Chapter 20
Training Days #9, Hypno's Naptime, Training Days #10
After successfully defeating Erika at the Celadon Gym and winning the Rainbow Badge, our heroes are now currently taking a break on a large rock that is being use as a seat by Brock, Misty and Leaf. The Ketchum brothers are now training their Pokemon in order to get them strong enough so that they can be ready if an important battle happens soon. The boys had switched up their teams in order to make things interesting and to allow some of the Pokemon they haven't used in a while a chance to bond with them and train together.
Ash's current team includes Pikachu, Pidgeot, Ivysaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Eevee. While Red's team includes Charmeleon, Beedrill, Wartortle, Poliwhirl, Bulbasuar, and Sandslash.
"Use Thunderbolt."
"(Here I go!)" called out Pikachu. He started to charge up powerful electric energy from his body and fired it in a straight line towards Pidgeot, who did nothing to avoid the attack. She let it hit her and was now doing her best to not faint from the super effective and painful move she was hit by.
"I think that's enough for now, Pikachu." Ash said as Pikachu cancelled out the Thunderbolt to allow Pidgeot to recover a bit. He walked over to Pidgeot with a Potion his hand and began spraying it on her to help restore some of her health from before.
"(Thank you, Ash. That really helped a lot.)" smiled Pidgeot as she was glad her Trainer was nearby to help with her training.
"No problem. You've always helped me in battles, now it time I help you with your battles. Are you ready to go again?" he asked.
"(Of course I am.)"
Ash walked back to Pikachu's side and made an order, "Use Thunderbolt again."
Pikachu once again charged electricity in his body and fired it off at Pidgeot. She didn't dodged just like before and was hit by the attack. Electricity was flowing throughout her body and was causing her great pain like before, she kept her beak shut in order to not scream in pain, but it was easier said than done as it was very painful for her.
"That's enough, Pikachu." The electric Pokemon stopped using Thunderbolt and watched Ash walk over to Pidgeot an use the Potion on her again. She started to feel much better after the Potion had healed her up a bit.
Pikachu was more than happy to help out Pidgeot in her training to defeating electric types. But he was still wondering off it's possibly for her to beat three electric types in a row. He knew that she was definitely a powerful fighter, but he was a bit concern if she was aiming too high of a goal. He decided to not think about it for now, as he was helping her in reaching that goal. He'll let the results of their train be the judge of his question when the time comes.
Ash was now returning to him and was ready for more training, "This time we're going to have you and Pidgeot race each other while both of you use Quick Attack." he explained.
"(That sounds good to me. I've been wanting to know which one of us is the faster one for a while now.)" replied Pikachu.
Ash grabbed his backpack and placed it down on the ground next to the two Pokemon, he then got up and picked up a stick to use as an end goal for the race. He them started to walk away until he was about 15 meters away from them and placed the stick into the ground. He then got down on his stomach and was laying on the ground front first, "I'll be the judge and told you both who got here faster, ready?!" he asked.
"(Ready!)" answered both Pokemon.
"Pikachu, Pidgeot, Quick Attack."
The two Pokemon started to surround their bodies with white aura to help them increase their speed before taking off towards their destination by ether flying or running. Pidgeot was on the lead as Pikachu was given a clear view of her tail feathers, but he was moving pretty quickly and soon started to catch up to her as he was next to her. But she was still ahead of him by a head. Pikachu looked as the finish line was becoming closer and closer, he used his limbs to move faster as he then catch up to Pidgeot and the two were now neck in neck with each other. They both made it pass the stick in the ground as he started to slow down a bit in order to stop.
"(Why won?!)" they both asked.
Ash got up from the grass and looked at his two little racers, "It was a pretty close call. But I think I saw Pidgeot win with her beak crossing first." he answered.
"(WOOHOO! I did it!)" cheered the bird Pokemon in joy as she spread out her wings in excitement. She was far too tired to use them to fly herself off the ground.
"(Aww man. I was so close.)" pouted Pikachu as he crossed his arms and sat down.
Ash got down on his knees and patted Pikachu's head gently, "Don't worry, Pikachu. You were really close, which means that your almost as fast as her. It was just a little race, it's not something to be too mad about. And who said that was the only one anyway." he smiled.
"(There's more?!)" asked Pikachu.
Ash got up and ran over back to the starting line back to his backpack, "You two ready for race two?" he called out.
"(Ready!)" replied both Pokemon.
"Use Quick Attack."
