Caiden POV

Bathroom in Auditore Mansion

"Eck."

No wonder their sink was clogged, it has damn hairballs stuck in it. Frigging werecats. I almost gagged when I saw it in the pipe, but I soldiered on and scrapped the contents of the pip into in a toxic waste bag. I did even dare to look in the bag before sealing the bag. I then laid beneath the sink and reattached the pipe.

I felt something run up my leg and my body jerked away from it. I looked to see slender legs in tight jeans and shoeless tanned feet.

"Well ain't you jumpy."

"Of course I'm jumpy. I'm only in the house of my natural enemy, by myself."

"I'm here, though."

"That's why I'm jumpy. Can you turn the tap for me?"

I heard the tap turn on and when the water went down the drain it sprayed all over me. "Turn it off, turn it off!"

She turned it off and I jumped up from under the sink and without thinking shuck the water off of me. I was mainly wet on the upper part of my body including my hair. I heard Karissa laughing and I gave her and annoyed look, she merely swapped to an amused expression, and tossed me a towel and I tried to dry myself but I was soaked, because the water had seeped through the jumpsuit. I unzipped and freed my arms from it the jumpsuit and rubbed my head with the towel.

"I'm friggin' wet."

"So am I."

I stopped with my hands still wrapped up in the towel on my head to see her eyes lingering on my wet white tank top. I realized she is getting a good view of my body and she seemed to be liking it.

"You're what?"

She blinked and her bitch face turned back on. "I mean you did just shake most of the water on me, like a dog."

"Well at least I don't clog up drains with hairballs like a damn cat."

"What?"

"That is what was clogging up the drain."

"That doesn't make sense, we don't shed."

"Whatever."

"No hey, we don't shed. Where are these hairballs?"

"They are in the toxic waste bags."

She immediately moved towards the bags and opened them up, she dropped the bag instantly. "Those aren't hairballs –" I picked up the bag and looked in. " – those are pieces of flesh and hair."

Trent POV

Corridor of the upper level of the school

I walked down the corridor turning the handles of the rooms I passed by in hopes that one is unlocked and I can get some place. Alex walked across from me, doing the same thing, she is a good friend. Around the fifth time I grabbed a handle, the door opened. I looked at Alex and she walked in before I looked down both ends of the corridor before I headed in and closed the door behind me.

"She is such a bitch." She huffed as she sat on a desk.

"She didn't know." I defended.

"Calling someone a scab is behaviour best suited to a being a bitch. Why are you suddenly defending her, you just threatened her?" She asked.

"I didn't mean to, its just that I got angry." I argued, as I headed over to the window.

"You have a right to be angry, just like I have a right to be angry."

I looked at Alex, before looking out of the window. "I suppose you're – is that Serena?"

"What?" Alex asked, and hopped off the desk to look through the window with me.

Serena was standing very closely to a woman, I could only describe as a Bulgarian beauty. She looked like she was in her twenties and when I say close I mean arms wrapped around each other in an intimate embrace. They weren't kissing, but it looked like the woman did, and it was intense. I actually had to look away, because I felt like I was interrupting even though they couldn't see me.

"Who is she?" Alex asked, outraged.

My mind goes back to the night Serena had a nightmare. I remember trying to listen to the conversation she and Caiden had, and hearing them talk about Lilah. I asked Caiden about it, and he said she was an old flame of Serena's. He didn't say what she looked like other than looking like a bitch, but I have a strong feeling that woman is Lilah.

"I think … her name is Lilah, and she is Serena's ex."

Serena and Lilah let go of one another, and Serena took a small step back.

"What are you even doing here, how did you even know I was here?"

"I knew you were here, because it's a school day, and to answer your other question. I am here because of a nightmare you had about a week ago. It was loud enough and … deep enough to enter my own dreams. What happened to you?"

"I was in limbo and I saw … Maria."

"You what?"

"She said that loudly, even if I didn't have super hearing I would have heard that."

