"Jayheart may I speak with you?"

The grey tabby she-cat turned to look at the speaking cat in surprise. The dark brown tom had talked to her a few time before in the past but he was always so polite and formal despite his fearsome reputation. Jayheart gave a nod, "Uh-sure. What do you want to talk about?"

"Well I wanted to congratulate you on becoming a warrior." The tom dipped his head respectfully.

"Oh! Thank you. I really appreciate it." Her face was one of surprise and embarrasment.

The tom regarded her before meowing, "I hear you and your sister did a great job on your assessment. Your mother must be proud."

Jayheart flushed. Why was he curious about her mother's opinion?She replied, "Th-thank you. And she is very proud of us."

He nodded, "That is good to hear. Will she be attending the next gathering?"

Jayheart gave the tom a confused look before replying, "Maybe. Amberstar normally tells everyone the day before. Is there something you want to tell her?"

He shook his head, "It would be something only she would understand."

"Why? Did you used to be friends?" Jayheart asked in confusion.

The tom hesitated before nodding, "Of sorts yes. Don't worry about it. Have a good day."

He turned and walked away from the she-cat. His thoughts were in a whirl. He heard her call out a goodbye but continued walking deeper into Darkclan's territory. He made his way into camp and watched as nearby cats moved to give him a wider berth. Ignoring them he turned right and hoped onto the stump. He walked into a dark, cozy den where a tom that looked almost exactly like him sat.

"Where were you Coldfang?" the green eyes of the other cat watched him carefully.

Coldfang sighed, "I went for a walk."

"At Stormclan's boarder correct?" At Coldfang's silence the green eyed tom sighed, "I know this sucks but you must stop. I know you have always put the clan first but I am concerned."

"Pinestar you have no room to speak."

"Oh really? Do you not think that I may have other concerns? My deputy was missing for days! And furthermore Stormclan's apprentice was also missing for the same amount of time. That is one problem along with the sighting of rogues in our territory. And as if those issues weren't enough I still have to ensure our clan is safe and well fed along with proving that Littlestar's damage to the clan has already been taken care of and we don't need help!"

"I know this! I am trying to help but you aren't letting anyone help you! Your own mate is in the nursery instead of here."

"Do not bring Ravensong into this."

"Why not? She is almost alone caring for your kits while you sit in here trying to hold the clan together. I am saying this not as a clan mate but as your littermate."

Pinestar was silent for a while before shaking his head, "She and the kits are strong and doing just fine. Besides I don't want my kits to be aware of what's going on."

"Pinestar they are almost six moons. You can't protect them forever." Coldfang sighed and shook his head.

Pinestar nodded somberly. "You are right but they are my kits. Now please, no more wandering off. I need you here."

Coldfang frowned, "Are you going to replace Nightfrost?"

Pinestar shrugged, "Maybe. I don't know yet. I need Blackpoppy to tell me what's going on."

"Do you want me to gather some information from our clan mates?"

"Yes. I want to know who they would want to be leader. I already have Springfeet and Owlwing looking into it."

"I shall be just another set of ears then. When do you want a report?"

"The night before the gathering."

"Consider it done." Coldfang dipped his head before leaving the den.

So initially this chapter had a different route but its fine. I know it is short but next chapter will be longer. I am also sorry it took so long to update but life has been busy and I haven't had time to write.

I did create a forum but not for these clans because of timeline issues. i want to complete the story before making a forum due to spoilers. The forum I do have is called "Moonclan, Skyclan, and Sunclan RPG" if you want to check it out.

*Fun Fact: Pinestar has to essentially prove that Darkclan is innocent of Littlestar's crimes and feels the pressure daily.
