Chapter Twenty-One
That morning, Riley slowly woke up feeling well rested. Her limbs felt a bit tired though, but she guessed it had to do with last night's activities since Daryl surely had a lot of stamina. After three times he was still nudging her for more and even though she definitely didn't mind their lovemaking, enjoying every minute of it, after the fourth time, she gently had to let him know that she was really tired. The last thing she remembered before falling asleep in his arms was feeling his fingertips trailing along her bare back while his lips were brushing over her forehead.
She bit her lip recalling all four times, God, she never had that much sex before in one night. With her previous boyfriend she did it probably only two or three times a week. And it wasn't even that exiting, especially near the end of their relationship where it was pretty much non-existing. She bitterly recalled the reason behind that matter. She suddenly frowned when she caught herself thinking about her past, quickly trying to push away those thoughts.
Even though the world she was living in now was so dangerous that people could die at any time, it did brought her something good though and that were new friends whom cared for each other as if they were a family. But it also brought her something, or rather, someone special and that was the man who was sleeping peacefully half on top of her. Though she never would've thought that the two of them would actually end up together, it did prove to her that her perseverance with him actually had worked out. She had always known that there was something more about him than he'd led on. And now that she knew, she was never going to leave his side again.
The way he held her close during their lovemaking, the way his lips kissed her skin, gently trailing his fingers all over her body. It still surprised her that a man like him, who just radiated being all badass, hard and tough, would be so gentle with her. It was like he simply could sense what she liked.
That didn't mean she couldn't surprise him as well though. One time she unknowingly bit down on his neck as she held down his hands while she was on top, making him groan out in pleasure. Though he had to strength to easily overpower her, he just let her do it, seeming to like letting her in charge just as well she liked it when he took charge. She smirked, thinking back at the lustful look on his face when she had actually bit him. Heck, she had never taken charge before during sex, but with Daryl it was all about trying new things and she really liked to explore that together with him.
She looked down where Daryl was sleeping on her bare chest, his body half on top of hers as he had pulled one of his legs over hers like he was staking his claim. She smirked as she noticed that one of his hands had snaked itself around her left breast. That sneak.
The blanket covered him up to his waist, leaving her pretty much without any as it was pooled a bit above her knees. It didn't bother her at all since laying with this man really felt like sitting close to a fire, as she had told him once, he was toasty warm. She could probably sleep naked with him on the North Pole and she would still feel warm due to the heat from his body.
She slowly reached down to brush her hand over his shoulder, feeling his warm skin underneath her palm. She heard him let out a deep breath and felt his fingers twitch a little against her breast as he snuggled his head deeper into her chest. He was definitely still fast asleep.
To think she would've probably never met him if this world hadn't gone to shit was such a strange thought. But it also gave her this sudden feeling of panic. Losing him would break her, she knew it. She thought back at the feeling of despair she'd felt back at the farm. She had felt so lost. The moment she saw his face again after the blackness that had surrounded her was so overwhelming. She was sure that she had lost him forever. And there he was, like a knight in shining armor, saving her once again. She smiled as she brushed her thumb over his skin. She would stick to what she had told him, they would stay together, whatever would happen, she wasn't going to lose him ever again.
She suddenly heard some noises coming from behind their bedroom door, pulling her out of her thoughts. She heard Maggie and Glenn talking in hushed voices as they were going down the stairs. She looked at her watch that was placed on the nightstand, seeing it was already 10:24 in the morning. Apparently everyone decided to sleep in a little, tired from all the past events.
As she was laying there, she suddenly smelled food, making her stomach growl. She felt Daryl stir at the sound, making her aware that he was waking up. A few moments later she softly giggled when she felt the hairs of his scruffy beard brush against the swell of her breast as he moved his head.
He slowly looked up at her with tired eyes and she smiled at him. ''Good morning.'' She said and brushed his hair away from his face.
''Mornin'..'' he replied and gently squeezed her breast he still had in his hand. ''Never get enough of these.'' He mumbled to himself and kissed her nipple.
