Chapter Twenty-One: The Source of Pure Evil

Pearl's POV

We made our way to the top of cliff that overlooked what was once Beach City. When we reached the top, we came face to face with the source of pure evil: Nightmare. The being stood prideful, looking down at the ruins of what was once Beach City.

"Well well," he chuckled, "If it isn't little miss Good Samaritan and her friends. Come to watch me harvest the soul of your friend here?!"

We turned to look at where Nightmare was pointing. There, bound against a tree, was Elsa's sister Anna, struggling to escape Nightmare's wrath.

"Anna!" Elsa cried out in agony.

Steven then got mad, he stepped forward and spoke up to the misanthrope.

"You won't get away with this Nightmare!" he shouted angrily at him.

"Oh, but I've already have," he chuckled, "You see, your suffering only makes me stronger! Once I take the soul of your friend's sister, I will be unstoppable, and then I will cover this planet in darkness, and there's nothing you can do about it!"

That was the last straw, we had to do something. I turned to Garnet, who noticed me facing her. I nodded my head and she replied back with a nod as well. I then turned to Amethyst and did the same thing to her, and she nodded back as well. We then rushed forward, ready to bring an end to Nightmare.

Garnet made the first move and attempted to smack Nightmare hard with an uppercut, but he countered the attack by lifting her into the air with an upward slash. When she came plummeting to the ground, Nightmare impaled her straight through her gem. She then retreated to her gem.

"Ha, you are no match for me!" he laughed.

He then walked up to Garnet's gem and stomped on it, shattering it upon impact. Garnet was dead.

I could not believe it! Nightmare took out the gem leader without even trying! And to make things worst, he killed her by shattering her gem. Nightmare truly was pure evil. I looked back at Steven, and his face was just as shocked at witnessing Nightmare's power.

Amethyst then ran up to the tyrant and wrapped her whip around his legs. She managed to make him lose his footing and fall, but when she tried to attack him again with her whip, Nightmare grabbed the weapon with his large claw on his right hand, and crushed it. Amethyst let out a roar of anger and then jumped at Nightmare, but he grabbed her before she managed to attack him. He then held Amethyst up and crushed her with his massive claw, then threw her to the ground. Amethyst tried to regain her footing, but a stinging feeling interrupted her in her chest. Nightmare had skewed her right through her gem in the center of her chest. She then retreated to her gem.

"Pathetic, weakling," Nightmare laughed arrogantly.

He then picked up Amethyst's gem and crushed it in his claw, shattering it just like Garnet. She was dead too.

I gasped, Nightmare had taken down two of us, and now I was the only one left. I then let my energy out and rushed at Nightmare, ready to strike him with my spear. But my attack was countered when Nightmare raised his claw, clutching it into a fist and then slamming it down onto me. The pain spread throughout my body as I tried to regain my footing. He then picked me up by my neck and raised me into the air.

"You are pathetic and weak," he taunted me, "You and your friends will perish!"

He then crushed my necked harder before tossing me over his head. I landed face first into the ground, hard. When I regained my footing I then attempted to slash Nightmare with my spear, but just then, he quickly evaded it and then- AAAAAAAH!"

Steven's POV

"NO!" I cried out, "PEARL!"

Nightmare had impaled her in the exact same spot where she was previously impaled by Holo-Pearl many months earlier. I then watch painfully as Nightmare removed Soul Edge from her chest, before her body retreated into her gem.

"Your soul is MINE!" Nightmare laughed.

He then picked up Pearl's gem and threw it into the air; he then swung his sword at it and upon impact, the gem shattered. Pearl was dead.

"NO!" I cried out in agony, before bursting into tears.

"Aw, you're suffering," Nightmare mocked me, "How it make me more powerful!"

Nightmare then approached Elsa's sister, and then spoke once more.

"And, now you will suffer the same fate as your friends just did! He laughed.

Next thing that happened was something I didn't want to witness either; Nightmare drove his blade straight through Anna's heart as she screamed in pain.

"NO ANNA!" Elsa cried.

Nightmare had done it; he killed Anna and claimed her soul with Soul Edge. Calla, Elsa, and I watched as Nightmare turned around a spoke once more.

"Yes! Now that I have your friend's soul I am unstoppable!" Nightmare laughed, "And now I will covered this planet with my power and crush everyone!"

He then let out a long, evil laugh. The end of this planet had just begun!
