F-Taste of Fresh Blood-N
XVIII
"Fuck." The man quickly leaped from the penthouse right after the kid who had unexpectedly jumped out of the hotel wall.
It wasn't supposed to happen this way. But it was also not a fucking game. Charley knew what he was doing and he was almost offended that they didn't see it coming.
"Go!" Prometheus shouted as loud as beastly possible and all his alerted men ran towards the lip of the buildings and jumped. Even the ones meddling on the ground level looked towards the sky once they heard their master's commanding snarl and began shoving people out of there way as they tried as quick as possible to catch up to the falling boy.
They couldn't yet sense the moon but it was right around the corner as the sun was setting now at a rapid pace, slowly getting dark.
Prometheus watched from the edge of the skyscraper, his eyes winded as Charley fell. There wasn't much that could put fear into a lycan leader but if his men didn't catch Charley their attempts at hunting him would have been for nothing and the wolves would continue to be slaves to the more conventional creatures.
As the boy fell downwards, he thought of everything. Everything that made him happy. Everything that made him sad. Everything that made his heart beat. He actually surprised himself at how much he did remember. At how much he felt. Something Jerry would have called annoying human emotions.
-"Vampires? What drugs are you on?" Peter frowned while taking a shot of something strong.
-"Charley, it's time for school! Amy is outside waiting!" He could hear his mother shout from all the way downstairs.
-"Charley, vampires exist. I'm telling you, they're real!" Ed expressed frantically and loudly in the halls of their school.
- Amy lifts her sunglasses off her face as he watched her pull up to his house. "Brewster, hop in."
Little everyday things he was able to contain a smile about. Able to appreciate. Like his mother's nagging. Amy's glee. Ed's constant paranoia. Peter's potty mouth. His mother's crappy hair. Peter's snorty laugh. Ed's girly scream. Amy's smile...
...His own insecurities. Now he was about to die. And the thoughts and memories were saddening. Because that's all they would be. Just memories.
He was freely falling against the brisk current of wind away from the hoard of men not yet transformed but in the process of. And his goal was to hit the bottom before they could reach him. But with his luck, he wouldn't make it. He found himself more terrified of the thought that they may catch up to him instead of his body smacking against concrete.
Prometheus' men crawled and darted there way down the sides of the buildings racing him to the bottom. They were almost to him.
Charley had thought the fall would be faster but it took just as much time falling as day one of all of this, when in reality it should have been a swift ten seconds.
He started to remember more things, but this time with more clarity. Most of it were things most people would remember. Some were things people didn't care to remember. And the rest of it were things that were impossible to remember. It felt like he was reliving his entire life again from when he was born to his present age. Like the feeling inside of his mother's womb. His first cry. His first birthday. His first laugh. He remembered his first kiss and exactly how it felt. His exact emotions the day his father abandoned him. How nervous he was on his first day of school. He remembered faces, names of people he never even talked to, just walked by or seen. And places he'd never went. He remembered every single dream he's ever had, along with events and past experiences flashing vigorously across his mind.
Charley watched through the reflections of the skyscrapers, the men hopping from building to building painfully transforming, forcing a quick alteration onto their selves. It was time. The sun had set enough and their source of power was nearby and they were closing in on him, the dogs at the bottom waiting to snatch him up.
And the wolf closest bounded heavily at the boy and extended a hairy lengthy claw in reach for him. Charley gasped as his eyes widened. Then another memory flashed at him brightly.
-"Hey guy...need help with the trash?" Jerry asked with a cocky smile and stalking presence as he stood from his driveway watching the boy.
"Jerry." He his long lashes fluttered weakly, trailing off, as he began remembering other intimate feelings between him and his favorite vampire.
He remembered how nervous and shaken he was the first time he met his eerie neighbor. The way his blood boiled every time the dark haired vampire got close. How horny and desperate he was for the blacked haired man's attention.
He remembered Jerry's very first vampire transformation. The repulsive but enticing transformation that made him want to fuck himself. How captivating Jerry's aura was and how illuminated he felt by his killer glances.
He remembered perfectly the dusty dry smell in Jerry's basement. He could taste it still. It was hypnotic. Suffocating.
He still can't get over the smoothness of his mood and walk. Or the coldness of his eyes. The sadness in them. He remembers wanting to caress the demons tongue that hid behind his fangs every time he smiled or chuckled.
He remembered their petty ass arguments over stupid shit. His stubbornness.
He remembers every dream he's had of him. Followed by every nightmare and every fantasy. But his most primary memory was the time he first made love to Jerry. With their ferocious kisses. Their wet animistic lips at each others neck. The cold skin against his. The thickness inside him.