''Daryl, don't.'' She scolded, knowing very well what he was thinking. However, he merely kissed her nipple again while now using his tongue as well, sliding it over her hardening nub.
She bit her lip to prevent herself from moaning out loud. That stubborn ass man always does what he wants, she thought as she closed her eyes when she felt his tongue trailing along her skin. She knew that if he really wanted to, he could turn her into a puddle of mush in no time if he continued like that. Starving or not.
''I'm hungry.'' She told him and he slowly moved on top of her.
''For what?'' He asked her in a husky voice as his warm body covered hers. God he looked so sexy with his sleepy face, and all the memories from last night came pouring back into her mind again. She shook her head, trying to get rid of her thoughts.
''Food! I'm starving!'' She told him and she suddenly heard his stomach growl. ''And so are you, c'mon get up.'' She said but he was having none of it, nuzzling his nose into the crook of her neck. ''Daryl, we have to eat.'' She breathed and he just grunted as he kissed her bare shoulder. She bit her lip as he was sucking on her skin, surely making a red mark on her body. ''Baby, c'mon,'' she tried again and now pressed her hands against his chest.
''Hm, fine woman.'' He eventually said and he let her slip out from underneath him. He, on the other hand, fell back on his stomach, burying his head into her pillow and breathed in her scent.
Riley stretched her arms above her head before she turned around. ''I know you're hungry too.'' She said and looked back at him before her eyes suddenly widened when she saw all the red scratches near his shoulder blades. ''Oh shit! I'm so sorry!'' She suddenly said as she kneeled down on the bed again.
''Mhwha?'' He replied in confusion while his face was still buried into her pillow.
''I scratched you up. Does it hurt?'' She asked as she ran her fingertips along his upper back, making him tense a little before slowly relaxing again.
Daryl didn't reply, not giving a flying fuck. He had felt her nails digging into his skin last night and to him it was merely proof that she had enjoyed herself. Heck, it even turned him on when she'd done it during their late night activities. ''Don't matter, don't hurt.'' He mumbled and glanced at her sideways, seeing the look of concern on her face as she looked at the angry marks she made.
''You sure?'' She asked him and he slowly turned around so she would stop staring at his back as it was making him feel rather uncomfortable.
''It's fine. Rather have those marks than the ones I have on me now.'' He muttered without thinking as he brushed his hand over his eyes.
''You still haven't told me about them.'' She suddenly said and he snapped his head back to her, knowing she wasn't talking about her scratch marks anymore.
''I don't ever wanna tell ya about 'em.'' He curtly replied and got out of bed. Riley bit her lip as she saw him pulling on a fresh pair of boxers before she quickly got out of bed as well and walked over to him. She knew that if she would just leave it like that, he would be withdrawing from her.
''It's okay.'' She said and wrapped her arms around his torso. The tension left his body the moment he felt the skin to skin contact. ''Let's go have some breakfast downstairs before it's late enough to be lunch.'' She said, changing the subject. She pressed her lips against his back for a brief moment before she moved over to her bag to get her clothes. She knew it was best to just don't mention it anymore until he would reach out to her, even though she doubted that he would ever tell her about his scars. His mind seemed to be made up on that matter.
The moment the two of them stepped into the rather large living room a while later, Riley noticed Beth and Carol standing near the fireplace. ''Oh my God, what is smelling so heavenly?'' She asked as she walked over to the two women to see what they were cooking while Daryl sat on the couch next to Hershel.
''We found some canned tomato soup!'' Beth said with a big smile on her face as Riley noticed the big kettle that was placed above the fire.
''I haven't had that in ages.'' They heard Glenn say as he stepped in living room with a glass of water.
''Morning y'all!'' T-Dog hollered as he followed Glenn into the room.
''Wow man, not so loud, I've just got out of bed.'' Glenn said as he rubbed his hand over his tired eyes while T-Dog grinned.
''Don't you sound wide awake, huh?'' Maggie said to T-Dog as she stepped into the room as well, eyeing the man as he had a big smile on his face.
