Chapter 21: Double Date
A few months later...
Ruby and Weiss were on the couch talking to each other about their boyfriends like usual for these past few months. Connor and Robbie were in the training room sparring against each other like usual. "I'm just saying, we can ask them to go on a double date," Ruby said to Weiss.
"Are sure its a good idea, Ruby? My brother isn't exactly good when people come along when he's with his friends," Weiss replied to Ruby.
Ruby sank into the cushion more as she raised her arms. "C'mon, it'll be fun! We're always going solo. We get to be with them and know them a little more," she explained as she flailed her arms.
"But Ruby, do you really think they'll want to do it? What if they don't want to?" Weiss asked as she leaned more into the cushion as well.
"If they don't want to, we'll do something for them," Ruby said happily.
"Do you mean by...?" Weiss started.
"NO! Not like that at all! I mean, make something for them," Ruby replied quickly.
Weiss was relieved when Ruby corrected herself. "Thank you, you had me worried there for a bit," she said. She thought what Ruby said. "Are you sure about this?"
"I'm a hundred percent sure, Weiss!" Ruby said proudly.
Weiss smiled at the young girls antic attempts to be with her boyfriend. "Alright, Ruby, we'll give it a shot."
Connor parried one of Robbie's cutlasses with his tomahawk while he did a roundhouse kick to his side. It landed and made Robbie cringe to that blow. "C'mon, we've been training for awhile now," Robbie said as he held his side.
Connor nodded as he placed his tomahawk pack on his side. He pulled up his hood and took in a deep breath. "Alright, so what now?"
Robbie shrugged as he flicked his cutlasses back into hilts, placing them on his sides as well. "Dunno lad, you?"
Connor sat down for a moment and took out his scroll. He was going in between apps when he went to his music. He then got an idea. He started playing a fast upbeat song and set down his scroll. He took a few steps back and started dancing to the beat. "How about we have some fun then, Rob?" he asked as he did a coin drop.
"You want to breakdance after we trained for awhile?" Robbie said as he looked at Connor.
Connor did a kick up and grinned at him. "Yup," he said as he did a b-twist in the air before landing back on his feet with his back facing Robbie.
Robbie chuckled at him. He has so much energy. He can fight then dance after he thought. He started dancing to the beat and he started doing windmills. "Fine then," he said as he kept doing them.
Soon the two ended up having a mini battle in the training room as time went on. As they were battling, Ruby and Weiss came in. "Hey you guys," Ruby called out, causing the two Assassin's too look at them. Connor quickly turned off the music and put the scroll in his pocket.
"Hey, Ruby," Connor said happily as he pulled his hood up from his face, showing his warm smile.
Robbie quickly straightened himself out and looked at Weiss. "Hi love," he said as he rolled up his sleeves to his elbows.
"Hi, Robbie," Weiss said warmly to her boyfriend as she and Ruby walked towards them. She then looked at Ruby who had a wide smile on her face.
Connor noticed Ruby's wide smile which only meant one thing. She has something on her mind. "What's on your mind, Ruby?" he asked her as he eyed her for a moment.
Ruby forgot that Connor can do that, able to know what a person wants to do. "Oh, uhhh, me and, Weiss were wondering if we can go for a double date?" she said sheepishly.
The two Assassin's looked at each other before looking at them. "A double date?" Robbie asked as he looked at the two girls.
Weiss nodded as she neared Robbie and smiled. "Yeah, do you two want to go?" she asked them.
Connor bit his lip as he looked at Ruby for a bit. "Are you sure, Ruby?" he asked her while he scrunched his face for a bit. He looked at Robbie. 'Should we?' he mouthed to him.
Robbie shrugged as he scrunched his mouth a bit. 'Maybe,' he mouthed back.
Ruby neared him and reached for one of his hands, grasping it softly as she looked into his eyes. "Please? We can make you two something," she said softly to him.
Connor smiled warmly as he gripped gently on her hand. She's so cute. No wonder why I like her. He let out a content sigh and rested his forehead on her's. "Sure, why not?"
Ruby squealed and kissed him on the lips quickly before looking at him again. "Thank you. So, what do you want?"
Connor looked at Robbie and they both grinned. He then looked back at Ruby. "How about you two make us diner one night?" he asked her as he looked at his sister.
