Chapter 21: Answers First, Strike Later
Amanda's POV
"How did you even get in here?" Randy asks the intruder as he continued to stare him down.
"Simple; I went through the front door." he tells us, his gaze unwavering, but his voice absolutely sarcastic. "Well . . . I went through the crack of the front door."
"What do you want to talk to us about?" I ask the man as he put his hands in his pockets. His eyes continued to bore down on me as he began to walk closer to the bed. I could hear Randy struggling to break out of the man's hold, but it doesn't seem to budge as the man takes a seat at the edge of the bed.
"I want to talk to the both of you about a few things," he tells me as he released a breath from his lungs. "I would talk to you both on equal terms, but I heard your mate here has a very bad temper so . . . I thought it was better to be safe than sorry."
"Yeah . . . we wouldn't want the Viper pinning you to the wall and choking the life out of ya now do we?" I ask with a sarcastic edge to my voice as I snuck a look at Randy, who still looked pissed as ever.
"Exactly . . ." he tells me with a shake of his head.
"Sorry to but in to your little conversation . . . but what kind of species are you, if you don't mind me asking?" Randy says through clenched teeth as he keeps his stare on the Marik guy.
"Oh . . . it's been a while since someone actually asked me what species I am," says Marik as he weaved his fingers together. "Why don't you look down at your feet to figure it out?"
We both look down at the ground to see Randy's shadow . . . perfectly lined up with Marik's own. As soon as Marik raised his left hand, Randy's left hand moved as well, but a little more stiffly; like a puppet being controlled by its' master.
"You're a shadow demon . . ." I mumble as I watch him continue to move his hand around, Randy's hand moving the same way as his.
"Yep; I can control another person's body through their shadow. It's one of my many abilities . . . and I'm not limited to just one person at a time by the way," he tells me with a warning look. "So . . . I suggest you give me the answers I seek or else."
"Or else what?" Randy asks him as he sent Marik a cold look. Marik turned around and smirked at him as he brought his hand back to his side.
"Mr. Orton . . . I've heard a lot of things about you . . . and one of the things that stood out to me is the fact that even though you are a vampire . . . you have a history of shoulder problems," says the demon as he slowly got up off the bed and walked over to Randy's position. "I'm not sure if that's true or it's just a part of your character so that you seem more human to the public. . . I wonder . . ." mutters Marik as he tapped the side of his temple. "Why don't I just test your that theory out?"
"You wouldn't – AAAAAHHHHHH!" I jump at Randy's sudden yell; his face is a display of absolute pain and anger as his right arm hung limply at his side, and that's when it hits me . . .
. . . Marik made Randy rip his own arm out of his socket.
"Hmm . . . I thought it would hurt less for you. You are a vampire after all," mutters Marik as he shook his head. "Now . . . try to bite your tongue when a scathing comment threatens to leave your mouth . . . or else I'll make you use your good arm to rip your mate's arm out of her socket. How would you like that?"
Randy looks at him in slight shock before turning to me; I can see the pain and the anger in his eyes as he turns back to Marik. He grits his teeth before letting out a sigh of defeat as he shook his head, telling the both of us that he is reluctantly complying for my sake.
"Now that's a good viper," says Marik as he turns to me. "So . . . here's the first question . . . why?"
"Why what?" I ask; slightly confused at his first question.
"Why did you do it? Why did you two kill Sergei?" he asks me as he sits back down on the edge of the bed. "I thought this whole . . . situation with him was all part of a storyline your bosses came up with to attract more viewers to the WWE. Apparently . . . it turned out to be something more than that,"
"Trust me . . . it was more than just a storyline, unfortunately," I mumble as I look away. "Sergei only came to the WWE because he wanted me. . . He wanted me to be his mate."
"Oh boy . . . that's so typical of Sergei . . ." mutters the shadow demon as he shook his head. "He always does this . . . and this time he finally paid for it."