''Got me some good night of sleep!'' He replied, sitting in one of the armchairs near the couch.
''Hm, unlike others.'' Maggie said and suddenly looked at Riley, making Glenn nearly choke on the water he was drinking.
''Huh? I slept just fine.'' Riley said in confusion as she frowned at her friend.
''Uhuh, I'm sure you did.'' Maggie said with a knowing smile on her face.
''What are you-'' Riley started to ask but was cut off by Rick who entered the living room.
''Guys, we need to check around the area today. Perhaps we can find some useful stuff. We're with a big group, so we have to check for food and all. And we don't even know if there are people hauled up in those houses on the street, might be dangerous.'' He said and looked around the room.
''Guess we can go out with a group and take a look around.'' Daryl commented and stood up from the couch, making Riley frown.
''Uh, you need to eat first.'' She said as she looked at Daryl, the latter shrugging his shoulders.
''Riley's right. Everyone needs to eat first before they can head outside. Can't do all of that on an empty stomach.'' Carol said, backing up Riley on the issue. She knew that the men would just not eat and go right outside if the women wouldn't press on the issue.
Rick scratched the back of his head. ''Yeah uh sure, you're right.''
A moment later Lori entered the living room with Carl right beside her. ''What are we eating?'' Was the boy's first question as he eyed the two women who were standing by the fireplace.
''Tomato soup!'' Beth replied and Carl's eyes widened.
''I haven't had that in forever!''
A few moments later, they were all sitting in the kitchen eating a well cooked meal.
''These folks sure must have been rich to have all this space.'' T-Dog said.
''Yeah, the interior is way off though. Like, simple? Didn't expect that when I entered the house.'' Glenn mentioned.
''Yes, but they do have nice beds. I can't remember the last time that I have been able to sleep on such a soft mattress.'' Carol said as she was passing around a few plates with crackers she had found in one of the kitchen cabinets.
''Tell me about it!'' Maggie replied. ''Don't you agree, Riles?'' She asked her friend who nodded.
As everyone was slowly entering into their own conversations, Riley saw Glenn leaning a little forward over the table. ''Maggie, knock it off.'' He whispered to Maggie as he sat opposite of her. Beth, who was sitting next to him wasn't noticing his remark to her sister as she was talking to Carl, who seemed rather smitten with the teenage girl.
''What are you two going on about?'' Riley asked in a hushed voice as she was sitting in between Maggie and Daryl. She had noticed that Maggie and Glenn had been acting funny all morning and she wanted to know what was going on.
Maggie started to snicker while Glenn blushed. ''Nothing Riles,'' he said and pushed a cracker into his mouth, looking away.
''You were pretty loud last night.'' Maggie suddenly whispered to Riley, who now choked on the soup that she was about to swallow.
''Shit woman, take it easy!'' Daryl said as he rubbed her back a little in concern.
''Thanks.'' Riley said to Daryl as she gently squeezed his knee under the table.
''Ouch Glenn that hurts!'' Maggie said out loud as Glenn had kicked her foot underneath the table and everyone stopped talking, looking at the pair.
''Uh, sorry.'' Glenn said with an innocent smile and Maggie looked back at her plate since they were drawing attention.
''Anyways, as I was saying-'' Lori said and everyone's attention was away from the couple again.
''Oh my God, did you really hear us?'' Riley said to Maggie in a hushed voice as her face was flushed.
''Yeah. Look, it wasn't that loud. We just heard you say his name a few times during the night.'' Maggie smiled, making Riley's face heat up even more.
''Please don't say anything to anyone, especially not to him, okay? He won't go near me if he knows.'' Riley said in a whisper, knowing how Daryl would react to this particular news.
''No worries Riles, your secret is safe with us. And the walls aren't that thin, you're just very loud.'' Maggie mentioned and laughed at the shocked expression on her friend's face.
