Hey guys, I'm sorry for the slow update. School's been crazy!

So whoa, the fall finale? Breath taking. I hope Matt's going to be okay, and I hope everything's going to be okay with Matt and Gabby.

Gah! Can't wait until January!

CASEY POV.

Her leg was bouncing with what seemed to be endless energy, as we both sat nervously in the clinic room waiting for the doctor to arrive to tell us the gender of our baby.

We were meant to find out the baby's gender at Gabby's 20 week scan, but the baby was facing the wrong way so the doctor could not tell whether they were a girl or a boy. So after six weeks of agitation, uncontained excitement and never-ending moans about what colour the nursery should be, we were here.

Gabby frowns, "Even if we don't find out the baby's gender today, we're painting the nursery green," her voice was defiant which meant she'd made up her mind and now there was no arguing with her, so I chuckled, rubbing her arm comfortingly, knowing how frustrating these past few weeks had been for her.

"Well, Kelly and I are painting the nursery," I correct, "you know you can't be around the paint."

She huffs but nods as she instinctively rubbed her belly, something that I noticed was becoming a great comfort to both her and myself, as she smiles, "You know, if the Chief's right and the baby is a boy, he'll be collecting winnings of $100."

I laugh watching how her eyes glisten with every word said about our baby, "I don't know why anyone bet against him, with the way the baby kicks it has to be a boy."

Gabby rolls her eyes quickly planting a kiss on my lips just as the doctor walked in.

"Mr and Mrs Casey? Are you ready to find out the gender of your baby?"

Now it was me getting restless as I waited for Gabby to end her shift at the training academy, so she could come to the house and announce the baby's gender with me. Earlier today we'd found out, and the moment was so precious I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

Gabby was crying, the tears in her eyes flowing freely down her beautiful smiling face. She strokes my cheek, and it was then I realised I was crying too. Crying with overwhelming joy and happiness, crying at seeing our baby wiggle around in their mothers stomach, crying with so much love for someone we had yet to meet.

"I can't wait," I whisper, my eyes fixed on the screen where my baby wriggled around. Absolutely perfect.

Gabby laughs, blubbering with the sound, "I love you Matt."

"I love you baby," I murmur, kissing her wet lips and then turning to the screen I murmur, "And I love you too, baby."

She laughs again and another stream of tears falls from her eyes, as they gaze at me, completely adoring.

I wasn't sure what I did to deserve such a loving, beautiful, wonderful wife and to then have the honour of having a child with her, but there was no doubt in my mind that I would never give this up for anything, never.

I pull out my phone, 6:15 it read, her shift was finished.

Where are you? I text.

In a cab, I won't be long:)

That's still too long... Shay keeps pestering me.

Tell her she can wait until longer.

I really meant I can't wait any longer.

I know, but the more time I spend distracting you over text the less time you have to blab your mouth.

Funny.

You must have had a quiet day.

It's not the same without you here. We miss your cooking. Mouch sent out a search party a couple of days ago.

It's nice to know I'm only appreciated for my cooking. And that search party is clearly useless.

Why?

I may or may not have chicken tortillas with me.

Let's hope that's a yes...

Mmmm, yep, just as good as I thought.

I laugh to myself which earns me a few funny looks before I explain, "Gabby's on her way over. She's bringing tortillas."

They all cheer, as if for the time she's been gone we've been deprived of food. Otis teases, "Search party worked Mouch!" and Mouch scowls in return, flicking over the channel.

"So how's our girl doing with the trainees anyway Casey?" Herrmann asks, his thick rasp still ever-present, patting my shoulder as he passed to sit in the chair opposite me.

"Ah you know, Gabby likes it there but she really misses this place a lot. Complains about Chief not allowing her to stay here longer, but she's doing okay."

It was only then did I realise Chief was in the room, apparently smirking at what I just said, "Let's pretend I didn't hear that," he chuckles.

I nod, "Let's," before Otis pips up with a question.

"So how many weeks is Dawson now?"

Mouch rolls his eyes, "Yeesh Otis, do you pay attention to anything in this house? Haven't you noticed Shay's 'countdown whiteboard?' Gabriela's 26 weeks pregnant."

It was true, just above the dinner table was a whiteboard entitled 'Weeks until baby Casey arrives' and underneath it wrote 'Dawson's 26 weeks guys! 14 more to go!"

And then the alarm went off to the sound of Kelly's voice "Hormonal lady in the house baring grub!"

We all head towards the garage to find walking up through the driveway, bag in one hand and food in the other. By the time I made it there, Kelly had already taken both the food and her bag from her, earning a moan of 'Kelly, I can still carry things you know.'

He grins and she smiles back, "Well I'm a gentleman at heart Gabs."

Gabby reaches me, her glossy brown hair swaying at the shoulders and her lips pink with a smile. She wore thick-heeled boots and leggins, with her thick blue coat wrapped tightly around her. I kiss her clutching her hand, murmuring against her lips, "Did I tell you how much I missed you?"

"A couple times," she giggles, wrapping her arm around my waist.

"So come on!" Shay shrieks with excitement, "We've been waiting all day, boy or girl?"

Gabby rolls her eyes, laughing at Shay's excitement but practically bouncing at her own. The rest of the guys watched on, tied to her every word, enthused on what she was about to say.

"Well guys," she smiles, turning to the Chief, "I think you all owe the Chief $100."

