Hello forgive me for any grammar errors, I try really hard to catch them lol
Dean could hear rustling in the room, someone was there with him. He put a pillow over his head to block out the noise. He then felt the bed sink down on his right side. Then someone started shaking his arm. Dean groaned into the pillow, he just wanted to sleep. His head hurt, his throat ached, his body was sweaty, he just wanted to go back to sleep and hopefully when he woke up again he would feel better. But who ever it was, they were not going to let him doze off.
"Leave me alone La Reina.", Dean whispered hoarsely.
"Dean necesita levantarse para tomar su medicina."
Dean froze, where the hell was he? He pulled the pillow away from his face and stared up at soft brown eyes. They looked familiar. He quickly sat up and regretted it instantly, his head started to spin. He leaned his back against the headboard and closed his eyes trying to stop the dizziness. He felt confused and disoriented by his environment, trying to remember how he got there, he opened his eyes again. The middle aged woman sitting on the edge of his bed gave him a friendly smile. She looked familiar. She had long raven hair that was pulled up in bun with strands of gray throughout. She was not fat or thin but just right. Her face was oval shaped and her skin was olive colored. She had a few laugh lines that surrounded her mouth and some wrinkles around her eyes but other than that her skin was smooth.
"Yo soy la mama de Reina." Dean looked at her again in confusion, the only word he understood was Reina. Seeing his look of bewilderment for the second time she realized she was speaking to him in Spanish. "I am sorry. I am Reina's mom.", she said with a Spanish accent.
"Oh", Dean felt relieved to know he had not been kidnapped. "Where is La Reina?", Dean asked as he took a better look at the women in front of him. He could see the similarities, this was definitely La Reina's mom, but a smaller older version of her.
"She is with her brothers and sisters they went to visit some friends and family members. She told me to wake you up and give you your medicine but you wouldn't wake up earlier. You had me worried Dean." She again smiled at him warmly as she placed a tray of food over his lap.
"I am sorry Mrs. Dominguez. What time is it?", Dean said sheepishly.
"Call me Lety and it is one in the afternoon.", she said kindly. "Here.", she handed Dean a pill she had pulled out of her apron pocket and gave him the glass of water from the food tray. Dean took his medicine. Before he knew what was happening, La Reina's mom had one of her hands behind his head, gently leaning him forward and pressing her lips against his forehead. Dean was a little startled by the contact but did not pull away. He was unsure what to do. Her lips lingered on his forehead for a few seconds before she released him. "You are still very sick. You have a temperature of a 102. You need to rest and eat the soup I made for you.", Lety said as she caressed and cupped his cheek in a motherly fashion. Her gentleness, her softness, her concern for him, made him feel warm and fuzzy inside but not in a sexual way more of a safe and cozy way. She made him feel as if he were one of her sons. His own mother had never treated him this nice when he was sick.
She stood up and smoothed her yellow apron over her blue dress. "This remote is for the t.v., if you want to watch a program." She handed Dean the remote control. "I will be back to check on you."
"Thank you.", Dean said awkwardly.
"De nada mijo.", she said as she left the room.
Dean looked down at the tray the portion was big, there were two quesadillas and big bowl of soup. It was chicken soup with chucks of celery, carrots and potatoes topped with slices of avocado. It smelled so good that Dean's stomach started to growl. The soup was steaming hot so he blew on it before he eat a spoonful. It was the best homemade soup he had ever had or maybe it was because he was really hungry and hadn't eaten. Or maybe because La Reina's mom had made it especially for him.
La Reina was worried about Dean, her mom had told her that Dean had been sleeping all day. She went into the room to check on him, he was still sound asleep. She thought about waking him up but her mom said to leave him be that his body was tired from the illness.
Dean's phone started to go off. La Reina went to the night stand and grab his phone to shut it off, when she saw the screen read Hunter. La Reina hesitated for a moment but answered the phone.
"Hello, Hunter."
There was a pause on other side of the line. "I want to speak to Dean.", came the harsh voice of Hunter.
"He is asleep right now."
"Then wake him the hell up!"
"Hunter, I understand your -"
"I said wake him the hell up! Now!", Hunter yelled into the phone. He was losing his patience's with La Riena.
"He's sick and he is out from the medication."
"What do you mean he is sick?"
"Dean had been sick since we came back from Europe. He had been taking some over the counter medicine but it didn't seem to help. Anyways, it got worse at Survivor Series."
"Why didn't he say anything?"
"I don't know Hunter, maybe he didn't want to disappoint you by pulling out of the match. He knew how important it was for Team Authority to win."
There was another long pause and this time when Hunter spoke his voice was softer. "How is he?"