''Bet you can even scream through sound-proof walls.'' Glenn muttered to himself which made Riley and Maggie look at him in surprise by his comment. ''Oh shit, did I say that out loud?'' He said in shock, making the two women laugh.
After a moment the three started eating again, Riley taking a cracker of the plate full of crackers that was situated on the middle of the table. ''Why are ya so red in yer face, woman?'' Daryl suddenly asked her as he noticed the flush look on her skin. ''You're not getting sick, are ya?''
''No just.. uh, the-the soup's hot, that's all.'' She innocently smiled at him. He frowned for a brief moment before he gave her a nod, letting it go and Riley quickly looked back at her plate, taking a bite of her cracker.
Shit, that was close.
It was decided after breakfast that Rick, T-Dog, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie and Riley would be scouting around the neighborhood. Daryl had to bite back his tongue when Rick called out Riley's name to join the group. He really didn't want her to go with them. He nearly had a fucking heart attack yesterday when she just ran off like that. Just this constant worrying was giving him a headache. Then again, he knew she wouldn't be staying in the house, that woman was dead set on protecting everyone.
Even though it did make him rather proud that she was able to fend for herself and didn't cower in a corner when a walker would appear, he didn't want her to do that. He wanted to protect her from harm, he didn't want her to go out and head straight into danger. If he could lock her in the bedroom, safe and sound from harm, he would. Don't think that might be legal though, he thought.
As if Riley seemed to notice what was on his mind when she saw the look of worry on his face, she placed her hand on his bicep as they were standing in front of the metal fence while Rick was running over the plan. He looked at her and she gave him a small smile.
''I'll be alright. Trust me, okay?'' She mouthed to him making him frown.
How does she even know what I'm thinkin'?
''Okay, we start with the first four houses on this side of the street.'' Rick explained.
''What do we do with the stuff we gather?'' T-Dog asked.
''We just haul everythin' we get from one house over here and then start over.'' Daryl said and Rick nodded.
''Good idea, it might take some work but we don't have to check everything all at once.''
''Gotta have a few people behind the fence though, can't be pilin' all that shit up in front of the house. Might attract some unwanted attention.'' Daryl explained and Rick nodded again. Riley smiled as she looked at Daryl while he was discussing tactics with Rick. He was really stepping up into the role of second in command even though he might not even have been realizing it himself. She could tell by the way Rick was listening to what he was saying that his opinion did matter a lot.
''Whatever we do, just try and do it silently. We can't be attracting any walkers that roam the street. Daryl already killed six yesterday,'' Rick explained. ''A few here and there we can manage, but herds are impossible.''
As Rick was instructing Carl to keep watch on the first floor of the house to call out for any sort of danger, Carol and Beth would be the ones to be standing behind the metal fence to wait for the others to return with whatever they could find in the houses they would search. Lori and Hershel were going to stay inside because Lori was already having a bad case of morning sickness and Hershel took it upon himself to watch over the pregnant woman.
''Last resort is your gun okay? First your crossbow from a distance, if that don't work ya use your knife, then your gu-'' Daryl started to say when they were gathering their weapons, but Riley cut him off.
''Yes, first crossbow, then knife and last resort gun. I do listen to what you say Daryl, last time won't happen again.'' She reassured him and he reluctantly nodded.
''And ya stay behi-''
''Behind your sexy bitable ass at all times, got that as well.'' She said with a cheeky smile on her face, causing him to blush.
''Woman, if ya keep on doin' that you'll pay for it later in the bedroom.'' He told her and she smirked.
''Uw can't wait.'' She said while she lightly tapped her index finger against his lips before turning around to face Rick as he was giving them the final instructions. As her back was turned towards Daryl, she didn't notice the flustered look on his face. That woman was seriously going to be the death of him, he knew it. She already had his body working in overdrive and they just got out of bed.
''Everyone ready?'' Rick asked as they stood in front of the metal gate and everyone nodded. ''Beth and Carol, close this gate and stay on watch okay?'' He said to the two women who nodded at him. ''Carl, you too, look out for everything that moves.'' He told his son as he looked at the window on the first floor.
