"Swift, have you managed to track down the squirrel heroine?" Carlos asked his communications man.
"I'm working on it, I'm using the tracers Roach installed under the police cars to try and track all possible locations, since I've been unable to hack into their radio frequency yet." Swift said as he sat at a laptop typing in commands, as he tired to find the injured heroines location.
"Check the hospitals, she was injured tonight, and our spy who was undercover at the Burger King reported that she re-injured her knee, so check to see if any police cars went to a hospital." Carlos ordered Swift, who proceeded to nod and type in commands, and after a few minutes a red dot started blinking at a nearby hospital, and that made Swift smile.
"I've got her, should we send some of our boys after her?" Swift asked Carlos.
"I think that's a great idea, let's do this." Carlos said, and that made Swift grin, for their revenge would be close to being complete once the squirrel heroines head was on a pike.
"Check..." Swift whispered once everyone had left the room.
"How long do you want me to stay for?" SG asked the nurse.
"Just for tonight, we want to make sure you're healing properly, but don't worry, you will be free to go tomorrow morning." the nurse said with a smile as she walked out of the room.
"I could be out helping in the fight against these now heavily armed gangs, but instead I'm here sitting on my ass doing nothing." SG grumbled to Jim, who could be found sitting in a chair next to her hospital bed.
"It's for the better that you heal properly, as opposed to rushing your recovery, a healed Squirrel Girl is a better protecting Squirrel Girl." Jim said confidently, and that made SG smile as well.
"Thanks for the support Jim, you saved my ass tonight." SG said in an appreciative tone, which made the police captain nod.
"I'm just doing my job, and so are you, we both might not always see eye to eye, but we both want to protect Los Angeles." Jim said as he took a sip of coffee.
"Agreed, we both want to protect our home, and the people we love." SG said simply as she thought about her parents and her squirrels, as well as the people whom she had saved upon moving back from New York.
"On that we are in agreement," Jim said with a tired sigh, "I'm going to the vending machine fro a snack, want seething?" he asked the tired squirrel heroine.
"If they have any, can you get me some peanuts?" she asked the captain.
"Sure thing, I was in the mood for that myself." he said with a smile as he walked out of the hospital room.
"Here's the mission boys, Squirrel Girl is located somewhere in this hospital, Carlos and Pablo want her dead, so go in their and focus on the mission, kill Squirrel Girl, but bring her body with you, we want to make it obvious to the police and the city that we mean business, and nothing sends a clearer message than a dead body." Swift said through a laptop that was in the back of the van parked in the hospital parking lot.
"There are going to be a lot of witnesses, what are the rules of engagement?" the lead gang member asked Swift through the laptop.
"Do what you have to do, and boys... use of deadly force had been authorized." Swift informed the assassins as the laptop went black, and the assassin gang members smiled and loaded magazines into their silenced handguns and rifles, it was hunting season, and Squirrel Girl was the target.
"Here's your snack." Jim said as he tossed a small bag of peanuts to SG, which she snagged out of mid air with her right hand, quickly opened the bag, and popped a nut into her mouth.
"Thanks Jim, need to recharge my energy, and squirrels love peanuts." SG said with a laugh, and that made Jim laugh as well.
Suddenly a noise reached SG's enhanced hearing, and it was a noise she recognized instantly.
"Jim, there's gunfire downstairs!" she said in a panicked tone, and that made Jim look at her.
"You sure, I don't hear anything." Jim said as he tried to listen to all possible noises.
"It's surprised, but my enhanced hearing can pick it up, plus I had training with suppressed firearms at the Academy in New York." SG said as she tried to get up from bed, only to have her knee buckle, and Jim caught her mid fall, and sat her back on her bed.
"I'll take care of this," Jim said as he reached into his pocket for his cell phone, only to have a busy signal on his phone, "phone lines dead, seems we are on our own." Jim said as he drew his handgun from his holster.
"What do you want me to do, captain?" SG asked, even though she was weak and in pain, she thought about still trying to fight.
Before Jim could answer, a new voice came over the hospitals PA system, "Squirrel Girl, we know you are in here, surrender now, or we will execute a hostage every ten minutes until you surrender, attempt to fight, and we will execute a hostage, we are waiting for you on this first floor, and don't bother trying to call the police, we have jammed all communication systems, so you are on your own." the voice said before the PA turned off.
"Shit, what do we do?" Jim asked as he tried to think of a plan, but Squirrel Girl answered before he could think of a plan.
"Give me to them, we can't attempt to fight, at least not while they have hostages, if you give me to them, they'll let everyone go, since I'm who they want." SG said in a defeated tone, it might be her time to die, but at least she would save countless lives in the hospital.
Jim was left with a dilemma, fight, and risk countless lives, or hand over the heroine who had saved the day countless times. What should he do?
What do you think he should do is the big question, please tell me what you think.
