~Wicked~
Why is a raven like a writing desk?
-The Riddle that was never meant to be solved.
The land of Oz was alight in celebration, everyone rejoiced, all feasting and dancing their worries away. But in the Great Emerald Tower, the Wizard of Oz wasn't sharing their enthusiasm...
He sat on his bogus throne, deep in thought the burden of regret heavy on his shoulders "Well, I don't know why you're so despondiary, I thought it went quite well!" Gothel laughed whole heartedly casually leaning against the throne on his right "They seem thrilled to shreds with their brains and their hearts, and this and that-" Gothel tried to cheer him up but he only stared ahead vagually almost in a daze they both glanced upwards seeing Punzei appear striding towards the two without her usual bow and grace.
Gothel stood to greet her "Oh, Miss Punzie! I thought you'd be out festivating," She chuckled lowly but Punzie looked absolutely livid holding up a green bottle almost with a backlash "This. Was Elsa's." she gritted out green eyes narrowed, North looked up with a snap of his neck blue eyes wide "What did you say?" He breathed stepping forward slowly stepping away from the throne getting closer to the witch of the North with disbelief. "It was a keepsake. It was her mothers, she told me so herself." She accused her tone getting harsher with each tone "I've only seen a little, green bottle like this one other time. It was right here, in this very room." North looked distraught slowly taking the bottle petite bottle with large shaky hands
"You offered me a drink from it." Punzie spoke without smpathy, North took a hesitent step forward "But...oh, dear Oz..." North recalled that day when he took a visit to a little munchkin land where he met the most beautiful blue eyed lady he's ever seen, who strangely resembled Elsa now that he recalled but he never knew...he couldn't belive that Elsa could be... and he remebered
Have another drink my blue eyed beauty...
He let out a small noise a cross between a groan and a sob he took a shaky breath "I am a sentimental man..." He never realised... it was so long ago, he gripped the bottle tighter to his chest "Who always longed to be...a...father." His voice broke as he fell to his knees his cobalt coloured eyes swimming in tears.
"So that was it, That's why she had such powers!" Gothel gasped unaware of the emotional crisis North was having "She was a child of both worlds!" She gasped in fascination but North cried harder, if only he tried, he blamed himself, if only he could reverse time- all that time Elsa could of been his... treated differently like a child of Oz was supposed to be treated, he could of helped her and she him.
But it was too late...
Punzie crossed her arms feeling no pity for the old man "I want you to leave Oz. I'll make the pronouncement myself: That the strains of wizardship have been too much for you and you are taking an indefinite leave of absence." When North didn't move Punzie's eye twitched "Did you hear what I said!?" She yelled at him and North jumped out his skin, startled into moving away "Y-yes your Goodness." He moved in haste away from the witch of the North.
Punzie didn't miss Gothel trying to sneak away and she turned with a knowing smirk, Gothel froze before her lip stiffened trying to give a warm smile but instead gave a grimace she tried to talk her way out of it. "Punzie, dear, I know we've had our minuscule differentiations in the past-"
"Guards!" Punzie cut her off and the Ozian guards appeared all stomping towards the two and encircled around Gothel with their staffs slammed into the ground halting any possible escape. Gothel froze awkwadly "Gothel," Punzie said slowly with a lyrical tone to her voice and an amused expression "Have you ever considered how you'd fare in captivity?" Gothel stared "What?"
"Captivity?" Punzie asked again and by Gothels blank stare she stepped forward gesturing with her hands and yelled "Prison!" As if explaining to a slow child, Gothel stuttered appalled before laughing nervously "No, Punzie you wouldn't-"
But She continued on as if Gothel hadn't spoke "Personally, I don't think you'll hold up very well. My Professional opinion is that you don't have what it takes." Gothel's grey eyes widened as what she said to Punzie at that dance many months ago was being repeated to her.
What dramatic irony?
"I hope you prove me wrong." Punzie laughed which Gothel had to smile but it was anything but happy "I doubt you will! Take her away!" The guards grabbed her and Gothel shook her head kicking and screaming "No! You can't do this to me! Let go!"
