of the six and use whichever one we find to locate the others." Thor says giving her a smile only Director Fury cuts in with,
"Oh yeah? And how are we supposed to do that?"
"Let Loki help." both Mya and Thor say almost at the exact same time only everyone else glares at them as if to say 'no damn way'.
"I wish to speak with my Brother none the less." Thor states so that Director Fury, weary of the situation as it is, agrees and waves for him to follow. Mya's about to go back into the building when she's stopped by Tony wondering,
"And just how did you know that the Stones can find each other?" chewing her lower lip, Mya has to think quickly so that she says not turning around,
"Loki told me."
"When?" Steve presses so that Mya exhales running a hand through her hair as she says,
"Does it matter?"
"Actually yes, he's dangerous Mya you can't just trust him blindly." Natasha says going over to stand in front of Mya so that she glares up at Natasha saying,
"It's not blind judgment Natasha, he earned it."
"And how'd he do that?" Clint says so that Mya annoyed growls out,
"What is this twenty questions?!" when no one answers she throws her hands up in the air and storms off back into the headquarters leaving everyone to exchange glances of worry.
"JARVIS was able to pull up some more info on Project Nine," Bruce begins waving for everyone to step closer as he continues,
"Apparently whatever they're looking for they haven't found it yet, that's why the project is still open. They're not looking for the Stones though, there's no mention of them anywhere."
"Then what are they looking for?" Steve asks but both Bruce and Tony can only shrug before they all decided to go back inside. Meanwhile Mya has followed Director Fury and Thor to see Loki having been able to convince him for a brief visit with him.
"As long as he doesn't try anything stupid." Director Fury said extremely unhappy with the whole idea of her being there at all. And so they enter Loki's residence finding him trying to watch TV lounging on the sofa dressed casually but upon seeing those turns the thing off.
"What news do you bring?" Loki asks standing up and putting his hands behind his back before glancing at Mya who has the necklace on.
"Father was able to give the Director a copy of the oldest records on the Stones. He also removed the spell that would allow us to use the Tesseract to find the others, though Father did mention that one Stone is able to find the other—but not easily." Loki nods saying with a tilt of his head,
"True, the Other is in possession of the Mind Gem and Thanos the Power Gem. We were able to get ahold of at least the Mind Gem we could start the process of searching for the others."
"And how do you purpose we do this then?" Director Fury asks not liking how calm Loki is as he beings to pace on the floor eyes darting as he thinks.
"We need to get the Other's attention—draw him out of hiding. We need to challenge him," Loki begins only Director Fury stops him there saying,
"Oh hell no, I'm not about to challenge an extraterrestrial being to another war."
"Not a war per say but a challenge, he needs to think he can win." Loki states calmly turning back around to face them as Thor catches on to his line of thinking.
"With all of us we would have a chance." he says so that Loki nods only Director Fury puts both hands up saying,
"A chance isn't going to make me agree to this, I want to know we'll win."
"That is like asking if your race has ever known that any of you would win a war." Loki states raising an eyebrow as Director Fury frowns and crosses his arms. Sensing the rising tension, Mya steps forward asking Loki,
"What did you have in mind?" he grins at her saying as he waves his hand so that dozens of his clones appear.
"I have magic on my side, you Director have the Avengers. If you still do not believe me or Thor on the matter of the power of the Stones then that is your only folly." Director Fury narrows his eyes to slits as he says in a mocking tone,
"You still think that I'll let you help."
"I can sense magic like Banner and Stark was able to find the Tesseract with their equipment. There is no tool, machine or any other form of device you mortals have that can do that. Unless you have a better idea." Loki challenges crossing his arms to mimic Director Fury who's going over every scenario he can. He hates all of them but has to do something.
"If you think I'm gonna give you freedom to run amuck around the planet in search of these Stones your dead wrong Loki."
"I cannot locate them from just sitting here." Loki says waving around the place but Director Fury snorts saying as he turns to leave,
"Then figure out a way how." then he's leaving so that Thor and Mya have no choice but to follow. Only Loki quickly grabs Mya's arm and whispers,
"We start your training tonight."
