An Tales de Aurora Alden

It was three months after Cassie's first birthday; my mother had opened both mine and Arthur's eyes to some facts. The court was anxious for me to be with child again, however I wanted to wait until Cassie was a tad bit older before adding another child to the mix. Arthur complete agreed with me after spending an entire day chasing Cassie around the training yard, especially with the fact there was a chance of twins.

However, after visiting Gaius after spending a whole three day and half in bed ill, I found out some one had other ideas plans for me and Arthur, I was with child again. I went down to the kitchen and asked the cook if she could make some of Arthur's favorites dishes for dinner. Once I had that squared away, I went back to mine and Arthur's chambers to looking for the forest green dress with brown leafs sewed onto it, Arthur had loved it when I wore it for one of the many celebrations.

I had started wearing more earthy colors as a nod to Druantia, those only my close trusted family knew, Uther and his court were in the dark. Morgana and I had been going out to the estate once a month, which was made into common ground, private land under Camelot protection, to practice our magic under my mother's watchful eye. With my magic expanding, I could now sense the new baby inside of me.

As the day went by I got thing's sorted for the dinner. I took Cassie out after lunch to my parents estate to spend the night so Arthur and me could have time alone. I stopped by the council room where Arthur was meeting with his father, my father and the council about doing some work on the cottage we stayed at, so he could say goodbye to Cassie.

I was motioned in by Uther. I walked to stand near Arthur who smiles when he looked up at me while plucking Cassie from my arms.

"If you're willing to go fifty-fifty on this project James, I believe we can agree to what Aurora's draws show," stated Uther.

"You have a deal Uther. Besides it gives Arthur and Rora somewhere to get away with Cassie," replied my father.

They went on to discuss the timeline while Arthur leads us to a more private area.

"Why did you come down here with Cassie?" he asked. "Not that I don't mind."

"I was going to take Cassie out to my parents and let her spend the night out there, so we could have a night to our self," I explained. "I thought you would like to say goodbye before we left."

"What did Gaius say when you went to visit him about be sick?" he questioned.

"How did you know?"

"Christina told me she saw you going into Gaius this morning after I left for training. Last time we did this conversation I started finding baby thing's in my desk and wardrobe, so spill Rora."

"Cassie say bye-bye to daddy and we'll go out and see your grandmother," I stated avoided Arthur's question.

"Bye-bye daddy," she said as I took her from Arthur's arms.

"Bye princess," he said. "We'll talk later Ro. Be careful."

"I'll see you at dinner."

We shared a kiss before I headed out to my waiting horse. Once I had Cassie settle in front of me on the horse, I left heading for my parents home. I spent quite a bit of time there chatting with my mother, who was thrilled to hear that I was child again.

"I can sense a baby, but I can't sense another," She said after resting her hand on my slight bump. "I can't what gender it is yet."

"Another Pendragon, if this one is anything like Arthur, me, or Cassie, Camelot will not survive," I replied.

"I think Camelot will survive. But it will calm the council for a while."

"And to think in a few more months me and Arthur will be married for two years."

"Now you need to break the news to Arthur."

I smiled putting my hands on my belly. After spending another hour, I headed out to return to Camelot. I headed up and changed into the dress quickly while Katherine and Gwen set the table. Thankfully Uther was keeping Arthur busy until he was told thing's were ready. The candles were lit I sat down at my place at the table. The door soon opened and in walked Arthur with Merlin behind him. Arthur stopped and looked at the table.

"Well, I don't think I'll need you tonight merlin. You can go help Gaius," he told Merlin.

"Alright," said Merlin. "Goodnight sire, my lady."

"Goodnight Merlin," I said.

Arthur came over to the table and looked at it and then me.

"What are you up to?" he asked.

"I told when I left with Cassie," I told him.

"You're wearing a formal gown, candles are lit on the table and dinner is here. What is going on Aurora?"

"I thought we could celebrate. Now sit, relax, and eat."

"Celebrate what?"

"Arthur, I'll tell you once you sit and start eating."