(With Red)
"Use Water Gun"
Both Wartortle and Poliwhirl fired a powerful stream of water from their mouths and aimed them at a tree that Red found in order to help them with target practice. Both of the water stream's hit the tree and gave it a little drink as the water started to go down the trunk and into the ground beneath.
"(Man, that was an impressive Water Gun, my fellow water type.)" said Wartortle to Poliwhirl as he patted him on the back while he praised him.
"(Thanks, I've been working on it back before Red caught me, but I think it could still use some work.)" replied Poliwhirl as he scratched the back of his head.
"Well that's why we're training here, to help you both get better. Now do it again!" said Red as he pointed at the tree as his two water Pokemon fired another Water Gun at it. The tree got even more wet as the two water types blasted it with more water, but on the bright side it was getting a nice big drink as the liquid flowed down the trunk and into the ground.
"Let's keep this up, that way your Water Gun attack will be stronger than ever!" said Red as he smiled at the thought of this Pokemon blasting his opponent's Pokemon with a powerful stream of water.
(5 Minutes Later)
After the two water Pokemon had finished giving the tree a bath, Red decided that it was time for a different training method. Wartortle was now hidden inside of his shell while Poliwhirl was using Double Slap against him. Once He finished Wartortle popped back out of his shell and waited for Red's next order of business.
"Wartortle, use Water Gun. Poliwhirl, you dodge it as best as you can." he said.
Poliwhril was now running away from the blast of water that Wartortle was firing against him. He was dodging them pretty well as he had now avoided getting hit by eleven Water Guns launched right at him. But he was then hit in the chest by the twelfth attack as it landed right in his chest and it sent him flying backwards until he hit the ground.
"Hang on, Poliwhirl." called out Red as he ran over to his second water type Pokemon with a Potion in his hand. He then started to spray it on Poliwhirl to help with the injuries and to get him back to hundred percent.
"(Thanks for the help, Red. But it was unnecessary since I was hit by a water type attack.)" Poliwhirl reminded his Trainer.
"I just want to make sure that your at your best for our training. That way we'll be able to understand what areas we need to improve upon." said the Trainer as he help Poliwhirl back onto his feet.
"(Then I say we get back to it then.)" smiled the blue Pokemon. As he and Red walked back toward Wartortle to continue their training.
(With Ash)
Ash was just finishing spraying Pidgeot with a Potion to heal her from the Thunder attack she had just received from Pikachu. After the two Pokemon had raced against each other about ten times, the score ended up being Pidgeot 7, and Pikachu 3. Pikachu was kinda upset that he didn't get to even the score more, but he declared that he was going to train harder so that he'll be able to keep up with her in the future. Once that was over they all went back to the training method from earlier and were just about done.
"OK, I think you've trained enough for today, Pidgeot. Return for now." said Ash as he pulled out Pidgeot's Pokeball. The bird Pokemon smiled and them became red energy that went inside the Pokeball to rest.
"(Hey, Ash, can I ask you something?)" asked Pikachu to his best friend.
"Sure thing, buddy, what's on your mind?" asked the raven haired boy.
"(Do you really think that all the training we helped her with today is really going to help her beat three electric types in a row?)" asked Pikachu. He was still having a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that Pidgeot wanted to be that strong.
"Of course it's going to help her. And this won't be the last time we train like this with her, we're going to train her and everyone as hard as we can so that everyone of us is super crazy strong in time for the Indigo League!" replied Ash for a smiled.
"(Then I think we should get back to work on it right now!)" smiled Pikachu.
"With a new training partner for you, Eevee!" said Ash as he tossed Eevee's Pokeball to let the normal type out. She appeared and jumped into Ash's arms for a hug. Ash smiled and laughed at her excitement to see him.
Eevee hasn't had a lot of time to train with Ash and the others recently, but when he did train her for the first time she learned very quickly and was able to learn Tackle, Tail Whip and Sand attack. She had been practicing back at the Lab in order to be stronger for when Ash needed her on his team for a battle. And now it's time to see if all if the solo training has paid off.
"Ready to show us what you got?" asked Ash.
"(You bet I'm ready, just tell me what to do and I'll show you!)" smiled Eevee.
"Use Sand Attack."
Eevee jumped out of his arms and started to use her back legs to kick up sand. It was impressive at how much sand she was able to kick up, despite not training with Ash very often. Ash and Pikachu were impressed with how much sand Eevee kicked up, cause it was definitely a lot more than when she first learned Sand Attack.
