Chapter 21

Naruto ran down the narrow white corridor, as he did he noticed something in his periphial vision. He stopped and turned to see what he had noticed. It was a piece of glass fitted into the wall. On the other side of the wall were two familiar figures. His parents.

"Mom. Dad." Minato had his arm around Kushina, finally there together. Naruto put his hand against the wall, trying to reach through to his parents. His dad put his hand up to meet his. Kushina looked at the two hands joined and gave her son a warm smile. He had made the right decision letting them go, now they can be together. They remained still for a couple of moments.

Minato gave his son a nod and started to fade away as the glass part of the wall faded back into white to match the wall. Naruto held back tears, I will see them again, after all I still have to make them proud by becoming hokage!

Naruto turned to face the end of the corridor and suddenly a bright light blinded him. A force pushed him to the ground, he put his hand in front of him and he fell to the ground. The same force seemed to keep him stuck to the ground as objects flew around above him, voices flew back and forth in the corridor and wind whirled around everywhere.

Suddenly it all stopped. Woah, what was that? Did I get out of Obitos genjutsu? But how? That could only have happened if he released it. Naruto smiled. "He understood."

Naruto rubbed his eyes and sat up to find himself in a dimly lit room. He swung his leg over the side of the bed and he put on his sandals at the foot of the bed. He stood and walked slowly to the door. He reached out for the handle and just before he did he could hear voices from the outside.

"He`s been out of it for 3 months, now what do we do? I have heard rumours of Madara, he fasts approaches the village. We must not spend so much time and energy on him." a village elder was trying to reason with Lady Tsunade.

3 months!? Have I been out for that long. It only seemed like a day. I guess that's why my body felt so tired!

"We cant just give up on him, not when he has done so much for the village. Everyone in this village has been affected by him! We are too dependent on him, we don't even realize!" Tsunade reasoned with the elder gesturing all around her "this place and half the people in here wouldn't be here if it weren't for him!"

Naruto leaned closer to the door and pushed his ear agaisnt the door. It gave way under his weight and Naruto fell through the door between Tsunade and the elder.

"NARUTO" Tsunade exclaimed "you woke up!" Tsunade picked up Naruto and squeezed him tight. "you scared me half to death! " Naruto was being squished by Tsunade.

"Ahh Tsunade, it….hurts. Too….much…love" Naruto tried to unhinged Tsunades death grip fingers from around him. Tsunade finally let go of Naruto and held him at arms length.

"Im so glad your back! "

"So am I. What happened while I wasn't here?"

"Shikamaru told me that he saw your mum. I had him admitted as well, I was worried about him. With him having a younger sibling now to look after by himself, I think the strain is starting to show". Tsunade finally let go of Naruto and lead him to a seat on the armchair in the hallway of the hospital recovery ward.

"While you were under, you kept on spitting up blood. So we knew that you were trapped in some kind of genjutsu. You came close several times. Naruto what were you doing, who was controlling the genjutsu, was it Madara?" Naruto wasn't sure it was a good idea to tell everyone about Obito, what good would it do.

It would only trigger more revenge and create a never ending cycle. Just like with Sasuke; Sasuke, what did happen to him, was he an illusion that Obito created? He wasn't here that was for sure.

"I met my parents and…" Naruto wasn't going to tell Tsunade about Obito, it was what Minato would have wanted, maintain the peace in the village. "it was a dream, Im pretty sure Neji messed with my chakra networks in the friendly spar I was in last week with him. It`s nothing to worry about."

"But Naruto you were out for 3 months it must have been something more serious than a spar!?"

Tsunade knew Naruto was holding back. After all it was part of her job as hokage to see through people. But she also knew Naruto well enough that if it was an important thing then she would tell him. So she let it be. Tsunade smiled at Naruto

"Anyway, its amazing to see you!"

"NARUTO?!" voices came from down the hall. Naruto turned to see a crowd of people running towards him. As they approached Naruto realised that it was his friends. They had all come to see him.

They all crowded around Naruto asking him questions in concerned tones. Why did I ever think that I would need Obitos help to get my family back, I already have family here.

"Everyone back up, your going to smoother him to death!" Tsunade formed a pathway around Naruto so that he had some breathing space.

Naruto cleared his throat and everyone quietened down "Im alright, thanks so much for coming. But I think I need a bit of time t-"

"But you have been gone for 3 months isn't that enough time! " A voice from the back of the crowd sounded. Naruto made a pathway through his friends and approached the voice.

Naruto saw Sasuke stand before him "Sasuke, what are you-"

"Naruto only you can see me. Remember Naruto Im not really here. Remember Obito created me as an illusion to trick you! Idiot. Im here to give something to you. "

"Oh" Naruto looked disapointed "well, what did you have to give to me?"

"This" Sasuke passed Naruto an envelope.

EPILOGUE

As Naruto walked home from the hospital the next morning he passed the pier that Sasuke used to sit when he was younger and remembered the envelope that he had given him the previous day.

As he opened the envelope he felt nervous his palms slightly sweaty and hands shaking, the letter read:

Naruto, October 10th

I don't know if you will ever read this, but you were the greatest achievement of my life. With you I delivered the future of the village, even the whole ninja world. I believe in you entirely. If you ever feel like you can`t do something, just remember that I believe in you.

Your father

Naruto looked up and smiled at the Hokage rock. "I will make you proud, dad"
