Hayley's POV

I didn't know what to do next. It's not like there was a step by step guide for this weird place. I just had to contact Joe, ask him what happened and leave. But something told me this wouldn't be that easy.

Everyone was staring at me. Some were pointing at me and whispering to each other. Apparently, hadn't taught them any manners. Suddenly, I felt a chill and heard a voice right by my side.

"You alive" a woman stated "But you're here"

"I can explain" I began, but everyone had already begun to surround us

"I can explain for you. You're a banshee, no other breathing person can enter this realm"

"Well yes, you are correct-"

"You're one of the only of your kind left" she continued "your people have been almost completely wiped out"

"Yes I am aware"

"But you are terrible at your job" she snapped "So many of us are stuck, unable to find peace because you won't do what you were destined to"

"If you mean find the murderers of people who have died then I'm sorry, I'm not really sure I can. I'm pregnant and extremely busy with other stuff. I am also the Queen of the Were-"

"It's not like you actually make an effort to make their life any better. You're a terrible Queen as well"

"I have bought building for them to live in. I have organised jobs so they have a proper lifestyle. All I need is the potion and-"

"What potion? It's been months"

"How do you know all of this?" I asked

"I know all of this because I was a werewolf too. A werewolf killed by the vampires on the night of the full moon. On the night we were supposed to be our strongest"

"That's enough Betty, leave the girl alone. It's not like anyone taught her how to be any of these things" another, older woman said.

"Listen, I really don't have time. I need help finding someone, his name is Joe. He only died a few hours ago-"

"Honey there are millions of Joes here. And Jacks and Jills and Jeremies too. It's not a library for you to pick a book out of-"

"You don't understand, I need to find his murderer. The man I love is being accused and-"

"If the man you love is Klaus Mikaelson then he probably did it-"

"How did you-"

"I'm a witch. I come from a family of witches. We see things even after we have said our goodbyes to the world. I also know that you spoke to my sister a while back"

"I'm sorry, you'll have to be a bit more clear about who your sister is"

"An old fortune teller, she read your fortune, but you didn't believe her"

I remembered the old woman I spoke to. Was she her sister?

"I died a while back, so my sister is pretty old by now"

"Oh, well that's fascinating but every minute I spend here turns to hours outside. I need to leave"

"Okay then, I will help you seek this Joe"

We started walking in a different direction, through a crowd of people who were screaming and begging me to help them. I shut my eyes and quickly walked past.

Klaus' POV

I was sitting in my art room, staring at all the blank canvases when suddenly my door flew open and Rebekah walked in.

"Niklaus we must talk" she ordered

"Fine, talk then" I replied coldly

"It has been hours since Hayley left to speak with you. The sun is up, it's midday, you're here, where is she?"

"She probably stayed at Marcel's place" I suggested

"I asked him, none of them have seen her ever since she left"

She looked at my with suspicion

"Are you suggesting I killed her too?" I asked calmly

"I don't know. I don't think you would"

"You are right, I wouldn't and I haven't. I would never hurt Hayley"

"Yes, you're right, I'm sorry"

Rebekah started complaining to herself and left the room. I was trying to keep my calm and not interfere, but I couldn't help but get worried. Could something really have happened to her?

I tried calling her phone but she didn't pick up. The last place I saw her was the rooftop, so I decided to check there. I grabbed my jacket and headed for the door when I heard it open and Rebekah exclaim.

"Hayley!" she yelled "What is she doing with you?"

I got to the door and saw Caroline holding an unconscious Hayley. I sped to her and picked her up.

"I tried waking her up but she isn't responsive" Caroline said "She has been like that for a while I think"

"What was she doing with you?" I asked in fury, assuming Caroline did something

"She wasn't with me, I went to our, to a rooftop to say goodbye to New Orleans for good when I found her collapsed on the floor like this. I tried waking her up but as I said before, I failed. So I decided to bring her here instead" she explained

I took her to the couch and lay her down. She was cold.