"That was awesome, Eevee. You've really been working hard while you were at the Lab, right?" asked the Trainer.
"(Sure have. I wanted to be stronger for when you would need me again.)" replied the normal type Pokemon.
"Well it's great to see that you've worked hard. Now we can all work hard together and get stronger!" said Ash. Both Pikachu and Eevee jumped up and down at the idea and started to cheered in excitement. Ash couldn't wait to see the results afterwards!
(5 Minutes Later)
"Use Tackle." called out Ash.
Eevee started to run towards Pikachu as fast as she could and then smashed her head against his chest, which sent him sliding backwards on his feet. He held his chest a bit in pain for how hard that attack was, but he didn't feel all that bad, since he had taken worse hits before. He just smiled at how much stronger Eevee's Tackle has gotten since last time.
For the last five minutes Eevee has been using Pikachu to preform all of the moves that she knows again and again to make them stronger. Pikachu was happy to help out his friend and teammate. Besides, it didn't hurt him too much as he was at a way higher level than Eevee was. This was also good practice for when he and the team run into Gary and Blue again, cause then he can have a rematch against Gary's Eevee. He still felt bad about losing to Gary and the insult's he threw at Ash when he first met him. He wanted to be ready for when he would have to face that Eevee again, and with Ash's Eevee helping him he knows that he's making some good progress.
"(Your Tackle has really gotten stronger than before. You've really been practicing hard.)" said Pikachu as he used his tiny fingers to give Eevee a thumbs up.
"(Thanks, Pikachu. Your really strong too!)" replied Eevee with a smile on her face.
"OK you two listen up, Pikachu, use Thunderbolt. Eevee, you dodge it." Ash called out.
Pikachu surrounded his body in electricity and shot the yellow energy at Eevee. The normal type Pokemon avoided the attack by jumping backwards as it landed in front of her. Next, she jumped towards the right to avoid another Thunderbolt. Now she was dodging as much Thunderbolts as she could to avoid getting hit. Eevee was doing pretty well at dodging them, which impressed both Ash and Pikachu.
"OK, Eevee, use Tackle." said Ash.
Eevee started to run up towards Pikachu as fast as she could and ended up headbutting him in the chest which made him slide back a bit from the attack. She really was growing stronger with every pasting day!
"Now use Sand Attack."
Eevee turned around and started kicking sand at Pikachu with her back legs. Pikachu covered his face with his arms to avoid getting sand in his eyes as it started to lower his accuracy.
"Pikachu, use a Thunder Attack." called out Ash.
Pikachu charged up electricity from around his body and fired it towards the sky where it started to take form of an electric cloud that started to shoot down lightning strikes from above at Eevee. The little normal type Pokemon dodged as many as she could and avoided all of them thanks to the Sand Attack lowering her opponent's accuracy.
"Eevee, use Tackle."
Eevee started to run up to Pikachu once again in order to hit him with a Tackle, but as soon as she was about to hit him she ended up hitting wall of purple energy instead of Pikachu!?
The wall protected Pikachu from Eevee's attack as the impact sent he backwards until she hit the ground. Ash ran up to Eevee to see if she was alright and not too badly hurt from the sudden impact. It turned out that all Eevee received was a sour head.
"Pikachu, what is this?" asked Ash as he touched the purple energy wall the keep Pikachu safe from attacks.
"(I don't know, Ash. How about you check with your Pokedex and see if it knows what it is?)" suggested the little yellow Pokemon.
"Good idea, buddy." Ash took out his Pokedex and started to use it the scan the purple wall in front of Pikachu.
Light Screen
A wall of light cuts damage from Special Attacks for five turns.
"Pikachu, you learned Light Screen. That's amazing!" cheered Ash as he lifted his hands up into the air. Now that Pikachu had a defense move it just opened up a whole new bunch of possible strategies to use in battle.
"(This is great, now I won't get hit as much as I did before!)" smiled the mouse Pokemon as he could now defend himself if he's unable to avoid an incoming attack. That means that he could battle for longer than usual and not have to worry about long ranged attacks all that much anymore.
"(Great job, Pikachu. I know you'll do great now that you have that new move.)" said Eevee as she congratulated Pikachu.
Ash couldn't wait to tell the others about this, because then he could used Light Screen against them in a battle and see just how he can make it helps out Pikachu in battle. He then started to wonder how Red's training was going?!