Weiss looked at Ruby for a moment with a 'Should we?' look. Ruby nodded as she rested her head on his shoulders. "Sure, why not?"
The four boarded a Dust plane for Vale. The two guys took window seats while the girls just talked to each other on the other side of the plane. Connor looked out the window, a worried look on his face. "Hey, you okay Connor?" Robbie asked him.
Connor kept looking out the as he blew into his hands. "I've gotten reports from the Brotherhood saying that the Rouges have robbed another Dust store while they've taken one of our den's in Atlas," he said soberly.
Robbie nodded as he looked out the window as well. "We've been fighting each other ever since the discovery of Dust. Why can't we have peace?"
Connor sighed as he closed his eyes. "I don't know, Rob, I don't know."
Robbie smiled as he patted him on the back. "C'mon, we have a date with our girlfriends, forget about it for now."
"Alright Rob," Connor replied as he pulled his hood over his eyes to take a nap.
The Dust plane landed in Vale and the two couples walked off. "Ah, Vale, never gets old this place," Connor said as he exhaled happily.
"You're right about that, Connor," Robbie said.
Ruby nudged Ruby's arm. "C'mon Connor, me and Weiss wanna watch a movie!" she whined.
Connor looked at Robbie for help who just shook his head at him. He looked at Ruby again and smiled. "Okay, what do you want to see?"
The two couples walked out of the theatre, the two Assassin's were pale from seeing the movie. Connor ran to a trash can and hurled his insides out while Robbie was holding his stomach and patting Connor's back to ease him. Weiss shook her head. "You two can't even take seeing the movie?"
Robbie smiled weakly as he tried to hold back from throwing up. "We should've told ya two, me and Connor hate romance films," he replied as he clutched his stomach.
Connor stopped retching and slowly lifted his head up. "I...hate...those movies," he heaved out.
Ruby hid behind Weiss as she nervously fiddled with her fingers. "Sorry, I'm really sorry."
"Robbie Nova, are you sure this is a good idea?" Weiss asked as Robbie pulled her by the wrist to a club.
Robbie smiled at Weiss. "Don't worry Weiss, noting bad will happen."
Ruby cringed slightly. "Well, this is the club Yang destroyed awhile ago."
Connor shook his head at the thought of Yang doing so. "Well, she's Yang, reckless but caring," he replied as he looked at the club's entrance.
The four were at the club's bar, Robbie and Connor were having some whisky while the girls were having water, not wanting to get drunk. Robbie chuckled as he gulped down his whisky. "C'mon Connor, just gulp it down like so."
Connor looked at Robbie with a 'Are you sure?' look. "You sure, Rob?"
Robbie sighed as he slammed his glass on the counter. "Just do it!" Connor hesitantly raised the glass to his lips and quickly gulped down the whisky down his throat. The next moment he was coughing the drink out of his stomach while he fell on the ground. "Can't take your drink huh?"
"Oh shut up!" Connor shouted back as he breathed heavily.
Weiss shook her head and walked over to Robbie. "How about we go dance on the dance floor?"
Robbie grinned as he stood up and walked to the dance floor. "Hey, Connor! Break?"
Connor grinned as well. Standing up he walked towards the dance floor and looked at the DJ. "Put on a good beat man!" he shouted. The DJ nodded and switched the music to a more upbeat music. Connor started moving to the beat as he started moving his footsteps to the sound. He dropped down and started doing windmills. The crowd saw him doing this and made room for him. He stopped and stood back up. "Your turn," he said to Robbie.
"Alright then," Robbie said, dancing to the beat as well. He dropped down to the ground and started doing jackhammers. As he did them, he accidentally kicked one of Junior's men in the shins. He stood back up and felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see the goon narrowing his eyes at him. "Oh, sorry about that mate. Didn't mean to hit you."
"Alright kid, give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now," the goon growled at Robbie.
"Calm down man and you don't want to mess with me," Robbie replied in a calm tone.
"Why kid?"
Robbie pointed his head at Weiss. "You see her? That's Weiss Schnee," he said.
"Why's that so important?"
"Because she's my girlfriend, and she won't hesitate to kill you a hundred different ways if you do anything to me," Robbie said, a smirk growing on his face. The goon's face fell and he walked away from Robbie, hands slightly up.
"Sorry about that kid, enjoy your time here," the goon said before walking to the bar.
"And that's that," Robbie said in a low voice.
