Chapter 21
'This is awkward.' I thought looking around the table. It's so quiet that you can hear a pin drop and nobody even had eye contact with each other. I'm siting between Ruki and Shu, the oldest of the brothers. Yui was siting next Kanato and Karlheinz. I can tell she was feeling uncomfortable with this silence like me. I couldn't take the silence anymore so I decided to speak up.
"So, Kou-chan?" I smiled at him. He looked at me with that smile that never left his face.
"What's up Aki-chan?"
"I heard you're an idol now." Kou's eyes were wide for second before finally having the hint in the eyes that spoke are-you-kidding-me?
"Yes, I am. I'm surprised you didn't know that."
"Oh well. Um... I don't have favorite idol and since all this paperwork came. I had less time on all the new things that is going, including... Cordelia." Karlheinz made eye contact with me, his eyes shown guilt and sadness.
"Akira. I'm sorry for what she did to your parents." Karlheinz says grabbing my attention. The Sakamaki brothers looked down in sadness while the Mukami brothers looked confused.
"What does Cordelia have to do with your parents Akira?" Yuuma asked me. I looked at him, then looked at my half finish plate.
"Cordelia... hired Vampire hunters to kill my parents." The Mukami's brothers eyes were wide with shocked.
"Then..."
"If you're wondering what happen to her, we killed her." Shu spoke up startling me. I looked up at him, his eyes were still closed, leaning against the chair. Ruki looked at down at me. He put his hand on my head which startled me again.
"I'm sorry we couldn't be their to protect you." Ruki's eyes were soft but his smirk wasn't it. It must because the Sakamaki brothers are here that he didn't want show weakness.
"She's find being protect by us." Ayato shouted across the table to Ruki. Ruki glared at Ayato, both of them having a staring contest. Reiji sighed in annoyance.
"If you two wish to fight then take it somewhere else." Reiji spoke up. Ayato and Ruki glanced at Reiji finally stop glaring at each other, and going back to eating their meal. Once again, the silence was back in the room. I actually thought we were starting a good conversation but it wasn't. I should have no any better than to try. I sighed in disappointment from no one talking.
"Akira, why don't you explain to us how you met the Mukami brothers?" I looked up to see Reiji speaking up. I was surprised to know he started the conversation since he's the person that like to be the quiet and discipline type.
"Um... well..." I put my fork down looking at everyone. "After I met all of the of you, the Sakamaki brothers. I wanted to become stronger so I can protect the people who are important to me. Once I knew what kind of world you all are living, I wanted to find away where you guys wouldn't have to feel like that. So, I asked Heinz-oto-san to help me become stronger. That's when I met the Mukami brothers." I faced all the Mukami brothers with a slight smile. I turned back to the Sakamaki brothers and Yui. "Heinz-oto-san brought the Mukami brothers to help me become stronger, and at the same day I discovered my powers." It was quiet for few moments. "That's I met the Mukami brothers anyway."
"I see." Reiji spoke up. I looked at the Sakamaki brothers to see them glare at the Mukami brothers. I looked at Shu whispering in his ears.
"Is their a reason why you guys hate the Mukami brothers?" Shu sighed but answered my question.
"We are rivals with them. We have been for a very long time and now... it just got more competitive. After all, you are the one that we all are fighting for." My eyes widen looking at all the brothers. They kept on glaring at each other and the tension was terrible. I decided to stand up making their attention on me. I clapped my hands together in an idea.
"I have an idea. Since we are all here, how about we all separate in the house. You all get to understand each other better that way. What do you think? Let's split up okay?" The Sakamaki and Mukami brothers looked at each other before finally nodding. "Great. Yui, you are coming with me." Yui stand up walking to my side.
"Alright." Yui replied. I looked back at them having a smile on face.
"Have fun now. Oh, and... NO fighting." I made the 'no' a little louder than the rest so they will get the point. Yui and I walked out of the room to hear the footsteps and sits move at very fast pace. We sighed hearing that the dinner table is completely quiet.
"Man, I didn't know how long I could stand it in there." Yui says.
"Tell me about it. The tension in their is hard to breathe."
"Well it does make sense though. Why they are like that anyway." I looked at her confused.
"What do you mean?" Yui looked at me shocked and confused.
"Seriously Akira!" My eyes widen from her calling me Akira instead of Onee-chan. "They hold special place for you in their hearts. They are fighting for you."
'After all, you are the one that we are fighting for.' Shu's voice was stuck in my head. 'No way. T-That isn't what I wanted.' I looked at Yui to see her worried for me.