"He has been fighting a temperature of a 104. I went to Evan the trainer, he examined Dean and gave me medicine for him. He told me Dean could not be left alone. He is doing a little better but if he doesn't improve by tomorrow I will take him to the hospital."
"Where is he?"
"He is in California with me. I brought to my parents' house."
Hunter felt a little better knowing that Dean had not been a 100% that he had been sick. He could not believe how easy Dean had lost at Survivor Series. He had been disappointed, believing his faith in Dean had been misplaced.
"When he is better, tell him to call me."
"I will Hunter."
When Dean woke up again, he was facing the window. He could see that it was night time now. He turned to his other side and was about to go back to sleep when he saw La Reina sitting on her bed across from him.
She was leaning back on her elbows staring at him. "Hello, sleep head.", she said with a smile.
"Hello", Dean said as he smiled back.
"My mom says you have been sleeping all day."
Dean closed his eyes and nodded his head. He felt the bed sink in, in front of him. When he opened his eyes, La Reina was sitting beside him. He didn't know why he did it but he put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him and buried his face in her stomach. La Reina was surprised by Dean's contact, but then again he was usually affectionate when he was sick. She stroked the back of his sweaty head.
"Dean you need to get up take your medicine and eat something."
"I am not hungry." Dean could not get enough of her scent or the feel of her. She was like warm soft blanket that he made feel safe. He hated feeling so needy but his body ached and when he held her and she touched him, he felt better. She felt so cool against his hot flesh.
La Reina ran her fingers through his sweaty hair and then began to rub his shoulders. "Dean you need to eat something, so you can get your strength back." Dean shook his head no in her lap. La Reina smiled down at him, he remind her of when her baby brother would get sick.
"Hunter called."
That got Dean's attention. He lifted up his head and looked up at her. "What did he say?"
"I am not telling you anything until he take your medicine and eat something."
Dean groaned. "You are not playing fair. I am sick.", he said with a pout.
"Which is why you need to take your medicine and eat something."
Dean sat up and rested his back against the head board of the bed. La Reina pressed the back of her hand against his forehead. She was relieved to know that his temperature seemed to be going down. "How do you feel?"
"A little better, but still tired." Dean's eye lids were heavy as he spoke.
"Here take your medicine. I will be right back. I am going to get you something to eat."
Before he could say anything she was out the door. Dean closed his eyes and rested his head against the bed. He wondered what Hunter wanted. If he was still mad at him for losing.
A few minutes later, she was back with a tray of food. She put the tray across his lap and sat on her bed. It was soup again but this time it was beef with the same vegetables from earlier and a side of beans, rice and flour tortillas and a glass of juice. The portions were big again. "I don't think I can eat all this.", Dean said.
La Reina smirked. "Your a guy and my mom figures you have a big appetite like my brothers. Don't worry just eat what you can."
Like earlier the soup was really good. "Your mom is a good cook."
"Well she should be, my parents own their own restaurant remember."
"Can you cook like this?", Dean asked curiously as he put another spoonful into his mouth.
"I know some dishes. When I was living at home and old enough, I helped out in the restaurant. We all did as kids. When school was over, we all headed to the restaurant to do dishes or be the waitress or cooked. Its how my parents tried to keep us all out of trouble."
"When I wasn't in school, I would spend all my time out in the streets or at a friend's house, anything to avoid going home."
La Reina wanted to ask him why but she knew better than to ask.
"My mom would have a boyfriend over or client or a friend to shoot up with. I hated to see her that way and the things she would do to get her fix.", Dean said, his eyes looked distanced as he shared his memory of his mom. "It's the main reason I stay away from drugs. I didn't want to lose myself in them the way she would. When she would come down from her highs, it was awful. She would fidget and be anxious for her next fix. In the end, all that mattered to her were the drugs."
"Her lose. She missed out in knowing what a great son she had and what a great wrestle he is going to be."
Dean looked at La Reina. "How do you know that?"
"Dean you are the Money in the Bank winner. You have a contract that literally guarantees you the World Heavyweight Championship Title. How many guys can say that?"
Dean smiled, "Yeah, I guess."
"Plus you have Hunter backing you."
"Speaking about Hunter, what did he have to say?"
"He was surprised to find out you were sick. He said to call him when you are better."
"Was he mad?"
La Reina paused, she didn't want to tell him that he was, but she didn't want to keep things from him. "Yes, he was at first but then he seemed genuinely concerned when he found out you were sick."
Dean was pleased to know that Hunter was not angry anymore that he wanted Dean to call him. It was a phone call he was not looking forward to, because even though Hunter was not angry anymore. He was no longer the COO of the WWE and it was his fault.