"Why do you think she asked her that?"

"Serena probably told her she has fallen in love with you and Lilah was is like whaaaaat, that ugl –"

Alex punched me swiftly in the gut. I was left hunched over in pain. "Worth … it."

"I'd heard of places that could enter limbo, but never a room. No wonder you had nightmares." Lilah slowly reached out towards Serena's shoulder, so if she didn't want her to touch the mark, she could stop her, but Serena didn't.

"In the dream, I was standing right next to you watching it happen. I'm so sorry." She said, quietly.

"I thought I felt you, but I wasn't sure." Serena revealed.

Lilah cupped Serena's neck, lovingly. "I will always be with you, the scar on my shoulder made sure of that." She murmured.

"You're in trouble aren't you?"

Lilah stepped away from her and sat on the hood of Serena's car. "Why would you think that?"

"Because you're always in trouble, Li, that's how we met."

She smirked at Serena, knowing the jig was up. "Fair enough, lovely. There is a man who wants to tie his wagon to mine, but obviously I said no, so …"

"You need somewhere safe to stay."

"For a bit …"

Serena chuckled and stuffed her hands in her pockets, while she kicked the snow with the heel of her boot. Lilah hasn't changed and Serena loved that, but Lilah was a lover of thrills, she lived on the edge and Serena knew Lilah could look after herself, but if she needed help, than this man she is running from must be trouble.

"What's his name?"

She waited a beat. "Deacon Wallis."

"That's a stupid name."

"Aw you're jealous."

"It's a terrible name; try to tell me it isn't."

The school bell rings interrupting their conversation and signalling the end of recess. Serena looked from the school to Lilah, contemplating whether or not to skip school.

"I can wait."

Serena looked at Lilah mildly surprised, since Lilah usually tried to convince Serena to skip school to spend time with her, maybe she has changed a little.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, just unlock your car so I don't freeze to death."

Serena's phone buzzed in her pocket, she pulled it out to see a text from Caiden.

2877 Holloway Rd. You need to get here stat, its Shifter related business. I think.

She put her phone away and grabbed her keys, as she headed towards the driver seat.

"Get in."

"What's happened?"

"I'll tell you on the –."

"Hey!"

The both of them looked up towards the second storey window Alex and Trent shouted from. Lilah was confused, while Serena was annoyed, at the two of them hindering her, but for Serena her annoyance upgraded to anger, when Alex jumped out of the window and landed on her feet in the snow.

"You can't go doing that in broad daylight, Alex!"

"I thought it was the quickest way down. Who is she?"

"She is Lilah."

"Ha! – told you." Trent chirped from above, with a grin until Serena gave him a dark look.

"Wherever you are going I am coming with." Alex said, firmly with her hands on her hips, expecting some resistance from Serena.

"Fine get in the car."

"Oh really."

"Yes, now get in the car, we have to move quick."

"Hold-up, give me a minute or two get down the stairs. I don't want face your wrath for jumping out the window too." Trent called, before darting out of view.

Serena growled in frustration, before unlocking the car and pushing forward her seat for Alex to get in the back. Lilah slipped into the front seat, just as Trent came running out of the school doors, with a grin. He dived into the back with Alex, and Serena put her seat back down and got in. She was very agitated with everyone coming along with her, but she figured she might need help and maybe she wouldn't be so annoyed.

"Can we stop for food while on the way to wherever you are taking us? I didn't get to have my lunch and that run got me hunger."

Serena buried her face in the palm of her hand, and sighed. It would seem she was wrong about not being annoyed. Lilah grabbed her free hand and sent her magi, through her hands to relax Serena; she didn't want her ripping off the steering wheel while they were driving.

Trent and Alex's views on the scene were mixed. Alex was slightly green-eyed; while Trent was sure he was twenty eight percent turned on, which he found weird, because the two of them were only holding hands. What the both of them agreed on, were that they were both wondering what on earth Lilah was.