"Something tells me Sergei is a repeat offender when it comes to these kinds of things huh?" mutters Randy as he let a sarcastic snort come out of his mouth.
"I would probably make you impale yourself on something sharp if it wasn't for the fact that your statement is true Mr. Orton," says Marik as he turned to him. "Sergei indeed has pulled stunts like this before . . . but this is the first time his stunt revolved around a woman . . . He must have felt pressured to do it."
"Pressured?" I ask in slight disbelief. "He didn't seem that pressured when we had to deal with him."
"Sergei's not one to show his emotions till he wants to trick you or he's just plain frustrated," explains Marik as he walked toward the window. "He was the Romanian Regent, and as Regent, he had to set an example for his people to follow. The people of the Romanian Coven are very traditional . . . and in their way of thinking, an ideal leader is complemented by an ideal companion . . . And apparently, Sergei thought you would be his ideal companion."
"Why would he think that?" says Randy as a scowl came across his face. "He didn't even know her at the time!"
"You make a good point; he didn't know you personally," says Marik as he turned to me. "But he knew your work . . . As soon as he saw your eyes go red during one of your earlier matches, you had officially peaked his interest."
"Earlier matches? You mean he's been watching me for years?" I ask, a little freaked out over the possibility.
"Ever since you were just a rookie," he tells me bluntly with a shrug. " . . . But always as a fan and nothing more; he liked the fact that you were different from the other Divas and that you weren't afraid to show it. And once the Coven elders began to badger him about the necessity of finding his mate and having her by his side at the top of the coven, you were at the top of his list."
"Why couldn't he just let nature take its' course and just wait till he found his actual mate?" I ask as I shake my head. "He was the damn Regent of the Coven . . . His word was law . . . He could have just told the Elders to pipe down and wait till he found his soul mate."
"You make a good point there as well," he tells me with a sigh. "But one thing that Sergei loved . . . was a challenge. He knew that there was a chance, and a strong one at that, that you were not his mate, but he didn't care. He wanted to see if he can lure you in, but, I believe he had a few challenges along the way, one of them being him." he tells me as he jutted his thumb at Randy.
"You got that right," said Randy as a sneer came across his face. "Like hell I was going to let him take Amanda from her life here. If he thought he was just going to waltz right in and take her just like that, well . . . he had another thing coming."
"I see . . . so it's safe to say you were the one that dealt him the fatal blow?" Marik asks him as he approaches Randy.
"I would be lying if I said I didn't." Randy tells him in his most serious tone of voice as the two lock eyes.
"And who was the one that burned his body?" he asks us as he turns to me.
"Guilty . . ." I say bluntly as I raise my hand. "So . . . are you and your friends going to come after us for retribution?"
"Them . . . yes, me, no," he tells us, taking me by surprise. "As one of his oldest acquaintances, I have known Sergei the longest . . . and yet . . . I disliked him the most. I always thought to myself that his actions would one day get him killed . . . and my theory was proven right with you two. The others, they're more loyal to Sergei. They are a few of his most loyal followers. They'll come after you one way or another in order to avenge him."
"If you didn't come here to kill us, then why are you here?" I ask as I raise an eyebrow.
"Simple; I wanted answers . . . and now I have finally got them. I'm satisfied with that." he tells me with a shrug. "After today, you will never see me again . . . so I leave you with this; always stay on alert. If you let your guard down, they won't hesitate to strike when they find an opening."
"Mind telling us what your other friends are like?" asks Randy as he raises an eyebrow, his stare looking somewhat pissed, but also a little curious. "We like to know what we're up against."
"Certainly . . . One's a very powerful witch that tends to smell a lot like flowers, so you'll notice her strong scent in an instant and very easily. The second is a member of the species that are cousins of the werewolves. He's a lycan, giving him the ability to change into a form that is deadlier than five Alpha werewolves combined. The third is a vampire who specializes in tracking. He is the one that you must look out for the most. He is someone that you cannot hide from . . . even if you try. Once he finds a target, nothing stops him from eliminating it." he tells us with a serious edge to his voice.
