SHIZUKA" Naruto shouted rushing out onto the arena digging into the sand finding Shizuka unconscious but otherwise unharmed
"Do not worry Konoha shinobi I had no intention of killing the Senju Kunoichi I only intended to rend her unconscious" he said as the giant sand statue broke apart the sand that made it flying into Gaara's sleeves
"The winner of the match Gaara" Chiriku called "as soon as the arena is repaired we will move on to the next match Rai Gurekumo VS. Shingetsu"

Rai frowned stepping into the ring across from the Taki ninja there was something about him that made him feel uneasy reaching for the kunai holster on his left leg he clipped it open reaching for the handle of a knife while waiting for the proctors signal
"Begin" Chiriku called as Rai pulled out a knife and threw it the knife flew past Shingetsu landing in the arena floor
"Your aim is terrible" Shingetsu stated dryly "if that's all you can do just forfeit now before you get hurt"
Rai said nothing grabbing more kunai and tossing them but every knife didn't even come close to hitting Shingetsu
Rai stared at Shingetsu as he tossed more kunai 'I'll show him what I'm really capable of' Rai thought
Flashback
Rai sat in between Sasuke and Sakura while his sensei looked at them he had been surprised by getting assigned to a team with the two top ranking members of the class but he wasn't going to complain he didn't really know either of them
Sasuke was kind of stand offish and stayed by himself by part of Rai understood that he remembered the Uchiha massacre and how shocked everyone was how people who knew the Uchihas mourned for their friends sudden demise
Well they were Sasukes family and apparently he was there when the massacre happened and his psycho brother just let him live
Crap no wonder Sasuke didn't talk to people he was probably afraid of someone else he cared about dying if it happened once it could happen again
Then there was Sakura Rai had more in common with her since she didn't come from a ninja clan like Sasuke or Ino but that was it he never talked to her and she was only interested in trying to talk to Sasuke or studying
Rai kind of sat back as the rest of his team talked more about themselves and then it was his turn "My name is Rai Gurekumo I like my family and working with machines
I don't like nuts all that much and I can't stand people who look down on you if you don't come from a clan my dream as a ninja is to stand out and show you don't need to come from a clan"
Kakashi Sensei nodded curiously "ok and how do you plan to do that"

"If this is all you can do I'm not impressed forfeit now or I'll crush you" Shingetsu said coldly "fine then" Shengetsu tried to step forward but something shocked him making him recoil back
"What" Shingetsu asked looking down he saw there were kunai scattered all around him with something running between them what was it Shingetsus eyes widened "ninja wire"
Rai grinned "not just any ninja wire a highly conductive variant" Rai said holding out his hand showing there was a strand of wire that led through all of the kunai sparks flared around his hand
"Lightning style electric fence jutsu" Rai called electricity flowed from his hand into the wire and through the kunai creating a glowing web around the arena trapping Shingetsu
In the stands Kakashi nodded "that Taki boy underestimated Rai from the start and that's what he used to his advantage combined with the knowledge he learned before he became a shinobi"
Next to him Furuji nodded "if I remember right there's a Raiyu Gurekumo who works at the Konoha power plant which gave Rai the foundation for his Electric fence jutsu"
Kakashi nodded "all he needed was training with throwing kunai and how to make lightning nature chakra good thing it was his affinity or it would have been a lot harder to teach him "
Rai grinned "surrender now if this weren't a friendly tournament your life would be in my hands and I could increase the voltage through the wire and completely shock you so forfeit"
Shingetsu looked impressed "this is an impressive maneuver and I had completely underestimated your skills as a shinobi however" Shingetsu grabbed onto the wire
"I too have a lightning affinity Lightning Style reverse polarity jutsu" the electricity sparked before it all travelled up the wire flowing to Rai
Rai let go of the wire and Shingetsu pounced unsealing a bo staff from a tattoo on the inside of his wrist he struck Rai in the stomach pinning him to the floor Rai gasped reaching out with his hand he touched the bo staff
"Electric fence jutsu" Rai choked out flaring lightning flew the bo staff and into Shingetsu cloth covered shinobi didn't even flinch as he reverse the flow of electricity again causing him to scream in agony
"That's enough" Chiriku called "you have clearly won there is no need to continue down this path" Shingetsu pushed the end of his staff down before he pulled up his staff sealing it in his arm
"My opponent was tenacious" he said stepping away to face Chiriku "what you call excessive force I see as acknowledging the strength of my opponent and meeting it blow for blow" Shingetsu bowed his head
"Rai Gurekumo you were a reminder to keep arrogance out of combat had I not been born with a lightning affinity I would have been defeated remember this night and strive to be better" Shingetsu bowed before leaving the arena joining with his team
Mangetsu scoffed "I never knew you were such a talented actor Shingetsu actually praising that human as if he had a chance against you"
Shingetsu turned his head to look Mangetsu in the eye "I meant every word I said the genin of Konoha are strong and you must remember Mangetsu it is humans who rule the world not us"
Mangetsu scoffed "for now" he muttered looking back to the arena "but not forever"
Shio stayed quiet through this giggling "my turns next I can't wait"
Kakashi used the Shunshin appearing by Rais side as medics came putting him on a stretcher Rai opened his eyes "sensei" he choked out in between slow gasping breaths "how'd I do"

Kakashi eye smiled "you did good Rai go and get some rest"
After the field was clear Chiriku cleared his throat "the next match Temari of Suna VS Shio of Taki may both enter the arena"
And that's that next chapter Temari first born of the Kazekage goes head to head with Shio the princess of the werewolfs