He sat down and started to dig in to the food. I asked about his day and he asked about mine. I looked up at Arthur about half way through dinner to see him taking a sip of his ale, a good time to tell him about the baby.

"I'm with child again Arthur," I stated.

I watched him choke on his ale.

"Ro, did I hear you right? You're with child again," he questioned.

"Yes you did Arthur. I'm with child again."

"I thought…"

I looked down at my plate and my thought went to Arthur not wanting the babies.

"So you don't want it?"

I looked back up at him to see him glaring at me.

"Of course I want them. For god sake Rora, why would I not want our child? Don't ever think that again, I'm not cold like my father," he retorted.

I looked toward the door wondering if there were guards outside it, listening to us.

"There's no guards outside the door. They're stationed down past the nursery door."

"I can sense them with my magic, those I did visit Gaius to make it seem normal. Now that I'm exploring it bit. I asked Mother if she could sense the gender, but it's too early, a possible heir that you need. The court will be happy."

He got up and came to kneel next to me.

"That can wait until I'm king. They're our child, our little one first and foremost. If the court doesn't like it then they'll have to fight me on it. Now, I couldn't be more happy that we're adding to our family. Now let's celebrate."

I smiled as we leaned in for a kiss. I could tell he was thrilled that we were expanding our family. But I had a concern, where on earth were we going to put our little one when they came.

"Arthur?" I asked as I laid in our bed waiting for him to join me.

"Yes my lovely wife," he replied from the changing screen.

"Cassie's still sleeping in a cradle in the nursery. Where are we going to put he or she when they arrive?"

He came out from behind the screen and stood at the foot of our bed.

"We'll need more space that's for sure, we'll have to speak with my father and find out. We'll worry about that later. After we tell Cassie she's going to be a big sister."

"Alright."

He walked over to his side of the bed and climbed in. he leaned over and pressed a kiss to my temple before he kissed my lips.

"Let's get some rest. It's going be busy with celebrations, announcements, etc."

"Yes, I know. Tomorrow let's go out and get Cassie together."

"Right after breakfast we'll go and get her, but now it's time for sleep."

After that we fell asleep in each other arms. I couldn't wait to tell Cassie.

The next morning, after Aurora got sick, I watched her do her hair in the single braid that she wore it in when going riding but this time it had a Camelot red ribbon braided in. once she was nearly done I went up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist and was surprised to find a small bump.

"Isn't it a bit early for a bump?" I asked.

"Not really, I had a bump right around this time with Cassie those it was a bit less noticeable," she replied.

"Are you sure? There that chance of twins Aurora."

"I'm not sure, but I can't sense another baby besides the one I can sense. Don't worry Arthur I'll tell you if anything changes."

"I always worry about you. You're my wife and the mother of our children."

She turned around in my arms and leaned up and kissed me.

"Just like I always worry about you, husband."

I smiled and pressed my lips to hers.

"Love you Ro."

"Love you too Artie."

"Don't call me that."

She stepped out of my arms.

"Alright I won't call you Artie, prat."

"I am not a prat."

I followed her out of our room as she giggled. We headed down to our horses so we could go retrieve our kitten. We rode to the top of the hill and saw Cassie playing with her aunt's and uncle's. We rode down the hill and dismounted our horse at the barn before I was attacked by Cassie.

"Papa!" she shouted happily.

I looked down at her, attached to my right leg.

"Good morning Kitten. Did you behave for your grandparents?" I asked bending over to pick her up.

"She was a good girl just like her parents. We need to talk those," stated Elizabeth. "Astra take your siblings and niece to the grove and help your father with some picking."

"Of course mother," answered Astra.

I attempted to hand Cassie over to Astra, but she wouldn't have it.

"What's wrong Kitten you don't want to pick Apples with your grandfather?" I asked.

"Spend time with you," she said.

"When we're done talking with grandmother, we'll spend all day with you kitten," stated Aurora. "Right now we don't need you under foot."

"Promise?"

"Promise Kitten," I replied kissing her on top her head.

