Thank you Hannahneko, Fuertospedos10, and SoraAraii for reviewing!
So I've completely overhauled this story and corrected a lot of errors with plots and grammar/spelling. Also I didn't realize that I changed Tobi to Madara instead of Obito like he is early on in the story. Forgive me! Tobi is Obito, not Madara and I went back and fixed that.
Sorry I'm so late! *cries hysterically*.
Sakura paced the whole night, her nerves frazzled from what could have happened. She still hadn't felt neither Sasuke's nor Itachi's chakra in hours. She was really starting to think that they had killed each other. The distraught female wrung her hands together while she paced, her right hip aching from turning the same direction each time. She bit her bottom lip and glanced at the door to her room. What could have happened?
That was it, Sakura couldn't handle not knowing what was going on anymore. She would go out there and see what happened. She could still hear the rain beating against the hideout and Sakura had long since thrown off the Akatsuki robe, so she would be a little chilly. Still, she'd rather that than being out in public with that robe on. She didn't agree with their direction on achieving peace, so she wouldn't be seen as one of them.
Exiting her room, Sakura noticed that the hideout was still pretty quiet. She probably should have gone to Pein first, but the young girl was too anxious. She would just ask one of the members to take her into town. Feeling around the base, Sakura realized that all of them were gone…except Hidan. Sakura felt dread welling up inside her. He was the last person she wanted to ask for help. She'd rather as Kakuzu than that immortal maniac! Luckily, he hadn't been messing with her too much lately because of how they had been on missions and sealing the Four Tails, but the pinkette knew he wouldn't hesitate to try and get under her skin by touching her inappropriately or saying something disgusting.
Sakura took in a deep breath and moved to the entertainment room. If he was watching porn again, she would strangle him. Soft noise from the television could be heard and as she grew closer, it increase in volume. Her eyebrows furrowed. What in the world was he watching? It didn't sound like an adult show and she thought that's all he would watch. Curiosity got to her and she lowered her chakra, hopefully in time that he hadn't noticed her yet. Green orbs peeked around the corner into the room and her eyes widened in shock.
He was watching a cartoon…but it had talking ponies in it. It looked extremely cutesy and like it was for children.
"Fluttershy stop playing around!" he yelled when a tan horse with a pink mane and tail. "You can do this!"
Sakura placed her hand over her mouth to try and stifle her chuckling. It was of no use. She burst into a fit of laughter, doubling over and clenching her stomach. Hidan jumped as if a fire had been lit underneath his ass and attempted to use the remote, but his fumbling caused him to drop it onto the floor. It clattered loudly with shame. He whirled around to see Sakura still laughing at him and frowned.
"What the hell are you laughing at?!" he bellowed.
"You know exactly what I'm laughing at," Sakura answered through fits of giggles. "Who knew the mass murdering immortal Akatsuki member likes ponies!"
"So what?! It's a good show!"
"It's for kids!"
"Tch," Hidan mumbled. "Shut up."
When Sakura was able to catch her breath, she walked closer to Hidan. His amethyst eyes stayed locked on her as she moved forward.
"I need a favor," Sakura said, placing her hands on her hips.
"Why would I do you a favor?" Hidan snapped.
"Because if you don't, I'll tell Kisame and Deidara what I just saw you watching." Sakura felt amusement tickle her when his eyes widened in horror. "They'll lose all respect for you. You'll be the laughing stock of the house."
Hidan only stared at her for a few moments, no snappy or lewd come back. He was stuck. That little brat had hidden her chakra so he didn't sense her coming. Normally he would change it before someone actually saw him watching My Little Pony. Damn it, he liked the show even if it was full of rainbow colored ponies and sappy cliché friendships, something he didn't care for in real life. He had never gotten a real childhood, so maybe that was why he enjoyed the show. Still, he couldn't have those two douche bags knowing that he watched something so girly. He'd never hear the end of it.