"Akira...?"
"I-I'm fine." I reassured Yui with a smile. I patted her shoulder and walked outside to see Karlheinz looking at the trees. "Heinz-oto-san..." Karlheinz turned to look at me with smile having a flower in his hands.
"Here you go." He hands the pink flower in his hands. I smell the flower to smell of cherry blossoms.
"Thank you." Karlheinz's eyes and smile was soft as he rubs my cheek with his back hand.
"I'm sorry Akira. It's true that I did at the last piece of you memory, but I wanted to wait and see for myself if you are ready." I looked up at him to see a hint of sadness. "Now it's only getting harder for you. You have to choose one of sons to be the heir. Not only that, you are the only heir of your father's and mother's clan. It must be tough for you."
"I'm fine. I have your sons, including the Mukami brothers, to help me. Though..." I turned to look at him. "You must give me time and deciding on your heir, including my husband. You know that I love them with all my heart, so it's hard on who I decided to be my husband." It was quiet as Karlheinz put his hand to his side.
"I understand. I'll give you time... as much time as you need. After all, for us, vampires, our time has stopped." I nodded my head in understanding. Karlheinz used his powers to disappear before my eyes. I looked down on the flower that smells of cherry blossoms. I let go of the flower seeing it go high in the air.
'I am no longer human.' I thought to myself walking around the garden going up the stairs. 'I realized that a long time ago. Even though the half-human is gone... I still feel human. Yui and I are no longer human. We defeated Cordelia, I got all of my memories, and saved Yui from dying. The only thing left is choosing one of them, the brothers that I love with all of my heart.' My hands were in fist remembering all the things that has been going through since we first came to this house. 'What is... going to happen now?' I was walking in my room to see piles and piles of paper.
I sighed feeling the stress come to me. I walked up to my desk not even bothering changing my clothes yet. I took a piece of paper from the left pile to read about a project. 'Adam and Eve.' I read more of this project to find out it was Karlheinz idea in the first place. 'Demon lord's daughter... Cordelia... Yui...' My eyes scanned even more on this paper. 'Change the world? What the heck?' My eyes widen even more. 'A... human girl and a vampire princess... named 'Eve.' 'Eve's blood would choose an 'Adam'? It can't be... Heinz-oto-san is...' I stand up from my desk dropping paper from my desk. I ran out of my room to ran in an inhuman pace.
I ran fast as I can, looking for Karlheinz. 'It's his turn to explain.' I kept running and running to find him with no luck. "Damn it..." I walked out in the garden to be run into Yuuma.
"Wow. Easy their Akira." He holds onto my shoulders. I look up at him in surprised.
"Yuu-chan!" Yuuma smiled down at me.
"What's a matter Akira? Did something happen?" Yuuma asked worried.
"Y-Yuu-chan, this project! Adam and Eve! Did you know about it?!" I shouted at him. Yuuma's eyes narrowed at me before gripping on my arms.
"That's right. We all knew since the whole beginning." I looked up at him Yuuma to see him angry. "The vampire princess's and the human girl's blood will decided which Adam they choose. Of course, you, Akira, must choose an Adam for you clan. Though, that girl..."
"Yuu-chan! Please don't bring Yui in to this!" I shouted at him. "I don't Yui in this project!" Yuuma's hands on my shoulder loosen.
"You really care about her that much." Yuuma says.
"She's... my little sister. So, it's only natural for me wanting to protect her." Yuuma put his hand on the back of my neck.
"What about us?" My eyes widen looking at Yuuma feeling the ticklish sensation on my neck.
"Y-Yuu-chan..." Yuuma's face was close to mine that I can feel his breath on my lips. I shut my eyes to feel someone pull on my arm. I looked up to see Shu glaring at Yuuma. "S-Shu-chan...?" Shu looked at me then looked at Yuuma angry.
"Let's go." He tells me, dragging me with him.
"S-Shu-chan..."
"Akira!" I looked back at Yuuma to see him smirking. "He knew too." Shu's hand gripped on my arm pulling farther away from the smirking Yuuma.
"S-Shu-chan! Wait! Wait a minute!" I got out of his grasp to rub my hurting arm. Shu didn't turn to face me or talk to me. "You know about this Adam and Eve project." He didn't reply to me. "Is that the reason why Yui was here in the first place? All this time... none of you searched for me." Shu's eyes were wide looking at me. "So, if I didn't come here with Yui then... you wouldn't care if I was alive..."
