Ronon is sitting at his desk at home, reading a text message from John. He dials Teyla's number and listens to the dial tone.
"Ronon, I'm going to have to call you back." His sister tells him over the phone.
"Teyla, it's okay, it might be important." Ronon hears someone say in the background.
"Is that Lizzie?" He asks.
Teyla responds "Yes." Pause. He can hear her move. "And in a low voice she tells him "She left Simon. I'll tell you all about it later."
With concern in his voice, he asks "How's she doing?"
"She's holding up."
"I can beat him up for her."
"Ronon says he'll beat the asshole up for you." She calls over loudly.
"Tell him he's not worth it."
Teyla repeats this and says "She says he's not worth it."
Ronon smiles and says "Okay, I'll just rough him up a bit… teach him a lesson."
"I'll let her know. Look, sweetie, I know you said you need to talk to me…"
Ronon cuts her off "Hey, Lizzie needs you. Go." He tells her reassuringly. "I'll just call you later."
"Thanks, Ronon." Teyla replies.
"Love you, Teyla."
"Love you too, Ronon." And then she hangs up.
"What was that all about?" Malena asks, coming up from behind. He hears the front door open and shut, probably Jen. He can hear the echo of her sneakers drop to the floor.
"Lizzie." He answers. And then corrects himself, realizing that Melena always forgets who 'Lizzie' is. "Elizabeth. She finally left Simon."
"Why?"
"Probably coz Simon is a dick."
Melena shrugs. "I always thought he was charming."
"He has a wandering eye." Ronon adds.
Melena shrugs again. "Hmmm." She says nonchalantly. Ronon frowns a little at this.
"Hey, did I hear you say that Lizzie left Simon?" Jennifer says, dropping her purse on top of the kitchen counter.
You think that you know my heart
And you probably do
So I'm always with you
I could stay with you for hours
In an empty room
And never get bored
Never have nothing to do
You're my other half
You're what makes me me
What makes me smile
When I fall down and can't get back, get back, get back up
On my feet
Without you here I am boring
Something inside you is triggering
It makes me myself
Makes me funny, you're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful thing together
Even when the weather is low
You're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful thing together
Even when the weather is low
We find the rainbow
Up in the sky
You'd say don't you cry, it's all gonna be alright
Ronon sees Melena roll her eyes. "Yeah." He says, getting up and walking towards Jennifer, brushing past Melena in annoyance.
"Where is she now?" She asks, as she jogs to the stairs leading up to her room. Stripping off her scrubs top, leaving a white long-sleeved shirt.
"Teyla's." He answers. One foot at the fist step, looking up at her. Melena is moving to the kitchen and starts to take out food for dinner. "Hey, you're having dinner here, right?" He asks Jennifer. At the same time, he sees Melena mouth 'What?!'
"No." Jennifer responds, coming down the stairs. Already changed in Skinny Jeans, Boots and a bulky sweater. He turns to follow her movement. She grabs her bag and reaches up to put her hair in a bun. "I should go over there. Moral support, ya know."
"Yeah…" Ronon responds, scratching the top of his head. "I can drop you off, if you want."
Melena has her back turned to them, but they both see Melena visibly stiffen. Jennifer doesn't take her eyes off Melena while she walks to the door. "Uh, thanks, but I'll just take the subway." With that, she walks out the door.
As soon as the door shuts, Ronon turns to Melena who's looking really pissed. Shrugging, she says "I only have enough ingredients to cook for just the two of us."
"Why?" Ronon asks. "You know she comes home by 7. And she doesn't normally eat out."
"She's a grown woman." Melena argues. "I'm sure she can get her own groceries."
"She lives here, we've always shared everything."
"EVERYTHING?"
"You know what I mean." Ronon says, shaking his head.
"No, I don't, Ronon." Melena says bitterly. "I really don't. Seems to me that whatever Jennifer wants, Jennifer gets."
"That's not true."
"Really?!" Melena yells. "Are you seriously in denial?"
"Denial? Denial about what?" Ronon sputters.
"She wants you! Why do you think she stays? She's all over you." Melena says, gesturing towards the door. "And honestly, I think you like the attention."
"What?" He asks incredulously. "She's my best friend."
"I think, YOU. LIKE. THE. ATTENTION."
"You're crazy."
"And you're arrogant. And a prick. And she's a little…"
Ronon takes a deep breath "Don't you dare finish that sentence." And then walks to the hallway closet and grabb his jacket.
"Where are you going?"
"Out." He simply says as the door shuts behind him.
"Aaaaaaaaaagh!" He hears Melena scream. He nods his head at the little old neighbor lady who's carrying a paper bag of groceries at her door. She shakes her head at him in disapproval.