I handed her over to Astra and watched has the group left to find my father-in-law in the apple grove. We followed Elizabeth into the house and sat down in living room.

"Cassie has magic. She stole your father gingersnap last night by floating it. Something you did young lady," stated Elizabeth.

I looked over at Aurora. Aurora had warned me that one if not multiple of our children might have magic. it wasn't even a bigger possibility knowing Aurora was Druantia.

"Rora did you know about this before now?" I asked.

She looked over at me.

"I would have said something to you," she said.

"I know I'm just…"

"Scared. We all know Uther's track record with Children. If Cassie's taught properly, she'll be able to control her magic," explained Aurora.

"Aurora's right but right now she's a little young and she won't understand the rules. I've put a block on her magic, so she can't use it and risking Uther seeing. When she's a bit older we'll start teaching her," said Elizabeth.

"You told me that exploring your magic helped," I said Aurora.

"I grew up in a small farming Village Arthur not a castle. My magic has hidden naturally situations. I don't think Uther is going to believe another lightening strike through the window story," she replied.

"Right, I forgot that you weren't always a princess," I retorted.

She shook her head at me before turning back to the door.

"We should be heading off. We have to break the news to Cassie."

I followed her out and down to the apple grove where we collected our daughter and soon we were off to the meadow where we took Cassie. Once we arrived at the meadow we set Cassie down and she was off to the steam while we slowly followed her.

"How do you think she going take this?" I asked.

"I don't know," replied Aurora. "We can only hope for the best."

We reached the steam to find Cassie standing in the water tossing rocks.

"What are you doing kitten?" I questioned.

"Me want to skip wocks wike you," she replied frowning at me.

I had to smile at her. Cassie was still learning to talk and it was cute to listen to her. I knelt down to her level.

"I see. How about after we have a family talk I'll teach how to skip rocks?"

"Okay."

I stood back, picking up Cassie as I went and followed to where Aurora had sat on log watching us. Cassie started wiggling out of my arms and reaching for Aurora as I got closer. I put her down and she took off to her mama.

XXX

I Watched Cassie come running to me, I picked her once was close and sat her in my lap while Arthur made his way to us. Cassie was always a bit more cuddling after she was away from us for some time, especially when Arthur would be away for days on patrols.

"Me miss you mama," she said as placed a kiss on top of her head.

"I missed you too, kitten," I replied.

Arthur took a place next to me and Cassie. Cassie crawled out of my lap and into Arthur's. I watched as Arthur pressed another kiss onto her head.

"We have something to tell you and we need you to listen Cassie," stated Arthur.

She nodded her head and I continued the conversation.

"How would you like to be a big sister?" I questioned.

"Big sistwa?" she questioned turning her head sideways. "wat dat?"

"Well, a big sister is an older sibling, like your mama, she's a big sister to your aunt Astra, aunt Chrissy, and uncle Quin," explained Arthur. "and that's what your going to be soon, a big sister."

"What we're saying Cassie is that…I'm with child…you is getting a little sibling in nine months time," I said not sure if Cassie was going to understand.

We both watched her reaction with baited breathe. She looked between us unsure of wat to make of it. I looked up at Arthur and we both knew that we would have to see where this went. Arthur got up and walked her back to the steam and started touching her how to skip rocks, only for her to get frustrate when she couldn't do it like him.

At that point we decided to head back to Camelot and spend the day with Cassie and prepare for the announcements and feast that would happen. After dinner that night we put Cassie down in her cradle together and watched her for a moment. As we entered back into our chamber, that's when Arthur expressed his one rule.

"I don't want you to go on any crazy adventure's this time. I can't go through you going missing while your with child again. Am I clear?" he said pointing his finger at me.

"Arthur I had to help…" I started but he cut me off.

"No Aurora, I don't want you to go off into the forest and get hurt again. Do you understand, It's the one thing I'm ordering you to do, no adventure's that put you or our unborn child at risk."

"Yes Arthur, I understand."

"Good. Now how about we get ready for bed. We have long day ahead of us."

I smiled and headed for the changing screen to do exactly that exhausted from chasing Cassie all day.

