An Absol, which has seen many things in the world, and a Ninetails who has had a tragic past. They met by chance, by chance they became a Team, and by chance they were thrown into a dangerous battle.

I stepped back, staring at the big grey Pokemon looming over me.

"I am Dante the Dusknoir! I am the chief of Spirit's Town, the home of the Ghost-type Pokemon, and we do not need more Dark-Types invading our home!"

"Wh-What?" Why….we came to help him right? Why was he trying to drive us off?

Dante stared down on me with his single red, flashing, eye. "You heard me; we don't need more dark types invading our homes. So get out!" he boomed as other Ghost Pokemon began to gather behind Dante.

I glared while my teammates gathered behind me. "What's wrong with you? We're an Exploration Team here to help you!" I growled at him.

Dante scoffed. "Hmph, a Team coming here with a Dark type is like no help at all."

"What was that?!" I retorted and was about to make a nasty comment when a Haunter suddenly materialized in front of me and grabbed my head.

"Don't talk to our chief so rudely filthy demon." it spat at me.

I glared at him and zipped my mouth.

"Hey, hey, c'mon just let the team do the job Dante. It's not like our situation will just get worse with 2 additions to our enemy." A voice came from the crowd behind them.

Dante turned around. "What was that? You know perfectly well it clearly affects us! You always never try to drive these darklings away when they come! Or are you working for our enemy and gathering members for them Adar?" Dante gave a one eyed scowl to a Chandelure who was floating left and right.

"Well, you don't know. They could actually drive them off and completely out of our town here. I mean, they ARE a team that accepted our request. It'll only be right to give them a chance." Adar the Chandelure calmly replied. At this, cries of protest automatically came out of the crowd.

"What?!"

"You can't be serious!"

"We always do this and 'give teams a chance'!"

"Yeah, and look what happens to each and every one of them! Either demolished or we get betrayed!" a Sableeye shouted louder than the rest of the crowd. "All the dark-types should just die!" he yelled. Shouts of agreements immersed from the crowds of ghost-type Pokemon.

Evo began to topple a bit behind me. "Is it just me or is the purple mist around here getting deeper every time they talk?" she asked us, dazed.

"Yeah, it's like we're seeing a mirage." Axel muttered, rubbing his eyes with his paw.

He was right, the more I stared at the protesting Ghost Pokemon the more I felt like what I saw wasn't real.

Dante slammed his fist onto the ground, making a loud bang despite him being a Ghost-type, silencing everybody.

"Enough Kiburi! I am happy for your spite towards Dark-types, however stop making a ruckus every single time you see one!" Dante boomed. "Go, to your room this instant." Dante ordered the Sableye.

"Che, I hope by the time I come back those things are gone." Sableye spat, giving a spiteful look at me and Axel.

Dante turned once more to us, this time with Adar the Chandelure floating behind him.

"May I ask who your leader here is?" Dante requested, scanning his eyes over Evo, Yukari, and Kyuna. "It must be this Ninetails correct?" he asked, pointed a finger over to Kyuna.

"No, it's this dark-type over here." Kyuna replied, pointing at the direction where Axel and I stood.

Dante recoiled. "A dark-type as your leader?! You are all crazy to do something like that!" he looked over to me and Axel and pointed at Axel. "It must be the more civilized Absol at least right? Just so you know, I don't believe that tragedy legend about Absol. I may hate dark-types but I never fall for that kind of superstition." Dusknoir looked at Axel.

"Ah, thank you!" Axel bowed his head, and then pointed a claw at me. "Sorry, but the leader's this Umbreon." Axel replied.

Dante stared at me. "This…..thing…..it seems this team really is crazy." He muttered. This was really starting piss me off, actually I was nearly at boiling point here.

On the other hand, Adar cackled, his whole body shaking up and down.

"Hahaha! Interesting! This rather slim thing that only seems to have is a really mean look to him? This team might actually do something interesting!" he cackled.