Ronon pulls out his phone from his pocket and sends a group text to Laura and Evan as he pushes the down button.
R: Where you guys at?
L: Sateda
L: You coming out?
R: Yeah. Give me 20.
L: Jen?
R: On her way to Teyla's.
L: Don't bring Melena.
R: I'm not.
L: Good.
E: Laura, you can be such a…
L: Bitch? I never said otherwise.
R: You gonna be there?
L: Well I'm not going anywhere.
R: I meant Evan.
L: Ah. No. He's going on a da-ate.
E: It's just drinks.
L: Whatever. It's a date.
iPhone: Ronon just left the conversation

If we ever got into a fight oh that would be bad
'Cause you know all of my secrets
But I know all of yours
We make hours turn into seconds together
The weight of the world feel like a feather
'Cause we're holding it right in our hands
You're my other half
You're what makes me me
What makes me smile
When I fall down and can't get back up, get back, get back up
On my feet
Without you here I am boring
Something inside you is triggering
It makes me myself, makes me funny
You're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful thing together
Even when the weather is low
You're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful thing together
Even when the weather is low
Only moments after Jennifer shuts the door behind her:
"I only have enough ingredients to cook for just the two of us." She hears Melena say as she fumbles for Metro card in her purse.
"Why?" Ronon asks. "You know she comes home by 7. And she doesn't normally eat out."
"She's a grown woman." She hears. "I'm sure she can get her own groceries."
"She lives here, we've always shared everything."
"EVERYTHING?" This is her cue to leave.
Once outside the building, Jennifer calls Teyla. "Hey! So I heard about Lizzie. Can I come over?"
"Of course!"
"Do you want me to pick up anything."
A pause. "Wine, we need a bottle or two. I'm almost out."
"Wine it is." Jennifer exclaims. "I'll see you in half an hour." She adds as she walks across the street to the little grocery store.
Minutes later, Jennifer is standing on the platform among the crowd, waiting. She looks at her watch, then looks up to her left and sees a head full of dreads above the throng of people. She'd recognize that head anywhere. She slumps slightly to avoid getting seen. She's not in the mood after hearing them argue. It's hard enough that Melena has been staying at the loft since Valentines. Awkward situations aren't her thing.
As soon as the train arrives, Jennifer moves with the crowd to get in the already occupied train. Good. It's full. I can slink down, and he won't see me.

Three and a half hours later, Jennifer is back on the train, heading home. At the next stop, the doors open and a few people walk in. And Ronon.
Fuck. She thinks to herself. He sees her. Smiles, then walks towards her. She can tell that he's drunk. He has this weird lazy smile that he normally has plastered all over his face.
"Hey." He says, plopping down next to her. Slightly crushing her.
"Umph." She pushes him, and then immediately grabs his jacket to prevent him from falling over. "Hey."
"Hey." Still smiling at her.
"Aren't you supposed to be home with Melena."
"Nope." He says as he traces invisible circles on the pole next to him.
Jennifer stays quiet for a while.
"We had a fight." He says after some time. She just nods her head. "Wanna know why?"
"No."
"Okay." Ronon then spreads his thighs wider, bumping into Jen's high. And then starts drumming on the seat.
After a few minutes he turns to her and says "Melena was saying…"
"Ronon. I said no. So shush."
He nods in compliance. He leans back onto the seat and for the rest of the ride home, they don't speak.
When they get back to their place, its dark. Jennifer switches the light on. Ronon is already heading towards his bedroom. "Melena?" He calls out.
Jennifer doesn't hear a response from that direction. She heads upstairs to change and then comes back down to brush her teeth. Ronon's already there. Looking at the toothbrush holder. Still looking drunk.
"Um. I think she broke up with me."
"What, just coz she took her toothbrush?" She says as she brushes her own teeth.
"That and all her clothes are gone." Ronon responds. His eyes blinking. Fighting to stay open.
She spits out the water and foam in her mouth "Sorry Ronon." She then goes on tiptoe and gives him a big hug and squeezes. She feels him relax. When he starts to get heavy, she pulls away. But he keeps her in his arms. With half closed eyes, he stares at her. And in few seconds, his mouth is on hers. Tasting her lips.
You and me, together
We'll forget what we have been told
We'll live in our own dream world
You and me, forever
We'll forget what we have been told
We will take on the whole world
Without you here I am boring
Something inside you is triggering
It makes me myself, it makes me funny
You're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful thing together
Even when the weather is low
And that's a beautiful thing
TBC.
Sorry for the cliffhanger!
