Chapter 21
Two weeks later
Elizabeth stepped off the elevator at General Hospital, with Max and Milo, in search of her boss.
"Elizabeth, look at you. Those two weeks have worked wonders. I don't know what the trip was about but whatever it was for, it did you some good," Epiphany Johnson said to one of her favorite nurses.
"Thank you Piph. It was a very enlightening trip," Liz told her, glancing back at her brothers and winked at them.
"So, when would you like to come back to work?" Piph asked, grabbing a folder.
"That is what I wanted to talk to you about," Liz said, pulling out a white envelope out of her purse and handing it to Epiphany. "I am not coming back to work. I am going to go back to my art and raise my family." Liz patting her growing stomach, which surprised Piph. "Also, I am going to spend some time getting to know two of my new brothers." Liz pointing to Max and Milo. Piph raised an eyebrow and then gave Liz a big hug.
"Congratulations Elizabeth. On everything," Piph said and walked back to the nurse's station. As Liz, Max and Milo made their way to the elevators, Carly Corinthos walked out.
"Great, here we go," Liz whispered to Milo as she geared up for a confrontation.
"Look who finally made it back to work. Where have you been the past two weeks? Another suspension?" Carly asked, smirking.
"Not that it's any of your business, but if you must know Carly, I was spending the holidays with my family," Liz told her.
"Your family?" Carly laughed. "Why would they care now, when they never gave a damn about your before? Anyway, did you come here to find out you don't have a job anymore?" Carly asked, faking sincerity.
"No, I still had a job, but I just resigned," Liz said.
"Why? Did you find some poor fool, like Lucky was or AJ is, to take care of you and your brat?" Carly said. "Max, Milo come on. Sonny needs you," she told them and walked away. She stopped, realizing they were not following her.
Max cleared his throat and said, "Sorry Mrs. Corinthos. We do not work for your husband anymore."
"Really? Do you work for her now?" Carly said, pointing to Liz. Carly grabbed her arm and wouldn't let go. "Tell me Elizabeth, which one are you sleeping with, Max or Milo? Or are you sleeping with both of…" before Carly could finish her statement, Liz, using her free hand, slapped her. Max and Milo gently pushed Liz behind them.
"You will pay for that, you little bitch," Carly said, taking out her cell phone to call Sonny.
Max was about to say something when out of the corner of his eye, he saw Liz starting to wobble and was just able to catch her as she fainted.
