Spoilers for tonight's episode. (minor)
Jesus watched Callie walk down the stairs again with a bag in her hand.
She had to leave again. He watched her smile and pretend it was okay. But he could see it in her eyes. She was scared and sad. She was lost.
She looked like a little girl and he saw Mariana. Callie may have been older but at the moment he felt like she was his baby sister.
Then he saw Jude. Jude who was his brother and roommate. He had a backpack on.
Jesus felt his heart break when he heard that Jude wanted to leave with Callie. Jude was adopted but he still wanted to go with his sister.
He was Callie's eyes shine with unshed tears as she told Jude she would be okay.
She kept repeating the words "it'll be okay."
He was Jude's shoulder's slump. He understood why. Callie had raised Jude. They were hardly ever apart. When Callie was arrested, Jude knew she would be back for him. When Callie left, Jude knew that Callie would come back soon. He also knew he was safe. But the first time, he had no idea where she was going or if/when she was coming back.
Callie turned away but she gave him a look. Jesus knew what the look meant. She was asking him to look after Jude. He nodded slightly.
Callie walked out the door and Jude stared after her. Lena reached toward Jude but he moved away.
He walked up the stairs and went to his room. Jesus and the others all heard the door close.
Stef came in and saw them looking up the stairs. She said nothing.
"So much for having everyone at the table."
Stef ushered then all into the kitchen where they ate. Jude didn't come down.
After dinner Emma came, and he threw himself into math. Seeing Emma and after everything had happened, it just came out. He told her the truth about his Saturday plans.
Emma froze but then she smiled. Jesus knew she was more hurt of not being included than about him lying. For the first, time she was a girl on the team.
They continued on but he promised he would fix it.
When he went to bed that night, he brought up a plate of food for Jude. He placed the plate on the desk and changed into his pajamas. Jude said nothing. He simply turned and faced the wall and turned off the light.
That night, Jesus couldn't sleep. Jude kept tossing and turning and Jesus was worried about him.
Callie needed to come home.
The next morning, he managed to get Jude to have a few pieces of bacon in his stomach. He walked Jude to class and told Conner to get him if anything happen. Conner nodded and squeezed Jude's hand. Jesus watched to two sit down and then went to find his coach.
When he talked to him, coach laughed at his idea.
"Foster, mark my words, you will be in practice today. Emma isn't going to let you out easy. She is going to put all of you in your places."
Jesus grinned at this. He walked out to find Emma and smiled as she put him in his place. The coach was right.
Jesus pulled at his shirt. He and Emma had come to Jude's speech thing. it was after practice so they showered and got changed quickly. He scanned the room, seeing Jude's face and no Callie.
"Callie's not here."
Emma kissed his cheek.
"She'll be home tonight. Stef isn't going to give up."
Jesus nodded. He knew that his mom was stubborn.
After the speech was over, everyone went to hug him. When it was his turn Jesus made sure to hug him extra tightly.
When they got home, Stef said that she had to run a last minute errand.
Half an hour later, Callie was walking through the front door.
Lena reached her first and then he did. He wrapped his arms around her tightly and felt her squeeze him.
"Welcome home sis." He whispered.
Mariana joined in and Callie laughed.
Then it was Jude's turn.
Jesus watched as Callie and Jude hugged each other very tightly.
With a few words, Jude was smiling again and Callie was too. They settled down to hear Jude's speech and this time he really heard it.
He looked at Jude and smiled. Jude was his brother, in every way but blood. But blood didn't matter when it came to families. All that mattered was the love in them.
That night, he knocked on Mariana and Callie's door. Mariana was taking a shower and Callie was unpacking.
He went into the room and sat on Callie's bed.
Callie hung up the last of her clothes and sat down next to him.
"You're home. Emma said you would be."
Callie laughed. She then laid her head on his shoulder.
"We all missed you. Jude was really lost today."
Callie nodded. "I was so worried about him."
"You know it doesn't matter to me if you are adopted or not. You are still my sister. My second forever sister."
Callie looked at him.
"Family doesn't just mean blood. Family is love. And we love you. Jude loves you. I love you."
Jesus hugged her to his side.
"Can I be honest? A part of me wanted to with you. I thought to myself if that Jude goes with her, I was going to get my bag and go with them."
Callie laughed. "You would have hated it there."
Jesus laughed. Then he turned to look in her in the eyes.
"You're my sister and I got your back. You're my family. We are your forever family. No one here is going to let you go. No one. You are too important here."
Callie nodded and blinked away tears.
Jesus kissed her forehead.
"Sweet dreams Princesa."
When Mariana came in, he kissed her goodnight and wished her sweet dreams too.
He went to his room and gave Jude a tight hug and tucked him into bed. He then sent Emma a quick text.
You were right. Callie's home.
I told you. I'm usually right.
Good night Emma.
Good night Jesus.
Jesus closed his eyes and fell asleep. Everyone was home. His family was home.
So I couldn't resist! Tell me what you think! And who is looking forward to next Monday? I can't wait!