"Did you really have to do that, Robbie?" Weiss asked him as they walked down the sidewalk to the air shuttle.
"Hey, I was just joking around," Robbie answered back.
Connor shot a look at Robbie. "Says you. We ended up having a battle and you knocked out one of the breakers at the end when he commented on your moves."
"He said my flares weren't that stylish," Robbie said to him.
"Whatever, at least we didn't destroy the club," Ruby said. Connor smiled and kissed her on the cheek, making her blush a bit.
They got to the air shuttle and they were about to get on until they heard gunfire in the distance. "You hear that?" Connor asked Robbie.
Robbie nodded at him. "I hear it. What should we do with the girls?"
Connor shrugged. "I don't know, any ideas?" His question was just answered when he saw Robbie strike their pressure points causing them to collapse. "What the hell are you doing?!"
"Relax, Connor, they're just knocked out," Robbie said calmly as he dragged their bodies inside the Dust plane.
Connor scrunched his face and slapped it. "You just gave us a one-way ticket to hell with our girlfriends."
The two Assassin's ran across the rooftops in the direction of the gunfire they heard earlier. They reached the disturbance and saw what was going on. "More henchmen from, Roman. Great, just what we need," Connor said as he saw them breaking into another Dust store. "How many total?"
"I'd say...about...seven outside while three more in the shop," Robbie replied.
"Got it. Let's do this quick and clean," Connor said. He took out his tomahawk and they both pulled their hoods down. "Ready?"
Robbie nodded and took out one of his cutlasses. "Ready." They jumped down and air assassinated two guards causing the rest to see them.
"Hey guys! We 'ave two 'ero's tryin' to save the day. Let's teach 'em a lesson!" yelled one of the thugs. The rest came out with their swords in hand.
"I bet we can take them down in thirty seconds," Connor betted.
"Eighty Lien says we don't, Connor," Robbie replied.
"Let's get 'em," Connor said, a smirk forming on his face.
The two Assassin's ran towards the thugs and started hacking them up. Connor parried one of the thugs and disarmed him. He then used the sword to cut the throat of the thug while Robbie just made them drop like flies. One of them tried to attack Robbie from behind but got the short end when Robbie took out his other cutlass and stabbed him as he got closer.
They dispatched the rest and saw one trying to get away. "I'm not paid enough to do this!" he shouted. His hopes of getting away vanished when he felt a sharp pain go through his left shin. He collapsed on the ground and clutched his leg. He felt a sharp object in his leg and took a look. What he saw was a small knife sticking out of his leg. He then saw the two approaching him and he started crawling away. "N-no, please, spare me! I have a family," he pleaded.
Connor walked over and picked him up and threw him at a wall and used his right arm to pin his neck on the wall. "A little late for robbing Dust stores?" he asked. He pressed harder on his neck making the thug gasp for air. "Tell me where, Roman is!"
Robbie walked over and took out one of his pistols, aiming it at his head. "Tell us and we'll let you go."
The thug closed his eyes and turned away. "I swear, I don't know anything. I only take orders from his boss."
"Cinder Fall?" Connor asked.
The thug shook his head. "No, not that crazy bitch. We take orders from the head honcho, the one who contrls both, Roman and Cinder."
The two Assassin's looked at each other when they heard him say it. Robbie cocked his pistol and pressed it on his head. "Tell us the name." The thug stayed silent. "Tell us!"
"I-I don't know his name. He only tells us orders and we do them, I swear!" the thug cried out.
"Fine then," said Connor. He punched the thug in the face making him pass out. He placed a beacon on him and activated it. "An Assassin will come and get him. The Brotherhood will be able to get more info out of him," he said.
Robbie holstered his pistol and contacted the Brotherhood. "This is, Robbie Nova. I"m with, Connor KIzuato and we have something for you guys to pick up."
"'Rog that. We'll send someone to get it," replied an Assassin.
Robbie nodded and cut the connection. He looked at Connor who was still confused at what the thug said. "We should get back to Beacon," said Robbie.
"Bad idea, Robbie. You knocked out, Ruby and Weiss and now we're gonna get it thanks to you," Connor retorted back.
"Ah shit, I forgot. What now?"
"I don;t know, how about we go back and sleep on the rooftop?"
"Good plan."
As the two walked away from the scene of the fight and one thought swam through their minds. Who's Roman's boss?
