A/N: As I promised, here is the next chapter.
Huh?
Max
was unable to speak for a moment but eventually she regained partial
control of her voice.
"Huh?" she asked, shocked.
Nudge and Iggy started explaining about the phone call from Ella and Max quizzed them.
The phone rang from inside, and Max ran in and grabbed it, followed by Nudge.
"So a night time spin, huh?" asked Iggy, trying to see the bright side of things.
I would have smirked if it wasn't for the current situation.
"Uh huh," I said, "It was pretty good."
Iggy grinned openly as we walked in, "Great way to end a good night, eh," he said sarcastically.
Max signalled for us to turn off the lights, and we did as we were asked. I talked to Iggy as I did it, and it was good having someone my own age to talk about it with.
I heard Max talking to someone on the phone, and I came down to listen to it. Our sensitive hearing could hear both sides of the conversation and I gathered that the CSM were being blackmailed into stopping putting pressure on big companies. Other than that, it seemed they knew little more than us. And we were apparently meant to sit here and twiddle our thumbs for a few hours before Max went charging off.
"I do not go charging off," protested Max.
"Yes you do," retorted everyone else in the room.
"Your middle name is charging off," said Total, and Max looked as if she would happily have ripped the rest of his tail off. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration but she was pretty pissed.
I decided to check outside to make sure the lights earlier hadn't attracted unwanted attention.
I nearly got a heart attack as I peeked through the curtain.
The house was surrounded. There were about eighty ninjas all around the house, pointing guns at us. This is exactly why Max's no gun rule is stupid, without guns, how could we possibly defend against eighty armed robots. The only chance we had was one of Gazzy ir Iggy's bombs, but I doubt even one of those could take out a ring of guards without destroying us in the process. We really needed guns.
Then I got another minor heart attack as I saw their leader.
Ari.
On closer inspection, he wasn't exactly like Ari, but he didn't seem like a robot either, he was oddly, human, but with robotic movements as he talked to the other troops.
I turned back to Max as she hung up.
I kept my voice even. "In other news the house is surrounded," I said.
And unless we get a miracle, then we were powerless.
A/N: There we go, that's my two chapters for the day. Now I just have to do one and a half hours of homework. And it's 7 o'clock.