He remembers loving him. Loving him completely despite his inhuman flaws, despite being a creature of habit, despite being evil, despite his wrongdoings...He loved him so bad.
The werewolves mouth unfastened and shattering jaws widened as if to capture the boy in its mouth and before he knew it Charley shut his eyes then he was surrounded by darkness.
People were going ballistic at what just happened. They saw as the wolf and a boy crashed on top of a car, completely crushing the vehicle under their weight. The impact was so strong and so fatal that every car behind the totaled car spun to its side sounding off multiple alarms.
The wolves had stopped their pace with their enfolded claws, clinging onto the sides of the skyscrapers, looking down at where the boy and one of their own had fell waiting to see if they had came out of it alive. Prometheus watched in silence in apprehension. From the looks of it, the boy had to have been dead.
The boy twitched. Charley didn't know that dying would feel that way. It didn't feel right. He was thinking that he would be completely engulfed in some sort of darkness. But the darkness only lasted a short while. He thought he would be enduring some type of torment. He thought he'd feel something. He didn't know that landing on his back, having very bone in his body cracked and crushed would be so painless. He thought his skull being removed from his spinal cord would be much less pleasant. He also found that dying wasn't as scary as everyone made it out to be. In fact he could say he was extremely satisfied.
The kid opened his eyes lightly and blinked, awakened by gasps and loud commotions from the witnesses standing around. He could hear pictures being snapped, phone calls being made, sirens from afar. And it only made his head hurt worse. He started to cough, as he if he just got the wind knocked out of him... but he was alive. Or maybe dead and in the afterlife... But he wouldn't feel like this if he was dead. That he was certain.
He was in and out of focus from everything around him. There was a blur to his eyes and unsteadiness to his motion. He was still in the "I just jumped out of a fucking building!" mindset trying to comprehend whether or not he was alive, dead, badly injured...? Or maybe one of the wolves captured him on time. Either way he wasn't feeling well.
Taking in a half-assed breath, he tried to extend his clenched limbs but found himself curled up and stiff in a feeble position. He tried to move out of it again but that's when he felt his body parts starting to ache incredibly. Maybe he broke something. Shit, after that fall, he should have broke more than just 'something'. He tried to move again, finding it difficult as his body was being compressed between something strong, something unmovable. It took him awhile to realize that arms were casing him in a protective hold and his face was gently cupped against a colorless neck, and his hands connected at a breathing chest. He shifted curiously his head to see Jerry, all bloodied up, holding him as tight as he could. They were covered in the blood of the wolf that had almost landed on Charley. It looked like Jerry had torn the beasts head off before he had prevented Charley from crashing onto the car beneath him. That would explain why he survived both the wolf and the impact.
Jerry had his eyes shut, shielding them from the part of the sun that peered from the cities horizon. It was hurting them. Hurting his skin. But he didn't care as long as Charley was safe.
Charley looked amazed. Shocked. Sad. Regretful. Happy...Just when he was doing so well pretending to stay mad at him.
He loosened the hold by squeezing out of the mans embrace but still looked down at the demon that had his eyes shut. Even though it took awhile for him to react back from pure shock and amazement, Charley instantly covered Jerry up with his body, protecting him from the sun by providing him shade with his little body and shadow. "Jerry?" Charley said, disbelief showing.
Then Jerry opened his dark brown eyes. They were human eyes. They were awake for once. Not dead inside.
"Hey kiddo."The blacked haired vampire said beneath him. He had a tiny smirk on his face.
"Hey Jer." The kid smiled back with a couple of tears running down his cheeks.
"Why did you fall?" The man asked sadly.
"Because I needed too."
"You don't understand kid. I need you alive."
"Why?"
"Because if you don't stay alive, its means that I failed. Remember when I told you that there were a lot of bad people out there? If you die, they win."
"But if I die you won't have to fight anymore. You can finally rest. Isn't that what you want? Rest?"
"No, guy. I don't rest. I'm not good at it. I also promised I'd keep you safe." Jerry hissed in pain and Charley quickly looked to see where the pain was coming from but it went unnoticed.
"Maybe you should rest. Maybe you need to. Maybe I want you to. I'm about to lose everyone that makes me happy. I'm going to lose everyone that I love because of this blood that I have. Not to mention I've already lost you. That's why it was so easy to jump."
Reaching out his hand, he ran a strand of hair from the kids face. Charley was scared to move because he was afraid Jerry might burst into ash if the sun touched and irritated his skin long enough. Then he blinked seeing a comfort shone in the vampire's eyes letting him know that everything would be alright. "You haven't lost me. Not until I'm dead."
