In this chapter we get to see what happens with the demons and the couples.

Miroku had held Kagome for a long while after they had made love and only moved when she said.

"We need to prepare for the demon horde."

Shaking his head he replied.

"They aren't coming until nightfall. We need to make love again to strengthen our bodies."

Flipping her over onto her back he began to kiss her only for her to giggle and say.

"Inuyasha and Kikyo will be back soon. I don't want him seeing me naked."

Miroku raised an eyebrow.

"Just Inuyasha?"

Glaring at him and smacking him in the chest, she began getting dressed. Feeling arms wrap around her from behind and a hand sneak down her torso she moaned softly before attempting to grab her shirt once more only to moan loudly when Miroku's fingers found what they were looking for. Struggling for a brief second against him she heard him growl and instantly stopped fighting and she felt him smile against her shoulder before biting down and making her reach behind and grab his backside pushing them closer together.

Feeling him bite down on her shoulder again she reached up and tangled her hand in his hair again before murmuring.

"You're going to leave marks on me."

He nodded against her shoulder before thrusting his fingers inside her before whispering huskily.

"That's the plan."

Feeling his fingers slid up and graze her clit he ran his nose against the column of her neck and said.

"Your so beautiful like this."

A broken moan escaped her before she replied.

"Naked?"

Swatting her backside he nodded and said.

"We should always be naked but I meant your beautiful when you free yourself. You let yourself go with me and it's beautiful."

Turning her head she kissed him before saying.

"How very sweet you are."

He didn't reply opting instead to lower his mouth to her neck and resume touching her, smirking when he felt her legs shake. Stopping completely he looked at her innocently before asking.

"Do you want it?"

Glaring at him she refused to answer until he started again and stopped once more. Nodding against him she whispered a plea and he answered right away holding her up once her legs had finally given. Panting and still glaring she said.

"Your lucky I love you."

Grinning he kissed her and whispered the same before helping her dress and they began making breakfast together. Kagome had a soft glow about her features and Miroku kept smiling over at her and brushing against her as often as he could. While they ate Kagome offered Miroku a gentle smile and he noticed one thing he had missed that he hadn't seen. She was blushing a soft pink and he noticed the blush reaching her neck and chest. Chuckling softly he made her aware and she playfully swatted him to silence him. It warmed his heart that she was still the old Kagome along with all the changes in her. He was grateful that she'd come into herself without losing herself. He hadn't wanted to lose the woman that he loved. Hearing her sigh he quirked an eyebrow before she motioned to the opening of the hut. Looking up he heard raised voices and rolled his eyes going back to his breakfast.

Kagome sighed.

"He's not going to be happy."

Miroku shrugged not speaking. Kagome bit into a slice of apple before speaking again.

"He's going to be pissed you got there first."

Sputtering Miroku began choking on his breakfast and Kagome said.

"Oh you are paying attention then?"

Glaring at her he said.

"I will be the ONLY man to get there."

Nodding her head immediately she said.

"Of course. There is no one else for me."

Pacified, he continued to talk quietly with her until the flap to the opening was ripped away and Inuyasha stormed in. They exchanged glances but no words were said until Kikyo entered and saw the contented glow on Kagome's face. Seeing the same glow on Miroku she narrowed her eyes before saying.

"Not as innocent as I thought after all are you incarnate?"

Not rising to the bait Kagome simply offered Miroku more tea and smiled as Inuyasha sat down and held his hands out and she gave him a cup as well before offering one to Kikyo. After shooting a long look at the half demon she sat next to him before clenching her arm through his and snatching the cup from Kagome soaking her hand with the scalding liquid. Still Kagome said nothing continuing to eat in silence.

As the day wore on Kagome was slowing losing patience. It was clear Inuyasha was angry and if she was honest he had looked at her with a little disgust as well. It had hurt but she hadn't cared. She loved Miroku. Surprisingly, Inuyasha had stayed his tongue. He hadn't said anything unkind or cruel and she was silently grateful. Obviously her friendship was more important than his anger. His girlfriend however was trying Kagome's every nerve and finally she had left the tent at sunset to await the horde. Miroku had followed whispering sweet things to her to calm her down. Forcing herself to relax she gave him a gentle kiss before leading the women and children to the designated safe houses and watched as they tearfully kissed there husbands goodbye fearing it would be the last time they saw them.