"No!" Shu shouted at me. I looked up at him my eyes widen. "That isn't it... We... I... searched for 6 years to find you." My eyes were even wider. "Even if Yui was the only girl here, I would still try and find you."
"Shu-chan..." My face turned to blank as I sighed thinking and leaning against a tree. 'Damn, just when I thought drama was going to be gone. It just comes right back to me.'
"Akira...?" Shu walks up to me leaning against the tree with me.
"Shu-chan... Yuuma... is Ed-chan, right?" Shu didn't say anything at first but he nodded his head.
"Yeah. He seems to have lost his memories. Like you." My hands were in fist.
"He's completely different, but... their are some parts of him that is like the old Ed-chan." Shu put his hand on my head.
"He'll only show you his soft side now." He ruffled my hair to my annoyance.
"I know." 'I want to scream at Shu, tell him that we must tell Yuuma about his past. The past he has forgotten. But...' I glanced at Shu to see a little guilt and sadness just from seeing or remembering Edgar. 'He seems to be hurting right now.' I sighed getting his hand off my head, stretching. I smiled at him the moon shining at me.
"Well, I have to go back inside. Oh!" Shu looked at me confused. "Next time, tell me about Karlheinz plan that involves me and Yui, okay?" Shu had a small smile nodding his head. I walked back inside the house but once I did I can smell a familiar scent of blood.
'Ugh... It's just one problem after the other.' I thought. I ran up the stairs to hear Kanato yelling. 'Kana-chan...?' I ran even faster to the scent of the blood getting stronger. I arrived to the door to hear Laito trying to calm down Kanato. I open the door to see Azusa bleeding, Kanato yelling at Azusa, and Laito leaning against the sink calming down Kanato.
"Akira...chan..." I looked at Azusa to see his arm bleeding.
"Azu-chan!" I ran up to him to grab his bleeding arm. "What were you thinking?! I told you! I hate it when you hurt yourself!" Azusa seemed taking back as I grab a towel, damping on water, and put it on his arm. "You need to take care of yourself more."
"Akira-chan~" I looked at Laito to was angry, but smiling gently. "You seem so worried about him. Why is that?"
"I agree. Don't forget Akira. You are mine." Kanato spoke up. I didn't look at them as I wrapped his wound around the bandage he has. The way they spoke to me, it sounded like I was just some property they claim. Not even person, at all to them. Is that all I am to them? Just some property?
"Akira-chan...?"
"Just like you, Azu-chan is my friend." I glared at them. Their eyes widen as they look at my tear eyes. I stand up walking up to them and past them. "Even now, you only think of me as a toy." Their eyes were wide as they call my name. I ignored their call closing the door behind me. I walked down the hallway to a different room. I looked to see Kou and Subaru having a dart game. Well, mostly Kou is playing the game. Subaru is leaning against the couch crossing his arm in irritation.
"Aki-chan?" Kou spoke up. I looked up at him, but regretted as both of their eyes were wide. I hid my face trying to get rid of the tears that is coming out of my eyes. "Aki-chan, are you alright?"
"Huh? Y-yeah. I am alright." I whipped my tears from my cheek.
"Liar." Kou was in front of me, pulling on my chin to look at him. "If you're alright then... why are you crying?" He put his hand that was on my chin to my cheek whipping the tear. In the next second, someone pulled me away from Kou to be behind their back.
"Suba-chan...?" Subaru glared at Kou.
"Don't you dare touch her." Subaru spoke angry.
"Aw, Subaru-kun. She is important to me as much as she is important to you." His statement made Subaru even angrier.
"I will never let you touch Akira." He declared dragging me out of the room.
"Too bad." He acted like he was sad by pouting. He then looked at me smiling. "See you later Aki-chan." I looked back at him, but then looked at Subaru. Subaru kept glaring at Kou until we finally were out and far away from the room.
Subaru hit the wall making a huge dent. "I'll never let those Mukami brothers touch you." He looked at me serious. I knew if I try to argue with Subaru he will only get more angry.
"I understand, but..." Subaru glared at me telling me to be quiet, but I refused. "Suba-chan, please. I understand the rivals between you guys, but please don't hurt yourself for me." I grip his hand that punched the wall.
"Akira..." I can feel Subaru tense all of a sudden.
"Suba-"
"Blood..." He cut me off. "I can smell blood, and not just anyone's blood." I smell the scent of air as my eyes widen.
