The Pokémon Junior Cup has concluded. Several months later, the much anticipated Unova League also began. The battles were intense and the high expectations were met when Ash and his good friend, Hilda, clashed in the final round. All eyes focused closely on the Unova League battle field, including: Misty, Iris, Cilan, and Paul. Ash's Charizard and Hilda's Samurott locked in a fierce match. However, the battle was interrupted when a new threat manifested itself right there on the battle field...
"Charizard: use SLASH!" Ash commanded. Chariard flew towards Samurott with its sharp claws extended.
"Samurott: deflect with MEGA HORN!" Hilda retaliated as Samurott and Charizrd locked in a stalemate.
"The ingredients to this match are creating quite the interesting dish..." Cilan noted as he closely observed the action.
"It's crazy! I can't tell who is going to win! I don't know who to cheer for, either! I want both of them to win!" Iris said with a hint of confliction. "AAAAAXXXXXXEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW," her Axew added.
"Come on, you can do this!" Misty said under her breath as the action grew more and more riveting.
Paul also watched the match closely with his arms folded.
"THIS IS IT, FOLKS! CHARIZARD AND SAMUROTT ARE MAKING THEIR FINAL PUSH! WHO WILL BE THE UNOVA LEAGUE CHAMPION!" the announcer declared to the roaring crowd.
Ash grinned, "It's been fun, but I can tell Samurott is at its limit. Time to finish this, Charizard..." he said with confidence.
"We'll see, Ketchum!" she shot back.
"LOOK IN THE SKY!"
"WHAT IS THAT?!"
As if some cosmic shift switched the intense emotion of the battle, the whole stadium abruptly became silent as people began staring up in the sky. The bright sun hid behind dark looming clouds that seemingly came from nowhere. A large, gaping hole in the sky captured the attention of every soul at the stadium.
"What is going on? What the heck is that thing?" Hilda said as she stared into the hole in the sky.
Just then, a strange creature that resembled a weird blue jellyfish emerged from the dark abyss of the hole. The creature eerily drifted down from the sky and hovered in front of Hilda, who after a few silent moments, passed out and fail on the ground.
Paul ran down the stadium steps, knocking over people in the process, until he jumped on the battle field and knelt down with Hilda. "Get up! What happened?!" he shouted. No response.
"What is going on?" Misty inquired.
"Hey! What are you?! Why are you here?!" Ash yelled.
The beast continued to float in front of Paul and Hilda.
Paul grabbed a pokeball from his belt and snarled, "I don't know what you did to her, but you're about to pay for it!" he exclaimed as he threw a pokeball in front of him, summoning his Tyranitar. The large rock/dark-type let out an intimidating roar.
Ash scurried beside Paul as Charizard and Tyranitar stared down the strange beast...
