Kagome Day 10
Something dripped into Kagome's mouth. She could not quite put a finger on what the taste was but it was slightly sweet and salty. She was quiet as she allowed the liquid to slid down her throat until she slowly opened her eyes. Kashu stood over her dripping something red into her mouth. With a growl, she rolled over and shot to her feet.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!" Kagome growled as she starting spitting out what had been dripped into her mouth, which she at this point suspected was demon blood.
"Healing you." The beautiful siren responded. "I wanted you to be at full strength today. Anything that I can do to give you a chance."
"Don't act like you care about me." Kagome snapped while grasping her mouth with the back of her hand.
"I care about you more than you know."
"Keh, whatever." She said as she turned away. She missed the look that Kashu gave her. The half-demon was more ingrained in Kagome's heart than she could have guessed.
"You're ribs are healed." She said out loud 'Hopefully tonight she will be able to regain her mind,' she thought to herself.
Kagome glared at her with so much anger that Kashu actually felt a shiver of fear go through her. Unknown to Kagome, she decided that she would drop the barrier half way through Kagome's song. Inuyasha's was Kagome's best chance at regaining not just her memories but all of her.
"Kagome I am happy that you are not soulless like so many before you. We will be linked until one of us dies."
Kagome just glanced at her before standing and stretching her legs. Moving away from the Siren until she was by some wild flowers, she sat and glanced down at the herbs growing by some rocks. She glanced at the herb then smiled slightly as she realized that she recognized it. As she reached out gently to touch the pedals, her mind drifted back to the dream she had with Inuyasha. His golden eyes had been so intense as though he was trying to figure something out. He seemed disappointed in her, which hurt her deeply. She sighed as she thought of him coming towards her, his eyes closed, his lips coming closer. Kagome blushed slightly as she shook her head. She didn't want to admit that she wanted to kiss him but something in her resisted. She wasn't sure if it was because had hurt her in some way or because she was afraid that he would alter her in some way.
Kashu approached Kagome and stopped as she saw the look at her face. Kagome's face was softer, calmer. She looked happy. Sad but happy.
"Kagome." She said gently.
The anger and determination came back quickly as she looked at the Siren.
"What"
"It's time. Your last song."
"If I refuse?"
Kashu sighed. She had to do her best to keep her patience. "Kagome, you have tried resisting me before. You know it does not end well."
"Fine. If it get you out of my life faster than so be it."
Kagome sighed heavily to herself as she realized that after today it would be over. She may be altered but at the end of the day she at least would be free from Kashu. She glanced at the Siren and felt a stirring of something…guilt or fear or curiosity or a mix of the three. She was afraid that she would be stuck like this. She couldn't remember herself clearly, since it felt as though there was a haze over her mind and it's just getting worst with each passing day. She felt angry and determined and the anger was all consuming. She glanced at the Kashu and hate started filling her heart.
Kashu glanced at her and raised her eyebrows but after a second, she actually backed up a little bit. Kagome curled her lips and she actually snarled at the Siren. The pressure was on her to sing but Kagome tried again to resist. Pain started pulsing through her, her breathe starting coming out with gasps.
I am not a stranger to the dark
Hide away, they say
'Cause we don't want your broken parts
I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars
Run away, they say
No one'll love you as you are
Kagome blinked as her voice started off softly, her heart beating fast and tears in her eyes. The song seemed to be reaching inside of her again. Every song she has sang, has been from the heart but no more than this one. She had scars, many from fighting demons and also some internal ones due for everything that she has seen and been through.
But I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us
For we are glorious
Kagome blinked again. Glorious? She felt something settle inside of her. She smiled slightly and actually felt relieved.
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'Cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me.
The song was filling up her heart as the song started picking up. She felt her heart lift once again as she realized once and for all that this was almost over. On top of that, this song was also making her feel better. Despite the changes she had gone through and the memories and perhaps the heart break, at her core, she was Kagome! She would get through this and be okay.