(With Red)
"Use Slash you two."
Both Sandslash and Charmeleon collided their claws together and pushed against each other to try and overpower the other. Red was having Sandslash help Charmeleon out with learning how to use Slash more effectively as the two Pokemon were using the move against each other in order to do so. It's been going pretty well and Sandslash has admitted that Charmeleon is learning much quick than he did than when he learned Slash, which proves that the training is starting to pay off.
"(I'll admit this much, Charmeleon, you've gotten better at using Slash than me when I first learned it, but I'm still the stronger one.)" said Sandslash as he pushed his long claws against Charmeleon's.
"(Don't think that just because I'm new at using this move means that you'll be better than me forever. I'm going to train harder than you and make my Slash more powerful than yours!)" declared the fire lizard Pokemon.
"Come on you two, show me who's the most powerful at using Slash." called out Red as he continued to watch his Pokemon in their power struggle.
"(IT"S MEEEEEEEEE!)" shouted Sandslash as he used up all of his strength to push his claws against Charmeleon's and overpower him. He then used his left claws and slashed the fire type across the stomach, which sent him flying backwards until he hit the ground.
"OK you two, that's enough." said Red. He walked over to Charmeleon and sprayed a Potion on him in order to heal the injuries he received from the Slash. Charmeleon then felt better and was ready to get back to training. Red decided that he should practice Ember while Sandslash works on improving Dig. The two Pokemon got to work as one started to shoot fireballs into the sky while the other was using his claws to make underground tunnels.
'I wonder how much stronger you two are now compared to back at Celadon City. Or better yet, how much strong you are than Ash's team!' Red thought to himself. It was true that Blue was his main Rival, but Ash was also his Rival. And his brother as well, which makes their sibling rivalry more enjoyable than his one with Blue, since Ash wasn't a cocky jerk who loves to rub his accomplishments him Red's face. The fact that their traveling together with their friends makes things more fun and allows then to learn about how the other fights in battle, so that they can learn from each other. But there are times where they wonder who has gotten stronger faster!
Ever since they had their full battle awhile ago, Red has been wanting a rematch to prove himself to Ash that he's been improving as much as he could, but he knew that the time for that rematch wasn't right yet. However, it was going to be the right time soon and Red knows it because of how much training the two of them have been doing. They have really been working at training their Pokemon a lot harder since their last battle. Plus, they caught new Pokemon since then and have been training them the same way. Red knew that i would soon be time for that rematch, and he'll win!
Red looked at his two Pokemon and saw that they have been doing just as he told them to for the last few minutes. He decided that it was time to call it a day and end today's training. He and the rest of his friend needed to get a move on to the next town so that they could rest up and recharge after all the traveling after all.
"OK you guys, return for now." said Red as he recalled them to their Pokeballs and headed off to see his friends.
(10 Minutes Later)
After finishing up their training, Ash and Red returned to their friends and were ready to continue on towards the next town. The team ended up walking for a while and talked about how the training well to keep themselves entertained.
"Great job on having Pikachu learn Light Screen, Ash. Now he has another way to avoid attacks besides dodging." said Leaf as she walked next to him.
"Thanks, Leaf. I planning on helping him make it stronger sometime soon, then we can be ready for our next battle!" replied the raven haired boy with a smiled. Ash really felt proud of Pikachu for learning a new move that will help him in defense against an opponent. Pikachu also liked it as now he and Ash could get a little more creative.
Red soon spotted a sign that was up ahead and walked a little faster in order to get a good look at it. The sign had the name of the next town written on it and it was apparently called HopHopHop Town.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"That's the strangest name for a town I've ever heard of." said Leaf as others nodded in agreement. They have heard a lot of strange names for towns and cities, but this one easily makes the top ten.
The group started to walk past the sign and enter HopHopHop Town so that they can find a Pokemon Center to rest up in. They all looked around as they walked through city street, it was more of a city than a town since there were tall building that covered the streets for a while. It looked like a peaceful place that was a good place to live if your a city person.
"This place looks really nice." said Misty.
"I know, maybe we'll be able to gather a lot of supplies while we're here. We've been running lower on them lately since leaving Celadon City." Brock pointed out.
"I'm might want to take a look at that book guide of Kanto that we have. I've been meaning to read it for a bit and want to learn more about the kinds of Pokemon we haven't seen yet." replied Red. He wanted to look at that guide for a while now since he thought it might help in out in understanding his Pokemon's levels and moves better.
