There was a lot of chatter outside in the halls. The young 3rd year students were taught about boggarts in their Defense Against the Dark Arts class. And most of them were pretty shaken. Others were bravely talking about the experience. James was walking with his arm draped on Allyson's shoulders. They heard all the students talk about their fears. This reminded Allyson and James' experience learning about boggarts. Allyson remembered, as her fear of heights came to life during that class and she had to muster the courage to cast the spell. And as she started thinking back to that day she started trying to remember what James was afraid of. But as hard as she tried, she couldn't remember. She turned to look at James.
"Hey James, do you remember when we were taught about boggarts. I was wondering what did the boggart turned into when you saw it?"
"I never got a chance to face the boggart. Marcus Yates fainted when he saw a giant clown and the professor decided to end the exercise before I got a turn with it." James answered.
Allyson then remembered. He was right.
"So what are you scared of?" She asked.
James tensed up.
"I'm not telling!"
"Oh that's not fair! I told you what I'm scared of!" Allyson exclaimed.
"I'm still not telling!" James teased.
"I bet I can find out what you're scared of before our Head boy/head girl duties." She challenged.
"You're on babe! But there's one rule, you can't ask Albus or Lily or Fred or Rose or any of my other relatives."
Ally scoffed and slumped her shoulders. This just made her task more difficult. Not impossible thought. She straightened up and looked right up at James' mischievous brown eyes.
"Deal!"
"Well it's a bet then. I have to go babe. I got Quidditch practice now. I'll see you tonight for our rounds."
He gave her a small peck on the lips and went to the changing rooms. Allyson thought on how she should start. James said he couldn't ask any of his relatives as a condition of their bet. Suddenly Jennifer walked up to her.
"Hey Ally, what's up?" She asked.
"I have a bet to find out what James is afraid of but I can't ask any of his relatives. I have no idea where to start."
Jennifer thought about it for a second and finally came up with an idea.
"Well Allyson, I think our only plan here is to stalk your boyfriend all day and try to scare him all day." Jennifer said as she grabbed Allyson's hand and went on their way to try to scare James Potter.
They spent the whole entire day trying to scare James with spiders, snakes, darkness, fire, bugs, and loads of other things. But most of their efforts only amused James. Allyson and Jennifer went up to the common room and crashed on top of the couch in frustration. There was only 10 minutes till the deadline. She was going to lose the bet. A thunderstorm had begun. The sound of thunder was filling the entire castle. Down at the portrait, Rose was saying goodnight to her boyfriend Scorpius. They shared one last kiss and she walked in to the common room giggling. And she stumbled upon both frustrated girls on the couch.
"And what's up with you two?"
"Ally made a bet with James." Jennifer started.
"I bet that I could find out what he was scared of with out asking you or any of his relatives. We spent all day trying to scare him."
"But apparently James Fricking Potter has nerves of steel! Nothing worked." Jen added.
"And now my deadline is up in 2 minutes. I just lost the bet."
Rose chuckled as another thunder boomed.
"Well I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help." Rose said.
"It's ok Rose. I have to go to my do my head girl duties. I'll see you girls later."
Allyson stood up and walked towards the door. Suddenly Rose reached up to her and grabbed her shoulder.
"I know it's kinda late to win the bet now, but if you're still curious as to what James is… a quick trip to the trophy room could be quite… helpful at this time."
As she said that the thunder cracked loudly making everybody flinch slightly. Ally thanked Rose even though she had no idea what she was talking about. Allyson walked out as she thought over and over what she could've possibly meant. What could be in the trophy room that could scare James? As she walked down the hall the sounds of the thunderstorm got louder. Ally was close to the trophy room and suddenly another thunderclap echoed through the hall. And in the silence she heard small gasp and heavy breathing. Allyson raised her eyebrows and went in to the trophy room. It was dark inside the room. There was only one lamp lighting up the place. But even through the darkness, she could see a familiar person sitting in a corner of the room breathing heavily. The sound of the thunder made the person gasp in fear.
"SHIT!" The person cursed out as the sound of the thunder dimmed out.
She recognized that voice.
"James?" She asked approaching the person.
James looked up and saw his girlfriend standing before him.
"Allys- AHHH!" He screamed as he was interrupted by the sound of thunder.
"James, you're afraid of thunder?"
"Yeah… just laugh it up…" he said ashamed of himself as he sat against the wall.
Allyson sighed and kneeled before him.
"I'm not going to laugh at you." She soothingly whispered as she lovingly placed both of her hands on the sides of his face.
She got closer to him and she kissed him. She placed one hand on his shoulder and kept her other on the side of his face. James grabbed Ally's waist and kissed her back. As the sounds of the thunder echoed through the trophy room, James tightened his grip on her waist as they continued kissing. After some minutes later Allyson broke the kiss and rested her forehead against his and slowly ran her fingers down his face while James softened his grip on her waist and slowly ran his hand up her waist.
"You're always there for me when I'm afraid, so I'm here for you now. I love you James, no matter what." She whispered lovingly with a tender smile.
He looked into her icy blue eyes and brought up a hand to her face.
"I love you too Allyson. Thank you…"
The sound of thunder ripped through again. James quickly pulled Allyson close to him and buried his face into her neck. Allyson smiled and ran her hands through his hair.
"There, there, it's all going to be alright."
The couple spent the whole thunderstorm in the trophy room, missing their nightly duties. Would accept the consequences for it later. Allyson sat on the ground while James rested his head on her lap. She held his glasses with one hand while she ran her other hand through his dark hair. She focused her sight on his peaceful face. He had his eyes closed and his breathing was even. Every time they heard the thunder he would tense up and relaxed as soon as it was over. There hasn't been any sound for 10 minutes now. She let her hand wander down to his face. James brought up his hand and placed it on top of hers.
"I guess you win the bet huh?" James chuckled.
Allyson laughed lowly.
"I kinda missed my deadline. You win the bet. So… do you want your prize?" She asked smirking at him.
"My prize?" He questioned looking up at her.
She tucked back the strand of hair that was in her face behind her ear and leaned down to kiss him. The kissed for a few minutes and broke apart for air.
"That's one hell of a prize there Evans! We should make bets more often." He said smirking at her.
After realizing that the thunderstorm was over the couple got up on their feet. James turned to Allyson.
"Thank you for helping me through this babe." He said as he ran a hand through her long red hair.
"It was nothing sweetie."