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away 'Cause today, I won't let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that's what we've become (yeah, that's what we've become)
I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us
For we are glorious
She had her arms out as she raised her voice to the sky. For a second she looked like she was having fun and her true nature starting shining out. Lightness filled her eyes instead of anger, her face looked softer but she lowered her face and her face darkened. Kashu felt her heart lighten as it showed that Kagome was not completely lost.
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'Cause here I come
And I'm marching to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologizes, this is me
Kashu glanced up at the sky. She felt a forbidding presence but this was Kagome's bast chance. She felt responsible for Kagome's personality change and since she was in her mind, she really had grown to like the young Priestess. At this time, Kashu dropped the barrier.
And I know that I deserve your love
'Cause there's nothing I'm not worthy of
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'Cause here I come (look out 'cause here Is come)
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologizes, this is me
Kagome felt something in the air. She stopped singing and glanced towards Kashu. The Siren seemed uncomfortable and almost scared? Her eyes were wide and she was facing the same direction that Kagome could feel something…she wasn't sure what. It seemed familiar for some reason.
"What did you do?" Kagome asked quietly.
Kashu glanced at Kagome, tears forming in her eyes."I'm sorry Kagome. I really was trying to help you but Instead I hurt you even worst."
"But what is happening?" Kagome felt the anger but fear and regret started overpowering it. "I'm sorry for being so angry."
"No it was my fault. Keep singing Kagome. Finish this."
Kagome hesitated but at the overwhelming pressure to sing, she opened her mouth but tried to stop. Despite her feelings, she instinctively knew that she was safe with Kashu so she didn't want anything to hurt her. Something was different but she could not put her finger on it.
What's the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I'm gonna send a flood
Gonna drown them out
Oh
This is…ahhh
Kagome was unable to finish because at the last moment she was in Naraku's tentacles as he emerged out of nowhere and picked her up and quickly put another tentacle over her mouth. She squirmed as she tried to get away from him. Kashu turned and glanced at Naraku. Before she could disappear, Naraku quickly engulfed her. Before Kagome's eyes, he started wrapping his tentacles around her.
"Let me go, Naraku." Kashu said scathingly as she tried to get away, her wings flapping quickly but she was unable to. A scream was released as he crushed her wings.
"I need your ability to put up a shield from my enemies."
Before Kashu could say something else, she was completely swallowed. Kagome swallowed and felt anger burn her. She felt something wither and die inside of her and the fuzzy feeling she had earlier was gone.
"NaaaRRRRAAAKKUUUU!" Kagome screamed with such anger that he almost dropped her. He could feel that something was wrong with her but he couldn't sense what it was. She felt lost…like something was missing.
He looked over her and he blinked as he saw the anger look filled with hatred. She certainly didn't like him but he wasn't sure if ever saw such a dark ugly look on her face. Her Priestess powers seemed to be diminished.
"Where's Inuyasha?"
"Who?"
Naraku raised his eyebrow but he couldn't think of a better punishment for the dreaded half-demon. The woman who loved him forgot about him and he saved her. Of all people, Naraku saved her.
"I saved you." Kagome raised her eyes and glared at him in anger.
"You did not! You killed Kashu for your pity selfish reasons. Don't make it sound like you did it for me."
Naraku looked at her and realized that she was completely defensively but Kagome had no fear. Her eyes shown determination, anger and hatred so strong that he felt a sliver of fear. He shook his head and came to the conclusion that it would be better to not harm Kagome but to have her meet Inuyasha since she can't remember him. Besides she has no powers, so she's useless. Just as fast as he arrived, he vanished. Kagome blinked at the sky and started chasing the cloud. She wanted to get him back for what he did to Kashu. She felt the bond between them snap and she felt more angry, confused and determine then before. She would destroy Naraku if for Kashu's sake than for nothing else.
—The song that she sang was "This is Me" from the musical The Greatest Showman.