"Hmm . . . a powerful bunch . . . Your friends aren't going to be too happy once they find out you're not helping them." mutters Randy as we watch Marik walk over to the door.
"They already know I'm not helping them, which pisses them off, especially the vampire," he tells us as he leans against the door. "Oh . . . And I almost forgot . . . I bet you're wondering how that dark entity got into a Mr. Kurt Angle hmm?"
"The thought has crossed our minds." I mutter with an eyebrow raised. "Care to explain what's happening to him?"
"Let's just say the witch's reanimation spell went a little awry when she cast it." he tells us with a sigh. "It was supposed to bring Sergei back, like originally planned, but it brought back something that we didn't expect. It didn't bring back one spirit; it brought back two, and the one within Kurt is a pretty dangerous beastie."
"Is the other one Sergei? The one not residing within Kurt?" Randy asks him, pissed at the possibility that we may be dealing with the dead Romanian after all.
"The other spirit is weak and can't talk at the moment, but we're not entirely sure if it is Sergei or not. It's currently harmless right now, but once it regains its' strength . . . who knows? That spirit is currently living within Sergei's dead body, but the body hasn't been brought back to life . . . yet. It all depends on whether or not the witch can return the body back to its' former glory," says Marik as his eyes went dark. "Use the info I have given you wisely. Prepare yourselves. They will be coming . . . and they will be coming soon."
We watch in amazement as the man . . . sunk into his own shadow before it moved to leave through the crack under the door. Randy let out a sharp gasp as he took a step forward; instantly clutching his still dislocated shoulder as he was finally allowed to move around again.
"Are you okay Randy?" I ask in concern as he walks back over to his side of the bed.
"I'll be fine . . ." he tells me as he sits down. "You know me . . . I have dealt with shoulder problems before . . . this is just another one. I'll just push it back in. Simple as that."
"If you say so . . ." I tell him with a shrug as I reach for my charging cell phone. "I'm going to call the others. They would want to know all the details of our encounter with the shadow demon."
"Tell them to come to our room. It'll be better if we explained it all face to face." Randy tells me as I watch him realign his shoulder.
"Good idea . . ." I say as I scroll through my contact list, the details traveling through my head as I tapped on the first name.
Normal POV
A loud knocking sound came echoed across the suite, gaining the attention from all the inhabitants within the room. Randy walked over to the door and opened it to reveal a drowsy looking Edge and Lita behind the door.
"May I ask why you called us up at two in the morning?" asked Edge as he wiped the sleep from his eyes.
"All will be revealed in time." answered Randy as he let the two in. As soon as they walked inside, the two werewolves stopped in their tracks as they saw that most of their friends were already there.
"Okay . . . two people are still missing here . . ." mumbled Edge as he looked around the room. "Where are Cody and Kaitlyn?"
"They're not in the hotel that's for sure . . ." called Amanda as she walked out of the bedroom. "I just called them a second ago. They just entered the city limits ten minutes ago. They had car trouble along the way, but they should be here within the hour."
"Okay then . . . now that that's settled . . . mind telling us why you two gathered all of here this early in the morning?" asked Lita as she took a seat next to John.
"Oh yeah . . . we got an unwelcomed visitor earlier tonight," mumbled Amanda as she crossed her arms. "One of Sergei's acquaintances decided to pay us a visit."
"You've got to be kidding!" exclaimed Kofi as everyone went wide eyed. "What the hell happened?"
"He came here looking for answers . . . and we got some in return." answered Randy as he looked around the room.
"Okay . . . what did the acquaintance want to know?" asked John as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Oh the simple stuff . . . it mostly revolved around why we killed Sergei," said Amanda with a shrug. "Turns out the guy was one of Sergei's oldest allies, but he didn't really like him that much. He always knew that Sergei's actions would get him in trouble . . . and eventually he was proven right."