"One things for sure, we need more Potions. My bottle is about half way done and we might need more in case we get into an accident that may involve a lot of battling." said Ash as he showed his friends his Potions bottle that was about half way empty.
"ARNOLD!" called out a woman's voice from behind them. They turned around to see that the noise was about, but Ash ended up getting pulled into a hug by a woman that must have been the one to shout out. Pikachu hopped off of his shoulder and watched as his best friend was hugged by a stranger with the rest of the group in confusion.
The woman kept hugging Ash and had tears coming out of her eyes of pure happiness, "I'm so glad I found you, Arnold. I was worried sick for days!" she said as she continued to squeeze Ash. He decided that enough was enough and used his arm muscles to separate himself from this woman and get an explanation out of her.
"My name isn't Arnold, it's Ash. Now let good of me!" he said as he was finally able to get out of the hug and walk back to get some distant from this woman.
The woman looked at Ash for a moment and realized that she haven't found this Arnold person, but someone that looks like him, "Oh my, I'm very sorry! I mistaken you for my son, Arnold. You look a little like him." she apologized at she bowed her head.
"Hey, don't worry about it. But is your son missing or something since you thought I looked like him?" asked our raven haired hero.
"Yes, he is. But it's not just my Arnold, several kids have gone missing from this place lately! A few days ago everything was just fine, but them kids started to disappear out of nowhere and have gotten lost, and my little Arnold is one of those many poor lost children." explained the lady.
This caught everyone's attention quickly. Missing kids was a serious case and they could be in great danger if no one knows what's happening to them. The three Pallet Town Trainers remembered when they were younger and their parents always told them the stay close so they don't get lost for their safety. Now they understood how worried their parents might have been if they have gotten lost before, thanks to this woman.
The group started to follow her until they reached a brick wall that had the picture of several different kids all over it. They must have been the missing kids that have disappeared awhile ago. They saw a lot of picture of different kids, this was surprising to the group as so many different kids have gotten lost so quickly!
They them looked towards the right and saw Officer Jenny putting up posters on the wall with pictures of more missing kids. They could easily tell by her face that she was sad about the missing kids, which caused Brock to go into flirt mode.
"Oh Officer Jenny, your face is too beautiful to have such a sad lo-" he was cut off by Misty pulling his ear and dragging him away.
"If she stays around you her mood will get worse" she said.
Leaf looked at all of the picture of the missing kids and the wall and them started to have an idea form inside her head. She looked at the Ketchum brothers who knew what she was thinking and nodded. She them looked at Misty and Brock and they also nodded in agreement.
She then had smirk appeared on her face, "Let's crack this case wide open!"
(At the Pokemon Center)
The team arrived at the Pokemon Center in order to rest up for a bit before they start searching for the missing kids. Red had asked Nurse Joy about them and they received a bit more information. The children had turned out to be missing for three days. Not only that but the Pokemon in the building have also been losing their energy and been getting very tired as well, which also started three days ago. The group knew that it couldn't have been a coincidence that the missing kids and tired Pokemon just started happening three days ago and realized that they are both connected.
"You guys think that if we find out what's causing the Pokemon to be so tired, it could lead us to the missing kids?" asked Ash as he voiced his theory.
"That or the other way around. We still don't know where to start looking that the parents or police haven't looked yet." replied Brock.
"This sure is a hard case."sighed Leaf.
Right before anyone could do or say anything else, Pikachu started the feel a little sleepy as he's eyes began to close and he's body started losing energy to move. He got so tired that he lost his grip and fell off of Ash's shoulder to the floor.
"Pikachu!" called out Ash as he picked up his best friend to see if he was already. Ash was glad to see that Pikachu had only fallen asleep, but this made him just like the rest of the Pokemon in the Pokemon Center.
"Not Pikachu too!?" said Leaf.
"Looks like we're down a team member." said Misty.
Nurse Joy took Pikachu from Ash's arms and took him to rest with the other sleeping Pokemon in the back. Ash looked sad that his best friend was now the victim of this strange mystery and that he'll need to figure it out without him. Misty put a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him a little, "Don't worry, Ash. Pikachu is only sleeping and will be taken care of by Nurse Joy, she'll figure something out soon."
"In the meantime, I think I know where we can find what's making the Pokemon so sleepy." said Officer Jenny. Her statement caught everyone's attention as they looked at her with a surprised look on their faces.
"You do, how?" asked Red.