"Silence Adar!" Dante snapped at him, the Dusknoir looked down on us.

"Are you determined to really take down our enemy?" he asked us.

I scowled determinedly at him. "Of cou-" I was interrupted by Yukari before I finished.

"Of course we will! We accepted this request so we'll never give up on it! I don't wanna participate in something that's a waste of my time!" Yukari said feverishly at Dante.

Evo smiled at the Dusknoir. "I'm up for it, that's why we're an Exploration Team." She added.

"We'll keep these 2 in check." Kyuna assured Dante, flicking her eyes towards us.

"Hey…" I grimaced.

Axel just grinned on the other hand.

Dante stayed silent as he looked at us.

"Is Chief Dante really about to let them do it?" voices from the crowd were compiling the situation.

"That's impossible; he knows the dangers and consequences."

Adar the Chandelure seemed to smirk, "I can provide them a place to stay till they're finished Dante, I've already got someone living with me." Adar told the Chief.

Dante gave piercing, one-eyed look at Adar. "Even if they attempt it, it still seems impossible. It's only a Normal, Psychic, and Fire type along with 2 demons." Dante replied.

"I agree the Espeon might have troubles, but everything else will be a-okay, not to mention the Eevee has yet to open up her potential." Adar noted, spinning round and round as he observed us. "Also the 2 dark types will be quite resistant against their army and the fire-type should prove some use as well."

"Yes but…it's like a whole army is against them."

I stepped forward and was about to say something when Kyuna stopped me.

"Don't say anything; if a dark-type speaks here it would count as nothing." She told me. "Let me do it." She said and walked forward.

"Excuse me." Kyuna interrupted the two Pokemon, they both looked at her.

"We still have something else." Kyuna said, and then tapped her paw on her head twice. "We also have wit. We'll make do with the situation."

Dante and Adar looked at each other. Dante nodded at Adar and looked back at us.

"Hm, I'm still not qui-" Dante's indecision was interrupted by a loud outburst.

"ANOTHER RAID! ANOTHER RAID IS COMING!" a voice screamed.
Dante and Adar's face turned dark, Dante looked at us. "Hide, quickly. We must not let them see you two." Dante said, pointing at me and Axel.

"But!"

"GO!" he ordered.

At that we scattered. Evo and I jumped into the black water and sank down, Yukari jumped into a ravaged basket and flipped it over here small body. Axel and Kyuna hopped into nearby black bushes.

I opened my eyes underwater to see absolutely black, this water wasn't clear at all. From the depths of water I could hear uninterpretable shouts and screams. There were also crashes and the breaking of wood. I slowly lifted my head up from the water, a lily pad safely covering my head, and the sight horrified me.

There were dark-type Pokemon, hordes of them, charging in and breaking down doors, monuments, and hurting innocent ghost-type Pokemon all around. Dark-types ranging Mightyenas to Scraftys were completely destroying and ravaging the town. Next to me, Evo was also looking at the scene with a horrified expression.

Suddenly there a loud deathly scream, I immediately looked over to see a sneering Drapion loom over an extremely frightened Litwick. I widened my eyes as the Drapion brought its large talons up, giving a demonic smile at the Litwick. I knew I was supposed to be hidden, but my body once again reacted before my brain could think. I splashed out of the pond and slammed my body into the Drapion's side. It howled in pain as I clamped my fangs into its side. I didn't care if it didn't affect Drapion much; I just wanted to bite right through this bastard's body. I wanted to make him suffer for acting that way to a child. The Drapion gave struggle and gave a painful cry as it whacked one of its long arms into my side. I felt it's hard scaly arm slam into my ribs and hacked some blood out of my mouth as I went flying into the side of the road. The Drapion stood up and looked at who was attacking at it, a.k.a me, it looked surprised to see another Dark-type but that face turned into fury.

"Traitor!" it shouted and lunged with its long talons at me.

