Chapter 21
Two months have pass since Trina and Joshua's disappearance and although everyone was glad the trouble couple was absent, Corey and Laney were still not convince. In fact, they're not even letting their guard down. But hopefully today will be all right for them for in just a few hours, their drummer Kon will be getting married to Bridgette.
Corey was with Darryl, Kin and some other of their friends to support Kon while Laney was with some other females at the church for they were all Bridgette's bridesmaids. Bridgette was so excited, but she was also nervous. For saying yes to the guy she planned on loving with the rest of her life was nerve wrecking especially the fact that it could end with a divorce. She can be seen standing in front of a mirror practicing saying "I Do" when she got to the end of that aisle.
"I Do," she said to herself. "I Do. I Do." Laney came in the room and was standing by her side. "Stop worrying so much," she said to the bride-to-be.
"Oh come on Laney," Bridgette said to her bridesmaid. "You wasn't this nervous when you and Corey got married?"
"Well…not all the way nervous. But…"
"Uh-Huh."
"But don't worry about mine and Corey's wedding. Just worry about today."
"Do you think Kon have cold feet?"
"Relax. I'm sure Kon is right now getting ready for you and his special day." A knock soon can be heard on the door.
"Who is it?" Laney asked.
"I'll give you a hint," that familiar voice said. The door open and Laney and Bridgette was surprised that it was Bernadette. The three females got up and prepare to hug her, but stop seeing a cute little baby in her arms.
"I'm so glad to made it," Bridgette said.
"Me too," Bernadette said.
"Wait a minute," Laney said noticing the baby. "Who is this cute thing right here?"
"Everyone, this is Tyler," Bernadette answered. "Mine and Nick's son together." That's right. While the couple was in Baltimore, the two had welcome their first born son. Bridgette and Laney were so touched by this. "Oh my God. That's so amazing," Bridgette said. "Congratulations you two."
"So is Nick with the guys?" Laney asked.
"Yeah," Bernadette answered. "He should be there by now."
…
"I'm so nervous," Kon said. Back at his place, the soon-to-be husband is seen pasting in place. Corey, his twin brother Kin, Darryl and some of his other friends are at his place, helping him get ready for his wedding.
"Easy Kon," Corey said to his friend. "You stressing out is not doing anything." Corey is Kon's best man. Although Kin was supposed to be the best man, he turned it down so Kon decided to give it to Corey.
"Come on Corey. You wasn't this stress out when you and Laney got married?"
"Listen I'm not saying that it is easy, but you have to be okay and one thing I did learn from marrying Laney is that as long as you remember what you're marrying the girl you love and put God in your marriage, you two will live happily ever after."
Kon knew Corey was right. "Yeah. You're right," he said. "Thanks Corey. For being there."
"Okay guys," their friend Steve came in the room. All the guys are supposed to be in tuxedos with dark red jackets, matching ties, black pants and white shirts along with black shoes and all the girls are supposed to be wearing dresses similar to that. Kon was just in an old T-shirt that was covered in sweat and a pair of Adidas sweatpants.
"Now you're not planning on wearing that for the wedding right?" Corey jokily asked.
"Very funny."
"Kon why aren't you getting dress man?" Steve asked. "Dude, it's your wedding."
"You guys are right," Kon answered. "I'm getting ready right now."
"You got the ring?" Kin asked. Kon realized that he doesn't know where the ring. "Where is it?"
"Kon don't tell me you lost the ring," Corey said.
"No I didn't lose it. I probably just misplaced it or something." Kon rushed over to his jacket which was in the kitchen. The drummer searched everywhere on the jacket, but finally found it. Kon let out a sigh of relieved. "Okay now all I got to do is get dress," he said to himself.
"I honestly don't understand here," Kin said. "That thing is so small, I'm surprised you didn't loss it."
"What are you talking about?" Kon asked.
"It even looks fake to me." Kin takes the ring and holds it up in front of a window to get a good look at it. But as the guys were focusing on Kin, they paid little attention to Nick Mallory, who snick in the back door. "It looks like generic Cuban zirconium."
"Surprise," Nick said when he placed his hand on one of Kin's shoulders. Kin got so surprised by this that he ending up dropping the ring down the drain in the sink. "Nick Mallory wants to surprise the gloom-to-be."
…
After the ring was dropped down the sing, Steven was now working on the plumbing trying to get it out. "Nick Mallory wants to apologized to Kin and Kon," Nick said.
"That's okay Nick," Kon said. "You didn't know he had the ring in his hand."
"I'm surprised he didn't know," Kin said. "I mean it was obvious I was holding something in my hand when I was raising it up."
"So how are things with you and Bernadette now, Nick?" Corey asked. Nick began explaining how he and Bernadette loving life in Baltimore and that they recently welcome a new baby boy. All the guys were all saying congrats and good. Eventually, steven got up from underneath the sink.
"I found something," he went.
"The ring?" Kon asked.
"No. Just a piece of candy." Steven then blow on it and got a piece of hair off it before eating it right in front of the guys, who were disgusted by this.
"That's just nasty," Kin said. "Nick Mallory agree," Nick said who still talks in the 3rd person.
"Don't worry everybody," Stevne said. "Cause look what I found." He pulls out the ring and Kon was so excited. Soon he got all his stuff on and was now ready to get married.
"Hey Kon. I have to take C.J. to my mother's house right quick," Corey said holding C.J. in his hands.
"Okay but remember I need you to escort me," Kon said.
"Listen man. I'm very proud of you and I wish yoy and Bridgette the best of luck."
"Thanks Corey."
Corey carried C.J. into the car and began making his way to his mother's house. But little does he know is that an unknown black car was right behind him. The driver was none other than Joshua.
…
Corey called Laney while driving. "Hey Core," Laney answered.
"Hey I'm on my way to drop off C.J. right now," Corey said. "Did you set the alarm before you left the house?"
Ever since C.J. was kidnapped by Trina and Joshua, the couple have stepped up their alarm system and all they have to do is just to remember to set up the alarm. In which Laney forgot to do.
"Oh my God. I forgot to do that."
"Don't worry Lanes. After I drop off C.J., I'll swing over the house right quick."
"No. Don't. You have to escort Kon plus I'm just like 15 minutes away. I'll do it." Laney got into her call and driive back to the house. But at their house, someone was breaking in the house. It was Trina.
Okay everyone. I'll update a new chapter by next week. But I gotta say…it's going to be intense in the next chapter. But what will happen? Stay tune.
