Keith: *Holding the baby Lugia in his arms and glaring at Rhythmi* WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'I CAN'T CALL HIM KEITH JUNIOR'?! HE'S MY BABY!
Rhythmi: It's basically an insult to call any legendary pokémon after you, much less this Lugia! No-one wants this Lugia to catch your stupidity!
Keith: HEY! Kate help me out here! ...Kate?
Kate: *Reading a book titled 'Legendary Care'* ...
IMN: Can we please get on with the story? I think our readers want to know the actual story than you two arguing the whole time. Fro, would you do the disclaimer?
Fro: Kay. *Turns to the audience* Infusion Masters Nightmare doesn't own Pokémon or it's characters. Thank Arceus for that or we'll all be in trouble with all the crazy ideas she comes up with.
Jet: *Nods in agreement*…
IMN: HURTFUL! Okay, okay. ON WITH THE STORY!
Chapter 21: Puddings, Chainsaws and the Stone
Kate's Pov
When I woke up the next morning I realised two things: I woke up later than usual and Keith was in the same bed as me. I don't know what any normal girl would do as she finds out that she fell asleep with one of her best male friends just centimetres away from said girl's face but I for one did the only thing I could think of; freak out!
"AAAAHHHHHH!" I screamed as I shoved Keith out of my bed. It seems that Keith was woken up by my scream and he grabbed the nearest thing to him as a reflex, aka me. So we both tumbled off the bed together.
"Ooooooooowwwwww! Kate, what was that for? That hurts!" whined Keith as he rubbed the back of his head. Usually I would help with his injuries but right now my body seems to be frozen (pun not intended). I just slept next to my partner and right now I'm in an awkward position with said partner!
"What's up Kate? Your Mew ears and tail just popped..." Keith questioned as he realised what position we were in. I was on top of Keith with the blankets tangled around our legs. I could feel my heart beating against my ribs, heat was rising to my cheeks and my Mew ears and tail had shown up. I just hope that Keith doesn't hear how loud my heart is beating right now. What is happening to me? Arceus PLEASE don't let Crawford or anyone else see us like this!
"Kaaaaaaaaate! Big Bertha brought us an armload her famous milk pudding! Get up and change into your uniform before everyone eats… them... all..." Crawford announced as he barged into my room with a smile on his face until he saw Keith and I in our awkward position. ARCEUS, WHY DO YOU HATE ME?! Everyone was silent for a moment before Crawford glared at Keith. If looks could kill, Keith would have died a hundred times over by now.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY PRECIOUS LITTLE SISTER?!" Crawford roared. Keith and I quickly crawled away from each other but Crawford kept glaring at Keith.
"Crawford, I can explain! You see we were talking last night and-" "I'LL KILL YOU, YOU RED HEADED PUNK!" I tried to explain until Crawford roared and tried to tackle Keith. Good thing that Keith dodged my brother and ran out of the room with Crawford on his tail. I quickly made my ears and tail disappear and got changed into a fresh uniform before chasing after the two boys. Even from the other side of the base I could hear the chaos from the Ranger area.
"CRAWFORD! I ORDER YOU TO PUT DOWN ELAINE'S CHAINSAW!"
"STOP IT!"
"CALM DOWN, CRAWFORD!"
"IT MUST BE SOME MISUNDERSTANDING!"
"DON'T HARM MY GRANDSON!"
"GIVE ME BACK MY CHAINSAW, CRAWFORD!"
"HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!"
I let out a sigh before stepping into the Ranger area. Just as I thought: Crawford is chasing after Keith while everyone else is trying to stop my over-protective brother. Wait, is that really a chainsaw in Crawford's hands?!
"Crawford, stop it!" I yelled but he still chased Keith around the base like a lunatic. I knew nothing would get my brother to listen to reason when he's like this so I had no choice but to use my powers. So while Big Bertha and Ollie weren't looking, I blasted a quick 'Powder Snow' attack on a spot on the floor. It's not strong but it's enough to freeze the spot. I freezed the spot just in time for Crawford to slip on it. Elaine took back her chainsaw and started to check it for damages while Luana helped Crawford up from the floor. Luana whispered something in Crawford's ear and he calmed down. Thank you Luana.
"Now that Crawford has calmed down and is far from the chainsaw, I can tell everyone the good news. Elaine and Prof. Hastings has taken apart the Gigarama," Barlow said.
"Uh Barlow? It's Gigaremo, not Gigarama," Keith said as he walked to my side.
"Really? Ah well, anyway Big Bertha brought an armload of milk pudding so eat up everyone!" Barlow said as he took a bite of milk pudding. I then took a spoonful of the treat into my mouth. Mmmmmmmm! No wonder everyone makes a big deal out of this milk pudding, it's soooooooooo good!
