Sooo I was thinking on what to continue with, and then got angry for Haru! So this chapter is from Haru's POV, and he deals with all this unfairness. Enjoy!
...
There were many things Haru didn't understand. Why appointments were always made at times Haru didn't want to get out of the bathtub yet. Why you would throw out mackerel when it started smelling differently. Why some people never learned to swim, because they feared the water. There were many things Haru didn't understand, but sometimes it was not his fault at all.
Awkwardness still lingered in the air, so thick he could practically taste it. As soon as the rain had stopped falling they had all sprung apart, trying to create as much distance between them as they could. And Haru didn't understand why. The problem was that he missed a lot, he realised that, but didn't feel like it was his fault. A lot of things were not shared with him. Makoto often had done it to protect him, and possibly still did. Rin wasn't one to confide his issues with many. And Haru suspected Sousuke thought he simply wouldn't get it. That was perhaps true, but that didn't mean it wasn't important to him.
There were many things Haru didn't understand, but most of all he didn't understand why those closest to him excluded him so much.
"Where are we going?" he asked, instantly pulling three sets of eyes towards him. It seemed they were just walking aimlessly, everyone lost in thought. Maybe more of them had realised that, but hadn't dared to say anything, afraid of what the answer would be. That they had no clue, and that said enough. Didn't they just have a talk about this needing to be easy? Hadn't they all agreed?
Ruby eyes flickered forward towards Sousuke, who was again in the lead. Makoto walked behind them, brooding over something. His green eyes seemed darker than they usually were. "I was honestly just following Sousuke," Rin murmured, making teal eyes flicker towards him. "Weren't we going to grab a bite to eat somewhere?"
"Right," Sousuke replied, his gaze now pulled towards the street in front of them.
It was true that it was mentioned before that they were going to go eat somewhere, but Haru was sure Sousuke had not been looking for a place. At least he didn't make the excuse that he was. Lying to fill this strange void was not going to help them in any way. It now did give them a place to go, which was a lot better than to just walk around and not know where you were going. Haru wasn't one to enjoy long walks, anywhere.
Now they were just standing in the middle of the side walk, trying to figure out where to go. Even with a goal in mind they couldn't decide, plagued by the things they wouldn't tell Haru about.
"We could go to that sushi place over there," Haru pointed out, seemingly the only one who still knew how to live outside of his brain. It was difficult being the one in the lead and Haru didn't like the part much, but if no one else was doing anything, then he had to.
"Sounds good," Rin said, it being the only reply Haru received before they started walking again.
It was then that Haru felt fingers slide around his wrist and then grab a hold of his hand. Haru's eyes flickered up in wonder as he stared at Rin's face, his expression casual. Why? Why now? Haru must've stared too long, because it was then that Rin looked back, frowning.
"What?" Rin questioned. "You can grope me in front of these guys, but I can't hold your hand?"
"I didn't think you'd want to," Haru murmured, keeping his eyes glued to Rin's face. His comment made ruby eyes move away, a deep blush settling on Rin's cheeks. That was not the way Haru had meant it. Haru didn't think Rin was too embarrassed to hold his hand. Haru thought Rin just didn't want to. Not with this strange mood lingering around them, the situation too awkward to ask for these types of things.
The rest of their short walk was spent in more silence. Entering the restaurant and choosing a booth to sit at was even spent in silence. Rin and Haru and slipped onto the same bench, their fingers still tangled together. Rin was casually leaning back, looking outside at a couple with a baby. Sousuke and Makoto were again sitting next to each other, both still of in their own little world.
It was weird seeing them like this, eyes glazed over as they paid no attention to anything but their own thoughts. Sousuke was sitting right in front of Haru, but only realised that when Haru kicked him against his shin. "What are you thinking about?" Haru asked.
The dark look Sousuke was shooting Haru due to being kicked evaporated quickly, eyes shifting from Haru to Rin. Rin had been glancing at them nonchalantly right until Sousuke looked at him. The other Omega sat up straighter at that, ready to defend himself if needed. "Just spill it," Rin bit out when Sousuke didn't start talking.
"I…" Sousuke let out a frustrated sigh, hands grabbing onto his hair and giving them a tug. He was beating himself up over something, that much Haru could even tell. "I'm thinking about Rin kissing other people," he admitted. Rin's hold on Haru's hand tightened, and Haru knew he was about to say something, but Sousuke continuing shut him up. "And it's not that him kissing other people bothers me. I get that. What hurts me is that I can't kiss him."
Rin relaxed a little at that answer, the need to lash out diminishing. "Well, I can't really help that," he muttered. Ruby eyes glanced over at Makoto, who guiltily looked down at the table, knowing he was the problem here. Sousuke wouldn't say it but did think it obviously. "But Makoto and I agreed on something which should solve it soon."
Pulled out of his brooding Sousuke sat upright and curiously eyed both Makoto and Rin. "What do you mean?"