''Yup, got it dad.'' Carl replied, eager to actually do something that would contribute to protecting their group.
''Okay coast is clear, c'mon people, haul yer asses.'' Daryl said as he had checked the street for any movement. They opened the gate, locking it behind them again. Rick gave Carol the keys before he stepped away from the gate.
Riley looked around, seeing that the street was dead silent. There were some walkers lying on the sidewalk, impaled with bolts, which of course was Daryl's work. As they walked around the bodies, Daryl quickly retrieved all of his bolts from the walkers, knowing that he should keep as many on him as possible.
''We gotta burn these later Rick, they can't be pilin' up here,'' Daryl mentioned to Rick who nodded. Having walkers laying on the ground might attract attention to people that would happen to pass by, and they surely wanted to avoid that.
As they moved over to the house next to the one they were staying in, Riley noticed that the door was wide open. ''Alright, Daryl and I will check it first. You guys stay here, keep watch.'' Rick instructed and he walked into the house with Daryl on his tail.
As they were standing there, looking around for any movement T-Dog's voice suddenly cut through the silence. ''Shit, incoming.'' He said as he pointed to the side, seeing a lone walker stumbling towards them.
''Okay, I'll try to hit it.'' Riley said and pulled her crossbow from her back, knowing she really could use the practice and this was just one walker while they were with four people. If anything went wrong, she would have backup.
She raised her weapon in front of her, aiming it at the walker. She took a deep breath and fired off her bolt, hitting the walker in its shoulder. It stumbled a little from the impact but it kept on walking as if it hadn't been wounded. ''Urgh fuck!'' Riley cursed, quickly reloading her weapon in frustration. Moving objects were still a bit of a problem.
''Just try again.'' Maggie encouraged, seeing that her friend got frustrated over the matter.
Riley raised her crossbow again after she reloaded it and aimed it at the walker again, that was slowly getting closer, growling at them. She got its head in sight and fired again. This time she hit in straight in the head and it dropped to the ground.
''Oh wow Riles, look at you, Daryl 2.0!'' T-Dog said and Maggie and Glenn chuckled while Riley had a proud smile on her face.
''What'chu guys laughin' for?'' Daryl suddenly asked as he came back to the front door after checking the living room, seeing the rest of his group laughing in front of the house
''Better keep an eye on Riley man, she'll beat you sooner or later with that crossbow.'' T-Dog grinned and Daryl frowned as he looked at Riley in confusion and she smiled at him, pointing at the walker she just shot right in its head. The hunter suddenly gave her a small smirk, being rather proud that Riley was in fact learning to properly handle his favorite weapon.
A few moments later, Rick appeared next to Daryl by the door. ''Okay guys, it's clear in the living room and the kitchen, but there are still some other rooms left. Daryl, Riley and T-Dog, you check the first floor while Maggie, Glenn and I will check the basement and the garage,'' Rick instructed, ''bring anything you think is useful back with you.'' They all nodded at his orders and Daryl went up the stairs with Riley in the middle and T-Dog at the end.
When they reached the top of the stairs, they noticed that there were three rooms for them to check. Unfortunately for them, every door was shut, so they realized they had to open up each door, not knowing what was in those rooms. ''We best check them together or else one of us might get attacked by more than one if there are multiple walkers in the room. Don't wanna repeat the same shit we had in that place we're stayin in.'' Daryl said in a hushed voice to Riley and T-Dog who nodded. Daryl knew that T-Dog would be able to handle himself with two or three walkers, but he didn't want Riley to face that amount of walkers by herself.
After checking each room for walkers, they thankfully found nothing. ''Alright, I'll search the first room.'' T-Dog mentioned to Riley and Daryl and he walked into the first bedroom. Riley and Daryl went into the second room that had an adjourning bathroom.
''Ya go check that big closet over there, while I check the bathroom.'' Daryl told her and she nodded, walking over to the closet opposite the twin bed. She opened the closet, eyeing all the clothes and smiled. This was definitely a house where a woman had lived.