He looked at Charley for another second then pushed him gently aside becoming aware of the incoming enemies. Also aware of the sun. But he was surviving it and Charley didn't know how.
The vampire lifted himself off a large piece of metal that had impaled through his stomach from the dented in car. He felt more sorry for the Honda Civic than he did for himself.
"You can't fight them by yourself Jerry. This entire thing was a trap. They'll kill you." Charley tried to warn the stubborn bat.
"They can try."
"Jerry, you won't live forever."
"Cheer up guy. It makes me smile when you're happy."
Then the vampire leaped at the scowling dogs, hissing at the ones creeping up behind and in front of him.
Amy and Peter had ran to the crash scene where they had thought Charley died, but when they saw him, joy and happiness had never been real for them. Not like this. Amy instantly ran over to Charley and hugged him as tight as possible, her face and eyes just drowning in tears. Peter also ran up catching up. He sighed in strong relief seeing that Charley was okay. He was literally about to have a heart attack. Then came up to the boy's side kissing him sloppily on the cheek, telling him not to pull that shit again. But Charley's focus was only on Jerry who was now surrounded by the demon dogs. And reality hit them hard again. Charley was well and alive and now it was time for the real shit to begin.
A wolf leaped at the blacked haired bat, but he seemed to be quicker despite the gash in his stomach, caught the jaws and ripped the two halves of the mouth apart only to be shortly jumped by three more, after realizing Jerry was more than just a threat. They remembered what he had done to their brothers.
"We need to go Charley." Peter quietly told him, not being to loud and forceful afraid the kid was too much in shock. Also afraid to alert the wolves.
Charley was more in shock about the fact that Jerry came out of nowhere and saved him once again. But he also had this bad feeling that Jerry was in danger.
Prometheus began to piece together a blow gun, loading it with poisonous darts. Knock out drugs could never work on Jerry. He was more than just a beast so they had to take the more fatal route and drain his energy with as much dead or infected blood as needed.
He didn't know that Jerry would show himself but he did have a strong feeling. Wherever Charley was in danger, Jerry had to be there. That much he knew.
Clouds came in, blocking the sun. Thunder had sounded. The weather change was so swift and uncanny, the average person naturally stood around watching the darkness fill the sky. And the army of demons underground sniffed upwards, smelling their feast. Impatiently snapping their fangs, as the light began to fade quickly. They were ready to kill. Ready to feed.
Charley, Amy and Peter, bunched close together gazed up towards the sky. "Whats happening?"
Nathaniel lifted his phone, reading a text message just sent.
You can come out and play now. It read.
"Showtime." The second the smirk from the blonde glistened, vampires of all kinds, of all breeds, covered the skies. Wings of all sizes flailing towards the lower ground. Hundreds of them attacking and feasting on cowering humans. Everything was an instant mess. There was no built up climax. The animals just went straight for the kill.
People were running as fast as they could but the predators were right at their backs. They would call for help but that seemed useless for their specific situation. No one was safe.
The vampires hidden underground since before the sun had risen started to break through the concreted ground and streets. Nathaniel leading the submersion. The blonde haired, green eyed vampire broke through the street and flew up in the air, his wings fiercely extended, his face transformed. He screeched loudly as lightning struck behind him as if he was the one to command the weather.
Amy and Peter looked around hearing the howls of multiple dogs. Strong howls. Powerful ones. They could tell that tons more were close.
People were running, screaming, crying, terrified to death. They were being slaughtered mercilessly. Throats being ripped apart. There flesh being clawed away at. It was horror. It was a massacre. There was no where to hide where they could not be found. If it wasn't death by the bats it was death by the wolves and the wolves were much more starving.
The echoes of the screams caused Gabriel's ears to perk. It was exactly what he had wished. A smile made up of deathly fangs formed upon his pale face. He was pleased with the sound of death and fear. This was his reward to them. They bring him Charley, and they can have their promised dessert.
The last wolf to attack him he had beat death and now Jerry, Peter, Amy and Charley were surrounded by more approaching wolves. Jerry looked back at the three humans not sure what was going to become of them. He couldn't save them all. That much he knew. "You guys ready for this?"
"Yea." All three nodded swallowing nervously while also shivering at the sight of the wolves enclosing in on them.
"Well fuck, you don't look ready." It was the most human response they have ever seen from Jerry and it could have been a moment of hilarity but they were all about to die so there was no time for laughter.