Rubbing his hand over his gelled silver hair, the immortal man exhaled deeply. "What do you want, you black mailing little shit?"
Sakura smiled sweetly at him. "I want you to take me into town."
"So you want to know what happened between those Uchiha fucks huh?" he taunted. "I knew you had a serious case of Stockholm syndrome! How pathetic."
Sakura sucked in her cheeks and began gathering chakra into her fists. "Don't mess with me right now Hidan. I will remove your head from your body and stick it in the oven!"
Hidan shrugged his shoulders indifferently. His gaze ran up her pale toned legs. "You're going in that?"
"Yeah so?"
"It's fucking raining outside, or did you not notice?"
Sakura growled irritably. "I know it's raining! But I'm not putting back on that damn robe!"
"Well fuck, if you get sick, it's your own damn fault," Hidan muttered.
He reached for his own robe that had been precariously tossed over the back of the beat up tanned couch he had been watching his guilty pleasure on. Slipping it on silently, Hidan walked over to a wooden table where a kasa hat had been sitting. He handed it to her.
"At least wear this so I don't feel guilty if your ass gets some new strand of the flu."
That was actually pretty thoughtful of him. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
"So have you and that Uchiha dude fucked yet?"
And he ruined it. Sakura grasped him by the front of his robe and began dragging him out the door. It was all she could do not to punch him as hard as she could in the throat. He yelled his obscenities as she did so, but she ignored him, her heart racing at the thought of finding out what was going on. She reached the door and let go of Hidan. He glared at her before straightening out his robe.
"Do you have to manhandle me all the time?!"
"You make me manhandle you," Sakura answered. "Learn how to control your mouth and hands then I won't have to!"
Hidan muttered underneath his breath. He held his ring up to the looming black door in front of them and it slid up silently. He hadn't mentioned anything about getting in trouble, but then again, Sakura doubted that Hidan cared. What honestly could anyone do to him? He was immortal after all and unlike most immortals, he didn't die when you cut off his head. The two of them walked out underneath the overhang. Sakura was surprised to see Obito leaning against the wall thoughtfully, one leg propped up behind him.
"The fuck you doing out here?" Hidan questioned.
"Tobi is thinking," he said seriously. Suddenly he stood up and began bouncing from foot to foot. "Sakura-chan looks like she is about to go somewhere! Can I go?"
"No, you annoying fuck," Hidan growled, taking a step towards Tobi and making him jump back.
"Hidan-san probably doesn't even want to go," Tobi whined. "Sakura-chan would rather Tobi go with her than you!"
Hidan looked at Sakura for approval. He clearly didn't want to go out into the rain. It always messed up his hair and now that he didn't have a kasa to block the rain, he really didn't want to go. His hair looked ridiculous if it wasn't gelled down.
"Okay, you're off the hook Hidan."
He smiled for a moment, but it vanished when Sakura said, "I'll just have to use that secret against you another time."
"Oh come on!"
Soon Hidan had grudgingly went back inside and Obito stopped his Tobi act. "Sakura, you must give them to figure things out on their own."
"I just want to know if they're alive," she responded, wringing her hands together again. "I want to see Itachi."
"You will have to wait," was his response. "They are both alive and the two of them have a lot of catching up to do."
Sakura cocked her head to one side in confusion. "What does that mean?"
Obito vanished into a strange spiraled vortex and was gone. Did that mean that the two of them had been able to come to terms with what happened without killing each other? Sakura felt herself growing giddy at the thought of it. She hoped that was the case was. Now she was even more anxious than before. Maybe she should go cook a meal for when Itachi got back. That would keep her busy for at least the next two hours. For at least the next few minutes, Sakura was going to just sit underneath the overhang and watch the rain. It left a grey blanket over the entire city. The pitter patter of rain hitting the hideout was almost like a melody and it slowly began to relax her racing heart.