"Wait a second . . . how did he even get into your room in the first place?" asked Layla as her head fell onto Sheamus' shoulder.
"He's a shadow demon like Booker T; he was able to go into his own shadow and go under the crack of the door in order to get in here." answered Randy as he nodded his head over to the door.
"Well that's creepy . . ." muttered Kelly Kelly. "We have to deal with that guy along with the other people Sergei knew?"
"Not really . . . the shadow demon isn't going to help the others anymore. Like I said, the guy doesn't like him, so he has decided to back out of the fight." answered Amanda as she crossed her arms.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Wade as he raised an eyebrow.
"Positive; I heard his heart. It didn't skip a beat. He was telling the truth." answered Randy with a shrug.
"Okay; so that's one potential enemy down. What about the other three?" asked Monica as she crossed her arms.
"Well . . . we have two guys and a girl to deal with," answered Amanda as she put three fingers up in the air. "The girl's a witch. It's safe to say she's a powerful witch at that since she did cast a reanimation spell to bring Sergei back to life and didn't did from it."
"What? They were trying to bring Sergei back?" asked Sheamus in disbelief as his eyes widened.
"Yep; they tried, but they ended up bringing back two spirits. There's a weak spirit that is currently living within what's left of Sergei's body. And then there is the dark spirit that's currently living within Kurt." explained Randy with a shrug.
"Is one of them Sergei?" asked Ted as he raised an eyebrow.
"That's something we don't know for sure yet." muttered Randy as ha scowl came across his face.
"Okay . . . what about the other guys?" asked Alicia as she began to flick a small flame across her fingers.
"Well the first guy is a lycan for starters . . ." muttered Amanda as she combed her fingers through her hair. Wade, Lita, and Edge all sat up ramrod straight as they turned to the elder psychic; there faces very grim as soon as she said the word lycan.
"Guys . . . what do you guys know about lycans?" asked Monica as she turned to her fellow werewolves.
"Lycans are one of the most dangerous species on the entire planet. They're basically our more aggressive, more unstable, and deadlier cousins," answered Wade as a dark look came across his face. "They're power is unmatched. You don't see them much among humans because they usually can't control themselves in public."
"They take on a form that is a more aggressive combination of human and wolf. Once they're transformed, they are completely uncontrollable and we'll not stop at nothing till they are satisfied." added Lita as she crossed her arms. "Adam here had a run in with a lycan many years ago."
"You did?" asked Randy as he turned to his old Rated RKO stable mate.
"Yeah . . . it happened back in 2000, before any of you guys, besides Lita here, appeared on the roster. We had a stop in Toronto and I decided to go out for a hike outside of town. . . Let's just say I barely escaped with my life." explained Adam as a scarred expression came across his face.
"How bad is this lycan?" asked Wade as he turned to the snake couple.
"According to the shadow demon, he said the lycan was deadlier than five Alpha werewolves' combined." said Amanda with a sigh. Everyone turned grimly at each other before bringing their attention back to the snake couple.
"What about the other guy?" asked John as he gulped in a breath of air.
"The other guy is a vampire; a tracker vampire. Apparently, he will stop at nothing until he finds what he's looking for and that it's no use hiding from him. He will always find what he's looking for . . . and he will eliminate it," said Randy as he looked around the group. "The shadow demon says he's the one that we have to look out for the most."
"And I thought the lycan was bad enough?" muttered Layla as she crossed her arms. "How did Sergei even get him as an ally in the first place? I thought lycans had worse relations with vampires than with werewolves."
"They do . . ." answered Adam as he shook his head. "How Sergei manage to get a lycan on his side is beyond me."
"Okay . . . so we got a lycan, a witch, and a tracker vampire to deal with. Plus, there is that spirit within Sergei's dead body and the other spirit within Kurt that we have to deal with too." muttered Kofi as he list them down.