Then something struck inside of the demons chest, causing him sudden pain. He dropped instantly to his knees, planting one hand on the ground to keep himself steady as the other hand jolted in spasms.
"Jerry, what's wrong?" Charley asked as he hurried to kneel by his side with a supporting hand on his back.
Then the vampire roared in what sounded like agony and demolition. Charley quickly backed away. It was so dark and deafening; it stopped the wolves from attacking. Instead they backed away in fear seeing that the blacked haired vampire wasn't agonized at all. He was turning. Jerry roared again, as the real demon inside scorched through his veins. It was so terrifying the flying demons stopped attacking the humans as they prepared themselves for a much higher evil. They aimed their direction to the sound of the tortured cry.
Even Amy and Peter were scared shitless. Terror riding up their throat paling out their faces. "Wha, wha what's happening?" Amy stuttered hiding behind Charley and Peter, shaking as if it was a winter day.
Charley watched as Jerry tore away his own skin just so that he could let the beasts' who consumed him free.
"Let's go. We need to go." Amy pulled on Charley aggressively and in an utter panic to leave.
Jerry's spine split in two, like the vampire and werewolf in him were fighting to see who can get out first. Blood fell from his mouth like a tainted waterfall making room for new blood.
Peter swallowed with eyes as wide and terrified as they could get. In all his years as a vampire slayer he'd seen a lot of shit. This was new. This was some thing else. This was something that made you want to drink yourself to death. His parents never even had the pleasure of seeing shit like this. "I'm thinking I agree with the girl. Again. Charley, we need to go."
But Charley was too intrigued. Too consumed in this part of Jerry he's never seen before. He was actually scared for him because he had no idea what was happening and by the looks of it neither did Jerry.
The blacked haired mans eyes weren't golden yellow like a wolf or coal black like a vampire. They were red like the blood that was emptying from his body.
One wing tore through his shoulder blade while the other struggled to come out and the conversion, the change, began to happen one body part at a time. Like a normal transformation but a lot more gruesome. A lot more painful. Slow.
Muscles were stretching, skin was tearing. Bones were breaking. But this wasn't a vampire transformation or a wolf transformation. The fur on the wings meant that he was a combination, a hybrid, one would classify as the most powerful kind of supernatural being. Which is why the dogs backed away in fear, waiting for their masters orders. Which is why the vampires screeched and stayed a good distance, hiding in intimidation.
But Nathaniel looked the most surprised.
Amy was clinging to Charley as tight a possible watching Jerry change. But also wanting to leave immediately. Ever since she's met Jerry, her nightmares haven't stopped. And she now knew they were going to continue. But Charley wasn't afraid like the rest. He walked slowly up to Jerry as the man was turning, reassuring Amy that he was alright.
He could tell that Jerry was fighting to keep from mutating thus the struggle. He could also tell it would have been a lot more painless if he just allowed it but he must have been hiding this side for a reason. Bloody wings were finally extended out behind him. The fur had shed prematurely leaving his skin a pure black, his skin cracked like volcano rock. He looked more man than wolf. More man than bat. And though he appeared as a dark angel, the animals were in control.
"Charley get away from him!" Amy cried as she looked at the unrecognizable devil standing with his naked back at them.
"That's not Jerry." Peter tried to warn the kid. "That's something else."
"It is Jerry. He won't hurt me." The kid turned to them both and put up a hand gesturing them to stay put.
"Jerry?" He called with a small voice. Then the winged human beast turned to the kid, facing him devilishly. Charley remained brave. He's been chased by four legged creatures and flying bats and though there was something even more terrifying about a demon as black as coal, with eyes that could make you bleed, towering over you, he knew him only as Jerry. He didn't consider Jerry a beast because he looked like Jerry, just a more evil form of Jerry. Like an angel of death.
"Jerry, do you remember me?" Charley asked as he approached him unafraid.
Jerry growled at him. It was unusual. It sounded like multiple snarls coming from one voice, like the screaming souls of those burning for eternity were clinging at his throat. Charley didn't back away or flinch once. Jerry knew that Charley wasn't afraid of him anymore and Charley knew that Jerry would never hurt him.
"Jerry. It's me. Charley."
Jerry just roared at him again, snapping his angry fangs at the boy. It was hard to tell if he was going to attack or not. It was hard to tell if Jerry even had memories of Charley. The beast in a way looked hesitant. But he also looked ready to show aggression if tampered. But the kid had a hold on him, reaching out slowly to touch him as if he always yearned to.
Peter not feeling good about this, grabbed Charley and the book in a safe pull. "We really need to go. The 'I might shit my pants' kind of go."
