Enter Kyp, in the garden of Githany, beyond shadows.
Kyp digs a hole in Githany's garden and pours a goblet of Corellian wine into it.
Kyp. Let the dead taste again. Let them rise and take this offering. Vima-Da-Boda, show yourself.
Enter the ghost of Ahsoka Tano.
Ahsoka. But . . .
Ghost. Don't summon our mother, Kyp. She is the one spirit you are forbidden to see.
Kyp. Why? What's our father hiding?
Ghost. Pain. Hatred. A curse that stretches back to the Great Prophecy.
Kyp. What do you mean? I have to know.
Ghost. The knowledge will only hurt you. Remember what I said: holding grudges is a fatal flaw for children of Bogan.
Kyp. I know that. But I'm not the same as I used to be, Ahsoka. Stop trying to protect me.
Ghost. Brother. You don't understand . . .
Kyp swipes Ahsoka's ghost away.
Exit Ahsoka.
Kyp. Vima-Da-Boda. Speak to me.
Kyp flow-walks back sixty-four years, in New Republic City.
Enter Vima-Da-Boda and Bogan, speaking as a younger Kyp and Ahsoka play nearby.
Bogan. [to Vima] Please, my dear. You must come beyond shadows. I don't care what Githany thinks. I can keep you safe there.
Vima. No, my love. Raise our children in the Netherworld of the Force? Vima will not do this.
Bogan. Vima. Listen to me. The war in Sith Space has turned the other Je'daii against me. A prophecy has been made. My children are no longer safe. Vader and Sekot have forced me into an agreement. None of us are to have demigod children ever again.
Vima. But you already have Kyp and Ahsoka. Surely . . .
Bogan. No. The prophecy warns of a child who turns sixteen. Sekot has decreed that the children I currently have must be turned over to the Jedi Praxeum for proper training. But I know what he means. At best they'll be watched, imprisoned, turned against their father. Even more likely, he will not take a chance. He won't allow my demigod children to reach sixteen. He'll find a way to destroy them. And I won't risk that.
Vima. [in Huttese] Of course. [in Basic] We will stay together. Sekot is an imbecile.
Bogan glances around nervously.
Bogan. Vima, please. I told you, Sekot gave me a deadline of last week to turn over the children. His wrath will be horrible. And I cannot hide you forever. As long as you are with the children, you are in danger too.
Vima. [smiles] You are a Je'daii, my love. You will protect us. But Vima will not take Kyp and Ahsoka to the Netherworld.
Bogan. Then there is another option. I know a place in the Outer Rim where time stands still. I could send the children there, just for a while, for their own safety. And we could be together. I will build you a golden palace by the Pool of Knowledge.
Vima. [laughs] You are a kind man, my love. A generous man. The other Je'daii should see you as I do, and they would not fear you so. But Kyp and Ahsoka need their mother. Besides, they are only children. The Je'daii wouldn't really hurt them.
Bogan. You don't know my family. Please, Vima, I can't lose you.
Vima. You will not lose me. Wait for me while I get my purse. Watch the children.
Vima kisses Bogan.
As Vima moves away, Bogan and his children tense as they sense a disturbance in the Force.
Bogan leaps to his feet.
Bogan. No.
From far off on Tython, Sekot fires a lightning blast, which blasts the area apart and kills Vima-Da-Boda.
Bogan cradles Vima's body.
Enter Asajj.
Bogan shakes his fist in Sekot's direction.
[angry] Sekot. I will crush you for this. I will bring her back.
Asajj. My lord, you cannot. You of all immortals must respect the laws of death.
Bogan glows with rage, then manages to regain control.
Bogan. [chokes back a sob] Take them. Wash their memories clean in the Mists of Forgetfulness and bring them to Sinkhole Station. Sekot will not harm them there.
Asajj. As you wish, my Lord. And the woman's body?
Bogan. [bitter] Take her as well. Give her the ancient rites.
Exit Asajj, with Kyp and Ahsoka.
Enter a twelve-year-old Prophet of Yavin.
Prophet. I warned you.
Bogan. [angry] You dare come here? I should blast you to dust.
Prophet. You cannot. The power of Yavin protects me.
Bogan. You've killed the woman I loved. Your prophecy brought us to this.
Prophet. Sekot ordained the explosion to destroy the children because you defied his will. I had nothing to do with it. And I did warn you to hide them sooner.
Bogan. I couldn't. Vima would not let me. Besides, they were innocent.
Prophet. Nevertheless, they are your children, which makes them dangerous. Even if you put them away in Sinkhole Station, you only delay the problem. Kyp and Ahsoka will never be able to rejoin the galaxy lest they turn sixteen.
Bogan. Because of your so-called Great Prophecy. And you have forced me into an oath to have no other children. You have left me with nothing.
Prophet. I foresee the future. I cannot change it.
Bogan's scarlet eyes glow with the dark side.
Bogan. Then, Prophet, hear the words of Bogan. Perhaps I cannot bring back Vima. Nor can I bring you an early death. But your soul is still mortal, and I can curse you.
The Prophet's eyes widen.
Prophet. You would not . . .
Bogan. I swear as long as my children remain outcasts, as long as I labor under the curse of your Great Prophecy, the Prophet of Yavin will never have another mortal host. You will never rest in peace. No other will take your place. Your body will wither and die, and still the Prophet's spirit will be locked inside you. You will speak your bitter prophecies until you crumble to nothing. The Prophet will die with you.
With the power of the dark side, Bogan curses the Prophet of Yavin, who screams in agony.
Kyp flow-walks sixty-four years to the present, beyond shadows.
Enter Bogan.
And just what do you think you're doing?
Exit all.
