New chapter guys, took me a while, hey? anyway hope you enjoy
Early Saturday morning Edd's breakfast was interrupted by a knock at the door and on the other side were Ed and Eddy. They went straight to the kitchen and helped themselves to bowls of cereal before sitting down on either side of the spot Edd had set his breakfast at on his dining table. Edd smiled at them both before sitting down once more to finish his breakfast. When the three of them had finished Eddy turned in his chair and Edd was surprised by the serious look he had in his eyes.
"Ok, real talk, what's up with last night? Did something happen between you and Kevin?"
Edd was shocked, had he really been that obvious? He sighed before answering, "Oh, no, I'm sure it's nothing… I'm just over thinking it."
Eddy bit his lip in thought, "well, I guess you do that a lot… But tell us anyway- it's obviously bothering you."
Edd frowned for a moment, "Ok… But don't laugh at me if it seems foolish."
Ed spoke up at that point, hugging Edd from behind, "Of course we won't Double D!"
Edd smiled, "Thankyou Ed. Alright…" he murmured unsure of how to start. "Well, basically I accidentally let slip the… Th-the words or phrase whichever you prefer, really, and it was completely impulsive and I hadn't really meant to say it-"
"Sock head, god damn it just get to the point! What did you say?"
"I said "I love you"" Edd blurted and went pink at the memory Eddy and Ed looked shocked but after a few seconds Eddy came to his senses.
"And do you?"
"I, Uh-… That is to say… Yes." Edd stuttered and Eddy smirked at him.
"Then what's the problem."
"He, uh, he didn't say it back… I tried again when I was about to leave for school but he didn't say it… Still hasn't."
"That bastard." Eddy whispered hoarsely.
Edd couldn't help but laugh a little at that, when Ed started speaking.
"Hey, Double D… maybe you just need to talk to Kevin about it. I'm sure it's nothing too bad, he doesn't want you to be sad."
"It is Shovel chin we're talking about." Eddy pointed out.
"Eddy!" Edd cried indignantly, "No, Ed. You're probably right, I'll speak with him later today."
Kevin stood outside Edd's house, a bouquet of flowers behind his back. He knew it was a little cheesy but he hoped they would help him to at least get a chance to talk to Edd, he already had an idea of what Edd might be upset and was worried he might not be able to fix his mistake. He knocked on the door and soon enough Edd opened it. Kevin was a little surprised Edd didn't look angry or sad and didn't close the door in his face. He looked calm and that worried Kevin more.
"Hey, I brought you flowers…"
Edd looked at the bouquet with some distaste and muttered, "I don't need something that will die in a week."
Shit. Kevin thought and said the first thing that came to his head, "Th-then… You can have my love… That won't die… Ever."
Edd look startled but shook his head quickly, "Fake flowers never die also, is that what you're trying to offer me, something fake?" Kevin could see the calm demeanour Edd had worn so well was slipping.
"What? No. I do. It's not fake."
"Then why did it take you so long to say it?" Edd cried.
"I- I don't know, I'm not good with emotions. I mean even saying what I said just then I was sure you were going to laugh at me… Rushing in to things like that it's… scary."
"As bad as finally saying it and having the other person not reciprocate?"
"I'm sorry." Kevin murmured.
"I- it's fine… I may have over reacted." Edd replied and Kevin looked up at him, it may have been forgiveness but it wasn't the way Kevin wanted it. Edd had taken the power away from himself and given it to Kevin, he was doubting himself again.
"No, you were right to call me out on my bull shit, if I were in your position I would have been freaking out!"
Edd smiled at him, "Thank you Kevin, and just so you know I'd really prefer it if you'd tell me what you're feeling, I promise I won't laugh."
Kevin felt pinpricks of water starting to form at the corners of his eyes and he squeezed them shut, stepping forward and hugging Edd, "Right now, I feel as though I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone."
Edd wrapped his arms around Kevin and held him tightly. Behind him he heard soft laughter and pulled away from him to see Ed and Eddy were looking into the front room at the two of them as he watched Eddy's laughter grew louder until he was on the floor and Kevin growled in agitation.
"Why are the dorks here!" he yelled and Edd couldn't help but laugh as well. Kevin looked at him then back at Ed and Eddy, Ed now also grinning and laughing goofily and suddenly a smile broke out on his face. Kevin grabbed the, still laughing, Edd and hugged him even tighter.
From where he was, he heard Ed shout, "Group hug," and laughed at Eddy's annoyed response before the two collided with Edd and he.