The pinkette sat down on the concrete, pulling her legs to her chest and crossing them. She wrapped her slim arms around her knees, shuddering a bit as she began to feel a little chilly. Goosebumps rose on her skin, but Sakura didn't budge. She turned emerald eyes to the forestry close by, her breath catching in her throat at the beautiful fork of lightning over them. She leaned her back against the rough bricks of the hideout and turned her gaze skywards. The conversation she had with Kisame filtered back into her mind. Where did she stand now? She wanted peace as well, but she didn't think that Pein's plan was foolproof. If they had a better mindset and heart as well, maybe this plan of his would work; however, his heart was corrupted by all the deaths of loved ones he had seen.
Then there was the other Akatsuki members. She didn't know why they had joined, but she was sure they weren't for noble reasons. What would people like Hidan think if the Akatsuki, once they had full power, do if they became the good guys? If she had to guess, she'd say he would up and leave. Then they would have to find more members and who knew if they really were interested in the cause or just wanted to get on the inside in order to bring down the organization.
Sakura inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. She didn't really have a solution to bring to them in order to possibly persuade them to take a different route. All she knew was that she would never wear that robe again. She couldn't…
Naruto paced the Hokage's office, not believing his ears. Sasuke and Sakura had been spotted, but Sakura was with Itachi and had been seen wearing an Akatsuki robe. He couldn't believe it, but the sketch the ANBU had taken was definitely her. How could she do this? Was she a traitor to the village now? Did she follow their cause? Was she now friends with Itachi, of all people? Naruto didn't know what to think. His mind had gone numb at this news, mainly because he knew what was to come. If they encountered her, she would be attacked and brought back to the village. If she resisted, she would most likely be added to the Bingo Book to be killed.
The blonde stopped and crossed his arms over his chest, distraught look on his face. "Sakura why?"
"Maybe she has a good explanation," Hinata offered. "She could be pretending to be in the Akatsuki in order to gather information."
"Yeah!" Naruto agreed, a bright smile breaking over his face. "Maybe that's what she's doing and right now she doesn't have a way to get info to us without them knowing. That totally sounds like something Sakura would do!"
Tsunade's expression did not brighten any. Her powerful gaze shifted to Kakashi, whose expression hadn't changed either. It was a logical reason, but honestly Tsunade doubted it. She was old enough and had seen enough to not be optimistic in a situation like this. Her fingers remained linked through each other.
"You are dismissed," she responded without acknowledging what they had said. "Except Sai and Kakashi. Stay back."
Naruto clenched his fists together. "Hey, I want to hear what you're going to tell them!"
"Out!" The Hokage bellowed, standing up and slamming her fists on the desk, breaking it in half like it was a tooth pick. Documents went flying in every direction.
Hinata quickly grasps Naruto's arm and pulled him out of Tsunade's office. The older woman looked at the mess. "Great, I'll need another desk."
She sat back down into her chair with a huff. "I wanted you two to stay so I can get your opinions on this matter. Naruto is blinded by how much he cares for Sakura and doesn't not have a rational mind."
"I believe Sakura is not a part of the Akatsuki," Sai began. "However, I do believe she has changed her views on them if she was seen walking side by side with Itachi Uchiha, laughing and having conversation. She no longer sees them the same as she did before she was kidnapped."
"I agree." The copy ninja crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't know why Sakura is wearing an Akatsuki robe, we'll have to ask her, but I do not think she has betrayed her village."
"It's a betrayal in itself for her to be wearing it in the first place, "the Hokage countered. "She knows what those robes stand for and yet she was wearing it anyway."
"We will just have to question her once she is back in the village," Sai continued, expressionless look on his face. "We cannot go retrieve her. All of the Akatsuki are there so we would need all of our strongest shinobi including our new Jinchuriki allies and we would be playing right into their hands. We'll just have to wait and watch."