Kagome's heart tugged painfully in her chest and she found herself promising the children their father's would return. After promising the last child and heading to the front of the village, Miroku whispered softly.

"You can't promise that. You don't know if they will live."

She shook her head before whispering.

"They will. I'll make sure of it."

He opened his mouth to speak but closed it seeing her expression. Her eyes were tearing and she had a desperation that could be seen from a mile away. Nodding to try and make her feel better he agreed and she was grateful he had tried at least to make her feel better. Feeling Inuyasha and Kikyo stepping alongside them Kagome bit her lip hearing her speak again.

"I suppose we will do most of the work while the amatures watch? Maybe they can learn something?"

Kagome shook her head before finally snapping. Inuyasha clearly wasn't going to say anything and she was tired of that as well. They were supposed to be friends.

"Will you shut up you damn clay pot!"

A hush fell over the group and Inuyasha and Miroku's mouths had both fallen open in shock. Kikyo immediately opened her mouth to speak but Kagome shut her off before she could.

"Don't test me Kikyo. I have become stronger than you and we both know it. I know you can feel it and if that's one of the reasons you're being so cruel, I'm sorry but I don't care. Enough is enough. Go back to Inuyasha's embrace and lay off. I have had enough and we both know that I can hurt you. I don't want to out of respect for Inuyasha and I don't harbor any malice toward you. If you try to hurt me though I will defend."

Ending her speech she paused to look at the sky ignoring Inuyasha's demands that she apologize and focused her eyes onto the sky before ripping an arrow from her back and shooting faster than anyone could blink. Hearing a monsterous shriek they soon found themselves surrounded by the men of the village and hearing a loud thud that took out four trees Kagome smiled smugly before turning to Kikyo and saying.

"I'm sure us amateurs will do fine but if you want to watch amateur hour to be sure that's fine by me."

Smirking at Inuyasha as well she fired again barely glancing at the sky and they saw a pink light before seeing at least twenty demons die from her shot. Not looking at the shocked glances from the group she did answer Miroku when he asked softly.

"How did you know that?"

Her expression showed him she didn't understand and he elaborated.

"With Kikyo. I knew it. I could feel it but how did you know?"

She let out a small laugh before kissing his cheek ignoring Inuyasha's growl and she whispered.

"I'll explain later when were not being watched or heard."

He agreed and turning back to the approaching horde he heard Kagome whisper.

"Wanna see something totally awesome?"

He nodded curious and she pulled an arrow slowly from her back with her eyes closed and he saw the tip glow bright pink. The others noticed too because Kikyo instantly whispered.

"Impossible!"

Smiling to herself Kagome raised the bow slowly and precisely until she saw to many demons to count. Seeing three demons that were easily the size of a football field she aimed for them realizing she'd get what was behind them as well. Releasing quickly she heard dozens of roars and was pleased when she saw demon after demon disappear into the night and knew that she had taken out at least sixty by herself. Hearing Miroku release his wind tunnel she watched silently before waiting and finally whispering.

"I think we'd be fine alone no?"

Hearing Inuyasha growl again she said.

"Kikyo calm your puppy."

Seeing Inuyasha's hurt expression she said softly.

"It hurts to have your friends be cruel. You've been cruel and hurtful all day and if you act like a puppy then I'll say it. I've been kind to you and you've treated me horribly."

His eyes cast downward before he opened his arms. Stepping away from Kikyo and ignoring her shouts he said quietly.

"I'm sorry. It wasn't easy seeing you with him. I should have talked to her as well and I'm sorry. Our friendship is more important which is why I didn't say anything at first."

Feeling guilty herself she gave him a quick hug and apologized as well before pulling back slowly and linking hands with Miroku. Waiting silently now Kagome felt a new guilt when she saw Kikyo's hurt expression. Her anger webbed away slowly and feeling surprised at herself she apologized to her as well not surprised when she said nothing in return. Turning to Miroku once more she said.

"I miss Sango."

Seeing the demons getting closer he held his beads carefully before reminding her that they could visit her if she wished. Pointing beyond the trees once more he heard Inuyasha wonder aloud how so many demons had formed a group as they usually never did and the group could only come up with one answer. Naraku. It was the only answer that seemed to make sense but seeing the demons on the edge of the village they didn't have time to think simply springing into action. Kagome and Miroku had tried to stay together but instantly found themselves pulled apart and Kagome found herself protecting a teenager who couldn't be more than seventeen. He was scared and making foolish mistakes and surprisingly Kagome found a mothering instinct going on with her and she protected him as best she could while making sure everyone else was okay as well.