Outside in the celebration the Ozians cried out in triumph"Good news! She's Dead! The Witch of the West is dead!" They all gathered outside dancing on the yellow brick road merrily. Punzie nodded to them getting ready to make the preperations for the departue of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. "The Wickest Witch There Ever Was, The Enemy Of All Of Us, Here In Oz, Is Dead!" Punzie grabbed her wand and the Grimerie walking outside as the sunlight finally pierced the veil of the clouds,
"Good News! Good News!"
...But what no one had known that back at the castle of Kiamo Ko. The Scarecrow walked in clumisly as in search for something, warily looking around for any Guards who stayed behind, he sat on the floor looking at the sharp pointed that lay idly on the steel floor he fell to his knees his expression saddened he extended a straw filled hand and plucked the hat from the floor and held it tightly to his chest. Before he looked around the castle once more then he pulled back and slammed his palm onto the ground with a rousounding BANG twice.
"It worked!"
The trap door flew open and Elsa's little green face popped up eyes wide "Jack! I thought you'd never get here..." She trailed of eyes wide at his face, she raised a hand and carresed his straw faced cheek, his hair once chestnut brown was a light yellow from the straw but then his eyes were the same mischievous blue eyes.
"Go ahead, touch. I don't mind." Jack shrugged not fazed at all in the least, but Elsa looked in guilt and Jack saw before holding her hand over his cheek his thumb rubbing over hand "Ah, You did the best you could. You saved my life." Elsa chocked out a laugh before looking serious "You're still beautiful." Jack shook her head "You don't have to lie to me..." Elsa sat forward cupping his face and making him look at her as blue eyes met blue.
"It's not lying! it's...looking at things another way." She smiled throwing his words back at him at this Jack beamed and Elsa kissed his nose before they both stood up walking away from the trap door.
"No one mourns the Wicked...Now at least She's dead and Gone...Now At Last A Joy Throughout The Land..."
Punzie stood high on her bubble the Grimerie held tightly to her chest the last thing to remember her dear friend by, she spoke to the Ozians warmly "Fellow Ozians, Friends, We have been through a frightening time. There will be other times and other things that frighten us. But if you let me, I'd like to try to help." they all looked expectant putting their faith in the good witch. She licked her lips stealing a breath "I'd like to try to be...Punzie the Good."
"Good News!"
Jack held out his hand "It's time to go." Elsa turned sadly "We can never come back to oz, Can we?" Jack met her look seriously an expression she's rarely seen on him before "No..." Elsa nodded "I only wish..." Jack tilted his head "Wish what?" Elsa bit her lip "That...Punzie could still know...that we're alive." Jack stepped forward in a rush almost as if Elsa was going to run of to Punzie at that second he held her hand as if to anchor her "She can't know, not if we want to be safe. No one can ever know." Jack moved towards the back entrance of the castle "Come," He waited for Elsa. she was about to but instead turned back to look to the sky vaguelly wondering was this the same sky? Was Punzie under the same one as she, unaware of her being alive?
Punzie looked up to the sky too "Who can say if I've been changed for the better? but..."
Elsa smilied sadly "Because I knew you..." Jack watched with a small smile,
"No one mourns the wicked..." The Ozians sang as if to remind Punzie she wasn't allowed to mourn she couldn't grive Elsa or she'd be seen as a traitor too...
"Because I knew you...I have been changed..." Jack held his arm out that Elsa took gratefully but before they left for good they walked out the castle and Elsa froze to see someone she never expected to see on the yellow brick road. It was none other than the Cowardly Pooka who stood at the gates and gave a shy small smile "Hello, sheila..." Elsa blinked "Bunny...?"
Bunny drew close almost afraid to touch her "I-...I'm so sorry I couldn't...I just wish-" he was cut of when Elsa hugged him tightly he blinked in surprise "I'm glad you're safe..." Elsa sighed and Bunny held tighter before pulling away "I couldn't help before but I can now, my tribe is grateful to you and we have a place for you to rest." Elsa and Jack sighed with relief, Jack turned to Elsa taking her black pointed hat, the last gift and keepsake from Punzie and placed the item atop of her head.
"No one mourns the Wicked!
Wicked!
Wicked!"
The three linked arms Bunny on her right and Jack on her left as they all journeyed down the yellow brick road towards their new home...
