Saffron North, 11
Wow. Are you seriously kidding me? This Training Center is… HUGE. Seriously. It's nearly as big as Eleven itself, and we're one of the biggest districts.
There was a section for swimming, for combat, for fire-making, for knot-tying. I want to try them all, honestly. These are super cool.
First off, I head to the plant identification station. I check out some herbs and fruits first before the trainer there just lets me take over. He tosses fruits and plants into the air carelessly and I name them- and whether or not they're poisonous.
"Black root fern- not poisonous and good for sore throats blended into tea!"
"Rue, not poisonous but not very useful!"
"Aga-aga branch, very poisonous unless steamed and mushed up."
"Skippershaum, very useful as a salad leaf."
"Steve's Liquority, not very poisonous and used to make a strong liquor!"
Of the three-hundred, I only miss two- some toadlily thing I've never seen, and some common zebra grass. But that's only because it didn't throw into the air well.
Next stop, I go to the archery station. There's the guy from Four there, befuddled as how to string the bow. I learn how to within minutes, but my aim is terrible. I try my hand at axe-throwing and simple parrying, but the axe makes distance between itself and the target- at least four feet. Discouraged, I head for the sword-fighting station. There, a metallic but unreal figurine fights with me, sword-to-sword. It turns out that if we were fighting for real, I'd get a few jabs in my stomach and I'd have no arms or left hip.
Fun. I think I'll head back to the plant station.

After just an hour, I find out that I'm decent at tying snares but excellent at bow and arrow. Great! I also can throw an axe pretty well. My weaknesses are hand-to-hand combat, though, and I cannot lift much. If the arena has only maces, I will die for sure. But here, I have a chance. Here, I think that I could win this Games. Here, I will fight till the end. Here I have a chance.

In the Training Center, there's no room for weakness. It's move or die. And move I do. I easy behead tens of dummies single-handedly, and a few moving targets are pinned to the wall with my bow skills. I crack a grin- perfect.
I'm just about to rip the stuffing out of a dummy when I feel a few sets of eyes on me. I turn around. It's the duo from Nine, Hydrangea and Roland.
"What do you want?" I hiss at them from behind gritted teeth. I slink up to them and Hydrangea cowers. "You two will be my FIRST kills." And with that, I grab a long knife for emphasis and slash through a dummy's stomach. He falls to the ground, in half. Roland and his partner gulp in unison. I watch them walk away.

The Training Center
It's a really insane place
So many weapons.
I just watched Careers
Slashing stuffing from dummies
Now I'm really scared.
I'm less than five foot
But you've just gotta admit
I'm good with an axe.
I failed making knots
Slashing swords are not my type
I am in trouble.
I'm decent at knives
My head stays above water
These are other skills.
Last haiku today
Just saying, I'm really scared
I don't want to die!
A/N: YAY! I got a chapter in before bed. Night night ;)