"If I talk to him and he remembers me he won't attack us. He doesn't even know who he is right now. If he doesn't remember us and we run, he'll kill us."
"He's not really going to kill us is he?" Amy was really wanting Jerry to turn back into old Jerry right about now.
"We don't know what we're dealing with. Which is why we should go incase he doesn't remember you. If Jerry doesn't remember Jerry he'll attack us regardless. And by the looks of it, he's much more likely. I'd rather die by these other wolves. At least they will give me a quick death. This new Jerry looks like he'll swallow us whole, spit us out, puke on us, lick us clean, then nibble on our bodies like a dogs chew toy, get bored, play with us, then get bored again, rape us and then kill us…like he's originally suppose to. I'm not okay with that."
Amy fainted. Like immediately after Peter's self made theory. And Peter and Charley looked at her and blinked.
"Did she just..?" Charley frowned not even able to finish the question because of the absurdity. It just wasn't the time or place to fall unconscious.
"Oh fuck." Peter sighed at a fault as he knelt by her side to check her pulse and make sure that she didn't die of shock.
Then Jerry eagerly screeched at them, gaining back their attention and they both quickly gave it. Looking like if they made any sudden movement, they'd be dead before they knew it.
"Charley, he's staring at us."
"I know."
"He looks hungry."
"I fucking know."
"I think we're dead. I think we're dying."
"Shut the fuck up." Charley quietly muttered. "Let me try something."
"Bad idea."
"Look we need him. The wolves aren't attacking because they fear him. The vampires aren't even coming close. We need him on our side." Charley bravely started to inch closer to Jerry and ignoring everything Peter just said. The boy remained cautious, keeping eye contact, meeting the demons eyes to let him know that he wasn't trying to challenge him or to hurt him.
"This is really not safe." Peter said, really wanting Charley to be careful.
"He doesn't want to attack unless he must." Charley noticed.
"Well, don't instigate him."
"I'm not instigating him."
"I feel like you're instigating him."
"Jerry, I recognize you. I hope you recognize me. I don't want to hurt you." The boy whispered carefully. "You've saved me a thousand times before, but I remember when you saved me for the very first time. I was being chased by a werewolf down an alley. I had just witnessed a number of boys being mutilated and I was scared to death. I didn't know what was happening, so I ran and didn't look back. I remember falling and hitting my head knowing that wolf was still behind me."
Charley reached his hand out.
"Then you came for me. You were there and you approached me, singing your favorite song and then you attacked the wolf, saving me. You risked your life for me. That was important, you know, that you came. And you always do."
Peter watched attentively as the monster took a step forward ready to defend Charley if needed. Then Charley shuddered noticeably when Jerry moved in enough allowing him to touch him. The kid smiled as he softly touched Jerry's face. "Jerry, if you can understand me, if you remember me, than you'd know I need your help. I can't live on if you don't. None of us can."
A softness happened in the demon eyes and the second Jerry lifted his icy hand to touch Charley back, a full on attack was made. Multiple guns firing at him. Jerry screamed out as bullets pierced his flesh. He quickly jumped in front of Charley protecting him first and foremost. Wolves had sprinted towards him and vampire bats swept low but they got to close and they were all instantly decapitated by just one swipe of his wing.
After they witnessed how easy it was for the beast to kill ten supernatural beings all at once, Prometheus' men fired more, forcing the unknown demon to back down.
"Fire until he has no more fight left in him!" Crassus shouted with authority. More SUV'S pulled up. And more men with firearms started to shoot at Jerry. Despite Jerry's new form, he was still able to bleed. Pain was still real for him.
The demon roared in agony. Faltering back as they tormented him with their constant bullets. The blasts distracting him.
Nathaniel landed before them, his wings mounting back inside of his back. "Stand down men." He lifted his voice, as he strode the streets, stopping before the fallen creature. "We don't want to harm the boy now do we?"
Charley rushed towards Jerry. He was afraid to touch him. Afraid to help. "Jerry?" The boy was scared as he dropped to his knees beside the beaten creature. He didn't know what to do. He's never seen Jerry heave this much as if his lungs couldn't capture air.
"It's called silver nitrate kid. A poison used to take down wolves. In Jerry's case it'll just slow him down because after all he's not just wolf. But let's see what happens if the silver gets to his brain." Nathaniel pulled out a handgun and aimed it at Jerry's head. Then he chuckled with a lack of grace.
"Leave him alone!" Charley yelled at him. "He's not attacking any of us." The boys love for Jerry was now evident and Nathaniel seemed a little envy stricken.