I jumped up to avoid it and glared at the stupid Pokemon. "I was never on your team!" I snarled, and slammed my head into its gut again, afterwards I jumped back, shivered my whole body, and then sent a Dark Pulse at the Drapion, making it flinch.

"Kyuna! Burn it up!" I ordered my teammate.

Kyuna bounced out of the bushes and began to spin, her nine tails going into flames.

"Flame Wheel." She echoed and rammed her enflamed body into the Drapion's back, digging its face into the ground. Finally Kyuna finished her Flame Wheel by sending her flames into a circle onto the ground around the Drapion and creating a tornado of burning of fire around it, completely covering the Drapion in fire. After the fire died down all that was left was the Drapion, lying on the ground knocked out.

"Lucky it and its hard exterior." Kyuna scoffed.

By this time, everybody had their attention on us, the flames flickering brightly behind around our work.

"Who the hell is that?" a Honchkrow squawked.

"It doesn't matter! Whoever resists we must eliminate! Those were our orders if this happened!" a Krookodile, who I assumed was the leader of this raid, growled.

"But there's another Dark-type among them!"

"So what?! If he's the enemy kill him for his betrayal!" the Krookodile barked, suddenly out of nowhere, a window broke and a shadow jumped out of the window. I recognized it as the arrogant Sableye before, Kiburi.

"Sucker Punch!" he shouted, and pounded the Krookodile with black punches.

"Grk!" the Krookodile stepped back at the attack, he snarled at Kiburi. "You little…"

"Hmph, get out of my face demon." Kiburi said calmly and vanished at high speed.

"Wha?!" the Krookodile flinched as he disappeared.

"Poison Jab!" Kiburi shouted, and pounded another barrage of punches at the Krookodile. Despite it being ineffective, it looked as if the attack was dealing quite a number on the Krookodile. He stumbled back after the attack, and put up his small arm. "Everybody gather up!" he growled and was about to fall back to avoid getting anymore hits before Kiburi did another skill on him.

"Mean Look." The Sableye's gemstone eyes gleamed, and the Krookodile was no longer able to move from his spot, no matter how much he struggled.

"You! What did you do!?" he roared at Kiburi.

"Nothing much." Kiburi looked away arrogantly. "I simply made you stop moving, not that I really need to with your big lugging body."

"What was that?! Grrr, gang up on him!" Krookodile ordered.

All the dark-types stopped terrorizing the town and charged at Kiburi. I couldn't read Kiburi's expressions since he's a Sableye, but I could've sworn he was sneering at them. He jumped up with his small body once all his enemies were close up.

"Haha! Too slow stupid darklings!" he laughed, and swiftly jabbed all of them in the gut with a Poison Jab.

However, the Krookodile smirked as well. "We still win in numbers idiot!" he shouted as a Cacturne caught Kiburi and slammed his small body onto the ground.

"Hmph, this small thing is a danger despite his looks. We've gotta eliminate him." Krookodile said, finally breaking free from the Mean Look effects. The Cacturne nodded in agreement and raised one of its arms up with sharp thorns in it.

"Stop it this instant!" Dante shouted and appeared out of nowhere and slammed an Ice Punch into the Cacturne, and then punted a Thunder Punch into the Houndour behind him and sent 2 other dark-types near him flying with a mighty Fire Punch.

Kyuna and I watched this in amazement; we now knew why he was the Chief of this town. He packed a punch, many types of them for that matter.

"Get out! All of you out of my town now!" Dante boomed.

Krookodile sneered again. "Like hell, we don't take orders from ANY Pokemon anymore except our Commander! We're tired of other Pokemon looking down on us Dark-types!" Krookodile roared. I noticed an injured Scrafty sneak up behind Dusknoir and hold up its hand, flashing with purple lights

"Axel, Yukari! Get the Scrafty! Stop its Payback!" I ordered my 2 other teammates.

