After the Doctor's announcement that it was almost time for River to die, Rose and John made it their mission to help him figure out how to save her. They both knew it involved preparing the sonic screwdriver to hold onto her living consciousness, but while John and the Doctor remembered using it, they had no idea how they'd made it in the first place. Rose began to see, so clearly, just how the Doctor had become the angry man she'd first met. All of his pain and loss. He'd lost his entire family, just to find a new one and then lose them as well. She was determined to change things. When the Doctor told John and Rose that it was time, they got David ready and then they went to Mickey's. This trip with River was the Doctor's alone. They'd done all they could to help and he promised to come get them as soon as he could.

When he came back he looked dreadful. Rose was patient with him, John was always there when he needed to talk. He spent a lot of time playing with David and reading in the library. He hardly uttered a word. Rose knew that if he hadn't had her, John and the baby, he would have closed off completely.

A surprise came a few months later. The Doctor, John, Rose and David stopped off in Cardiff to let the TARDIS refuel a bit. While they were out walking a blonde girl passed them, heading straight for the TARDIS. The Doctor stopped, turned around in shock. "Jenny?"

The blonde girl stopped and looked at him for a while, then looked at John, who shook his head, then she looked at the Doctor again. "Dad?"

The Doctor nodded and started running in her direction. He picked the girl up and swung her around. "Jenny! How are you here? You died on Messaline!"

"My regeneration just took a while to kick in. You were already gone when I woke up, so I've been traveling all over the universe, doing quite a lot of running." She smiled.

"You regenerated? Why do you look the same?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe it's because I'm a generated anomaly?" she said, sticking her tongue out at him. He laughed. Jenny looked over his shoulder and saw John and Rose watching the scene in surprise.

"Dad, if you're you, then who is that then?" she asked, pointing at John.

The Doctor turned and saw the others watching the reunion with a smile. "That's John Smith." He told her. "He's an anomaly too." He winked at her. "He's also technically met you because he used to be me too. And this.." he said motioning at Rose, "Rose Tyler, meet Jenny….my daughter. Jenny, Rose Tyler."

"You're Rose! Donna told me about you! Dad, when did you find her again? Oh and who is this little guy?" she asked, making cooing noises at David.

"That is John and Rose's son" the Doctor told her. "I guess in a way he's your cousin."

"He's a Time Lord." Jenny said, smiling.

"That is a long, complicated story…" Rose told her.

Jenny cleared her throat. "It seems as though I've missed out on quite a lot. Maybe we should go get a bite to eat and have a chat, hmm?" She bent over and took the baby from his stroller. "What's his name?"

"David" Rose told her.

"Well hello, David. I'm your cousin Jenny. Let's go... or as our dads used to say Allons-y!" the Doctor and John grinned and looked at Rose, who had a big smile on her face. She looked at the Doctor, then took John's arm in hers and started following the Doctor, Jenny and David.