"I wonder why?" Nathaniel asked himself sarcastically. "Why aren't you attacking, Jerry? Are you frightened of your new form? You hate humans right? Well there are plenty of them for you to have at." Nathaniel grabbed Charley by the neck of his shirt and lifted him out of the way, tossing him over by Peter. He now faced Jerry. Who was easily becoming his eternal enemy.
"Why isn't he fighting?" Peter asked Charley.
"He doesn't know what team he's on anymore. He doesn't remember what he's fighting for." Charley said quietly like he was answering himself.
"Right. That makes sense. The inconsistency is fucking with him. He knows that the second he kills, he'll lose control."
"That would be bad."
"Very. He can't store blood like a normal vampire. That's why he constantly kills and snacks because he can't survive if he doesn't. He has too many demons to feed, including the man he once was. Or still is. Once he starts to kill he won't stop, Charley. You're the only reason why he's holding back."
Nathaniel chuckled walking away from Jerry. "And there is nothing more Jerry likes most than the taste of a human, right Charley?"
The kid just glared at him.
Then Nathaniel twirled his long nailed pointer. "Restrain him. He's coming back with us." He ordered Prometheus' men.
Charley tried running back to Jerry, but the blonde vampire quickly grabbed him again. "Whoa slow down there. You can't help him now. It's time for Jerry's nap."
Jerry then felt a shocking wave of something changing inside of him. He breathed in deeply. He got back to a stance as he drew back quickly. The silver was affecting him in a harsh way. The poison that had injected inside of him seemed to fuck with his mutation.
Heads were now up. The dogs looked horrified. One look in his eyes and the weak, newly born vampires screeched away in pressure and submission. Normal Jerry was already difficult to handle. They learned the hard way. To stop Jerry was to cage in him. Charley being his cage, his weakness.
"What's happening. What did you do to him?" Charley asked as Nathaniel still had a hold on him. The blonde squinted in interest as he waited to see what would happen next.
The bullets were melting inside of his punctured flesh. Jerry was laughing a deeply disturbed laugh. He laughed and laughed. Like everything was funny. It wasn't a chuckle, it wasn't a scoff…it was an actual wicked laugh. Then he stopped and a dark grin consumed his face. He mutated back and forth between his human looking self and the multiple creatures consuming him from the inside. But the animals inside of him weren't happy being hidden away. They weren't happy being shot at. But Jerry fought for them to stay inside. He couldn't release them. It was too dangerous for Charley. It was too dangerous for everyone. Even for himself.
"He's agitated. That's all." Nathaniel chuckled as he answered the boys question.
"Let's end this. Now." Crassus said impatiently as he lifted his gun and shot Jerry in the shoulder with the silver but it did nothing. Then everyone brought their weapons back up and shot at him but this time openly and consistently. But Jerry just emerged from the debris of the fire standing back up slowly. Weakly. Always ready to fight even though it was becoming a meaningless one. Charley was right. They had set him up. They didn't know that he would become whatever the hell he was but they were expecting him at some point.
To get rid of him, to stop him was the key to it all.
"Stop firing at him, he won't attack!"
The wolves ignored him and approached Jerry closer. It was like a bunch of bullies picking on one innocent student. Except, Jerry wasn't innocent.
He screamed out in a terrorizing pain. And any one who had even attempted to get close, collapsed. It happened in just a matter of seconds. Prometheus looked around once he saw his men drop like dead fly's and the bats that had soared within Jerry's radius burst into flames. Nathaniel looked confused. He looked around at the dead men. Then he turned back at Jerry. He looked at him as if that wasn't possible. Vampires had the power to possess, to tempt, but not the power to diminish like that.
"What is he Peter?" Charley looked sad. They were right. This was no longer Jerry.
"I have no idea. This is new. I've never seen this. It's a new evolution of some sort. No ones seen it."
Prometheus came to finalize things, pissed that more of his men had met their end by the same guy. He landed behind Jerry and shot him in the spine injecting him with the tainted blood. It was one thing he knew would work on him. Maybe not immediately but it would fair. Jerry ripped the dart out and roared at the Lycan leader. He would have killed Prometheus but was distracted by more shots as the silver pierced his head and the side of his face. This gave Prometheus time to reload. Then he shot Jerry a couple more times in the neck with a lot more than what he dosed him with last time. Much deadlier than before. And since they came prepared for him, Jerry was aware that he was going to lose this battle. This was the part he feared the most. Knowing that this was the moment he would fail Charley. He could have destroyed them all. But that would have included Charley.