Absol flashed out of the bushes where Kyuna was and Yukari flipped the basket up and pounced onto the Scrafty and bit into its neck. The Scrafty struggled and tried to pull Yukari off of his neck. Axel suddenly ran up and slashed the Scrafty's stomach with Aerial Ace, sending it unconscious from the amount of damage it took.

Dante looked at our work in surprise.

"Come on." I nodded to Kyuna and we ran up beside Dante to support him.

Krookodile gave us a dirty look. "So this is the new Exploration Team that you've hired huh? I admit, they're pretty annoying, but we'll soon have those 2 dark-types on our side soon. We'll retreat for now! Everybody gather yourselves up!" Krookodile ordered his underlings and they all fled out of town while supporting they're injured comrades.

I sighed in relief as we watched them exit the town. "Geez, that was tiring." I breathed.

"You did well in orders Shiro." Kyuna praised.

"Still not enough though." Dante said. "That was just a small portion, the regular ones who do daily raids of our town. I admit you all are very skilled and you have helped us which I am thankful for, but you'll need more teammates to beat them."

"So it seems…." I looked up to Dante. "If you'll allow us to continue…will you help us?" I asked him, I personally don't know why I was asking the requester to help with our request, but I felt we were going to need his power to defeat this force.

The Dusknoir looked surprised. "No Exploration Team has requested our help before, they were all pretty self-centered." Dante said with a surprised look.

"Yeeah, well we're not the average Exploration Team. We've dealt with something similar to this before." Axel said, scratching his ear and holding down the unconscious Scrafty on the ground. "They forgot this guy by the way; we could squeeze info out of him."

Dante looked surprised again. "Hm, what a peculiar Exploration Team you guys are." He boomed.

Adar the Chandelure suddenly interrupted, "Alright, alright, if you're convinced they're a really good choice of helpers Dante we have some injured Pokemon and broken property to care for." Adar said.

Dante jumped, "Of course." He turned to the lingering townspeople. "Everybody who isn't injured help the ones who are! We must rebuild as fast as possible!" he shouted, clapping his hands. He looked at Axel and Yukari. "Leave him there; we'll tie him up for interrogation later." Dante told them and they nodded. "Adar, take them to your home. We need to have them rest, if they truly have the will to help us….we will take their offer." Dante said, looking directly at me and held out of his giant hand.

"It'll be good to have you help us. I'll assist as much as possible. Some townspeople here might disagree; however I speak for the whole of Spirit's Town and accepts your Exploration Team's help." Dante said.

I held my paw up to his hand and we shook. "We're glad for you to have us." I responded, giving a friendly nod.

"Alright, come, come, by the way, where is that Espeon?" Adar asked me.

Evo suddenly jumped out of the waters and made a battle pose. "What's the order?" she growled.

"Oh…we're done." I told her.

Evo slunk her shoulders and had her mouth agape. "Wha…Why didn't you let me fight!? Why didn't you give me an order?!" she yelled at me.

I stepped back, "Well, uh, you see, it's kinda of like that, you know? You were a Psychic type so-"

"That doesn't mean I can't fight!" she retorted.

"Yeah, but…" I suddenly noticed the Sableye, Kiburi, getting up and dusting himself. I walked over to him. "Hey, you okay? You were awesome during that fight there." I said to him.

Kiburi simply looked at me and bared his teeth. "Shut up and die demon." He snapped at me and walked off, leaving me there dumbfounded.

"Well I hope you have a good day!" I growled at him.

"It seems you're acquainted with Kiburi," Adar said behind me, making me jump. "He's had a hard past with dark-types, don't let it get to you so much. Unless he attacks you, that's a different matter all together. He's quite skilled, he's thrown away his dark-type side and wants to live as a full Ghost-type." The Chandelure sighed a sigh of purple smoke." He's quite the troubled boy. Anyways, come along I'll show you your room." He said and led us down a black alley.

"You live in this area?" I asked in confusion.