"Now who's this young lad? He's skinner than a stick," Big Bertha said as she looked at Ollie.
"That guy refuses to say anything to us. Just stick a spoon in his mouth and that would be plenty," Barlow explained as he ate his milk pudding. Big Bertha glared at Barlow and that made our base leader flinch.
"Now hush! That's no way to treat anyone. He's the hungriest looking out of everyone here," Big Bertha lectured before she smiled at Ollie and fed him some milk pudding. She was soothing the guy as she fed him. After he finished eating pudding, he looked down and started to shake.
"What's wrong with Ollie?" Luana asked worried.
"I think Big Bertha broke him," Crawford replied as we all stared at Ollie.
"I...I..." Ollie squeaked.
"Is he saying 'I' as in 'Eyeball' or 'Aye Aye Sir'?" Crawford asked as he did the action that represents an eyeball and a sailor salute. I swear sometimes my brother has the worst timing or humour when it comes to jokes...
"I... I'M SORRY! It's all my fault! The Vien Forest Fire was my fault! It was an accident!" wailed Ollie.
"HE SPEAKS! I thought he was mute like Jet," Fro said as she looks over at Jet, who was sitting on Keith's shoulder.
"I-I didn't mean to cause it. I was too clumsy. W-When I was setting up the machine, I'd spilled the fuel... I tried to clean it up but it was no use. T-Then I bumped into the machine and a spark plug went loose and lit the fuel. The fire spread wildly. That was all I remember before the machine exploded and I was blacked out by one of the parts hitting me on the head... *Sniff* *Sniffle* I'm really, really sorry," Ollie rambled as he started crying.
"Are you apart of Team Dim Sun? Do you know what they're planning?" Barlow questioned. Ollie continued to sniffle as he shook his head for 'no'.
"I never heard of 'Dim Sun' or what a 'Gigaremo' was until I heard you guys talking about them. A few days ago, two guys came to me and asked if I would do a job for them. I-I don't know the guys' names but they said they would pay me a lot of money if I set up those Gigaremo things in parts the forest. I need the money so I took the job, I didn't know that those things were nothing but trouble. If I did then I would never have agreed in the first place. I-It's that the milk pudding was soooooo good that I couldn't take the guilt anymore. I don't deserve something so delicious after what I did. I'm sorry... *Sniff*" Ollie said while he was still crying.
"Well there ya have it. Now Barlow, how's the poor lad supposed to wipe his tears if he's tied up like this?" Big Bertha said glaring at Barlow.
"Uhhhhhh, Kate and Keith you untie Ollie," ordered Barlow as he nervously looked away from the scary woman.
"Yes sir," Keith and I said before we went over to Ollie and tried to untie the rope, repeat tried.
"What the-? Why is this so hard?" Keith ranted as he and I tried to loosen the rope but we did the opposite instead.
"Guys, stop! He's turning blue! Let me help," Luana exclaimed as she also tried to help us untie the rope. Man, Barlow really knows how to tie a rope a smidgeon on the tight side!
"Crawford, a little help please?" asked Luana as we struggle to get the ropes loose. Even with Crawford's help, we still couldn't get the ropes undone. For some reason when Jet looked behind him, the sea weasel pokémon turned pale and started to poke Keith's head.
"Not now Jet. I'm busy at the moment," Keith grumbled as he continued to help untie the rope but it didn't stop Jet from poking Keith. Now I could feel something tugging my top multiple times.
"Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate," Fro pestered as she kept tugging at my top. It was like that for a few minutes before we couldn't take it anymore.
"WHAT?!" Keith and I shouted in unison as we turned to see what our partner pokémon were looking at. Right behind us was Elaine with her chainsaw buzzing over her head and smiling like a maniac.
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" we all screamed in fear as we jumped out of the chainsaw's way but poor Ollie couldn't move because he was tied up. When I turned my head I expected that Ollie would be chopped in half but he was perfectly fine and the ropes were cut.
"That was easy," Elaine said as she switched off her chainsaw. That was when Ollie fainted from the shock.
"Elaine, I admit that you have some mad chainsaw skills but it would be nice if you would WARN US NEXT TIME!" I complained while I was calming down my heart so my Mew ears and tail won't pop up in front of Big Bertha.
"I hate to interrupt but Ollie is unconscious," Prof. Hastings commented as he pointed at Ollie. I wouldn't blame him, I would faint too if I was inches away from a chainsaw and I was a normal human.
"Everyone, I found out where Ollie lives. Turns out he lives in Chicole Village with his mum. You could drop him off at his house as you patrol today," Rhythmi said as she typed away on her special laptop. I nodded my head and was about to lift Ollie up but Keith beat me to it.
"Don't worry about Ollie, I got him. Let's bring him back to his mum," Keith said as he passed me the note with Ollie's address on it. When Keith was out of ear shot, Big Bertha walked up to me and patted me on the shoulder.