Officer Jenny picked up her phone and explained that it was picking up sleep waves, "We'll use my phone to follow the sleep waves and guide us to where ever they're coming from. Once we find out where the sleep waves are coming from, we'll find t missing kids as well." she explained her plan.
Everyone thought that her plan could work and decided to follow her as she lead them out of the Pokemon Center and into the city. The group stayed close to each other in order to not get separated and end up like the missing children. Officer Jenny kept on following the sleep waves with her phone, while the team followed her to wherever it was they were going.
The team had followed Officer Jenny through many parts of the city. Through streets, roads, shops, alleyways, etc. Until they came up to a skyscraper. Officer Jenny's phone was picking up the most sleep waves from the skyscraper and everyone thought that sleep waves are coming from inside the building. They all walked in and the phone then began picking up more sleep waves.
"Maybe we should head to the top floor to see if their coming from up there?" suggested Red.
"That's a good idea." replied Officer Jenny. She and the team waited for an elevator to come down and pick them up. Once the doors opened the team walked in and tried their best to squeeze in the small space for a few minutes.
"We're getting close! The sleep waves are getting stronger as we're going up." explained Jenny as she kept on looking at her phone. The sleep wave signal kept growing the higher the elevator took them. Which meant whatever was causing the missing children and sleepy Pokemon problem was getting closer.
The elevator doors opened when they reached the top floor and revealed a giant room fulled with people dressed up in fancy formal wear. They also saw a Drowzee and Hypno sitting on a podium.
Red looked at the two Pokemon and soon had realization hit him like a lightning bolt, "That's it! I figured it out." he said.
"May I help you kids with something?" asked a man dressed in formal wear as he walked up to the group.
"Are you the owner of this place?" asked Misty.
"Why yes I 'am young lady. What can I do for you?" asked the gentleman.
"We've been picking up some sleep waves that were coming from here and came to investigate." explained Ash.
While the Ketchum brothers were explaining the situation. Leaf pulled out her Pokedex and scanned Drowzee and Hypno.
Drowzee
The Hypnosis Pokemon
It puts enemies to sleep and then eats their dreams. Occasionally it gets sick from eating bad dreams.
Hypno
The Hypnosis Pokemon
And the evolved form of Drowzee. When it locks eyes with an enemy, it will use a mix of PSI moves such as HYPNOSIS and CONFUSION.
Ash and Red had just finished explaining the situation to the short gentleman. He the closed his eyes and started to think about what the boys had just told him, and how they think that the sleep waves that the two Hypnosis Pokemon are creating is the cause of the tired Pokemon and missing children.
While that was going on, Misty walked over to Hypno and took a close look at him. But this proved to backfire on her as she was soon hypnotized by him. This caught everyone's attention as she then started to leave the building while she was acting like a Seel.
"Seel Seel Seel." said the redhead imitating a Seel.
Everyone looked at her like she had grown a second head. But before a word could leave their mouths Misty started to run out of the room and back to the elevator.
"Misty, wait!" called out Brock. But she entered the elevator and rode it down to the bottom of the building.
"OK, here's the plan. Ash and Leaf, you two go after her. Brock and I will stay here to to see if Drowzee and Hypno can somehow fix this whole mess." instructed Red.
"I'll come you two as well." said Officer Jenny to Ash and Leaf.
Red reached into his pocket and pulled out a Walkie Talkie which was blue, he then handed it to his brother before pulling out a red one, "We'll stay in touch."
"Right." nodded Ash as he and the two females left for the elevator.
Red hoped that this plan would work and that it would work soon, because Brock has already started complaining about how lucky Ash was to be accompanied by two girls while he was stuck with Red.
"Why couldn't I have gone with Leaf and Jenny?" he cried as anime tears poured down his face.
'Please hurry, Ash!' thought Red with and annoyed tone.
(With Ash)
Ash, Leaf and Jenny had caught up to Misty and began to follow her slowly from a distant in order to avoid scaring her while she still thought she was a Seel. It was going quite slowly and Ash was wondering if they were ever going to find the missing kids.
"How are we sure that Misty is leading up to the kids?" Ash asked his companies.
"We don't, Ash. We just need to be patient and see what happens." answered Jenny.
"Hey, she's on the move!" said Leaf.
The other two looked at towards where Leaf was pointing and saw Misty moving further away from them, which was their signal to keep moving. The three of them continued to follow Misty slowly, but made sure to not go too slow or they might lose her.