Tsunade nodded her head. She would not risk the lives of many strong shinobi for Sakura. It just wasn't practical. She grudgingly was also starting to understand that the Elders had been right. The Jinchuriki returning to the Leaf village was a bad idea. There were rumors going around that the other nations would be plotting something soon. In fact, she had gotten a scroll demanding she be at a meeting between the Kages next week. That was not a good sign. The power was starting to shift to the Fire Nation and ruin the balance. The last thing they wanted was to be fighting against the Akatsuki and the other nations. That would be impossible, but hopefully she could persuade the other Kages to work with them in order to stop the Akatsuki's plans.
She dismissed the two ninjas in front of her and turned in her chair to look out the window. Bright light filtered through the window and the Sannin moved her chair to be in that light, enjoying the warmth that spread over her skin. She breathed deeply, closing her eyes. She was tired, so tired, but she had village and a potential war to worry about.
"Rough day huh?"
She turned to see her childhood friend standing in the doorway. His long, spiky white hair was nearly touching the floor. That same goofy grin was plastered on his aging face. She turned to face him as he walked further into the room. Her desk had been split down the middle so luckily her sake bottle hadn't been broken. Jiraiya moved to where he knew she hid her alcohol and pulled the bottle from the demolished desk. He opened it and took a swig before handing it to her. She gratefully accepted it and took two large gulps of it before placing it in her lap.
"You'll come with me to this Kage meeting right?" Tsunade asked.
"Of course," Jiraiya answered, moving to stand behind her.
His large hands laid against her tense shoulders and he began to rub them gently. Tsunade once again closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of his skilled hands. She could feel the knots in her shoulders loosening as he used his thumbs for pressure into those tight spots. Despite him being the biggest pervert she had ever met, Jiraiya was a great friend and the person she was the closest to in this world. She loved him dearly and treasured the friendship they had.
After cracking her neck for her, Tsunade stood and tilted her head from side to side, stretching her neck. "Alright, time to hit the slots."
Sakura just about had dinner finished. She had roasted some duck, had kimchi that had been in Zetsu's garden to ferment since it was always raining outside, white rice, lettuce leaves, and a few other things for them to eat. It was very Korean style, something Sakura had always enjoyed. Luckily they also had some honey mustard sauce to go with the duck. She had baked three of them with how many mouths she would be feeding. The smells wafting throughout the house was making her mouth water. Duck one of her favorite types of bird. They were absolutely delicious although a little greasy.
Washing her hands after turning down the oven to keep the birds warm, Sakura dried them and began gathering plates to lie out on the island counter. She even had some homemade peach sweet tea to go with their meals. Of course Kisame, Hidan, and probably Deidara would prefer some sake instead. They had plenty of that too.
Soon the cattle came calling. Deidara and Kisame both waltz into the kitchen at the same time.
"Looks good brat," Deidara said while walking over to peek in the oven. "What's the occasion, hmm?"
"Shut up Blondie," Sakura responded pushing him in the chest slightly before tugging on his long hair. "I just felt like cooking. You don't have to eat it if you don't want to."
His single blue orb widened. Sakura guessed he was indeed hungry and that's what got her such an expression. She laughed before moving over to Kisame. "Hungry?"
"Yes ma'am," he responded, running his fingers through his navy blue spikes. "We'll have to make you the Akatsuki chef too! You sure you don't want to join us?"
"I'm sure," Sakura answered even though she still had that nagging feeling in the back of her mind. "Help yourself."
Next came Hidan. He moved over to Deidara, who was taking the first bird out of the oven. "What the fuck is that? Where are the ribs or steaks?"
"Never had duck before?" Sakura questioned.
"No, and I don't want to," he pouted, crossing his arms over his chest, turning his nose up at her.
"Then don't eat!" Sakura yelled. "You're so damn childish! You can't say you don't like it if you've never had it dummy!"
Hidan stomped towards her. "Stop being so rude! You can't make me eat it!"
"Oh yeah?" Sakura challenged. She pulled Hidan by the front of his red and black robe, yanking him down to her level. She lowered her voice menacingly. "Do I need to tell them what I saw this afternoon?"