"You were leaving New Orleans?" Rebekah asked Caroline

"Yes, I don't think I have a reason to stay anymore"

"What used to be your reason Caroline, except a made up story about being in danger?" Rebekah asked in a bitchy tone

Caroline didn't answer, she just looked up into my eyes. I tore away from her stare and knelt by Hayley again.

Hayley's POV

"You need to shut your eyes and think of him very clearly. Think of his name, his appearance, his everything. You need to lure him to yourself. When you feel concentrated enough, say his name in a luring way so he comes to you" the woman explained "that's how all the other banshees used to do it"

I nodded and did as I was told. I thought about long and clear and finally uttered the word "Joe". I opened my eyes but no one was there.

"Did I do it wrong?" I asked and the woman shrugged "But I did concentrate, I really did"

"You didn't do it wrong Hayley" Joe, who suddenly appeared in front of me, whispered

"Joe, Joe I am so sorry" I said as tears filled up my eyes "I am so sorry this happened to you"

"Hayley I know why you are here, and I have to warn you, its not who you think it is"

"What? How did you-"

"He killed me and he told me I'm only dying because Klaus Mikaelson is a bad man, because he has to be framed and I was the ideal victim"

I felt as if the ground was pulled from below my feet. It wasn't Klaus after all. I was ecstatic because he was finally guilt free, but I was also panicky because now I had to make up to Klaus for everything.

"Who was it?" I asked as I got myself together

"I don't know his name, but he was a Hybrid, that's for sure"

Right at that moment I understood it all. Everything that I should have understood beforehand. It wasn't Klaus who killed Joe and he wasn't the only one capable of such a murder. It was the only other Hybrid on earth. It was Tyler.

"You need to leave now Hayley, time flows differently here" he warned "Leave and take care"

"I will make him pay Joe, I promise you"

"I'm sure you will, I have faith in you"

I took a deep breath and woke up finally back in my own world. I was panting as I looked around to see Klaus, Rebekah and Caroline by my side. Caroline?

"Hayley are you alright?" Rebekah asked as she helped me sit up "I've been worried sick"

"Why am I not on the rooftop?" I asked confusedly "Who brought my here?" I looked at Klaus, expecting it to be him

"It was me, I found you lying unconscious on the rooftop and thought something was wrong so I brought you here" Caroline explained

"You?" I asked

"Yes, yes me" she replied

"Well, now that you're alright I'll get back to my own business" Klaus suddenly said out of the blue and started walking to the stairs

"Don't you want to know what happened to me?" I asked which made him stop "I spoke to Joe, I know who killed him"

He turned around to look into my tear soaked eyes

"Well? What did you find out?" Rebekah asked impatiently

"It wasn't Klaus. Klaus was framed by someone"

Klaus didn't smile or cheer. He simply looked into my eyes, trying to say "I told you so"

"It was Tyler" I continued

Klaus nodded and turned his back to me as he started going up the stairs. He was ignoring me, and I couldn't take it.

I stood up and hurried after him. I caught him before he went into his art room and forced him to look at me

"I'm so sorry Nik" I began saying through sobs "You were right, you were right it wasn't you, I should I have believed you I just-"

"You're right, you should have" he uttered and tried to go inside again

"Klaus listen to me, I am in more pain than you can imagine. I don't want to lose you"

"Don't you get it Hayley? You already have lost me. It's over"

He pushed me aside and went in shutting and locking the door behind him. I started knocking on the door so he would open it but he didn't even come close. I was crying uncontrollably by now, my hormones making it worse. I slammed myself against the door but it would move. I finally let myself go and slid to the ground, sitting by the door, blaming myself. I couldn't believe it was all over.

I grabbed onto the doorknob and helped myself up. Sitting there was no use, I had to think of a way to get him back. As I headed for the stairs I heard a crash come from Klaus' room. He must have broken something.