"Yeah, it's quite the luxury isn't it?" Adar replied.

"I find it quite creepy actually; I'm getting shivers all over the place." Evo shivered.

"You'll get used to it, by the way…" Adar looked at Kyuna while floating backwards. "That Flame Wheel you did, it seemed much too powerful to be a regular old Flame Wheel. Did you perhaps…have something to give it more power?" he asked Kyuna.

We looked at Kyuna.

"Now that I think about it…." I said.

"The flames were quite intense, too intense actually." Evo noted.

"Not to mention beautiful." Axel added.
Kyuna stared at everybody with her emotionless face and then held up one of her paws that had a red bracelet with a fire design on it much like the ones on all four of her legs.

"These bracelets, I got them from my parents before they…" she stopped. "These bracelets increase my fire attacks and can make them 4x more powerful than they were before if I will them to. They're called 'Prominence', and will make my fire attacks 8x more powerful if it's extremely Sunny outside." Kyuna finished her explanation, her tails strangely drooping.

"Hm, so the more you put on the stronger your fire attacks are hm?" Adar asked.

Kyuna nodded, "Yes, that's about it."

"Interesting, well here it is! My home!" Adar said and swung a door open that I could've sworn was NOT on that wall just now. The door opened up with a wave up purple mist coming out.

"Quite luxurious isn't it?" He said, floating up and down happily.

"This guy doesn't seem happy, he just seems crazy." Yukari muttered.

"I heard that young lady!" Adar snapped and floated in, lighting a few torches on the way in. We cautiously walked in and down a set of stairs to see a dimly lit room.

Actually, room didn't fit it much. It was more of a laboratory. I looked behind me to see the door close, but I could've sworn I saw a shade of blue and purple float in quickly.

"Welcome to my humble abode!" Adar announced, showing the laboratory. There were vials of strange liquids everywhere and many containers with discarded parts of Pokemon. "As you can see I'm a researcher, coming up for new things to use in this world!" He turned to look at a spiral staircases going up. "Oi! Rusty! Come down here and introduce yourself!" Adar called.

"Rusty?" Evo asked, "Another Pokemon you live with."

"Yeah, he's a foreigner. Not many Pokemon here are good with outsiders, there's a hotel upstairs I run in case these experiments don't make P." Adar explained as a Pokemon floated downstairs.

It was a Pokemon I've never seen before; it was like….a living sword and shield.

"G-Good Dey Pokemons" the Pokemon said.

"It's pronounced Pokemon, not Pokemons Rusty." Adar corrected Rusty.

"Ah, I sey. Ah, Bonjour. My neme es Rusty, I em a Aegislash." The Pokemon introduced himself.

"Ah, nice to meet you." We greeted back and introduced ourselves.

"Rusty here came from somewhere way west from here. He's still grasping our language. Since he lives here he's my part-time assistant." Adar said, attaching himself to a chain on the ceiling and swinging around.

"Ah, I see." I replied as I watched the Aegislash float around the laboratory, cleaning any dirty containers and organizing everything. These are the Pokemon we'll live with until we're done with this request. I abruptly felt something go up my spine. I shivered and turned around to see 2 big pink eyes looking back at me.

"BOO!" the Pokemon squeaked loudly.

"GAAAAAH!" I jumped and fell onto the ground.

YEAH BABY! THE CLIFFHANGER IS BACK! I have to thank roadie0787 for his OC, Kiburi the Sableye. That fight scene was really fun to write.

Scar the Umbreon-Not giving Spoilers, though forshadowing already decided that. Anyways, you really shouldn't reveal so much there. We communicate by reader-author. I can't do communication by phone…just personal preference.

Yay! Review and I'll try to get the plot breaking invasion of the Haunted Mansion as soon as possible. I still haven't revealed the main antagonist for this arc! DON'T MAKE GUESSES JUST YET! It'll be all revealed next chappie :3