She remembered her promise to the children and threw herself in front of the men of the village many times managing to save them from the horde and as she saw there numbers dwindling at last she looked to the sky to see Kagura floating serenely on a feather watching disappointed. Shooting a warning shot and purposely missing to get her attention, she watched as she narrowed her eyes in anger and hate. Meeting her gaze head on, Kagome stared her down before firing a true shot and swearing when she managed to avoid it at the last second. Seeing her make her escape she prepared to fire again only to scream in pain when she felt something pierce her back. Feeling blood spurting from her wound she fell to the floor before feeling the pain subside as whatever pierced her was removed. Looking up she saw the teenager she had helped and smiled in thanks before wincing and standing up.

Hearing Inuyasha let out a fierce roar and seeing him look terrified she followed his gaze and saw Kikyo alone and a group of demons advancing on her. It was clear she was tired and her strength was waning. She didn't even see any soul collectors, though she knew they were there. Quickly running to her and taking a blow meant for her, she forced her behind her back seconds before she would have gotten wounded or killed. Ignoring the pain Kagome began fighting the demons off and hearing Kiyko let out a gasp quickly turned and felt teeth penetrate her skin and she threw herself over Kiyko's body to save her from getting eaten. Feeling her attempting to push her off she moved quickly killing the demon and looked down to see that her arm was bleeding heavily and her fingers were going numb.

Miroku shouted loudly as he released his wind tunnel at the rest of the demons surrounding them and as it went quiet she cocked her head hearing stillness and looked around quickly to see if it was over. It seemed it was and ignoring her own pain quickly began checking for wounded and seeing that there were a few she instantly got her backpack and began using a combination of herbs and remedies of Kaedes and for the more accepting the ones from her time. Feeling fingers ripping her shirt she tensed before recognizing Miroku's hands and went still letting him assess the damage. Hearing someone get sick behind her she laughed when she realized the teen had looked at her back and gotten sick.

Turning her attention to Miroku she asked softly.

"How bad is it?"

He sighed and said.

"I think you need what you call stitches and your arm is clearly poisoned."

Swearing softly she was reminded that none of them really knew how to do that before she looked to Kaede and reminded her that she knew how to do it as she had healed wounds before. Quickly leading her to the tent and getting supplies she saw Myoga jumping toward her and quickly began sucking on her arm. Holding as still as she could she felt her shirt being ripped more and winced when she felt a warm wet cloth being pressed against her skin. Closing her eyes she sat calmly forcing herself not to say anything and to fight the pain.

Feeling someone nuzzle her cheek she opened her eyes only to breathe out raggedly when she felt Kaede's ministrations on her back. Miroku held her hand gently and they watched silently as Myoga continued to suck before finally rolling away and she smiled when she felt her fingers move again. Thanking him she heard the flap open and Kikyo and Inuyasha entered with the teen behind them. Explaining that the wounded were resting and they'd sent the rest home to their families she nodded agreeing that it was best and it was highly unlikely that they would send more. She knew that they'd killed at least three hundred between them all and she knew that Naraku wasn't stupid enough to deplete his entire supply of minions.

Feeling a pinch and letting out a small cry she heard Kaede apologize and shook her head saying it was fine and bit her lip trying to still her cries. The last thing she wanted was to make her feel guilty. Seeing the teen edge closer to her she grinned seeing Miroku eyeing him and shook her head before asking his name.

"Toshi."

Nodding recognizing the meaning she said.

"Your a good fighter. With some tutelage you could be incredible."

Blushing under her words she felt Miroku squeeze her hand and she shook her head and asked.

"Shouldn't you be running home to your parents? I'm sure they are worried for you."

Feeling Kaede's fingers stop and seeing his downward cast eyes she knew she'd said something wrong as he said quietly.

"I'm an orphan. I stay with Kaede and Shippo. He's another orphan."

Kagome nodded remembering that they'd saved him a while back. The room was silent and Kagome apologized softly. He had accepted right away and the group fell silent again until Kikyo spoke. Her words were so quiet they could barely hear her.

"Thank you for saving me….Kagome."

And that's all for now. In the next chapter we see major decisions and some new information comes up. I hope you guys liked it!