"You're weak Jerry. Why do you continue to fight? Do you enjoy the struggle?" Nathaniel directed at him. "Who are you fighting for?" He questioned as he walked towards the unusual being before him. "Is it Charley?" Then the blonde vampire chuckled when he realized Jerry wasn't going to answer him. "I apologize that things have to end this way but your little fuck toy is coming with us. He's not yours anymore. You've failed him and you've failed yourself... but things go wrong I suppose. Even supernatural beings like us, lose our place in line."
Jerry just allowed his ex friend to ridicule him. He said nothing. Nothing like he normally would. Usually he'd be full of insults and sarcastic remarks but this time he was letting Nathaniel win. He would have given Charley everything and now there was nothing else left to give. "Oh Jer, how you wish you could be everything that Charley needs."
Once the commotion stopped, the blacked haired demon fell back to his knees, his breathing labored. Tears were starting to form. Not of pain but of disappointment. He thought he was strong but he was now on his knees like the slave he used to be before the kid he was supposed to be strong for. He used to be able to stand whenever Charley was around but this time he couldn't get back up. He knew it. That was the hard part. The dead blood slowly making the vampire in him weak. The silver making the wolf in him weak. Sooner or later it would be just the human side left. His wings were slowly forging back into his shoulders. His claws were slipping back into his fingers. His fangs sinking back into his gums. His eyes beginning to close. Charley ran to him but Nathaniel quickly grabbed him away, swooping him up with a rounded arm around his waist. "I don't think so. Now it's my turn to protect you from him. He could hurt you you know, then we'd be fucked."
"Jerry!" He called but the vampire was quickly relapsing, his energy spent. His body falling into unconsciousness. "Jerry!"
Two winged creatures landed behind Peter and Amy. Peter protected Amy keeping her close from the savage bats as she was still out. One of the vampires reduced back into her human form and walked up to Peter with a grin on her face and sexy stride. "I'll take that." She said with a wide smirk and accent he recognized all to well. He gasped lightly recognizing her as Ginger. His turned assistant tip toed her fingers up the book that he held tight between his chest and arm and snatched it from him. He was in so much shock he didn't give her any difficulties in return. Then she backed away and turned into her vampire form and flew off with it.
"We'll examine that later. Thanks for finding it for us." Nathaniel said. Then he laughed hectically. "This is going to be a good day guys. Cheer up. Now let's make this as easy as we can kid." The blonde vampire threatened carefree. "Come with me."
"No." Charley denied bravely.
"I wish I could say you sounded like your father right there, but your father was a pussy."
"Fuck you."
"Oh I thought we were on the same page about him. I mean he's pretty worthless."
Charley narrowed his eyes in sadness. In heartache. He was right. His father was a pussy, an asshole and a worthless piece of shit.
"Fine." Nathaniel came up to Peter and grabbed him. He tossed him on the ground. "We can easily take you by force but uh, this game is better. How about I kill one of your friends here. Who goes first, Peter or the girl? Because I swear to God…" then he stopped himself. He didn't believe in God. He cleared his throat. "I swear, I'll rip out her throat with my hand in her sleep."
"You're not going to harm any of them."
"Okay so Amy goes first." The blonde man extended claws at her throat.
"Wait!"
Nathaniel smirked.
"I'll go with you. Just let her go."
"See that wasn't too hard."
He walked up to Nathaniel and the vampire quickly grabbed the boy by the neck as he shoved Amy's limp body towards another vampire. He turned him to face his friends. "Say goodbye now because this is the last time you're going to see them. My promises are pretty empty."
Charley tried fighting his way out of Nathaniel's grip as he saw his friends being taken away toward the sky by the large bats. "Where are you taking them!?"
"Don't worry, we're going to the same place. But you should have given your farewells."
"What are you going to do to them?" Charley was on the verge of tears mostly because he felt it was his fault they were in this mess.
Nathaniel leaned in towards him. "We're going to let the dogs be dogs. We actually owe them big time. They'll hunt and feed on your stupid little friends. Possible turn them. I don't know. Maybe they'll turn, maybe they won't. But just between you and I, the less dogs the better." He whispered as cruel as possible. Then he looked towards Prometheus. "You got Jerry?"
"We got him." The wolf leader sounded. "He's out. And don't think we didn't hear that."
"Good." Then Nathaniel looked back towards Charley. "You'll be coming with me. Gabriel really looks forward to meeting you. He's been very patient so far. You've been hard to get mostly because Jerry made it impossible for us but it's really up to him if he decides to take his time with you. "
"I don't care what he does to me. Please don't hurt my friends."