"Yui..." I looked up at Subaru who nodded his head. I let go of his hand and ran to the direction of Yui's blood. When I finally caught sight of Yui, I saw Ruki drinking her blood. 'The Eve's blood will choose an 'Adam.' A human girl and a vampire princess is 'Eve.'' I remembered what I read about the Adam and Eve project. My hands were in fist as I went down the stairs.
"Akira..." Yui saw me feeling weak. Ruki was surprised as he glanced at my hurt expression.
"How could you?" I walked over to Yui to pull her away from Ruki. Yui's head was leaning against my chest. She is a vampire, but she still is a newborn. "Yui..." I spoke softly. She looked up at me smiling even though I know she lost a lot of blood. "I... I'm sorry." I hugged Yui tightly feeling my tears coming down my cheek.
"Akira... I'm okay. Don't cry. Please, don't cry."
"Hey Chichinashi! Why do I smell-" Ayato stopped to see me tightly hug Yui crying. Yui was breathing heavily from the blood loss. Ayato glared at Ruki and I can feel the air blow in my hair. Thing is though, the door or the window isn't open at all. I heard a bang to see Ayato grabbing Ruki's collar backing him up against the door.
"You bastard! I'll never forgive you making Akira cry." Ayato shouted angrily. I have never seen him this angry before. Ruki looked at me feeling guilty in his eyes. Ruki must have been hungry to suddenly drink Yui's blood. I can understand though since I am vampire too.
"Wait!" I shouted at him. Ayato's eyes still held anger as he looked at me. I looked at him and then looked at Yui. I helped Yui stand up and Ayato let go of Ruki to help me with Yui. I let Ayato take care of Yui and I walked up to Ruki. "Ru-chan, are you okay?" Ruki looked at me as he couldn't believe I asked him that. "You were hunger, right?"
"You...really are an idiot." Ruki says looking at me. I can see that his eyes was glowing. He grabbed my arm and I can hear Yui and Ayato shout at me. I looked at them in the corner of my eye.
"Everything is going to be okay. I trust Ru-chan." I put my hand on his head. He looks almost hesitant but I push his head a little telling him it's alright. Ruki pierced his fangs into my neck. I can hear Yui gasp and Ayato hissed from the smell of my blood. Ruki's eyes were wide as he looked at the puncture wounds he made.
"Sweet. Very sweet." He take a bigger gulp of my blood. He kept drinking until he was fully satisfied with his hunger. How much gulps he made from my blood seemed like he didn't drink blood for 100 years. I felt the room going in and out as I slumped to Ruki's chest. "Akira are you okay?" Ruki released his fangs from my neck looking at me.
"I-I'm fine. I'm just... dizzy." Ruki's arms tighten around me. I looked over my shoulder to see Ayato and Yui standing up. Yui looks better, and Ayato glared at Ruki. Ayato walked to Ruki and I to pull me away from Ruki. "A-Aya-chan..." I struggle to say his name.
"Since Akira wanted you to drink her blood. I'll not kill you, but... the next time you drink her blood. I'll surely kill you. Akira is mine." Ayato pulled on my wrist dragging me with him.
"Aww~ Ruki is the only one to drink Aki-chan's sweet blood." Kou spoke in disappointed. I hear Yuuma chuckling.
"Things are going to get interesting for a little Akira." Yuuma says crossing his arms.
"Akira... is our... princess." Azusa says. Ruki smirks hearing all of his brothers speak up of Akira.
"Soon, Akira will be with us." Ruki laughed looking at Akira and Ayato walking up the stair with Yui going to her room.
Akira was leaning against the window shield while Ayato was hovering over her. He caged her by putting his hands on the window.
"Don't give anyone your blood. You are mine." Ayato put his hand to slide down my shoulder full access. He kissed her collarbone smirking. "Your blood, your body, everything is mine. I won't let those Mukami have you." He pierced his fangs on my collarbone, but it didn't hurt at all. It was the same as Ruki's, gentle, sweet, and full of caring. I didn't know that someone else's fangs can feel like this.
"Aya...chan..." The room was getting dizzier and dizzier. I looked up at Ayato's green eyes to see him smiling at me. He smoothed down my hair whispering in my ear.
"My Akira." That was the last thing I heard falling in the darkness leaning against Ayato.
I hope you guys like this chapter. I still need your help! I have no idea who to choose from the Sakamaki and Mukami brothers. I don't know if I should make the ending with all the characters having a happy ending or just pick one. Please help!