Herrmann, Cruz, Otis, Mouch and Kelly all pull out $20 and hand it to the Chief who chuckled and nodded in our direction, "I think we have another little firefighter on the way!"

Gabby's smile softens, "Thank you Chief," she murmurs, as the guys cheer and clap and Shay throws her arms around Gabby, squeezing tightly.

"I'm so damned proud for you guys! But now we have to think about names..."

As we all tuck into Gabby's delicious dinner her and Shay ramble on about baby names, I watch them blurt out names to each other their eyes alive with love for our unborn child, and Gabby and I caught eyes, she soundlessly says "Thank you."

I reply wordlessly, "For what?"

"Everything."

"Whoa."

Gabby smiles and puts down the baby magazine she was reading at the table, Jack stood at her feet, an awed look on his face. I looked over to his dad who was sat beside Mouch on the sofa, Jack was a picture of him.

"What is it Jack?" Gabby asks softly, her tone curious with what he was thinking. Shay's head snapped up, watching Jack beam up at Gabby his megawatt smile.

He points at Gabby's stomach, "Your belly, it's big!" he exclaims and Gabby bites her lip, as Shay looks partially horrified and amused, while Kelly bursts out with laughter channeling Mouch, Herrmann and Mills' reactions.

"Jack, that's because Gabby has a baby inside her, remember," Shay explains slowly, as Gabby's stunned expression leaves her and she smiles lovingly down at him.

The one and a half-year old nods, "Yep, did you eat baby Gabby?"

Gabby laughs and shakes her head as she lifts Jack onto her knee, "No Jack, the baby's growing inside me."

Kelly heads over to me muttering in my ear, "I can see where this is going," and he leans against my chair, watching the scene unfold with a small smile on his lips.

His blue eyes widen with shock, "How did they be there?"

"Magic," Gabby replies after a moment, as everyone else was racking their brains to try to explain this to a little kid and Gabby did it effortlessly.

"Wow," he murmurs.

Gabby smiles, "Do you want to feel the baby kicking?" Jack nods enthusiastically and Gabby takes his tiny hand, and places it on her growing belly.

"Mom! I feel the baby!" He exclaims and Shay coos, "That's great sweetie."

"C'sey?" Jack asks with his improving speech.

"Yeah bud?"

His grins, his eyes full of mischief, "Can I be baby's friend?"

I nod my head, unable to keep the smile off my face, "Sure you can bud."

"Like you and daddy?" Jack asks looking up at his dad, who looked down at me, smiling.

Kelly ruffles Jack's black hair, "Brothers then Jack."

KELLY POV.

We were so drunk. Absolutely drunk.

Gabby made Matt come out with 51 and I, as she'd said that he needed to 'get out with the boys'. It was nearing one in morning, so we were trying to get Matt home safely, but that was proving difficult.

"I'm having a baby boy Kelly!" Matt yells as he danced down the street waving his hands erratically, screaming about Gabby and his baby.

I grin following behind him, "I hear you Matt!"

He whips around quickly on his feet, stumbling slightly before Herrmann caught him, "With my beautiful wife. Do you know how absolutely freaking amazing she is, huh? How the heck did I end up with her? She's phenomenal!"

Herrmann rasps, "We know Casey, we know how great Dawson is!"

Matt falls onto me and I have to prop him up, "I love her Kelly, I really really do... and my baby boy. I love them both."

"And I'm always gonna be there for them, because they deserve someone to protect and love them, and I'm gonna do that, you know?"

I smile, leading Matt down the street towards his house, "I know you are Matt, you already do."

"I hope so, because my wife is damn sexy!"

I chuckle, "Yeah yeah, Romeo. Come on, you're almost home."

Matt punches his hand to the sky screeching, "Home is where the heart is!"

"Come on, loverboy."

GABBY POV.

Kelly had somehow managed to get Matt home and then headed home himself after kissing my cheek goodnight and good luck. Matt flops down on the sofa, snuggling into my side.

He clutches my hand, kissing my knuckles, "You're wonderfully beautiful, do you know that?"

I chuckle, patting his puffy cheek, "Thank you."

"And do you know what makes you even more beautiful, if that's possible?"

"What?"

He pokes my belly gently, "You're carrying our baby."

I kiss his head before he wiggles down to be face to face with my stomach before murmuring, "Hey bud, it's your daddy."

I don't say a word, I just listen. These little conversations between Matt and our baby were becoming more and more often, and I absolutely loved them.

"You know, your momma and I are so excited to meet you. Your mom's been driving me crazy over getting the nursery finished, even if we have plenty of time, but I know it's because she can't wait to hold you in her arms. Your momma's the most beautiful woman in the world and she loves you very much, so you're gonna respect and love her as much as you can you hear? And I know you will because she's just so in love with you, and so am I. I've loved your momma since the day I met her and we're gonna grow old and grey together at the Firehouse, with Shay and Kelly and the whole gang. They're gonna love you bud, and I know you're gonna love them because they're gonna be your family. Everyone can't wait to meet you bud."

Our baby had not stopped kicking since his dad had began speaking, I knew he loved his daddy's voice and so did I; I was crying with love for him.

Matt kisses my belly, his eyes gleaming with love and pride, "Just do me a little favour tonight yeah? Let you're momma get some sleep tonight, she deserves it okay? We love you buddy, so much, goodnight."

I was blubbering and bursting with love, "I love you, I love you so much."

He doesn't say anything, he doesn't have too, Matt just kisses me with so much love that could have lit up the whole world for forever.
