Hey, Everyone.
So...this chapter is short...and that might not be the best thing for you guys to hear right now, but I have a concussion, and staring at my computer screen for too long gives me a headache. It is currently giving me a headache, honestly. So my chapters until I completely recover will be either brief and less thought out, but following my schedule, or longer and more developed, but probably only once a week.
Anyway, enjoy.
Chapter 21
Annabeth
Annabeth walked over to Thalia, one of her oldest friends, and knelt beside her. Because, for once, Jason was up and around being helpful.
"Hey, Thalia," Annabeth said, smiling.
Thalia grinned. "Hey, Annabeth. It's been a little while."
"Yeah. Artemis has been kidnapped again, huh?" Annabeth sat back, propping herself up with her hands. "Does she ever catch a break?"
"I know, right?" Thalia replied, and they laughed. "I heard from Percy that you two went through Tartarus. Nico was the last one to do that."
"I honestly don't know how he did it," Annabeth said. "The only reason why we got through was because we had each other. He was all alone."
"He's a very admirable boy. Where is he? Last I heard he was traveling with you?"
"He's going on his own quest with Reyna. They got their own prophecy."
"Oh, really? My cousin's growing up." She said wistfully.
Annabeth shook her head. "You have no idea." She shot Thalia a sideways glance. "So…what happened?"
"Gods, it was awful," Thalia shook her head. "She was torn right from our grasp. We were traveling to get her back to Olympus. And we were ambushed here. And we just…couldn't protect her. We just…couldn't get all of them away. And then they overpowered us, took her, and left us bloodied and broken on the battle field."
Annabeth cast her eyes away, staring at her shoes. "I'm so sorry. We'll get her back."
"No, it's more than that," Thalia whispered, and Annabeth looked back at her.
"When in Epirus, we learned of something very disturbing."
"Don't leave me hanging, Thalia."
Thalia gave Annabeth a dark and ominous look. "Gaea has a second army forming."
The ice that filled Annabeth's veins had her rooted to the spot in fear. "What?"
"She has one gathering in Athens to protect her from your onslaught, but she also has one gathering in Pennsylvania to siege Olympus. We were going to warn them, but…this happened."
"What are we supposed to do?"
"Someone needs to warn the Olympians. They don't know, and if they don't know they won't be ready and it won't matter if Gaea is stopped from rising or not. Olympus will fall and everything we fought for will be gone."
"We can't split ourselves up," Annabeth debated. "We need all of us if we're going to take down Gaea."
"Didn't you hear me? It won't matter!"
"We need to stop both of them. Gaea is still more important," Annabeth snapped. "The Seven of us need to be here. We don't have the time to sail all the way back to New York, anyway. We need someone who's already on the East Coast."
The idea smacked her in the head like a punch in the face. She glanced at Thalia. "Nico."
"You think?"
"Yes! He's already there, he's been through Tartarus, he has Reyna…they could do this. He's extremely powerful, you should really see him," Annabeth said. "He could definitely do this."
"If you trust him," Thalia said. "It's a big task."
"He's capable of it." Annabeth took and found Frank a jog away. "Frank! I need a gold drachma."
"Why?" Frank asked, confused.
"I need to get in touch with Nico," Annabeth said breathlessly.
"Okay, here," Frank said, pulling one out of his pocket. He handed it to her.
She shot him a strange look. "Why are you holding onto them?"
He pulled ten more out of his pocket. "A couple of the girls have been begging to get in touch with people, so I've been carrying a few around."
Annabeth shrugged, and ran off to make a rainbow.
So, yes, like I said, very short. I threw this together today to try my best to please you guys. And thanks so much for 360+ reviews!