Hidan's skin turned as white as a sheet of paper. "Alright! I'll give it a try."
Everyone's plates were fixed. Kakuzu and Konan and come in and grabbed food to go. Sakura had also fixed Tobi…well Obito and Itachi a plate. She had so many questions to ask Obito, but it seemed like he didn't want anyone else other than the other Uchiha, herself, and Pein to know who he really was. For now, she would continue playing like he was Tobi, but it was hard when she knew he wasn't who he appeared to be.
Sakura suddenly felt Itachi's and Sasuke's chakra. They were both entering the hideout. The others also turned and looked towards the kitchen entryway. Sakura's heart began beating a mile a minute at the thought of seeing Itachi. He was okay. Neither of them had died. It was such a relief to her, but what now? What exactly had happened between the two of them?
"Sakura," Itachi called from the hallway.
"I'm in here," she called, her voice wavering a bit.
The few seconds it took for him to get to the doorway felt like hours. The medic didn't know what to do with her hands. First they linked together in front of her, then she crossed her arms before finally releasing them to run her fingers through her bubblegum colored locks. His footsteps were getting louder by the moment, and soon he emerged. His Akatsuki robe was torn and she could see gashes and cuts lining his body, but he was alive. His breaths were slowly and even despite his injuries.
Sakura's face lit up like a Christmas tree. She closed the distance between them. She had to stop herself from throwing her arms around his shoulders. She doubted that Itachi wanted their relationship public. Everyone in the hideout knew that Sakura cared about Itachi, but they didn't know that he returned those feelings. She wasn't sure if he was ready to be open about it and it was still new. Just using the word relationship was a little awkward for Sakura.
"Let me heal these injuries and you can get a bite to eat," she said calmly while moving her right hand to an open wound on his left side.
She was surprised when he grasped her hand and pulled her flush against his body. "Is that how you greet me?" he questioned. "You do not sound happy to see me."
"I am," she breathed. "You have no idea how happy I am that you're okay."
Sakura placed her head against his chest, unable to fight the urge to be close to him. His hand that had hers released and snaked around her waist. She felt pressure on the top of her head, and she knew that was his chin resting on top.
"Whoa ho ho!" Kisame bellowed. "Who would have thought you could break into that ice box of a heart!"
Deidara crossed his arms over his chest. "You really did go for a guy like him."
Sakura turned and smiled at the Explosionist. "Yeah, I guess I did."
"Tch," was his simple response, but Sakura secretly wondered if that was a look of jealousy on his face.
"I really don't have a fucking clue of what to say," Hidan spoke after finishing the slice of duck he was eating.
"You can say that you do in fact like duck," Sakura suggested.
Instead of saying something smart back, the Jashinist gave her a half smile. "Yeah whatever. It's alright."
Sakura moved from Itachi and held her hands out to his side. They began to glow and do what she was best at: healing. At that moment she remembered that she had felt Sasuke's presence as well. She paused for a moment and looked up at Itachi.
"What happened to Sasuke?"
"I'm right here."
She looked around Itachi to see Sasuke leaning against the door frame, hand resting on his katana. He also was banged up. His left arm looked like it may be broken and he had multiple lacerations that were exposed through his torn clothes on his abdomen. She'd have to heal him too, but not before Itachi.
"Why don't you get something to eat?" she questioned, turning her attention back to another wound she was now healing that had been ripped into Itachi's chest.
Sasuke frowned. "Who knew you were the house keeper for the Akatsuki. What does the village think of this?"
Sakura grit her teeth. "Don't start with me right now."
Sasuke shrugged before moving to the sink to wash his hands. Things were still like a dream based on what had just occurred. Everything had been turned on its head, but now Sasuke would see what his brother wanted to do from here. He now understood that his brother was a dedicated ninja. He wouldn't want the Akatsuki to completely fulfill their plans, so what now?
Please review! I don't know anything about My Little Pony so forgive me if I messed something up. I just googled names and picked one lol.
