Chapter 21

As he awoke the first morning it took a bit for him to remember where he was. Only upon sitting up did he remember exactly where he was.

"Oh, yeah, I'm at Hogwarts." As he looks over to the window he notices that the sun is just beginning to rise. With a small smile he gets up and gets his things for the shower. He was happy to see that there was a shower in each dorm. He would really only have to share with Terry so for him that was fine.

About 30 minutes later he is showered, changed and ready for the day. He could not help but feel a bit nervous as he walks down to the great hall. As he walks around he realizes he is going the wrong way and honestly has no idea where he is. He looks over to find Dudley walking up to him.

"Morning Harry, are you on your way to the great hall too?" He asks with a smile. He could see the lost look on Harry's face. Though for now, he didn't dare mention it.

"Yes, but I don't seem to be doing a very good job at the moment." He sighs a little and looks around.

"Well, come on then, we can go together." He smiles to him and starts to walk with him. "Did you sleep alright?" He asks as he looks down to his cousin. He was a bit taller than Harry but he knew it wouldn't stay that way.

"Yes, I didn't have any nightmares so that was a plus." He knew that Dudley finally found out about all the nightmares as his Aunt Petunia started to worry once he went to Hogwarts. He would need to write her and tell her that he and Dudley were not in the same house.

"Well, that is good to hear. I was hoping you would. If you do have nightmares Harry tell me." He looks to him. He did worry about Harry, and knowing what all his mom told him about how people will react to him being here, it only made him even more protective of his cousin.

He nods a little as he looks at him. "I will, but I just wonder how will I tell you unless its in the morning?"

"Hmm, I suppose we could talk to professors McGonagall about it and Flitwick about it?" He looks to him. "I know you don't want them to know Harry. Its just if they know maybe they can help somehow." He stops and places both hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to go through anything alone you know. "

"I know, I guess I just don't like having to ask for help sometimes." He shrugs a little and looks at Dudley as they start walking again. "Do you think they would talk to us after breakfast?" He wasn't sure what time their first classes were.

He nods a little at that. "I don't see why they wouldn't. We can both go up after and talk to them about it. Just wait for me if you finish first." They walk in at that time and he looks to Harry to wait for his reply.

"Ok, I will." He smiles lightly and walks off to the Ravenclaw table where he sees Hermione already sitting there. Her book propped up on the milk jug as she reads it and eats at the same time. He smiles a little and shakes his head. He had never been able to understand how she did that. He loved to read but reading while he is eating is one thing he has never been able to do.

It didn't take long for both Harry and Dudley to finish. As he looks over to the Gryffindor table he sees Dudley look his way with a nod. He gets up and walks over to him. "Can we go talk to them now?" he asks softly, he was nervous to talk to them about this but knew that he needed to.

"Yes, let's go." He gets up and walks with him to the head table. "Professor, I was wondering if it would be possible for me and Harry to speak to you and Professor flitwick before classes start?" he asks politely as they both wait for her reply.

She was shocked to say the least as it was only the first morning. She looks up to Dudley "Yes Mr. Dursley that would be just fine. Hang on a moment and I will get professor Flitwick for you. Then we may return to my office to talk." She walks over and whispers a hurried conversation with flitwick who rises from his seat and walks with them to McGonagall's office. As they walk in she shuts the door and looks to both of them.

"Now, what seems to be the problem boys?" she asks as she motions for them both to sit down.

He takes a seat and looks to his head of house. "Well, Professor, Harry, he has nightmares quite often and well…" he pauses for a moment and looks at him.

"I have actually screamed so loud at times that I have woken up the whole house. I would hate to wake up everyone in my dorm by screaming." He said this softly.

She nods a little, looking to both boys. "I understand Mr. Potter."

Flitwick looks to both of them. "Mr. Potter, you don't have to tell me but, may I ask what your nightmares were about?"

"Its ok sir, you may ask." He gets quiet for second then smiles lightly when Dudley squeezes his hand for encouragement. "The nightmares are about the night my parents died." He said this softly with a sad look on his face when he said this. "I get them quite often."

McGonagall takes in a deep breath when he says this and looks to Flitwick before saying anything. She looks to Harry and says in a soft voice. "Mr. Potter, I am sorry you have such dreams. No one should have to relive that all the time in their dreams." She was trying not to cry as she had always been very fond of James and Lily. She could tell Flitwick was also barley holding in his tears.

"Mr. Potter, when you would have the dreams at your aunt's house, May I ask what she would do? Is there anything that could help you?" He asks after a minute of collecting his emotions. He was willing do whatever he could to help him with this. Lily Potter, or Evans as it was known then always was one of his favorite students.

"Well…sometimes she would just sit in the room with me, trying to comfort me. She would tell me stories of them sometimes while we sat in the living room or something and drank hot chocolate." He sighs and looks down, quiet for a moment. "There really isn't anything that has helped me stop having them." He looks up to them and sniffles a little. He hated this he always felt like such a baby when he would have these nightmares. Then again, he knew that at times they could be pretty scary.

After a moment of silence Dudley says softly to the teachers. "Is there anything that you can do? I mean, I know if we were in the same house I could comfort him but…" He looks over to Harry and puts his arm around him.

"Mr. Dursley, we will discuss this after classes today and see what it is that we can do that may help your cousin." McGonagall says with a smile. She could tell he really cared for Harry and she was glad that he seemed to have changed from the little boy she saw that first day when she had been watching the family in her Animagus form. She was doubtful at first when she saw his name on the list of students. Though seeing him with Harry she knew that something had to have changed and for that she was glad.

"Now, I think its time for you two boys to get to your first class." Flitwick says with a smile as he rises from his seat.

"Mr. Potter, if there is ever anything you need to talk about don't' hesitate to come talk to me. I know I am not your head of house but your parents were great friends of mine once they graduated Hogwarts."

"Thank you Ma'am I will remember that." He looks to Dudley, and then they walk out of the office to head to their first class. "What do you have first?"

Dudley looks over to him then down to the Schedule he just pulled out. "Potions, with the Slytherins. What about you?"

"Herbology, with Hufflepuff." He smiles at that. "Maybe I can talk to Neville some more!" he looks to him. "Will you still talk to Ron if you get the chance? I really don't want our houses to keep us from being friends."

He looks to his cousin and smiles lightly and nods. "Yes, of course I will. I am sure he will still talk to us. Who knows we may even meet a few more people from each house since we all got sorted in different ones." He walks with him to the green house. "Good luck on your first class Harry, I should get to potions before Professor Snape has a reason to give me detention on the first day." He walks off after that and heads to the dungeons.

Looking around he had to admit he was nervous, though he knew that everything would be okay, he just hoped that he would do well in this class. He had always loved gardening at his Aunt's house. Though, thinking of it he wasn't too sure if this would be the same or not really. He supposed a few parts of it may be. Even though he was sure there was a bit more to it than muggle gardening. He walks to the class and all he could hope for was a good first day. He couldn't wait to get started.

Authors Note: I know this chapter is not too long and im sorry for that! I wanted to put this in there as it would show that even though in different houses Dudley still worries and wants to help his cousin. Plus, I always did wish Harry would have gotten more support. I know I didn't put their schedules in this chapter but I will work on that and Add it in the notes on my next chapter. Hope everyone likes this! If you have an suggestions please let me know Im always open to ideas as some of the ones I have gotten so far really are good ones. Oh and Please Review! It helps knowing if others like this! =)
