Author's Note: Wow! It's been awhile since I updated this fic. I was in the mood for the girls this morning so I got to work. I still won't be able to update as often as I'd like because my life is so hectic right now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter and please leave a review.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything from Fairy Tail. I also do not own anything from Avatar: The Last Airbender. This fic isn't really a crossover but the girls powers coincide with the latter tv show.
A week after Haleigha had made up with Aurelia and spent a few days sucking up to Kailani, she was finally beginning to feel okay with their situation. She still wanted to find a way to get back to her family, but had accepted that it might not happen for a while. Until she could find a way to get back home, she should at least enjoy herself. So she went to the guild every day with Aurelia. Her blonde friend always ran straight over to Natsu and Lucy and for the first two days Hel had tagged along, but on the third day she sat at the bar and chatted with Mirajane. Erza would often come join them and the three were quickly becoming good friends. Hel was also becoming quite friendly with Elfman and Lisanna. After a week of letting herself open up to the guild, she was feeling much better about her situation.
Currently, she was sitting at a table with Gray and Kailani. Hel was mostly watching the two of them chat while she listened, feeling a little like a third wheel. Lani and Gray had been spending a lot of time with each other lately. Aurelia said the two were dating, although when she teased Lani about it, the waterbender insisted the two were just friends. However, from Hel's point of view she agreed with Aurelia, and if the two of them managed to agree on something than it must be true. And speaking of her friend, she suddenly realized she hadn't seen Aurelia that morning.
"Hey," she interrupted Lani and Gray's conversation. "Where's Aurelia?"
Kailani blinked in surprise and frowned. "You know, I don't know," she replied. "I didn't see her this morning. Maybe she's still in bed?"
Hel shook her head. "It's noon," she stated. "She'd be up and here by now." The three began to look around the guild hall until Gray spotted her.
"She's at the bar talking to Laxus," he said. Hel turned around and quickly spotted Aurelia sitting on a barstool next to the giant lightning mage. She was prattling on and on about something, and Hel laughed at the expression on Laxus' face. He didn't seem to know whether he should look amused or annoyed.
"I wonder if we should go rescue him," Hel commented.
Gray raised his eyebrows. "Don't you mean rescue Aurelia?" he asked.
Lani laughed. "She looks pretty happy," she said. "Why would she need rescuing?"
"Well, doesn't she know about Laxus?" Gray questioned.
"About he's and ass and doesn't like people who annoy him?" Hel replied. "Yeah, she knows that."
"Well then, don't you think we should get her away from him before he snaps?" Gray asked.
Kailani shook her head. "She talks to him every day she's here, you just haven't noticed," she said. "Aurelia thinks he's a riot."
"I doubt he feels the same," Gray warned.
"Oh, I don't know," Lani chuckled. "He hasn't fried her yet. Maybe he likes her."
"Yeah, maybe," Gray replied. "Still, I…."
"Guys!" Aurelia cried slapping a flyer down on the middle of the table and interrupting whatever Gray had been about to say. "I have a proposition for you."
"So you mean you're done harassing Laxus?" Hel teased.
"I wasn't harassing him. I was just talking to him," Aurelia replied tossing her long hair over her shoulders.
"With you, that's the same thing," Hel replied.
Aurelia scowled and opened her mouth to reply, but Lani intervened. "Knock it off you two," she ordered before looking up at Aurelia. "What did you want to tell us?"
"We're going on a mission!" Aurelia claimed regaining her excitement from before.
"The four of us?" Lani questioned. "Well, what is the mission?"
"Not the four of us," Aurelia replied quickly turning over the flyer so they could all read the mission. "Just you, me, and Hel."
Lani's eyes widened. "You think we're ready for that?" she asked surprised.
"Sure. Why not?" Aurelia said. "We've been on a few missions now."
"But never on our own," Kailani pointed out.
"Well, we've got to start sometime," Aurelia replied. "And I picked a mission I thought would be pretty low level."
Gray picked up the flyer and skimmed it over. "You guys could do this mission on your own," he said. "A small drug bust should be something you can handle. I mean, I've been helping you train. You're ready for some small combat."
"Yeah, but…"
"Lani, the flyer says they suspect it's a small group of people smuggling the drugs out," Aurelia insisted. "If there's a fight it won't be anything we can't handle."
"I agree with Aurelia," Hel said finally joining the conversation. "We can do this."
"Okay," Lani sighed giving in. "Let's tell Mira we have this mission."
An hour later, and the three girls were all packed to go. Aurelia was bubbling with excitement as they met with their gear in the parlor. "This is so exciting!" she exclaimed bouncing up and down on her toes.
Hel rolled her eyes. "Try to contain yourself please," she said. "I can't take this excitement of yours on the train all the way to Bock."
"Oh come on!" Aurelia cried. "You can't tell me you're not at least a little excited."
Hel smiled. "Okay, fine," she replied. "I'm a little excited."
"Yes, well, let's not get too excited," Lani said. "We have to be able to focus."
"Lani, lighten up," Hel said. "We can do this."
Lani smiled. "Alright, let's get to the train station then," she replied. They had opened the door and were about to head out when they heard the pattering of little feet on the hardwood floors and then a sharp bark. They all turned around and glanced down at Bones who was staring up at him expectantly.
"Shit!" Aurelia exclaimed. "We forgot about Bones."
"He can't come on the mission with us," Hel said.
"He's come on all the other missions," Aurelia replied.
"He shouldn't have," Hel told her. "He's not trained for this line of work. He could get hurt.
"I agree," Lani added. "But what are we going to do with him? He can't stay in the house alone."
"We'll bring him to Lucy's," Aurelia declared scooping Bones up in her arms.
"Isn't she out on a mission with Natsu and Happy?" Lani asked.
"Natsu and Happy aren't on a mission," Aurelia replied. "They're on a fishing trip. Lucy hasn't been at the guild the past few days because she's taking advantage of their absence to work on her book."
"Maybe she won't want to look after Bones then," Lani pointed out.
"Why wouldn't she?" Aurelia questioned. "He's no trouble."
Lucy waved goodbye as Aurelia, Lani, and Hel left her apartment. She shut the door and turned around to look down at Bones who was looking up at her. She smiled widely at him. "We're going to have a fun few days. Right Bones?" she cooed. She jumped when the Jack Russel Terrier growled. Her eyes widened in dismay when the dog wagged his stumpy tail at her reaction. Lucy considered running after Aurelia and her two friends and handing the dog back. It was going to be a rough few days.