Another secret they had kept, but at least Haru was not alone in this one. The only thing different from Sousuke and he, was that Sousuke was apparently part of the secret. Rin blushed at the idea of talking about it, telling Haru this was one he was indeed embarrassed about. One of the main issues with Rin not wanting to talk.
"Makoto and I agreed…" Rin started. Haru glanced over at the Alpha on the other side of the table, who was evenly blushing, but could not pull his gaze away from Rin. "That if he allows me to kiss Sousuke, I'd sleep with him."
Sleep with him… Something new Haru didn't understand. And not because he didn't know what sex was. Honestly, he was not as naïve as the others thought. Haru had gone through heat a few times now, and knew perfectly well what his body needed at that point. Which he was fine with. Plus he also went to a university with a mandatory class about Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. They taught a lot there. Not to mention that he had a computer, and internet. In short Haru knew what sex was.
What he did not for the life of him understood was why Makoto agreed to that. Why Makoto did want to have sex with Rin, but had avoided Haru like the plague. A lot of feelings bubbled up inside of him, but he didn't know how to voice them. Didn't know how to explain what this did to him. And the worst part was perhaps that they weren't even paying attention to him. They didn't see that this affected him perhaps even more than it did Sousuke.
Sousuke shifted in his seat, thinking the idea through. "So, uh, when would…?"
"That depends on Makoto," Rin murmured, shooting a glance up at the Alpha across from him. Makoto still hadn't stopped looking at Rin, eyes slightly hazed over. But he was present enough to realise what exactly they were talking about. "But I'd like to leave on Sunday evening with a kiss richer from you and I guess in that sense a night spent in Makoto's bed," he directed at Sousuke again. Makoto shivered at the last line, the thought alone setting hormones coursing through his body.
Sousuke shifted once more in his seat, struggling with a response to it all. It was Haru who gave the biggest response by simply pulling his hand away from holding Rin's. Only then did the other Omega finally notice that Haru had not said anything for a while, and had averted his gaze from the scene in a way only he could, blue eyes hidden behind dark bangs.
It didn't long for the other two to catch on, seeing how Rin was just staring at Haru. Now he was the one not to understand. Rin was not the one who had witnessed it all. Had been in Australia when Haru had been here, trying to make things work between the three of them. Tried to seduce Makoto, and had been shut down, every time. Shut down by none other than the Beta who now would take a kiss over keeping Rin away from Makoto. It seemed unfair, so unfair.
"Haru," Rin said softly. He reached for Haru's arm, wanting to touch him as a sign of comfort. To show that he was here for Haru. But the other grabbed his wrist before Rin could even dare touch him. Haru didn't push his hand away though, just kept holding onto it. "I'm sorry…" Rin whispered afterwards, guilt slowly creeping in.
Haru bit his lip to prevent himself from saying something stupid, but he did have to say something. This was not right either. "You didn't do anything wrong," he managed to say, slowly turning to face Rin. He could look at Rin. Not the others. They made all these feelings well up that he didn't want to deal with.
"Then I don't…" Rin started, but Haru squeezed Rin's wrist tighter as he spoke, shutting him up.
"It's not you," Haru whispered. "I just don't understand why. Why you get to, and I don't."
Confused Rin looked at Haru, and then it slowly dawned on him as he shifted his gaze towards Sousuke, and Makoto. "Well, I never said that I needed to be Makoto's first," Rin muttered, acting quite casual about it. But Haru knew he wasn't. "I understand if you want to be Makoto's first time. I wish I could've been Sousuke's…" He let his voice trail off, lost in thought for a second. "So you should be Makoto's first. I'll wait."
That was very kind of Rin and not necessary, though Haru couldn't help but feel almost overjoyed at the fact that he could be first. Still he knew it would pain Rin. This would be a milestone for them.
"Thank you," Haru said, releasing Rin's wrist to hold his hand again. He then turned to look at Sousuke, because he was the one that caused the most problems.
And it seemed Rin finally picked up on that too. After a short glance at Sousuke he chose to stare out the window again, muttering to no one in particular. "No one else but you get to decide who you have sex with, so if you want to, then you should. I do think that we are both far more ready than the one we want to have sex with."
Which was very true. Makoto didn't freak out during the moment, but afterwards he was a mess. And that mess was only dealt with by Sousuke. But Haru couldn't help but think that once they had sex, Makoto got it out of his system, and would be able to control himself better.
"So maybe we should just have sex instead," Rin offered to Haru, sending him a wink.
Instantly Makoto balled his hands into fists, anger rushing through him as the mere idea displeased him.
"Ah, look who I've angered again," Rin joked.
There were a lot of things Haru didn't understand, but the biggest thing now was why it had taken Rin so long to finally be here and make them complete.
...
So I finally decided who would be first... Took me a while, but this seems right, right?
Also Akako_Chan (on AO3) pointed out to me that November 2nd is the 3 year anniversary of this story! Should we celebrate it? And how should we? Special chapter? Special side story/oneshot? Or should we not celebrate it all... I mean we have not celebrated the previous years XD