Klaus' POV

I grabbed the empty canvas and threw it against the wall as my anger bottled up inside of me. I had never, in a thousand years, thought hating someone would be this hard and painful. All I wanted to do was to open the door and let her in, but I couldn't let myself be used this way. It was wrong.

I heard her go down the stairs and sighed in relief. I had no idea how long it would take us to get together, or if we ever will, but I knew I was tired, really tired of trying to be a better man.

I walked to the window and looked out. As expected she had left the house, but she was followed by Caroline. I gently opened the window so I heard what they were talking about.

"Hayley!" Caroline called out "Can we talk for a minute"

She turned around dramatically and threw her hair back, her fury splashing from her eyes in tears

"What would we have to talk about?" she snapped

"About Klaus"

"About Klaus? As far as I'm concerned he told you to stay away from him and you will do so, so we don't really have much to discuss"

"That is true, and I was going to leave this town, but that's only because I love him still. Thus I'd like to have a normal relationship with you too, because you're carrying his child"

"And because I am his girlfriend" Hayley replied almost immediately

"No, I don't really think you are at the moment"

Hayley didn't say anything. She just stared at Caroline with hateful eyes. Suddenly, she started shrieking and attacking Caroline, who had fallen on the floor while her hands shut her ear. Hayley had started pulling her hair and making a scene. I had to put an end to this.

I opened the door to see Rebekah over Hayley trying to persuade her to stop. I walked up to them and pushed Rebekah aside, simply shut Hayley's mouth with my palm and dragged her to the side. She calmed down when she realised it was me. I left her there and walked back towards Caroline and helped her up. She was bleeding from her ears and was almost unconscious.

"Almost a second longer and she would have died" I said with no eye contact

"Would have served her right" she replied

"No it wouldn't" I said, this time with full eye contact "You're behaving like an ungrateful bitch. Control yourself. She was trying to make peace"

"So you're on her side?" she asked childishly

"There are no sides here Hayley. You're wrong, that is all"

Hayley's POV

I stood there staring at him in shock. He assisted Caroline back inside and left me there, ashamed. Was this how Klaus Mikaelson treated the people he hates?

6 days later

I was keen to get Klaus back, no matter what it took. He hadn't been visiting the house lately, but this didn't make me weak. I knew he came into my room when I slept and checked the baby, but he showed me no sign of affection. I had decided to turn this around. This morning I had made him breakfast, just like he did for me, because I knew he came home last night. I was going to win him back slowly but completely.

I knocked on his door but there was no answer. I raised my hand to knock again but suddenly his door opened and we clashed into each other. I hadn't been so close to him in a while. I breathed in his scent but he stepped back.

"What is it? Is something wrong with the baby?" he asked quickly

"No, I just, I made you breakfast and thought maybe we could eat together and talk-"

"I can't I'm busy" he said and left without another word.

I couldn't help the tears that bottled up inside me. The pregnancy made it worse. I ran into my room and shut the door so I could cry in privacy. The last thing I needed was a witness of my weakness.

Klaus' POV

I hardly walked away from her and hurried out. I had missed her so much, it was hard to stand still next to her.

When I arrived to the bar Caroline was already there, waiting for me. She had stayed in town because I had insisted, also because I had felt that she wasn't telling me everything.

I sat down opposite her and ordered a scotch.

"Caroline, thank you for returning"

"I pretty much had to" she replied "There are so many stuff happening that even you Klaus Mikaelson don't know about. This time I really am safer in this town by your side"

"So you admit that you lied last time?" I asked

"Again, it's far too complicated, but I need you to give me someone who can protect me, maybe a bodyguard or something"

I rolled my eyes and waited for her to explain her story once again.

Hayley's POV

I ran into my room and shut the door so I could cry in privacy. The last thing I needed was a witness of my weakness. But when I turned my face towards my bed I was startled by a figure sitting on it so I screamed.