The three them caught up to her and out her and the rest of the missing children in a park surrounding the skyscraper. All of them were acting like Pokemon, which meant that the sleep waves really were the answer to the mystery.
"The children!" yelled Jenny.
"They were in this park the whole time?!" yelled Leaf.
"I guess Hypno's waves really were the cause of this. I'm going to tell, Red." Ash pulled out this blue Walkie Talkie and informed Red about the children and how they were all acting like Pokemon due to Hypno's sleep waves.
"-Looks like we're stuck with another problem. How are we going to snap them out if it if Hypno's sleep waves are making them act up?-" asked the voice from the blue device.
Ash thought carefully about what he and the others could do in order to wake up Misty and the kids from their Pokemon minds. He then thought that if Hypno was the cause of it, then maybe Drowzee could be the answer to this problem.
"Bring Drowzee here, he might just be out answer." replied Ash.
(10 Minutes Later)
Ash looked over to his right to see Brock, the gentleman from before and Red, why was carrying Drowzee on his back. The three of them stopped and looked at the kids in the park all acting like some kind of Pokemon.
"It good to see you guys, but what are you doing here, sir?" asked Leaf.
"It was my Hypno that caused this mess. Therefore, I must be here in order to help fix the mess I made." replied the man with a hint of guilt.
Ash put his hand on his shoulder and smiled, "You didn't mean to cause any trouble, but since your here now that's what's important."
"I said the we get Drowzee to undo what Hypno did and do it now. There must be a lot of worried parents that are looking for their kids right now." said Red.
Drowzee nodded and walked over to the children and Misty. He used his powers to put them all to sleep peacefully, he them clapped his hands together as loud as he could in order to awake them from their trance. Misty was the first to watch up as she slowly opened her eyes and found herself outside in a park with a bunch of kids who were getting up from the ground.
"What happened?" she asked her friends as she slowly got up from the ground.
Leaf let out a sigh of relief, "It a long story, Misty."
Officer Jenny smiled and was happy to see that things had worked out. She grabbed her phone and started to call all of the parents of the missing kids. It was time for them to get back home to their families.
(1 Hour Later)
After the kids were returned to their parents, Officer Jenny thanks the team for their help. The gentleman returned home and promised to find another way to get to sleep easier without the use of a Pokemon, that way another situation like this could be avoided. When the team returned to the Pokemon Center, Pikachu and the rest of the Pokemon were all better.
Misty ended up getting a new Pokemon in a Pysduck, but she didn't catch it like a normal Trainer. The Pokemon walked up to her belt and made a Pokeball fall off, which he them touched and let himself get caught. Misty was less then thrilled with her new Pokemon as she thought it was too boring. Even if it was a water type it was also a psychic type. Misty didn't like Pysduck at all and was now stuck with him.
Everyone thought that she was being a little over dramatic about it and promised that they'll all help her train it to show her that it's a cool Pokemon.
With all of that done, Ash decided that it was time to get some training done with Pikachu and his new move, Light Screen.
Pikachu had created a screen of aura in front of himself just as Ash had asked of him. Ash was looking at Pikachu, once again happy that he learned a new move for future battles. He also has Ivysaur with him to help out with Pikachu's training.
"Use Razor Leaf."
Ivysaur started to to fire sharp bladed leaves at Pikachu, who had his Light Screen up to protect himself from them. The green projectiles made contact with the wall of aura and broke upon impact as the Light Screen was still held up.
"Try using Vine Whip."
Ivysaur grew two long vines from his back and started to use them to hit the Light Screen, he whipped it as hard as he could, but it just won't go down.
"Wow, that Light Screen is pretty strong." said Ash as he looked at Pikachu with a smile.
"(Thanks, Ash. I can't wait to use it in battle.)" replied Pikachu.
Ash also couldn't wait for when he has Pikachu use his first defenses move as well. He was just wondering hard strong it will be after a few days of training with it, since today was only day one.
"Return for now, Ivysaur." Ash called back his grass type to it's Pokeball.
Pikachu put down his Light Screen and it disappeared before he walked over to Ash and looked up with a face that looked like it had a question. "You need something, buddy?" asked Ash.
"(I just want to know how you felt when I wasn't with you when you guys were investigating the missing kids and sleep waves?)" asked the electric Pokemon.
Ash answered almost immediately, "I feel really sad not having you there with me. Ever since you started riding on my shoulder the day we met, it felt like you belonged there. Not having you by my side felt kind off empty and I didn't like it, since my best friend wasn't with me."