XXX

It had been two days after Aurora told me about the baby, we had told our families about the baby as well as the council. We were now getting ready to tell the people of Camelot. I was looking over a document while I waited on Aurora and Cassie.

It was going to be the first time we were Cassie out on the balcony during a royal announcement. Aurora wanted Cassie to have a normal childhood. She wanted Cassie to have the best of both worlds, to be more level head than I hadn't been. Cassie had the title princess of Camelot, but it was only to be used when other royals were visiting.

I heard the nursery door open and looked over to see Cassie holding onto Morgana's hand. Her curling blonde hair was pulled into a simple braid that was tied off with a sky blue ribbon. She was wearing a small version of one of Aurora's red gowns.

"Well don't you look pretty?" I said watching her let go of morgana's hand.

She walked over to me, while I picked her up; Aurora came out from behind the changing screen in a similar gown to Cassie's, but in sky blue. Her hair was pulled back into a matching hair net and her silver circlet over it. She was slipping on her wedding ring and fixing her sleeves. The bump of where our child laid seen even more clearly, which made us both firmly believe that she was carrying more than one baby this time.

"Mama pwetty," she shouted in my ear.

It was a new favorite thing for Cassie to do.

"Cassandra, we don't shout in doors," scolded Aurora. "or in peoples ears. Apologize to your father."

"sowwy papa," she said quietly.

"Apology accepted."

At that points Aurora was taking Cassie out of my arms. It had been advised that Aurora hold Cassie on the balcony.

"I agree with our daughter by the way, you're pretty," I said.

"Thank you. We should get going go. I haven't been feeling well this morning and I don't want to ruin the announcement," she replied.

I nodded; knowing this time around was more difficult on Aurora. We had planned a trip to Ibelle, but Aurora had been extremely ill just before the trip that we decided not go. Aurora was doing a bit better but I was still bad most of the time. We walked down to the balcony where we found Aurora's dad muttering about something with my father.

"You are married to a princess James," said my father. "You did fall for her quite literally."

"Thanks for reminding me," replied James.

I leaned down to Aurora's ear and whispered in it.

"There's a story there isn't there?"

"I'll tell you later."

Soon we were walking out onto the balcony, my arm around Aurora's waist as we waved to the people.

XXX

I held onto Cassie, who was not having a pleasant time. She buried her face into my shoulder and was wimping. I had stopped waving to comfort her. She, at this time, had only been to Council meeting and some feast, but this was nearly all of Camelot. I knew it was the cheering that was getting to her. She didn't like loud noises, thunderstorms had her in Arthur's arms, but the training yard was fine.

Mother told me it could be because she sees where the clanking of weapons was coming from, but thunder she couldn't see. This was a mix of loud noise and shyness.

"Mama…" she whimpered.

"It's okay kitten, we're almost done," I said to her rubbing her back gently.

I felt my stomach flip and twist and I knew what was coming. I nudged Arthur before looking up at him. He only needed one glance to know me and Cassie weren't happy and needed to go inside. He gently lead us back inside where I passed Cassie off to him and ran for the nearest private room with a chamber pot, which was near by. I threw up once before I heard the door open and felt my hair being gathered up.

The person started rubbing my back gently and I knew it was Arthur.

"Where's Cassie? I asked between throwing up.

"With your mother, I didn't want you alone," he replied.

My stomach finally emptied it self and I was too tired too walk back up to our chambers, Arthur scooped me up and carried me up to our room where I could rest. With the help of my maid, I was dressed in my night dress. I lay in our bed with my eyes shut until I heard Arthur telling Cassie to be quiet as he set her at the feet of our bed. She always snuggled with me after I was ill and I enjoyed the time I had with her.

I popped an eye open to see Arthur watching us before he went off to attend to his duties.

"I love you Rora," he whispered.

"Love you too Arthur," I whispered back.

At that point I was out, sleeping with my little kitten curled into my side.

I apologize for the wait. Unfortunately, some of the causes for this delayed were not in my control.

Thank you for sticking through it.
