~~OO~~II~~OO~~
((The Wolf Demon))
~~OO~~II~~OO~~
He was irritated. He'd scented wolf in is sanctuary nearly an hour ago, and it was still fresh in his mind. He wasn't stupid. Yes, he'd gone full demon and still was with his state of mind. But he wasn't stupid. He knew that scent. The wolf demon that his mate had gone to. A low growl left him.
His claws dug into a branch, and he flattened his ears. He desperately wanted to kill the demon, but he couldn't leave his mate when it was running around. It would be a risk to her life, and he wouldn't let that happen. Anything that could possibly hurt her would be eliminated in an instant, would be eliminated as soon as he could manage it.
He froze, a snap being distantly heard as his claws broke through the branch. The half-demon-turned-demon snarled viciously under his breath. He could see the wolf demon as it appeared beside his mate. And his mate smiled, throwing her arm around him in greeting.
His jaw clenched. He bit his lip so hard that his lip bled and he fought the urge to attack. He wouldn't reveal himself around his mate while she was awake. He settled down onto his branch, forcing himself to relax. He could wait, he decided. He would make himself wait. When dusk fell, the wolf demon would die.

Kagome huffed impatiently as she waited for her friend to show up, wrapping her arms around herself. She sighed. "If that idiot hadn't run off, this wouldn't be happening," she mumbled to herself, touching her arm. "Ugh."
"Kagome!" She glanced up at the familiar voice, a grin spreading across her face as Koga strode through the trees, casting a glance at the jacket she'd discarded. "Might wanna keep that with you to show you're not just abandoning him and showing it off."
Kagome merely snorted, darting over to give him a one-armed hug. "Idiot. Let's go find my boyfriend, I'm worried about him. I know he's been hanging around, he just won't show up."
Koga rolled his eyes. "Damn right," he muttered. "The mutt's hanging out in the larger tree off to our right. He just hasn't showed himself yet. Probably won't… No. Don't look," he added in a growl as she immediately moved to turn around. "He'll run off."
She furrowed her brow. "No, he won't. Watch. As soon as I yell at him to come down, he will."
The wolf demon shook his head. "Fine. Go ahead. You can be stupid and chase him off so we can spend five days trying to find him again." He threw his hands in the air, backing away. He flopped down among the roots of a tree. "Go on," he urged.
Kagome flushed. "If it works," she decided, "I want to be you and Ayame's kids' godmother. Got it?"
His jaw dropped. "You want me to make a mutt the godfather of my cubs?"
"Yep."
"…fine," he muttered. "You can be the godmother. Hurry up, let's hope it doesn't work now," the man growled.
Kagome giggled. "Which tree?"
He pointed her in the right direction, and Kagome made her way over to the tree. She approached hesitantly, her eyes thoughtful as she touched the bark of the tree. She glanced over at Koga, who raised an eyebrow, waiting. Kagome swallowed nervously, and then tilted her head back to examine the branches. Sure enough, she could see a hint of silver in the tree, and a fallen branch finally hit the ground near her feet. "Inuyasha," she said softly, "Come down here. Please."
The silver disappeared. Kagome's hopeful expression disappeared. "Inuyasha, come back here!" she yelled, her eyes filling with angry tears. "Inuyasha! Please! Please, come back!"
There was nothing for a few moments, but then there was another flash and Inuyasha materialized beside Kagome, his ears flat against his head and his red eyes narrowed suspiciously at Koga, who remained where he was, looking fairly irritated. Inuyasha buried his nose in his mate's hair and kept it there, growling low in his throat as he stared intently at Koga. The wolf demon held his hands up in defeat. "I'm not here to take your mate, mutt."
Kagome beamed, reassuringly tugged on Inuyasha's hair until he looked at her. "Inuyasha won't hurt you, Koga. If he does, I'll hit him. Right, Inuyasha?" She glared at him, tugging on his hair until he merely growled back at her and nipped her fingers so that she released his hair. "Now," Kagome said cheerfully. "I get to have a hell of a time getting you back to your half-demon self again. And then beat the hell out of you for scratching my arm."
Koga sighed. "Kagome, damn it, he's gone completely full demon. You can't boss around full demons that can barely talk and say what's on their mind. You've got him, so can we drag him off to someone who can actually handle the bastard?"
Inuyasha began to growl and Kagome tightened her grip on him. "I can handle him," she protested. She gently pulled away from Inuyasha and his eyes narrowed, immediately growling and snatching her arm roughly, jerking her back over to his side. "See?" she gasped, wincing.
Koga groaned. "The mutt's not going to be the godfather to any of my cubs, you got that? You're welcome to be the godmother, but that mutt needs to stay away. Come on, you; let's get both of you back home."
Kagome gave a sigh, nodding. She moved to gently tug on Inuyasha's hand, being careful not to cut herself on his claws. "Inuyasha, come on, please," she pleaded when he remained stubbornly where he was. "Please. Your family's worried."
He merely growled, flopping down between the roots of a tree, dragging the woman into his lap. She huffed angrily, and Koga roared with laughter, grinning at her. "Kagome, he's not going anywhere. He needs to go back to being a damn mutt. And face it, you know as well as I do that as soon as I'm gone, he'll just abandon you to come back here."
Kagome's face flashed with pain, and Inuyasha snarled, grip around her tightening. He glared at Koga, growling at the fact that he'd made his mate upset. Koga sighed. "Kagome," he said gently. "Look at him. He's a damn monster right now."
Kagome's temper flared. She rocketed to her feet, wincing as she forced herself past the half-demon's claws. "Don't you dare call him that, Koga, he's important to me. I've got him now, so we can go back."
"Kagome, you're inviting death to people who don't need it," Koga snapped. "Just leave him here." He huffed, reaching over to gently grab her arm.
In a flash, the wolf demon was sent skidding across the ground. Kagome shrieked, immediately catching for Inuyasha's arms when he moved to leap after him, growling. "Inuyasha, stop! Please!" she pleaded desperately. He paused, looking at her with a confused look. "Stop," she commanded. She glared at him. "Stop that right now."
Koga cursed as he climbed to his feet. "Damn it, Kagome," he spat, "I'm not risking my life here for a mutt. My mate's waiting for me, you got that? We have plans for a future, and I'm not gonna die by this bastard's hand."
"Koga," Kagome said desperately. "Please, just-"
"You wanted me to help you find him," Koga growled. "You have him. Now I'm leaving. I'll see you around, Kagome."
And then Kagome found herself alone with a panting and furious demon that turned angry red eyes on her.