"We can deal with that later . . ." muttered Kelly as she got everyone's eyes on her. "Right now . . . Ted's having a vision."
Everyone looked at Ted to see that his eyes were already rolled back into his head. A vacant look came over his face as his hands began to tremble; the vision already underway.
"Ted . . . can you hear us?" asked Alicia as she raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah . . . I hear ya." whispered Ted, his voice practically unrecognizable.
"What do you see man?" asked John as he walked a little close to Ted's position.
"I see Cody . . . at the wheel of his car . . . he looks all panicky . . ." muttered Ted as he scrunched his eyebrows together.
"What about Kaitlyn? Do you see her?" asked Layla as a pang of worry overcame her.
"Yeah . . . she's in the front passenger seat . . . but she looks like she's out cold . . . Cody . . . he keeps . . . looking over his shoulder . . . like someone is following them . . . no . . . someone's chasing them." said Ted as his eyes rolled back forward.
"Wait a second? Do you think it's happening now?" asked Kelly . . . just as the twins let out pained screams of their own; putting their boyfriends on high alert.
"Amanda . . . Amanda, what's wrong?" asked Randy as he was at her side in an instant. Amanda had a pained grimace on her face as her right hand was clutching her right temple.
"That was Cody . . ." answered Amanda as she looked at the group. "He said someone's chasing him and Kailtyn."
"Where are they?" asked John as he looked at the twins.
"Just up the block!" answered Monica as Wade put his hands reassuringly on her shoulders. "They were at a gas station when it happened. Cody went in the story to pay for the gas and he came out to see . . ."
"See what lassie?" asked Sheamus as his eyes widened in suspense.
". . . He saw a vampire with his teeth right in Kaitlyn's neck." finished Amanda as her eyes glow a dulled red. All the girls gasped in shock as the men looked at each other just in disbelief . . . except for Randy . . . who was the only one that maintained his focus.
"Where are they now?" asked Randy as he started to walk over to the door.
"They just pulled into the underground parking lot." answered Amanda, her voice the last thing he heard as he walked out the suite. He went into the staircase and ran all the way down to the lot. Once he got out of the staircase, the smell of blood grabbed his attention and he turned to see Cody running up to him with a limp Kaitlyn in his arms.
"What happened Cody?" asked Randy as he met the Dashing superstar halfway.
"I was going into the station to pay for the gas. When I walked back out, I saw this vampire . . . latched onto her neck. When he saw me, he let her go. He was coming after me next if it wasn't for a pair of cops pulling up in their car. He went after them, giving me enough time to escape with Kaitlyn." Cody fired off in a panic filled rapid fashion as the two made their way to the staircase.
"Let me see her wound." answered Randy once the two entered the staircase. Cody stayed still as he held his girlfriend in his arms while Randy moved toward her neck. He moved her blood tainted hair out of the way to look at her wound. Two small bite wounds lined the side of her neck, a small trail of drying blood leading away from it and down her neck.
"Wait a second . . ." muttered Randy as his eyes narrowed at the wound.
"What . . . what's wrong? Is she going to be okay?" asked Cody, his voice still panicky as ever.
"She'll survive . . . but . . . she'll never be the same again." muttered Randy as he looked at the wound intently. Cody also looked down at the wound to see that the wound . . . was disappearing. It slowly closed up on its' own, leaving her skin like it was never there.
"Wait a second . . . it closed up on its own?" said Cody in shock as his eyes widened. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means only one thing Cody," muttered Randy as he looked up at his friend. "The vampire that attacked Kaitlyn didn't feed from her . . . he turned her . . ."
"Turned her?" said Cody in a whisper, his eyes showing his disbelief.
"Yeah Cody . . ." said Randy with a small sigh. "She's becoming a vampire."
Dun-dun-dun . . . Kaitlyn's been turned! I wonder what will happen with her relationship with Cody. The acquaintances have struck first! Who will be next! Read to find out!