"You're going to have to convince Prometheus. Not me. It's his men who will feast on your friends tonight and I don't know if you know this but, the dogs don't care if you shed tears for them or not and I certainly can't get them to care."
"I don't know if you know this but if you harm me, or any of my friends, you will die a pretty shitty death. And your dogs will follow right after."
"What?" Nathaniel looked mind blown by the threat. "Human threats are minor to a more superior being."
"Oh Nathaniel, the things I can't wait to see happen to you. It's not my threats you should worry about. But after Jerry rips out your fucking throat and drains every last amount of liquid that pumps through your veins on a daily, he'll see you in hell for a second time and will rip out your throat again and again until he's fucking satisfied. And then he'll probably rip off the dick from the devil himself and feed it to you. And then you're going to wish you and Jerry had stayed friends. He will not make this easy for you. I will make sure that he doesn't make this easy for you. The pain that he will make you feel will be a pain worse than the devil butt fucking you with his new garlic scented, fire consumed, stake shaped dick."
Nathaniel chuckled at the severity to this tone. Not taking the boy seriously but... taking him seriously. He kind of left him no choice. He also didn't know Charley had it in him. It's like he was hanging around Jerry too long. Or maybe Charley was just really a freak. "Well, I'm sorry to break the news to you kid, Jerry's going to be punished and his punishment wont be complete until he watches the life leave your skinny body."
"How about you just take me to wherever the fuck you're going to take me."
Nathaniel glared harshly. Charley just gave him a hard stare in return.
Charley watched as Nathaniel formed into his creature, the facade of his mortal human vanishing within himself and it was just as discomforting to watch as any vampire transformation he's seen. He picked up the boy with a forceful claw wrapped at his throat and flew off toward the sky. Prometheus and his pack of dogs watched as the vampire took off with the human towards the direction of the main fortress. Crassus and Prometheus returned to their cars where they had restrained Jerry who was now in a deep sleep. They followed the bats the rest of the way while leaving the rest of the city to be slaughtered.
Dim lights in the unfinished basement were flicking uncontrollably, a supernatural disturbance causing them to react. The dirt walls were breaking apart as bodies of the Undead shoved their way through the thick layers of the blockade, shrieking wildly as they freed themselves from their nap.
Charley suddenly startled, shot open his panicky eyes from what he thought was another bad dream. He had been having plenty of those moments. Waking up from nightmares just to be reminded that he was actually living in one. Needless to say he preferred to be in the dreaming state. Anyone would.
The boy instantly leaned up taking in heavy breaths like the air had just escaped him. He glanced around realizing that wherever the hell he was wasn't recognizable.
After he became steadier despite every muscle in his body throbbing like a broken heart trying to repair itself he quickly removed himself from the unfamiliar bed covered in white silky sheets. It had to have been Gabriel's lair, he thought.
The room was dark; nearly pitch black and the only thing reminding him that he wasn't going blind was the bright moon piercing through laced white drapes hanging thinly between the dark quarters and a large open balcony.
He slowly began to move towards the light. He frowned as he lifted the hangings over his head stepping outside the room and on to a cold wet terrace. It could have been stunning if it wasn't so deep in the shadows.
Charley walked to where his hands met the rail of the rounded barrier, before him a complete wasteland. Desert and more desert leading to nowhere and he knew he was a far way from home.
His green eyes shuddered as he looked out and down the darkened primitive fortress, formed inside one of the deserts tall red mountains. He was so high up from the ground. It made him feel alone.
Then an endless of panicked thoughts shot through his head as he remembered the attack on the city. Remembering his friends being taken away…They could be dead. His mom could be dead. When he had left the city, it was in ruins. Just like his life. Everyone could be dead.
He started to feel lightheaded. An uncalled for feeling churned in his stomach, giving him the need to heave but that feeling was interrupted when he quickly looked up towards the sky with eyes wide when the moon became overshadowed, like a blanket being thrown over a lamp, as a flock of vampire bats swept over the dry land, above the skies, exiting from the peak of the hidden tower. There were thousands of them screeching furiously calling out in the dark waking up the sounds of howls from deep beneath the ground. He watched as they disappeared into the night.
There was nothing he could do now. It couldn't be stopped. He was certain of it now.
There was a change in the moon. It was dark red. Like dry blood. Signifying bloodshed.
There was a change in the weather. It was moist and stale. As small drops of rain trickled from the sky onto his pale face. It was the beginning of a new storm. It was the beginning of more tears.
There was a change in his heart. He felt the beat of it coming to an end.
And from this day forward, nothing would be simple. Nothing would be the same again.