Daryl looked through the cabinets in the bathroom, luckily finding some bottles of shampoo and a few toothbrushes that were still packed. He dumped everything he found in a laundry basket he had spotted sitting underneath the sink. ''Uw, fancy dress.'' He suddenly heard Riley say to herself as she was rummaging through the closet in the bedroom.
''What do you think of this?'' She asked him and he turned around to see her holding a red mini dress in front of herself and Daryl frowned as he took in the sight.
''Nah, too slutty.'' He told her after a moment and turned around again to rummage through the small cabinet in the corner. Those sorts of dresses were what those women would be wearing in the bar he always visited with his brother. He would never want to see Riley in that sort of shit.
Riley rolled her eyes at his comment and she walked back into the bedroom, throwing the dress on the bed. It wasn't her taste either, but she wondered what he might think of it. She rummaged through the bottom of the closet and suddenly found a black satin nightdress that looked rather expensive.
''Wow, never worn one of these before. Wonder if it's my size.'' She said to herself and checked the label. She grinned, that was definitely her size.
''Wow, you've found a lot.'' Beth said after an hour as she opened the metal gate so Riley, Daryl and T-Dog could set down all the stuff they found in the house next door.
''Yes, a lot of blankets, towels and clothes and such.'' Riley mentioned.
''Hey we found some canned food in the kitchen.'' Glenn appeared with Maggie alongside him, each carrying a box.
''We're doing pretty good.'' Rick said as he was holding a toolbox in one hand while two flashlights in the other and an axe underneath his arm. He then looked at Beth and Carol. ''You two get everything in the house. Just put in the hallway and we'll check everything later.''
The two women nodded in reply before Rick turned to the others. ''Next house?'' He asked and they all agreed. Beth let them out of the metal gate again before locking it again.
''Okay, keep watch alright.'' Rick said to Carl who nodded, quickly looking at the empty street again.
The group went over to the second house, doing the exact same thing they did earlier.
''Daryl, don't you think this would look sexy on you? I found it in the other bedroom.'' Riley said as she entered the bedroom where Daryl was raiding the closet. He looked at her and saw she was holding up a brown leather jacket.
''Hell nah woman, I ain't wearin' that.'' He grumbled and tossed some towels in a box.
''Why not?'' She said in confusion as she looked at the jacket in her hands, it looked just fine to her.
''It's brown. I don't do brown jackets.'' He told her and she rolled her eyes.
''Oh I'm sorry princess Dixon, I didn't know you preferred a certain color.'' She sarcastically said to him and he looked back at her.
''What did ya just call me?''
''I called you princess.'' She said and bit her lip as she saw him drop the blanket he was holding in his hands.
''Care to repeat that?'' He said and she actually took a step back as he was slowly walking towards her.
''Princess.. Dixon?'' She grinned and he suddenly advanced her, caging her between the wall and his body.
''Ya didn't just call me that.'' He said as his face was just inches away from her own while he looked at her with narrowed eyes.
''I totally did.'' She replied with a grin on her face before he quickly pulled her hands against the wall behind her and pressed his body against hers. She bit her lip in mischief and he suddenly leaned down to kiss her neck. ''Hm, I should call you that more if it earns me this.'' She breathed as he was now kissed her jaw.
''Best get that shit outta yer head woman,'' he growled into her ear and she moaned as he brushed his thumbs over the palms of her hands, nibbling on her earlobe.
They suddenly heard someone cough and Daryl's head immediately shot up, looking at the direction of the door, seeing T-Dog standing there with some blankets in his hands looking rather shocked. Daryl's face turned bright red and he instantly stepped away from Riley.
''I'm uh.. done, uh.. in that last room.'' T-Dog awkwardly mumbled and quickly walked away.
''Fuck.'' Daryl said and he looked back at Riley who suddenly burst out in laughter. ''That shit ain't funny woman.'' He told her and he walked back to the closet he was raiding while she kept on laughing.
