A Not so Different Beginning

Chapter 21

A/N hopefully when I started writing this the chapter came out soon so here is chapter 21. I don't understand but school gets my brain working again and in three days of school I feel like writing again AWESOME. So I'm glad for all the reviews so far, didn't get a few from my regulars last chapter but I guess that happens when I uploaded the thing at the end of the night and allowed a lot of other people to push me down the list again by morning. Hopefully I'll time it better this time.

"Hounds from hell, those are just legends there is no hell!" Cyril yelled at the dark dragon standing a few feet in front of him and his companions.

"Oh but it's true they fit the legends perfectly" he smirked seeing he was in total control. He could easily tell them a lie for everything they had done to him. They had wrongly convicted him and had always wanted to find a way to get them back. They ruined his life and in return he should ruin there's by giving them false information to get them killed or maimed, but his friend, all be it a friend he hadn't spoken to in years, but was still his friend and he wanted revenge for that much more right now.

Terrador understood that if they didn't listen and he was right then they might die but also knew that false information could have the same effect. He thought and finally came to a conclusion that knowing all the possibilities that may even be fake then be proven wrong and have no information at all, so he asked "Fine, tell us all you know"

"The hell hounds are a dangerous pack of four that all have specialized roles and will be brought back to Hell if they're defeated in battle and are reborn over and over again. They will to fight until either they have killed the target or their master who summoned them from the fiery underworld has been killed. The first is the Hunter. It is coal black with red eyes that see through darkness like it were in the light so it can do its job of hunting down the packs prey. They range from sizes of medium sized dogs to the size of horses from the legends, some speculate it's based on their age or the amount of hunts they have participated in a succeeded in. But for sure it generally gets stronger after a kill. Lastly the Hunter is created when a particularly strong wolf dies and is sent to Hell to continue hunting for an eternity meaning it is mostly likely the most feral of all the dogs making it more vicious but also dumber" Rorek explained remembering everything he had read before this meeting. He didn't much care for this one like the other three since it was in a way an over powered blood hound.

Terrador remembered what he could "Go on"

Rorek continued with a slight bow happy they were giving him a chance and not dismissing everything he had to say "The next one is the Reaper, it is a large wolf that's fur seems to be so dark it's like it's fur is made of shadow. They're silent and deadly and literally eat the targets soul and any other creatures they must feed on to reach their target. They gain the most power from a kill then the other three because it eats the life force of anything the pack kills. But it does a have a weakness, if it's ever killed all the souls are released and it reverts back to its original strength when it's resurrected. Reapers also have one more attribute about them that could possibly the most powerful because it doesn't hurt you but messes with your mind. It can speak in the phrases of the people it has absorbed. Meaning it can says phrases and sentences using its victims memories. Lastly Reapers are created when a sinner dies and it turned into their new dog form" He liked the Reaper the most because of the mental attacks it could send at it's opponents especially in the darkness.

All three dragons in the alley and the three on the roof gulped hearing this and waited for him to continue.

"The third is known as the Mutilator and they have that name for a reason. They're large wolf of pure muscle and power but lack any fur because they're constantly decaying. When the pack makes a kill they rip chunks off the victim and add whatever they can to their own body to replace their ever rotting bodies. The more the pack kills the more this thing can take allowing it to add layer upon layer of meat and muscle to itself. In some occasions the Mutilators have been said to rip the voice boxes and vocal chords from a victim to allow them to make choked noises and blood curdling screams and occasionally bloody sounding laughs to scare their victims. Luckily these things are easy to follow; they constantly drip blood and pieces off their bodies. Lastly Mutilators are apparently created from a sinners flesh which is why it is so driven to preserve it's self and heal itself with other bodies skin and flash like a survival instinct that any living organism has" Rorek said smirking because in a dark way he enjoyed telling that one.

His description caused all the dragons to shiver and he smirked as he prepared to describe the final hound.

"Final hound is possibly the least threatening until you see it. It's is literally a walking skeleton. It takes the bones of the packs victims but not because it loses its bones like the Mutilator just because it strengthens itself with more strong bones and also because it sometimes loses bones in fights. It can't make any noise besides the sound of bones touching the ground or each other. They're created from the bones of sinners" he said. He never liked that one it was so boring but did like the idea of a walking skeleton.

He was done and the younger dragons were still in fright from his description and the Guardians even seemed to be scared by this "What can we do against these things?" Terrador asked.

Rorek chuckled and smirked "I like how you need my help now, I think its great irony. The dragon you wrongfully convicted is now your only source of information. But forget about that right now there's two ways to defeat them. They will keep coming back and keep killing innocent victims to gain their power back until they kill their target. So the first suggestion is allowing them to kill whoever they're after, but I doubt you'd do that but remember if you do then you'll be saving more lives by allowing one to die then a bunch in their quest to kill that one person. Two have already fallen more could come. The second and probably more favorable one in your eyes is killing whoever sent them. They're connected to their master like a contract. If he or she dies then there's no reason for them to continue, they aren't working for money they are there because they were requested and with that soul dead they don't have to serve a dead master" he explained.

The Guardians all nodded and surprisingly were considering both options. Terrador then looked at Rorek again "Thank you for your assistance, we will temporarily keep the guard from searching for you"

Rorek scoffed "I knew you wouldn't show any gratitude, but I have one more thing I could help you with, and trust when I say this one is a onetime offer"

Cyril said "We won't just pardon a criminal for offering information. But whatever this second offer is why is it important enough that you must bring it up separately"

Despite how much Rorek wanted to do what he had in mind he still wanted to be free, he eyed them and said "Fine then, I guess you don't want to save one more life"

This tipped off the Guardians enough to say "Wait!" making Rorek turn smirking.

The three younger dragons were also interested, what did he mean by that?

Rorek waited as Volteer said "You… could save one more life?"

Rorek smirked and laughed loudly "Yes, I can"

Terrador said "Tell us!"

Rorek smirked a toothy grin "That will cost you my friend, and I think you know what I want"

Cyril sighed and said "I think we may have to give his pardon"

"No, he's a criminal and the fact we haven't arrested him yet should make him feel lucky" Terrador said angrily.

"Then you won't receive my help" Rorek said purposely saying it like he were disappointed.

He started walking away again unsure if they would stop him and he was almost to a corner that would lead into another alley when he heard "Fine! We will give your pardon; now tell us what you have to say"

Rorek turned in relief and said "I have one question for you then"

The Guardians didn't say anything but waited for him to continue as did the younger three up on the roof.

He held the pause for a bit longer than they expected adding to his surprise then finally said "Which one of the dead do you want to return to the living?"

Hey here's the next chapter, obviously, hope you liked it. I enjoyed writing about the hounds and I have to thanks Joelcoxriley for letting me use them. I'd also like to thank her for letting me use Rorek and for the idea right at the end. So please review, I hope you enjoyed it and feel free to check out my other stuff on my profile if you haven't yet. Until next time.
