"Here we trace all shadowhunting families and their members.", he said.
Clary looked closely to some of the names, recognising the Lightwoods. Before she could comment on whether her mother's family is somewhere there, she saw all silent brothers in the room stood abruptly.
"What happened?", she asked alarmed.
"Something isn't right.", Brother Jeremiah said.
Clary made to follow as the brothers silently vanished through the door but Brother Jeremiah held her back.
"Clary, go back to your room and stay there, no matter what you hear. I'm going to have someone pick you up from there.".
"But…Wait!", Clary didn't manage to finish her sentence. Brother Jeremiah was already gone.
She went out of the room into the dark corridor.
Everything was eeriely quiet. Clary tried to follow after a white robe that she assumed was a silent brother, but upon reaching a turn she realised she was completely alone once again.
She quickly made her way through the Silent City, not even sure where she was or where her room was. All corridors looked the same.
Clary whispered a curse then decided to just keep moving.
She came to a stop at some point and decided to wait inside a big amphitheater, that looked less dusty than other rooms, meaning it was probably used often and more likely to come across someone here.
She sat on a marble bench, her worry increasing now that she wasn't moving.
She absent-mindly focused on her parabatai rune, a habit she was loathing but had come to accept, mostly out of curiosity exploring the feelings that the rune caused her, and training to distance herself from them.
But this time there wasn't the usual emptiness and longing coming from it.
"Shit..", she muttered, as she was filled with a painstaking feeling of her other half being really really close.
And he could probably locate her easily.
Jace kicked open the door and hurriedly entered what was Clary's room in the Silent City.
"Are you ready to go..", he asked before realising that Clary wasn't inside.
"Jace?", asked Isabelle when she saw him freeze mid sentence.
"She isn't here.", he said. "But the brothers said..", started Alec but Jace interrupted him.
"She Isn't HERE!", he said louder this time.
"We'll find her.", said Alec trying to calm down Jace who was visibly shaking now.
"He will find her first! They have this stupid part-parabatai-part-sick-psycho connection. Why on earth didn't I stay with her at all times?", Jace muttered.
Isabelle glanced knowingly at Alec. They both could hear the regret and guilt in Jace's voice.
"Clary is not a baby. She can protect herself.", Isabelle tried.
Jace stormed off the room ignoring her. He would not lose Clary again.
Clary carefully crept along the dark corridors, taking the route that made her feel farther away from Jonathan. This was not how she had planned their reunion. She let her guard down and now she was practically weaponless and lost in the excessively huge Silent City. The fact that she never came across anyone was disturbing.
"I hope you are done playing hide and seek.", she suddenly heard Jonathan's voice behind her.
She internally swore. How did he find her? She thought he was much more distance away.
"I am looking for the weapons' room and actually avoiding you.", she said angrily.
"I realised the last part. But now your happy holidays with your friends are over and you will once again come with me, willing or not.", he said, his voice threatening.
"I'd rather die.", Clary declared.
"You are completely ungrateful. I left you alone for months, after you defied me. I am being good. Unless you want me to take more drastic measures to ensure you are coming along with me, now.", he said, his dark eyes fixing on Clary's.
"Still, I'd rather die. The plan is to at least try and kill you as well.", said Clary, feeling less brave than she sounded.
Jonathan moved closer to her and she gasped when she saw he was covered in blood.
"Why is there so much blood on you?", she asked despite being afraid that she won't like the answer.
"Took me a while to find you. I was told you would be in a particular room, didn't find you there so I assumed I had been lied to. You can imagine I got very annoyed.", Jonathan casually replied.
"Did you kill a silent brother?", Clary asked aghast.
"I killed all of them, Clary.", he said, grinning.
"They hid you from me. They know too much.", he continued as he approached her.
"So tell me, did you get your memories back? I can make you feel so much better.", he whispered in her ear, and Clary shivered.
"No.", she said. "You can probably get your way through runic tricks. I am well over this. Just remember, that no matter how many runes you scratch on my skin, I will NEVER feel more than hate towards you.", Clary let plenty of venom to colour her voice.
Jonathan's face twisted from anger.
"You Are Mine.", he said.
