Chapter 20: We are enemies! (part 2)

' Hey ,you! Check this out!' says Steve throwing his shield to him and making him fall. Kendra jumps to him and aims him with a sting. 'This ends here!'

she says with rage in her eyes.

' Kendra, no! Don't be what he wants you to be. Killing him it makes you be like him.' says Steve holding her arm. 'Just think. If he killed your father,

don't be like him.'

She takes a deep breath and lets the sting down as Narkor disappears.' I'm sorry. You are right. Death is not what he deserves.'

' Yes, isn't.' he says with a smile.' I am Steve Rogers.' he says kissing her hand.

' Oh, but you don't need to introduce yourself. Everybody knows you. My father was a huge fan of yours.' she says with a blush.

' Thank you. Is a pleasure to know this.'

' Can you just stop? You're acting like in the 50's.' exclaims Tony coming closer. ' I'm Tony Stark.'

' Is a pleasure to meet you all. I know a lot of things about you. Now we have a common enemy.'

' A very dangerous one. He mentioned about the Tesseract. I knew Thor took it on Asgard. Did something changed and I don't know?' says Nat with

crossed arms.

' This is strange. Now we really need Break Point here.' says Tony.

' Isn't necessary. I know what he was talking about. But I would like to talk about this on a safe place.' says Kendra becoming serious.

' Well, let's go back to the tower then. You know where is it ,no?'

' Really, Tony? As if it wouldn't be the biggest building from New York.' says Nat rolling her eyes.

The Avengers Tower

' Nothing is good as being home with a drink. Mmmm... Now we can listen.' says Tony from the bar.

' I made some researches this months and I discovered something very strange. An energy very similar to the one that is emitted by the Tesseract.'

' And how did you found that?'

' Don't forget my father was a scientist. I have some equipments made by me. I was in theme with the New York event. All that I don't understand is if

the Tesseract is on Asgard, then why this energy is still active?'

' This means two things then.' says Bruce coming with his phone. 'Or the Tessearct is on Earth again, or it has a twin.'

' A twin? Thor didn't mentioned something like this!'

' This is just a possibility, Steve, but it can be very probable.'

' Well, it seems we have to wait for Thor to come. He has a lot to explain.'

' Now this can wait. He is at his brother's funeral's. Is not an easy moment for him.' says Steve.

' Sir, Mr. Fury is online and wants to discuss with you.'

' Jarv, you can't just... Why I'm still saying this? Put him on the screen. I really wanted to hear him screaming today.' says Tony with a frown.

' Stark! Why you didn't announced that there is an attack?'

' I thought you know already! Your monkeys should have been there. But before to hear you yelling, I have to present you someone. She is Kendra

Knight.'

' You don't need to, Tony. We know each other already. How are you, Fury? Still behind me, isn't it?'

' I think this isn't the good moment, Kendra. Why are you here?'

' For the same reason I have since the last time we met. But what matters now is this new enemy. Is back.'

' Indeed. He is our main target now. The mission for Australia is set for tomorrow. We will meet at the HQ.'

' Mr. Director, wait. I think Kendra might be useful in this mission. What would be if she will be part of our team?'

' Steve, I...'

' No, Kendra. You have those information and with your skills the fight will be much easier.'

' Capsicle is right. We need her.'

' I agree with Tony!' says Clint.

' Yes, she is also scientist, Mr. Director.' adds Bruce.

' Fine. But only until we finish this mission.' says Fury as the screen turns off.

' Welcome to the team!' says Steve smiling.

' Thank you. You shouldn't have ,but thank you. Is an honor to be part of the team.'

' Nah! One more crazy in the team is just perfect!' says Tony with a wink.' Well, I'm off for now. See ya later.' he waves leaving the room.

The others head out of the room, but Steve remains. Kendra was about to leave also, but stops as he hears his voice.

'Kendra? I was wondering if... Just if you want to... Go out and eat something? I have nothing to do for now.

' Um, sure. I'm a bit bored to be honest. And Fury's ' yada,yada' makes me get crazy and bored.' she chuckles playfully. 'But I have to tell you i don't

know the surroundings well, so can you be my guide?'

Steve blushes lightly and smiles like a mad. 'That would be my pleasure. We can go to Central Park. I can sketch something also.'

' You can sketch? That's awesome! Can you show me?'

' Yeah,sure. Just let me take my things.'

She nods and waits for him, taking her jacket and the sunglasses.

Central Park

Kendra peeked over Steve's shoulder curious, licking her ice cream. This seemed far more interesting than her training. But she wouldn't give up at it.

She couldn't obtain her excitement and broke the silence.

' Looks amazing.'

Steve jolts a bit and smiles. 'Thank you. But is only at the beginning. It's just a passion I have.'

'You can be a great artist, you know? Beside saving the world.'

'Thanks. But for now we have a mission. Let's hope we'll win.'

'Hey! Since when Captain America doubts about that? Of course we will. Even if now the situation seems a bit above us.'

'I know. But remember what happened when Loki was here. We couldn't prevent the crimes he made.' He sighs and looks down.

Kendra plants her hand on his shoulder,smiling sadly. 'This is true. But you saved millions of life since then. This makes their sacrifice not to be in vain.

We are lucky that we won't see that mad anytime soon Well... We won't see him ever. Hoping that Thor is not wrong about his death.'

A small smile traced his lips and nodded, looking in her eyes. 'That's true. Let's hope this danger is not like Loki or worse. We have to face it anyway.'

' Indeed,we will. And we'll win.' She takes out his ice cream with a smile. 'Look what I have! I didn't know what flavor you like, so I took chocolate.'

' Thank you. You shouldn't bother. I like chocolate too. I used to eat this in childhood.'

' Me too. I was waiting with my father at the corner of the street and when the ice cream car was coming, we were running to it like two crazy persons.

I miss him sometimes.'

' What happened? If you don't mind.'

' Don't worry. He...died a long time ago. I was 10. I was in Japan then. He took my sister and my brother to his lab. He worked for S.H.I.E.L.D that time.

It was one of his biggest projects. He was very excited about it. He said that will change the world forever and it won't be necessary to have heroes.

And then something happened. It was...' She stops suddenly as she hears her phone ringing. 'Yes? What? Where? We'll be there right now.'

' What happened?' Steve asks concerned.

'It seems that there's another attack, not far from here. We should go there.'

'Let's go then. I'm ready for everything.' He takes his shield and follows her.

Finally is finished. I'm so sorry I wasn't here all those months. But I promise I won't let this fic down. I thought of rewriting it, but it will take too

much. Instead I'll come with new, improved chapters. See you soon!