Pikachu hoped on to Ash's right shoulder and smiled as he was happy to get that kind of answer.
"(Thanks for say that, Ash. It feels nice to know that you care about me like that.)" smiled Pikachu.
Ash felt happy that he's first Pokemon valued his friendship, "Want to get back to training?" he asked.
Pikachu nodded his head and hoped off of Ash's shoulder. Ash called out Charmander to help them out with improving Light Screen.
"Use Flamethrower." he ordered.
The little fire type opened his mouth and fired a beam of red hot fire that was heading towards Pikachu at a rapid speed.
"Use Light Screen, Pikachu."
Pikachu put a wall of purple aura in front of him and it protected him from the fire that Charmander unleashed at him. The Light Screen had held it's own fairly well and it was keeping Pikachu safe from the flames, just like how a shield should. Charmander ended his Flamethrower attack and put an end to the fire, which caused Pikachu to bring down the Light Screen.
"That was great you two. Want to try it again?" asked Ash.
The two Pokemon nodded their heads and soon returned to their positions. Ash had Charmander use Scratch and Pikachu use Light Screen once more. Charmander's glowing white claws were attacking the wall of purple aura that was protecting Pikachu, but the shield was too strong and wasn't even cracking from any damage. Charmander grew tired and just stopped, which made the Light Screen go down again since Pikachu was now safe.
"You can return for now, Charmander. Thanks for the help." smiled Ash as he called back Charmander into his Pokeball.
"(Is that it for training today, Ash?)" asked Pikachu.
"Are you too tired to keep going?" replied Ash with a question of his own.
"(No, I can keep going for just a bit longer. Let's keep on training!)" replied Pikachu with a smiled.
"Come on out, Squirtle." Ash tossed another Pokeball into the air and out came the little water starter who then fall into Ash's arms and into a hug.
"Hey, Squirtle, want to help us with some training?" asked Ash as he held his water type in his arms.
The turtle Pokemon nodded his head and jumped out Ash's arms to move in front of Pikachu to get started.
"Use Water Gun."
Squritle opened his mouth and blasted a powerful jet of water at Pikachu as hard as he could.
"Light Screen."
Pikachu used his new move again and created a powerful wall of purple aura to stop the water from coming into contact with him. The water hit that purple wall of aura and was unable to damage it and get to Pikachu as it wasn't strong enough. Pikachu's Light Screen was holding pretty well and was keeping him safe from the water.
"Use Skull Bash."
Squirtle began to run up to Pikachu with his head down in order to smash the top of his head against the mouse Pokemon. But the Light Screen protected the yellow Pokemon and Squirtle bashed his head against the purple wall.
"Are you alright, Squirtle?" asked Ash.
"(No worries, Ash. I barely felt that.") smirked the turtle Pokemon.
"If that's the case then do it again!"
Squirtle started to run up towards Pikachu while using Skull Bash again, But the Light Screen was still there and hadn't be canceled out yet. Squirtle's head hit the wall of aura again, but it still wasn't enough to break it. Squirtle's head was still fine though and he want back to do it again. However, the results were the same.
"Think it's time to switch things up a bit, use Rapid Spin." Ash commanded.
Squirtle pulled all of his limbs and head into his shell as it started to spin quickly as it collided with the Light Screen. However, that also didn't damage the aura wall as it still held it own. Pikachu was glad that he learned this move cause now he can make it difficult for an opponent to land a blow on him while he attacks back at full power!
Squirtle used Rapid Spin again and ended up hitting the Light Screen again, but he bounced off of it and he stopped spinning to see if he damaged the shield. He was frustrated to see that he didn't.
"(How can that Light Screen be that strong when Pikachu just learned it today?!)" said the tiny turtle Pokemon.
"(Maybe I'm just so strong that it's powered up by the amount of power that I have.)" replied Pikachu as he brought the Light Screen down.
"Whatever the reason is I'm glad it's that strong. Great job both of you." smiled Ash. He then returned Squirtle to his Pokeball for some rest, while Pikachu climbed on his shoulder. Ash then turned around and started to walk back into the Pokemon Center to get dinner.
It has been a long day for Ash and his friends, but after a lot of training to get stronger and solving the mystery of missing children, the team is now ready for a good night's sleep. More adventure and challenges for the team of five have yet to come as the journey to the Kanto League continues!