It was Elijah

"Calm down Hayley, I just wanted to talk to you that is all" he comforted me "I didn't mean to startle you"

"I know I just didn't expect anyone. What did you want to talk about?" I asked as I wiped my tears

"We must speak Hayley, you know, about your tendencies to obsess over either my brother or finding Tyler" he stated "I worry about my niece or nephew"

"I know, I'm not a great mother" I said as tears started flowing again "I just want to do normal stuff but I can't" I wailed as I lay down on my bed

"Why can't you? What are these normal things you speak of anyway?"

"Like, when I'm distraught, I used to always go out bowling to cheer me up" I stated as I sat up again

"Why don't you go now?" he asked

"Marcel is busy, Davina and I aren't on the best of terms and Rebekah thinks bowling is stupid"

"Why don't I take you? We take Alison too"

"She won't come"

"Well then I'll go anyway"

"Do you bowl?" I asked as the conversation started to interest me

"No, I haven't tried actually"

"In a thousand years, you haven't gone bowling?"

"I'll learn for heaven's sake Hayley" he exclaimed

"Fine, let's give it a go then. I'll call Alison on the way"

To my surprise, Alison actually agreed to go.

Alison's POV

"Tyler you won't believe it, Hayley decided to go out bowling with Elijah, and now she's teaching him, and they're super close-" I said to him on the phone

"Are they being romantic?" he asked immediately

"No, but you'd think they are if you were to see them out of context" I replied "Did you manage to spot Caroline?"

"Yes, she's with Klaus at Sophie's bar"

"She is? Oh my god I have to take Hayley there. She'll explode"

"Why don't you send some photos of those two to Klaus so he'll explode as well?

"That was exactly what I intended to do my dear Tyler. Anyway, keep an eye out for them and let me know if they change their venue. Oh, and make sure you're hidden"

"Sure boss"

I hung up and turned my camera on. To my luck, they were giving the best poses as Hayley taught Elijah how to bowl.

Hayley's POV

"Dear Lord Elijah! You're a vampire, your instincts should be able to make you a good bowler"

"I guess I'm not built for it" he said with a smile

"I'm sick of this place, lets go have a drink somewhere" Alison suggested

"But the game isn't over yet!" I protested

"Besides there are drinks here too" Elijah supported me

"Fine I'll leave on my own" she snapped and grabbed her bag

"Ok, ok we'll come. We're out to spend time together, after all" I gave in

She smiled and lead us out. I had to admit, if it weren't for my sisterly connection to her, I really would have preferred to stay an bowl.

Klaus' POV

I was still talking to Caroline when I received an email from a blocked account. There were images, many of them, of Elijah and Hayley wrapped up to each other. I felt rage take over me. I stood up in anger and started pacing around.

"Klaus what is it?" Caroline asked worriedly

She was looking in my eyes and expecting an answer. All I felt was anger. Was Hayley using Elijah to get back at me? Or were they really getting closer? I punched the table and growled, which made Caroline more worried.

"Klaus talk to me, what's wrong?"

Suddenly the doors of the bar opened and Hayley walked in laughing. Elijah followed her. Alison was there too, but she looked like a third wheel. I watched as they talked playfully and Elijah helped her to her seat. If Hayley wanted to play, I could play too.

I grabbed Caroline and pulled her to the centre, where everyone would see us, and clashed my lips into hers. We started kissing and no matter how little I enjoyed the kiss, I enjoyed imagining Hayley feel the way I feel.

Hayley's POV

He was kissing her. Kissing Caroline. I remembered all the moments I witnessed them share, the way he protected her against me and it all became clear. He was back together with her. We were completely over.

"Nik" Elijah called out warningly "Niklaus stop it" he snapped

But I wasn't going to stay there and enjoy the show. I disappeared before the others noticed and ran to the street. Before I could take another step I felt a pain on my neck. There was a needle on it. I pulled it out and felt my head get dizzy. I was shot with a tranquilizer.

Before I blacked out I saw someone grab.

That someone was Tyler Lockwood.
