As Sirius - No - the Joker dragged Harry further into the building he began thinking on what he should do next. This just wasn't what he had expected when he thought of the many scenarios and possibilities that filled his head when he thought about finally finding his godfather. He wanted to save him. He really did. But the further they went, and the more disgustingly grotesque sites he was shown Harry began to doubt that he could help him, but then the older man would get this look on his face, something akin to regret maybe even remorse, but then he would look at Harry with unfocused eyes and just grin maddeningly at him.
It terrifyingly reminded Harry of Bellatrix.
Must be that Black blood. Harry felt guilty for only a moment before he let that guilt go, because it was true, Sirius had gone mad… this wasn't Sirius anymore, his godfather was gone, leaving behind a hollow version of himself in his place, a hollow version that still loved to prank. The Joker.
And now Harry to think about his options on how to proceed, he didn't want to give up on him, but if the man gave him no choice then he would. He could always attempt to find a way back home, maybe convince Andromeda to give him Teddy. She was getting on in years, and honestly when he left he knew she wouldn't of been long for the world, especially after losing her husband and daughter thanks to the war, time passed differently here. So he knew not much time would of passed back home.
Harry wanted to punch himself, he went through all this trouble to get his godfather, he completely pushed aside his own duties as godfather.
"What you thinking about there Bambi?"
Harry stared into the strangers eyes, he didn't know this man. Could he find the man he used to know?
"I'm thinking I made a mistake in coming here, I should have stayed with Teddy."
The man paused beside him and looked at him placing both his hands on his shoulders.
"Harry, you did what you thought was right at the time, and if I remember correctly 'Tonk's' is Nymphadora right?" At Harry's nod he continued, "Then I know my cousin, Tonk's mum, would do anything and everything to make sure that little boy grows up knowing how loved he is! Don't feel bad Harry, from what you've said of your time there, it's hell for you."
For a moment Harry felt hope, only for a moment.
A gleam entered the older man's eyes.
"Hell haha there's an idea, when we're done raging hell here, we'll rage hell there! We'll make them regret the day they dared turn on you! After all you've been through and done for that miserable world!"
The man laughed maniacally. Harry felt his heart drop, perhaps he shouldn't of said anything.
"Then you and me and that little bundle of joy can leave in peace. Together just us three."
"Or.. we skip the apocalypse bit and go straight to the three of us living peacefully?"
The man stared him and scrunched up his nose.
"But Bambi, you can't live peacefully in the middle of chaos. I mean come on just look at me now."
He said falling into hysterics once more.
Harry watched him, there were moments when he felt that maybe he could get through to him, and others that made him think this was a lost cause. But if there was one thing Harry had that his friend had often pointed out, a thing that Harry hated about himself, it was that he had a hero complex. And if it was the last thing he would do he would save Sirius, even if it was from himself… even if in there end there was only one way to do that.
"I mean, if I go back, I could try and get into politics and-"
"Heeeeey, politics! Good thinking Bambi, that's reminded me of something, come on there's someone I want you to meet!"
Harry sighed, it was going to take awhile to get through the others head, and Harry was worried that time wasn't on his side.