''Yes it was, did you see the look on his face? I've never seen him that shocked before.'' Riley said and Daryl rolled his eyes as he flung a few washcloths in the box sitting beside him on the floor.
''Aw, c'mon it was funny to see. Big bad-ass Daryl kissing a girl, that had to be very shocking.'' She said as she walked over to him, knowing how he probably felt uncomfortable about it. It didn't matter to her though, everyone already knew they were together. Heck, they were already sleeping in the same bedroom, which clearly screamed we are together.
Daryl didn't reply to her comment and she suddenly wrapped her arms around his waist from behind. ''Woman, I'm tryna work here.'' He grumbled, still feeling rather awkward that T-Dog just saw him doing that with Riley.
''Yeah, me too. I'm working you.'' She joked as she patted him against his stomach, trying to lighten his mood. He turned around in her arms and she looked up at him with a cheeky smile on her face, making him shake his head.
''Ya really tryna kill me, huh?'' He said and she eagerly nodded. He leaned down and kissed her quickly on her lips before pulling back. ''Now get to work,'' he told her and she smiled at him in mischief. ''Not me woman, check the fuckin' bathroom.'' He told her before turning around, digging through the closet.
She chuckled and lightly slapped him on his ass, startling him. ''Sexy ass,'' he heard her say before she walked out of the room.
''Teasin' little thing,'' he grumbled under his breath, flinging a towel over his shoulder. He was going to remember this for later in their bedroom, that was for sure.
After cleaning out the second house and dumping everything on the front lawn of their own place again, they moved over to the third house. However, they quickly spotted seven walkers that suddenly appeared around the corner of the house.
''Where the hell did they come from?'' T-Dog said and Rick frowned. It was just dead silent a few hours ago, and now it seemed that the walkers were appearing out of nowhere.
''Must've come from that big park near this street,'' Daryl told them and quickly shot off three bolts, hitting the walkers straight in the head.
Riley, who was standing beside him, decided to take the plunge with her crossbow and to everyone's surprise, including her own, managed to take down two walkers in two straight shots. Glenn and T-Dog quickly stabbed the other two walkers in their heads.
''Okay, let's head insi-'' Rick started to say but was cut off by Daryl.
''Shit, incomin!'' He said and they turned around, seeing at least five more walkers appear.
''What the hell? It seems they are drawing the others.'' T-Dog said and ran over to the walkers, with everyone right on his tail.
''Ah shit!'' Riley said as she got blood all over her shirt when she had stabbed a walker in its the head with her machete since she was out of bolts.
''Very G-I Jane, Riles.'' Glenn said to her and she stuck out her tongue at him which made him laugh.
''Ah look behind you!'' She called out as she saw a female walker nearing Glenn but before he turned around, Maggie had already stabbed the walker in the head with her knife.
''Nobody gets my man!'' Maggie called out and Riley chuckled while Glenn blushed bright red at Maggie's comment. Even T-Dog was grinning at him.
''Okay everyone, get into the house, the noise is attracting others.'' Rick said as he had taken down the final walker with his knife. They quickly ran into the house and Daryl was the last one to get inside after firing off his last three bolts. He locked the door behind him while Rick looked out of the window.
'Okay, we have to make this one quick. I see five more coming from across the street.'' Rick mentioned to the others as they were all standing in the hallway.
The kitchen and living room were rather large so Riley and Daryl went upstairs on their own. They checked the first bedroom in their usual routine, luckily finding no walkers.
''You search through this one while I'll check the other one so we can leave faster. Don't want those walkers to be pilin' up in front of this house.'' Daryl told her and she nodded in reply before quickly walking towards the closet in the bedroom.
As Daryl made his way over to the second bedroom, he suddenly heard a soft thumping noise behind the door he was nearing as if something had been dropped on the floor. He stopped walking, narrowing his eyes before taking out his gun that he had tugged in the back of his jeans since he was currently out of bolts. He raised his gun before slowly opening the door and froze at what he saw.