"Ahhhhh, this takes me back to when I was dating Little Tim. You and that Keith boy would make a fine couple. You can feel the sparks between you two from the other side of a room. He's a good kid so I would keep a hold on him if I were you," Big Bertha whispered to me. When I realised what Big Bertha meant, my face felt like it was on fire and my heart was beating a mile a minute. I quickly said 'bye' before running out the door to catch up with Keith.
We can't be a couple. Keith and I are nothing more than friends! Even if I do like Keith that way, it would never work. Not when the 'Day of Darkness' is so close. After I complete the prophecy, there is a zero chance that Keith and I would become a couple, whether I like it or not.
Keith's Pov-Night time
Kate and I were finally finished patrolling Vientown and Chicole Village for the day. After we dropped Ollie home and explained to his mother what happened, we went to Kate's house to check on her family. Remi was having fun with the pokémon while Kate told her parents all the exciting things that happened so far. We barely made it out the door with Kate's dad freezing the floor with his tears until we promised that we would visit again soon. When we got back to the base, everyone was gathered around the Gigaremo that was taken apart by Elaine.
"Welcome back you two. You're just in time. Prof. Hastings just found something in the Gigarara," Barlow announced as we entered the door.
"It's Gigaremo and what did you find?" I said as we walked over to where everyone was. When we got close I saw that my Grandpa was holding a stone that was pitch black with a chip out of it. I'd never seen anything like it but funnily enough I felt like I've seen it before somewhere and I was a bit on edge. Elaine looked at the stone with curiosity and I know that glint in her eye, it's when she wants to take something apart. Uh oh.
"I wonder what it is? I know! I'll get my tools and-"
"NO! You are not destroying this, Elaine! I'll take it back to the Union tomorrow and have the research team examine this with me. Barlow, I want you to come with me so we can have a meeting to discuss the matters of the Gigaremo and Team Dim Sun," Grandpa said as he set the stone down on the counter and walked away with Barlow to pack their things for the meeting tomorrow.
Everyone else went off to do their own thing but I just stood their staring at the stone. Something about it wasn't right. I feel like this stone was more than what meets the eye. I slowly reached out for the stone and when I touched it, I felt my breath and all the heat in my body were taken away. I suddenly saw images flashing before my eyes but they were too fast for me to see anything clearly. Suddenly I was brought back to reality with my head hurting so much that I thought someone hit me with Elaine's hammer.
I felt a nudge on my stomach and saw that Jet was pushing me away from the stone and growled at it.
"Bad... Bad..." Jet growled as he glared at the stone. I finally snapped out of my daze and patted Jet on the head.
"I'm fine, Jet. Don't worry about me. It's getting late, I want to turn in for the night," I soothed the agitated Buizel. Jet glanced at me with worry in his eyes and nodded his head.
I walked back to my shared room with Jet making sure that I keep my distance from the stone. As I entered the room I saw that Kate and Fro were fast asleep in their beds. I smiled at the sight of Kate sleeping so peacefully. I instantly blushed remembering what happened this morning. Truthfully I liked being so close to Kate and I wished to sleep next to her again. I swear if Rhythmi were to hear this, she would never let me live this down.
I got ready for bed and laid under my covers. Jet was fast asleep in minutes but I was wide awake because I couldn't stop thinking of what happened earlier. Why did that stone put me on edge? What were those images about? Also, why did it only happen to me? Before I knew it, I was out like a light with my questions unanswered.
IMN: Hi everyone. Sorry about the short chapter it has been chaotic from my end for the past few days. On the plus side, I'm going to make the next chapter awesome! So be prepared people!
Keith: Keith Junior is an epic name for my baby!
Rhythmi: Only YOU would think that, Keith!
IMN: You two are still arguing about the name?
Rhythmi: IMN, you know that it would insult all the legendary pokémon if he calls that Lugia 'Keith Junior'.
Keith: Would you quit it! I'm calling him 'Keith Junior' and that's final!
Kate: *Looks up from the 'Legendary Care' book* Rhythmi is right, you can't call that Lugia 'Keith Junior'.
Keith: WHAT?! Kate, why? I thought we're partners. Q^Q
Kate: I'm just saying you can't call that Lugia that name because it's a girl.
Rhythmi, Keith and IMN: ...WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
Keith: KJ IS A GIRL?!
Rhythmi: STOP CALLING HER THAT!
IMN: Okay, looks like she'll need a new name. *GASP* How about-
Keith: *Holding the baby Lugia protectively* We are not calling my baby some weird name like your crazy pokémon.
IMN: *Growls* FINE! Why don't we let the reviewers decide Mister Grouchy-Pants?
Keith: ...Fine.
