Eating with the children was great. Not only was I getting food in my stomach, but the kids and I were having the first moment of relaxation in hours. I watched as Lex at healthy food while Tim ate sweets. I had to side on Tim with this one. Normally I would eat food that would seem bet for me, but I had to satisfy my sweet tooth.

The three of us smiled as we ate. Tim and I stopped and watched in confusion as Lex's eyes widened and she began shaking. We turned around to see the shadow of a dinosaur moving along the wall behind us. I quickly grabbed the kids and limped toward the kitchen trying to find a place to hide.

"Oh god", I whispered. "Alan, please come back."

I looked over the counter the kids and I were hiding behind to see the door handle begin to turn. I gasped and pulled back behind the counter.

"Timmy, what is it?" Lex asked.

"It's a velociraptor", he whispered.

"It's inside..."

I gasped as tears came to my eyes. I was trying my best not to lose my composure in front of the kids. They needed me to protect them. But at the same time, I couldn't help but remember Alan's lecture about the raptors. If they caught us, there would be no mercy. We were going to die slowly and painfully.

We heard the footsteps in the kitchen as two raptors came inside. The dinosaurs purred and roared, making us shake in fear. Even worse was their six-inch claws tapping on the floor, reminding me again of Alan's lecture.

"Follow me", I whispered.

We crawled behind the counters, trying to get further away from the raptors. My plan was to lead them in a circle so by the time we reached the door, they'd be on the other side of the kitchen, and we would lock them in there.

I stopped as the raptor knocked metal dishes off the counter. Those things really were smart. They were testing to see if they would hit anything other than the floor. They knew where we were. We crawled faster to the other counter as the raptor stuck its head to the area we were moments before and sniffed the floor for our scent. Tear fell from my eyes as I began to get more scared. My plan was not going to work with creatures as smart as these.

Lex and I gasped as a metal ladle dropped where Tim was hiding. It fell to the floor, alerting the raptors where Tim was. We crawled away as the raptors started walking in our direction. Tim froze in fear, unable to move any further. Lex grabbed a metal spoon and tapped it, luring the raptors away from Tim. I watched as she climbed into a cabinet, right in front of the raptor in plain view! As if things couldn't get any worse, the cabinet door was stuck, leaving her completely helpless.

Lex screamed as the raptor came in her direction.

"Lex!" I screamed.

To my and the raptors' surpise, it was just her refection on the metal surface. Lex got out of the cabinet and crawled away. The other raptor saw me as I screamed for Lex. I noticed one of those large ovens used to bake bread that was on and open. I limped toward the oven with the raptor behind me. It was catching up quick. The door for the freezer was open and the ice inside was obviously melting because I ended up slipping on the water on the floor, falling and sliding toward the oven. The raptor wasn't able to stop in time and ended up falling inside the oven. I quickly got up and shut the oven door, leaving it to burn alive inside.

Tim watched me and got the same idea, locking the other raptor in the freezer. I grabbed the children's hands and we ran out of the kitchen.
